First of all I am a newbie to flashing roms/unlocking/etc. I have an HTC TyTN II phone and have been reading for hours on how to change the bootscreen. (1st screen that pops up after powering the phone on) I kind of get an idea of how to do so but I guess I'm having compatibility issues or something with my computer running Vista 64 bit. Anyhow, I was able to flash my phone to one of the L26 diamond series roms and reflashed it with a different rom. My problem is that the bootscreen still shows the guy with a blue eye and says "L26 Diamond Series" on the bottom lower left corner. I want to change this back to the original "smart mobility" screen that the phone first came with or perhaps change it to some other HTC smart mobility screen. (I really love how the OEM original screens look) I hate the bootscreen on my phone right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even better if you are located in the Southern California area and can help me in person. I'm willing to drive to you and perhaps even pay you. Please show me how it is done. I am a fast learner. Just a little overwhelmed right now that's all.
Appreciate your time.
Thanks in advance!
lol you can flash your rom but can't do the exact same thing for the splash screen.
funny
try doing a search "change bootscreen". You'd be surprised on what you find....
first of all to help you out that "boot screen" is called a splash screen if you say boot people will get confused thinking you mean the boot loader
second of all there are two ways to do it...
you can flash a new splash screen using a custom bootloader
or if it isn't cooked into your rom.....
you can change it through registry setting (just use schapps advanced configurator)
there are actually two different types of splash screens also... the one that is first that replaces your carier.
after that sometimes there is an animation ( you can use advanced configurator to enable disable and choose the animation)
and then the win mo splash screen.....
all of them are replaceable just search around for specifics on how to change them is not to hard
Figured it out!
I went ahead and used my friend's computer which is running Win XP and figured it out. It's a piece of cake now. Thanks for your help guys.

Thank you for replying with no scolding or sarcasm! I really appreciate it!
I have used Adv-Config3 to change the splash screen so not to have AT&T logo staring at me, but 'No Joy'. I assume it has to be a .gif? Or will other file types work?
thank you in advance.

It's actually really annoying that both screens while boothing are referred to as the splash screen. The splash screen that is referred to in Advanced config would more appropriately be called the welcome screen. To get rid of the very first screen which is also referred to as the splash screen you must flash a different one. If you search "custom splash screens" it will take you to a thread with a lot of different ones you can download. It's also pretty easy to create your own custom ones should you desire to do that as well.
I think the issue you're running into is that the one you're changing in advanced configu is supposed to be a .png file. Animated GIF's can be used, but think they're supposed to be named something different. I'll have to check and update my post.

The initial (Boot) screen when you first power on your phone has to be flashed like a ROM. Then, if you have a GIF file named animated.gif* in the \Windows directory, that image will display before moving on to the Welcome screen. The Welcome Screen is a PNG image named welcomehead69.png (or welcomehead.69.png) also found in the \Windows directory.
* AT&T-based ROMs change the registry key defining the name of the animated GIF, so you will need to edit that key after placing the GIF file in \Windows.
Hope this clears everything up.
To replace the L26 Page you need to follow these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334907

That's right, i was thinking it was called animated.gif, but that seemed to obvious i guess, thanks for the info man. I actually have the animated boot screen disabled in my defautl settings xml that runs during my UC so i never really looked into changing it. I should definitely make a custom welcomehead file though and put it in my UC to copy over for my truely presonalize feel lol. I always end up switching my own favorite radios with teh ones cooked in on almost every rom i've downloaded. I really like the 1.59.42.15 radio, but no chef's bundle it...fortunately some wonderful minds around here made it easy for people to put whatever radio they want in a rom

If it didn't change you'll have to flash it using a custom RUU because it is cooked in, you can learn how to do that here
ok, born from the verbose bootscreen idea there was the fake verbose bootscreen idea, credit goes here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4912469
this is what i came up with in a quick session, i think there is much room for improvement. if anybody likes to contribute, i would be glad for creative support
apply the zip as update.zip, make a nandroid backup before just in case. to make it easier to revert i attached a zipfile with the original files in them to revert to original, one with the sounds activated, one silent.
please tell me what you think
Hello,
do you have any screenshot of the boot or video?
Just extract the gif files and open them in IE or firefox. They'll play the anim. Very funny
thats quite funny
Lol
You are completely cool!
Thank you for this Bootscreens.
Now, Hero Booting isn't pain anymore!
glad you liked it. stay tuned for next version, already working on a progress bar... won't be out before weekend i guess.
still looking for a fingerprint scanner animation.
Nice one Thou i kinda miss my androids popping up everywhere. Would it be cool if you had a Android face popping down from the top of the screen?

for now i found a way to edit the files in inkscape, one layer per frame, exporting them to .xcf keeping the layers, and then use gimp to convert to animated gif. works, but is a lot of footwork... but i guess as i am trying to make a rather "complex" (at least for a gif) animation it just is a lot of footwork...

Hey, I was wondering if you could help me out. I dig your boot animation, and it's inspired me to make my own (OK, I'm just stealing the old "Cylon Eye" animation from the pre-release days.) Anyway, I've got the animation zip installed and working, however it seems like the phone is ignoring the frame delay. The animation seems to be going as fast as the phone can handle. So maybe there's a setting on the animated GIF that I'm not applying. Are there any specific settings you applied to your gifs?
Here's what I've got right now:
Code:
Interlace: No
GIF Comment: No
Loop Forever: Yes
Delay between frames where unspecified: 10ms
Frame disposal where unspecified: "I don't care" (other options are Combine and Replace)
Use Delay entered for all frames: Yes
Use Disposal entered for all frames: Yes
These settings are in GIMP. If you could help me figure this out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

set that value to a higher number, try 100ms. this specifies the general frame delay, you can set per-frame delays in the name of the frame. for example:
"Frame#1" is the layer name, make it
"Frame#1(500ms)" to make the delay half a second long.
(if that doesn't work try to google it, i am not 100% sure about the syntax)
would you mind sharing that animation you are talking about?
btw: work is still ongoing here, nuclear power now has a colored progress bar, but it is getting complicated handling 150+ layers in inkscape...

Yeah, I realized that my math was off with the delay, after noticing yours was 500ms. I'm going to try a couple other things to get it smoother as well. The stock boot animation has a small animated gif in the middle of the screen with a black background, so I imagine the phone can handle that easier than a full 480x320 animation, so that's my next step. I was actually just about to post my animation in a separate thread, so I'll link that post here when I've done that.
EDIT: My initial attempt is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583094
There's still work to be done, so don't judge me to hard!
thank you for the bootscreen.. finally removed that dreaded sprint bootup animation =)

Hello, friends!
I have a nearly useless app here. I'm trying to submit it to the marketplace and those Microsoft people don't seem to have nay problem with the uselessness! However, I had accidentally used a Windows logo in the splashscreen art of the app. Obviously, they were not comfortable with it and asked me to remove it. So, without bothering to go to source again, I simply replaced the jpeg file inside XAP keeping the name of the XAP same. But even after correcting the file, they tell me that there's still Windows logo and the application is rejected.
The XAP is here: Link has been removed
Finally, the app is here:
Is there any chance that I might have left some traces of the logo somewhere? Or is it possible that the same old XAP file was tested again due to names of the new and the old being same? Thanks to community for the support! Feel free to comment on the app and the logo thing. Suggestions are always welcome.

Nice start. I think there is a problem though. Once you click "More" to read the entire article, is there no way to go back? Maybe I am missing something.
A couple of suggestions too.
1) Dark theme for AMOLED users.
2) Options to add sites for feeds.
Thanks.
Thanks!

Thanks a lot for your suggestions. They're around on my to-do list, especially the theme one.
About navigation: I guess, the operating system makes use of the IE itself (of the engine behind IE, to be precise) to show pages even inside app. So, back button works the same way it does with IE - taking you one page back. So, the button's action depends upon the page being loaded. Simple solution to the problem you mentioned is to double press the back button - it works, I've checked. It takes back you to the list of news items. (It doesn't take you to the page where you clicked 'more', because I think its pointless to go to the short form of the article again after reading the whole article. Let me know if you think otherwise.)
Now, to address my issue, did you find any objectionable content (Windows logo or something copyrighted) which those people are complaining about?
Couldn't find anything except for the pocketnow logo on the splash screen that could have been mistaken as the Windows logo. I know it sounds silly, but who knows.

That's what I thought at first - the pocketnow logo. First thing, if pocketnow are using it, then should I. Secondly, it differs from the Windows logo significantly. Thirdly, they mentioned that the logo appears on the left cornet of the screen. And lastly, as you mentioned, pocketnow thing is stupid!
There was red Windows Mango logo used in the splash, which is now replaced with a red tile with the words 'blog windows phone'. I think that the confusion arose because I didn't change the name of XAP and the old one was tested again! Hope to get that approved. Wish me luck. I'll report the deep link here once its done.

thanks il give it a try.
Would i just copy the bootanimation.zip to my phone then run it through this programme?
yes, once the program has created it, move it to your phone and replace the original one with the one you made
What about ones someone else has made but just need resizing?
I should imagine it would be the same as creating your own, Just edit the resolution and let the program generate it ??
Ive never actually used the program i just remember seeing it one time, and when you asked about it i remembered

Hello all. As the title says, I have lost the two images that I like to use with my phone and try as I have, I have not been able to find them again. I had initially downloaded them when I first got my HTC One from a thread on XDA but I am unable to find it again.
If anybody knows a location for the full HD versions (1080x1920) of these pictures I would be very grateful.
Thanks!
