Flash firmware
<----- Click Thank Its Easy
How to it won't enter Download Mode or Recovery mode...
That guide got little problem , flashing twrp using odin is for gingerbread, in jelly bean use cocore kernel for twrp and i also got same experience with you but i get into download mode and flash frimware http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=29206 again to fix it .Download the file first and try go into download mode anywhere and flash it ,if cannot go to phone repair shop
Why would you follow such a tedious guide to get TWRP, when you can just flash CoCore kernel with twrp? Well now just try to get into download mode and flash stock jb again.
OK guys thx will try CoCore kernal... I am able to get into Download mode sometimes so guess will flash Stock Firmware from sammobile...
After Stock Firmware=>CoCore Kernal=>Custom ROM
Hope this time it goes right...

In the future look for guides here on XDA, not on some third party sites... You have all explained here, just look good and read.
For future - do not flash GB kernel over any other ROM than on STOCK. Do not flash CM kernel over Stock JB, do not flash stock or CoCore kernel over CM based ROMs.

Well but they didn't mention we can do that with stock recovery so not sure about it..
Can you help me with CWM recovery if there's any for this phone, I found a temporary one but don't know it would be helpful or no... I've used CWM earlier on a phone...
CoCore if is hassle free then will go with that.. Coz another run dunno how it would turn out to be... :cyclops:

I have installed the ehndroix v ROM... They have Superuser built in, so no need for SuperSU.. Thats good..
Now when I use Titanium BackUp, it says the su binary is outdated.. So where to get the new su binary from? how to confirm what version it is and how to update? I know Superuser is not into this, its just a management tool.. So how do I get about it?
Thx in advance

If TB is working then no need to update it...
Ok Thx.. Yes it seems to work.. Like it verified the backups and restored it too.. atleast it started the installer and I did install..
BTW seems all the features I use are working n this Firmware.. However is there a better option than Nova Launcher, I tried GoLauncher but didn't like it much compared to Nova....
Also I found FM Radio missing in this firmware and also the default Music app.. I installed default Music one from F-Droid and also one from PlayStore but where do I get a tuned in Radio? All are internet based... Spirit FM is very expensive... Can you help me to find the stock one for this...
Thx in Advance..
One Learning, since I'm new to Android (correct me if wrong), Dalvik cache can be cleared at will if you want to force android to rebuilt the apps cache for faster loading.. Right?

There is no other FM radio for CM based ROMs. Only Spirit FB, and there is free version too. Look on XDA for developers thread.
You can clear Dalvik cache, and it will rebuild after reboot. But there is cache already, so I think it will not speed up loading more.
Ok so guess, won't be doing the wipe frequently...
Will search xda for Spirit Free...
Last question:
Which launcher do you suggest?
Thx..

i tried searching but couldnt find the exact thing.
i am not too good with the technical aspect of it but have flashed a few roms before(all darky)..
i was going to flash v8.0 using CWM but realised its no longer 2e but a dark voodoo recovery which i dont fully understand.
can i flash darky v8.0(no wipe) using this recovery or will that create a problem???
or is there a way to go back to recovery 2e?
i am sorry for starting an extra thread but i dont have enough posts to ask in his thread and am desperately looking for an answer coz the v9.4 is full of bugs and i dont even want to try v9.5..
waiting for your valued opinion..
thanks in advance..
PS:since im a noob please let your answer be elaborate and not too technical..
No idea you would need to ask Darky .
You can always flash back to stock using Odin wiping that rom .
jje
I think that 8.0 is JPY and 9.4 is JS5. You should install wipe rom to avoid any data corruption. Go to your recovery choose install zip>choose zip>select it and click yes. It should work

thank you so much for your valued suggestions..
i read somewhere that the recovery doesnt matter as long as you flash correctly, for eg i used to have a red lettered CWM &now its white,i read that a no wipe should work...
any way i wont take a chance i think..
also if i flash the no wipe, and data is corrupted it wil brick my phone or cause some running bugs??
sorry for the stupid question but just confirming for future sakes..
thank you once again both of you..
much appreciated..
No wipe will cause force closes

thank you so much for the quick reply,i think i,ll try the no wipe first and if it gives me prob will try the wipe..
thank you so much..
i really have a lot to learn..
EDIT: SORRY but i couldnt find a link for v8.0 in that thread, can someone give me a working link to v8.0(wipe)..
edit: got it thanks..

hey you can first flash back to a stock rom and after that you can download any kernel which supports cwm..after that you can download the cwm package n install, but i recommend you try darkys 9.5. it is aewsomely fast and also contains all major features of a fully functional stable rom..and all the problems of 9.4 are rectified!! hope you do well
cheers!

Thanks for the info but I already flashed v8.0 over darky v9.5 which is still buggy..
It records all my calls, everytime reject an incoming call it shows up as a missed call plus is isn't smooth for me..
Freezes and battery drain plus also the dialer stops working (speed dial doesn't respond)...
I'm happy with v8.0 and good luck to you on the 9.5 coz it isn't worth it for me..
Thanks again though..
Cheers..

No? .... please read Teamhacksung´s thread, it says it all in #1 Post
- First time flashing ICS to your Galaxy S (or coming from another ROM)?
Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery.
Reboot into Recovery using 3-button-combo
Do a Nandroid backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
Optionally install the Google Addon
WIPE again or Calendar Sync will not work.

There are 2 ICS builds,
-Onecosmic's ICS port (I think this one's the fastest because it isn't modified)
-Onecosmic's Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398223
-And Teamhacksung's (This one's very nice modified, but I think it isn't as fast as Onecosmic's)
-Teamhacksung's link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363593

And, you can just flash to a base firmware (from samsung) from (it doesn't matters on which ROM you are), I prefer JW1 as base (It's stable!!)
If you want to download any base, go to sammobile.com, create an account and voila!
Boom ... (I don't know why I say that but I like that..?)
Onecosmic's ICS ROM has been great for me, it is really fast and good as a daily. The only issue is USB connection sometimes it breaks on longer file transfer. I usually use miui rom it works simpler that way then layer ics on top.

Honestly, there really isn't. Each rom has its own little quirky issues.
PAC has no gps and a goofy Hangouts crash, wifi doesn't like to connect after the screen comes on (turn off then back on)
AOSPA works fine for some, not for others, no wifi for some
Slim has no gps, radio signal is bad, random wifi disconnects (fix like PAC usually, sometimes needs reboot)
CM10.1 gps...
All may have occasional lag, wifi issues, gps issues, random bluetooth issues, no camcorder, no HDR camera -- regular and panorama work
Its hit or miss at the moment. One nightly will be fine, next has crap battery, next has better battery but image banding...
None of them suck, but they might not be for you if you dislike development roms that may be incomplete or have a bug or two. Really depends if the bug is a deal breaker or not.
I still go back to clean ROM or the 4.1.2 mex jb ROM everything works and the batt life is a lot better . Also you can install cwm through ROM manager in the play store . Just use the photon q version . I have been able to flash every ROM with it . Make sure you back up b4 you start installing ROMs .

Hello there XDA.
First I would like to apologize if this has already been answered. I searched for the past 3 hours but did not find anything that would fully answer my questions.
So I have a Samsung GT-N7000 Galaxy Note running the stock 4.1.2 LT4 ROM (rooted). The device is unbranded and bought from Germany. Because it lags horribly everywhere, I want to get ICS and the old TouchWiz back, so I decided to downgrade to the latest ICS ROM that has TouchWiz 4, and, after searching, I found that it is N7000XXLRK.
These are my questions:
- what do I have to do to fully wipe the phone before I downgrade to N7000XXLRK, therefore completely removing any traces of older ROMs, in order to do a clean install? Do I have to use some option in PC Odin? Maybe wipe some partitions in Recovery (I have installed PhilZ CWM for LT4)? Cache, data, system, or maybe some others, too?
- what partitions are safe to wipe from CWM and what are not?
- what else should I do to ensure that the new ROM works properly?
- is there anything that needs to be backup-ed, aside from apps (I use TitaniumBackup for that) and all files on the sdcard and external_sd partitions?
I mention that before LT4 I had all Stock 2.3 ROMs, all Stock ICS ROMs 2 AllianceROMs and 3 leaked Jelly Bean ROMs.
Thanks in advance.
See friend... this is Easy, I think as you are on xxlt4 u must be running philz, c.o.h or speedmod//??.. if yes, boot to recovery and go to mount and storage option and then format everything... after that.. go to the bootloader, VOLdown+home+Power.. and then directly flash your ICS ROM, this would be a perfect clean install!!!
hit- THanks please

Hello NoteboyTech.
All right. Thanks for the answer. I will try it. Yes, I am on official XXLT4 with PhilZ CWM, but no custom kernel.
P.S. Have you or anybody else tested this before? I may be a little paranoid but I am afraid not to brick my device, as I have read that some users were unable to use the phone function after formatting /efs or /boot in CWM.

Dear all XDA Developers
i have samsung galaxy note n7000, after we got the official JB update the device went to be so slow, so i choosed to downgrade it to ICS and i download the sogtware image from (www.samsung-updates.com) as i told it should be official software images.
and i downloaded the ODIN v3.09 for pc, connect the phone and install, it fiinished successfully, AFTER that i start to got the error, the phone shutdown suddenley and got the screen said "RST_STAT 0x2000000 User Fault, not kernel panic, upload mode"
i tried to install again and still have the same error the it is random no specific time, then i download and install the Philz and wipe the phone as for install a new ROM and install the same image then got the same error after two days.
my request is how to solve this problem and where to download an official ICS for my GT-N7000
i hope to find the solution here in XDA developers
best regards
No one can help??!!!!
Is this issue so difficult and there is no solution or any idea about solving it??
It depends on how you choose. Going your path back to official ics could be problematic. So i would just go forward install a custom jb rom such as Aryamod then the problem is solved and u will have a beautiful and fast rom. Done.

Also, stock ics is known to brick phones.
as i got the official JB via update the device is too slow, so would that problem solved when installing a custom rom? and which rom should i choose? and the problem now is with the device hardware? or just the ics??
as i searched before it on the internet i found that this is a GPS problem!! how can i check that please??

Did you read my post at all? It has got most of the answers. Trying to flash a custom jb using Philz kernel you already have is quite easy

1stly, After getting JB update from OTA, it's recommended to do a factory wipe in stock recovery (This is what Samsung CS told me). I tried and it works (at the expense of having all my data n apps gone).
2nd, Like @forest1971 says, there's many good custom Roms And you can choose per your liking. I strongly oppose going back to ICS as of the brick bug threat. If you really want to downgrade, might as well go for GB.
3rd, WHAT is the point of our good Dev's spending their precious time and cracking their heads to come up with a custom rom IF they are not BETTER than Stock roms?

Installing through odin is the best method for flashing stock rom. You have done it right. Just remember NEVER to do a factory reset anywhere with ICS. Not even in recovery
