I have the HTC M8 from sprint. I just finished rooting it and when I went to flash the new nightly (20140527) using TRWP, it showed this:

Did I do something wrong? If there's some way to add "m8_whl" to the list of devices, please let me know.

Usually I would get that message in the case of a bad download.

I tried redownloading it multiple times to no avail. It just refuses to install because ...
This package is for "m8,m8wl,m8wlv,m8vzw,m8whl,m8spr" devices; this is a "m8_whl"

... which makes no sense because I got my m8 from Sprint. Doesn't this mean that the device should be an "m8spr"?

Just open the updater-script in the zip file and add m8_whl to the assert line at the top.

It works!
Will I have to add this line every time there's a new update, or can it be added to the official nightlies?
Edit: I may have spoken too soon. My device was rebooting relentlessly. It would show the "Welcome to CM" screen, then google things would crash, rinse, repeat all in about 10 seconds. Then it went to just showing the boot animation. I managed to turn it off using pwr&vol+, but it somehow encrypted itself. Spooky.
Edit 2 (The return of edit): I forgot to wipe /data. No more crashing now, though my question about the updater-script above still stands.

This is the best thing to do OP. Always trust the Cap'n and his code^^ =)
At least, fixed a similar issue I had while using something other than Captain_Throwback's TWRP for the M8....

Hi just installed CM10 from this topic:

What can I do about it?
Which Version?
Hi, I am currently using CM10 too but that error does not occur to me. It might be an app that's interfering with the settings itself, or that it's just damaged. Either way, try rebooting your phone. If the problem persists, then I would suggest you re-flash the rom again.
By the way, may I know which release are you using?

Wipe data & cache, or ReFlash the ROM.
Im using cm-10-20120907-UNOFFICIAL-tass version.
Unfortunately after reflashing and after wiping data and cache error still occur.
Try re flashing to the nightly 09/02 version, instead of the 09/07 release. I've tried the 0907 one it appears to have more bugs than 0902 and somehow I managed to get in a boot loop with that release
I'm currently using 0902 lol.

Do you have sd-ext on your sd card?
Sure I partitioned my micro sd with recovery.
Edit:
I've made breakthru with installing 09/10. In dev forum in main CM10 rom topic someone posted method to solve boot loop problem with 09/07 by deleting 05ad2sdx and 06mountext files from rom.
I never had problem with boot loop on that version but I made opposite and copied those 2 files and put to same folder on 09/10 version.
It worked! Now im on 09/10 version.
But guess what... Security still not working
I wish I could ask about it on devs forum right now...

Flashing right now, will post back in a few hours and let you know how it is running.
Edit: Flashing was smooth, installed the MIUI theme from goo.im and then reboot and am getting constant FC's on com.android.phone. As soon as I hit okay to accept it another one pops up. I am not sure if this is theme related or the ROM itself.
Also, there are no GAPPS included but I found them here: http://goo.im/devs/ChameleonOS/gapps
Edit 2: I tried installing the GAPPS from the above link and got stuck in a bootloop.

I found a bug!
When you go in landscape mode, the navbar is completely bugged, and not possible to use.
I can not install any app that needs root, they say that I don't have root, is anyone else facing something like this?

Check that you actually enable root, its not enabled by default so go into about phone and tap build # until it says you are now a developer to unlock the development settings where root is.
Edit- Links updated to new rom versions old versions are being uploaded to mediafire
@cj360 any way u can build this for the mb886 because the xt925 build works great but auto rotation and data wont work properly
Sent from my MB886 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Obviously cause its a different device. But I would rather help someone else build it as xt926,xt925,xt907 have one or two changes between them and when things work on one they'll work on all three and vice versa. As well as I just dont want to build for more than three devices.
Thanks mate, now my only problem is thoso random reboots when I try to listen something with a bluetooth headset
Hello all
I am using the latest insert coin rom(tried all others too) with the latest elemental x kernel(tried different kernels too) the battery life is always bad. The screenshot shows the regular scenario. If I use screen a lot I get 8-10% per hour. I am using the cpu at 1.5ghz downclocked. Everything is hibernated and appops is preventing anything to keep the phone awake. The last option for me is to format the SD, I can't think of anything else. Or my battery is bad.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks.

the RUU must match your phone
fastboot getvar all will give you the information you need to find the correct RUU
http://www.androidruu.com/index.php?developer=M7
You have to use RUU not OTA

Hey guys, how's it going?
Well, I recently bought an HTC One M8. It is the Sprint Variant I believe. So it was an unlocked version with ViperOne 1.7.0 installed. I checked for updates and found there was an update for 1.8.0, to which I instantly updated. I was aware that Viper 2.4.0 is available for the device too, hence my question is if it's okay to update to flash/update full ROMs to this unlocked M8? I am aware that I would lose the unlock on non Sense based ROMs though. So, is there anything I should consider/remember before flashing the full ROM to the device?
Another problem I am facing is with achieving S Off. I am aware about what all of this is as I have always been involved with such things but always with factory unlocked variants. Anyway, I tried the firewater method, for at least 10 times but everytime it says that it can't S Off my device. (Screenshot Attached)

}
Is there something I can do about this? Anyone who had faced this and resolved it?
Other than these two little issues, my final question is that IF in case anything goes wrong, would a Nandroid Backup restore my phone to the current state INCLUDING the SIM Unlock?
In simpler terms, can anyone tell me what all can and can not affect the SIM unlock on my device? Kernels, ROMs, Mods, etc?
I did a lot of search before posting this thread (two nights) and found answers to many other questions and doubts but not to these three. Sorry if these are all actually noob questions. Thank you!
Anyone?

Only way to achieve soff is sunshine in conditions like you. It works like a charm. if you would have problem with sim unlock, Then, flash Bad Boyz rom and follow the instruction at second post. Just past same path 4 days ago
I would definitely do all of this but now I have another problem. I attempted to change runtime on Venom 1.8.0 but now it wouldn't reboot. Doesn't go past "HTC One" screen on boot. Can't try any other ROM because my broadband is having troubles. *sad*

Their is a small zip to change runtime back to dalvik it's your best choice or reflash the Rom next time do a nandroid before doing that. Your phone will not boot because you have a tweak or theme/mod that art doesn't like.. good luck remember the zip is in the read me section of viperrom.

I had a couple of NANDROID backups but they didn't correct the issue either. In the end, I had to wipe system and flash the ROM again. Works fine since then.

Just received an update for Sprint. I'm in northern Indiana.
Was 995MB I believe. Downloaded and updated OTA
Just finished updating. I'll play with it over the weekend and report back if anyone is interested.
(at this point, I really don't care about root or bootloader unlock. I've kinda given up hope for bootloader unlock and figured I'd update since I'll look for another device soon anyway)

I've restarted my phone and then the update message doesn't show up. It does say the download is complete, I tapped "Restart and Install," it counted down from 10 and starting the upgrade then gave me that error message.

I'm not a G4 owner (lurking here trying to decide on my next phone) but it sounds like a bad download. I'd use a file browser and see if you can find the update file on the root of your internal storage. Perhaps deleting it and letting it download again will help. Or update manually as the folks above said.
