Ok, in your kernel thread it states it has Philz Touch, but ivr never been able to get it load other than straight after flashing it. Is there an issue somewhere, even if i use your reboot app, it reboots either into twrp or cwm, which i can use, so not a huge issue, would just prefer to use Philz. Thanks.

Does this work well with the 402 update, Philz recovery was always my favourite recovery on SGS3, not seen many posts in here recently so looking for opinions.
Plan is to get unlock code from Sony, use FlashTool to unlock the bootloader, use Flashtool to flash the boot img from the first post in this thread & then flash superSU, is that the bets way to go about it?

Yes, it's dedicated for the .402 update
Your plan is valid, although keep in mind that Doomkernel has also Philz integrated.
Cheers for the reply mate. Is there a way to flash Philz with just the stock kernel or does it have to DoomLord's advanced kernel?

Hi OP,
I am using Build version: 6.29.8 - Xperia Z1 on Xperia X2 D6503.
(maybe slightly older than the latest one?)
I just tried to "Custom backup" my /sdcard partition for file recovery purpose.
However, the "Backup size" was 0.
So i wonder if the backup "sd-ext" function is still working on the PhilZ version.
Thanks in advance.
Will this work on D6502 and do i need an unlocked bootloader for it. Please somebody suggest. Thanks
ive flashed this
however i cant seem to access the recovery partition?
Great work guys !
Will this work with CM11, i currently have the latest CM11 NIGHTLY installed along with CWM recovery 6.0.5.0.
EDIT:
Also, i installed the latest firmware .314 before going to CM11, will flashing this change my kernel to anything other than what i have now ?
Thanks !

This version is for stock based roms, older ones at that. So no, CM won't work with this installed unfortunately.

Hello,
I want to install Kitkar 4.4 on my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000(India).
I'm completely not aware for this android installation. So please help me.
Please tell me steps and download links. I tried steps which is i got fro internet but most of the time file location was banned by government or removed. So again tried with CWM but still i got stuck. Now I'm using Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2, Build no- JZO54K.N7000DLSC, Kernel version- 3.0.31-906407(SMP PREEMPT WED MARCH 6 19:53:40 KST 2013). This is my phone details. Please suggest me for this model.
Thanks in advance.
Rahul.
I use Firefox with anonimox extesion to bypass the banned's site... But i'm in Italia. You Can try.
The Step to install kilkat are:
Install The correct philz kernel version.
Install the raw kernel and reboot the recovery.
Full wipe.
Install the 4.4 Rom
Install the gapps.
Wipe cache and dalvik
Roboot.
Inviato dal mio GT-N7000 utilizzando Tapatalk
try cm11 by herna (try the latest built by frantisheq) really stable and smooth
btw: full wipe means wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik and manually format /system.

I've tried to install 4.4 kitkat on my note n7000 too but there are too much cusrom, such as asylum, omnirom, cyogenmod and much recovery mode like cwm, twrp, this is make me so frustating, what to choose what to install? If anyone can guide newbie like us step by step and also the link, the best step that never make our phone brick
just stay away from Stock ICS kernel (dont wipe anything using stock ics recovery)
then root your rom and make a backup of your efs (this is the most important step)
now each thread contains all the steps you need to follow, just read them carefully)
I advice you to try herna cm11 (very stable)

Ok my friend
I use this method to install cm 11 4.4 kitkat
1- I install philz kernel+safe kernel for my JB 4.1.2
2- I install cm 10.2 (4.3) or cm10.1 (4.2.2)
3- I install cm11(4.4)
It work to me and I install 3 kitkat rom
Or as he is already on philz kernel, just flash raw kernel reboot recovery and flash omnirom or asylum omnirom or Nameless Rom or DU or SlimKat

Aftarthat you can install kitkat 4.4.2
Just flash the raw Kernel from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397000
Then reboot into recovery directly (DO NOT reboot into system) then flash directly whatever you want of KitKat based ROMs.
Remember to follow the instructions of each ROM that is mentioned in the opening post of the thread.

raw kernel r4 is cwm while r5 is TWRP. To root and get custom recovery for your stock rom,you must flash philz kernel. Once you have philz kernel, reboot recovery and from there flash r4 or r5 kernel and again reboot recovery and then do the wipes and flash any kitkat rom with gapps. Kernel with SELinux support are raw kernel, r4 and r5, Asylum kernel http://asylumrom.com/Asylum/Asylum-Roms/KitKat-4.4/N7000/kerner/.
i installed philz recovery yesterday after which i bricked my n7000 while i tried installing the C-Rom .
I just now used ODIN to get back to my STOCK ROM that is 2.3.6.
Its really interesting to see how i can just go back to the first firmware my phone came with
Please suggest me a combination of a custom recovery & a custom ROM without getting bricked .
as im new to this open source & trying new things for my phone ,i would like to try something according to your experiences .
Something which is stable ,smooth and latest !!
Thanks !!
i have read many many posts and whenever i try to install any recovery, i get E:verification failed !!

KK cannot be installed using Odin as its a custom rom.. As you are on JB, root it using one of the Philz kernels matching your rom build number (post 3 or Philz thread TW).. The flash raw r4 kernel, boot into its recovery and then flash KK roms.

Please kindly just reply by answering the specifically asked question regarding the kit kat rom.
I am in a confused state as i can see there are a huge amount of ROMs available many are nightly made, which say them to be not in a stable state.
Found the SlimKat in the forum ,downloading the ROM SlimSaber-n7000-4.4.2-20140531.zip 139mb
Installation instructions..
Download the latest build from [here]
Gapps ( if you don't have it already) from [here]
!Recommended! Full wipe, and manual format /system
Flash ROM and the gapps you want, reboot
Maybe a silly question but ,Do i need to download the gapps files & why ??

Not one of these questions show anything of this:
the first is part of the installation instructions.
the second can be found with the search (and was answered thousands of times)
the third is simply against XDA rules
To flash a kitkat rom, the recovery needs to be compatible with SE linux.
The recovery is part of a kernel
To flash a kitkat rom you need to flash a recent kernel first.
Try flashing raw kernel r4,r5, or Forest-CM11. it does not matter that they are incompatible with your current or future roms, they will get overwritten when you flash a rom (roms include kernels).
Then reboot recovery or restart phone and enter recovery again.
Then you wipe cache, data, and system.
Then flash the kitkat rom of choice.

Hey,
Whenever I try to flash another kernel which is required to flash a new rom to my SP, everything works just fine. Except that when I finish the flashing and boot up to the ROM, the screen seems to flicker a lot...
I tried turning auto brightness off, flashing another compatible kernel, and flashing a couple of scripts that claimed to fix the issue...
I am currently at the stock firmware, rooted and with unlocked bootloader.
What is weird is, when I flash the stock 12.1.A.1.205 firmware back...the screen stops flickering.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

That's ok...
Thanks for your time anyway
As win32r said, you should try a cm11 based ROM but for locked bootloader (they work for ubl too). With these roms you can use a kernel based on stock ( for example stock kernel or Williams kernel Sony version) which should fix your issue.
All roms that are for LBL will work with the stock kernel or Williams kernel v7. I wrote something about this in the Williams kernel website : http://williams-kernel.tk/help.php and I'll probably write this info on xda too if I have some time.
Wow. Apparently, your kernel is the only one that that doesn't give me a flickering screen
I tried an unofficial cm11 build along with it and it worked like a charm!
I just can't thank you both enough...
Finally I got a fully working cm11 on my SP
Hi,
I wanted to install CM12.1 in the 1st place but when I tried to install Tangerine Kernel, I got stuck up and the screen went blank with nothing. So I went on with Williams Kernel + CM11 stable version just to be sure that I don't brick my phone permanently.
I have been browsing through the forum, trying to know which Kernel to be used for CM12.1 ? Helium has versions like L and M which confuses me !
It would be really helpful if you guys clarify my queries,
Can anyone please let me know what Kernel and its version to be used with CM12.1 which is stable for daily use ?
Also can I go with huashan's latest nightly build for CM12.1 dated 2016-04-02?
Also I have another doubt in the installation sequence. After installing a new Kernel.zip from SD card through recovery, should I go ahead and install the ROM.zip at the same time or should I reboot my phone after installing the new Kernel and enter recovery again to install the ROM ?
Please help me understand.
I have unlocked bootloader + Williams Kernel + CM11 stable version currently on my phone.
Thanks in advance.
If you are using a new nightly of cm12.1 don't use tangerine kernel because is outdated. Use helium or the stock one. For helium: M means marshmallow, that's android 6.0.1. You have to use helium L. The l stands for lollipop, Android 5.1.1.
And, if you flash the kernel and then flash the rom zip you will overwrite the kernel, so at the end you won't install anything.
The installation is in the thread but afaik you have to flash first the rom zip and then the kernel.

Thanks @darjwx for the reply . You have mentioned that we need to flash rom.zip followed by the kernel.zip that is needed for the ROM. But how does the old kernel (Williams Kernel in my case) support the new ROM (cm12.1 in my case) ?
As per my understanding, we need a proper Kernel to run the ROM. Is it not like that ? Also ROM and Kernel shares different memory right ?
The rom zip comes with a kernel, so flashing the rom zip will install the new kernel.
Yep you can say that. But it's better to say that they are using different partitions.
