dev edition will ever update fast it's advantage
if you are eager to do this than there is secure way
You need S off change cid + use stock reset Rom of dev edition @ htc1guru then update upto sense 6
Mid change is risky + mid and firmware is much more risky
S Off is essential
Or you can try mid + 4.2.2 ruu

Ok, thanks a lot, I think I'll just chill Cus I actually converted from AT&T to EU first thinking their update is fastest

I have AT&T too, I took the easy way out. I semi-converted my phone to the US DEV EDition. I followed vomer's guide to unlock my bootloader, s-off'd, changed my cid to supercid(11111111)and installed twrp 2.6.3.3. Then I installed us dev firmware 5.11.1540.9. After, I searched the forums to find a stable rom that was based on the us dev firmware. I won't be able to get ota updates, but I can just do it manually. If want help pm me.

It is a lot easier to change your MID with @Golv tool MID change without ENG HBOOT. You do need to be S-OFF for this and to fully convert to Dev ED. I would follow @nkk71 thread SuperGUIDE to returning 100% back to stock. Read both threads very carefully and follow their instructions to the letter.

Change cid + stock Dev edition Rom nandroid backup + stock recovery + check for ota will help you

Reverting Back from Google Edition !

So, first of all i want to say that i wouldn`t have written here if i hadn`t tried every possible way. I want to know where i did wrong, because this is the case and i wand to ask for your help.
The situation : I flashed the google edition to my htc one, it was fine, and i didn`t quite like it so i wanted to go back.
Now the show starts. I flashed Hboot 1.44, got the old bootloader back, and then when i tried to flash the old ruu zip it says : couldnt allocate 1034027008bytes. Also i have tried the exe file and it stops right at the start and says connection interrupted or some sort like this and it doesn`t continue.
I have S-off, unlocked bootloader. I had stock 4.2.2 with htc__001 cid, and twrp as recovery and of course it was rooted. I flashed the Google Edition after i put the stock recovery.
Thank you in advance for all your help.

What phone is it? Developer Edition?
First thing is to change your CID to a Super CID 11111111
Then you need the proper RUU file for the phone. If its an ATT version
you can flash the 4.3 Developer Edition RUU on the HTC site.

Then your Hboot 1.44 may not be the correct one. PM me with your email and I will give
you the correct one.

I have tried once again with the 1.44 Hboot and the zip from htc official website , the developer edition one.
Still no luck.
With the help of cc999 i managed to revert back to 4.3 Developer Edition.
Apparently there was a mess in my adb and usb drivers.
So i managed to install the 4.3 Developer Edition on another laptop and it worked just fine.
Thank you again cc999 for the support.
You should use the stock recovery to flash the ruu.exe. Makes life so much easier!

[Q] Developer Edition flashed to GPE, back to Stock?

I know, this question is asked a lot but I haven't been able to find any threads that reflect my exact situation so please hear me out!
I have a Developer Edition from launch and recently wanted to try out making it a Google Play Edition, so I did that.
Got S-Off, unlocked, rooted, flashed with the GPE RUU
However I find myself missing the camera features and now that 4.3 is out and with rumors of Sense 5.5 I'd like to go back to Sense
Here's where I'm confused: My custom recovery is gone since flashing the RUU and my bootloader now says that it's locked, even though it's a Developer Edition. I understand that the Google Play Edition doesn't come with an unlocked bootloader so my assumption is that the RUU simply resets it.
Here's my tl;dr version of the question: Do I need to go through the whole unlocking process to go back to sense? Can I just flash the RUU for the Developer Edition and automatically get my unlocked bootloader back? I didn't change the CID or any of that, all I did was flash the RUU.
Thanks for any help!!
Edit: The only thing truly confusing me is the fact that the bootloader got locked (or so that's what is says)

Do you still have s-off? Then you can flash a dev edition RUU to get back sense.. If you want to keep s-off, flash a 4.1.2 RUU, get s-off and then ota update to the latest version.
When you flash the dev RUU, you'll get back your unlocked bootloader.

Some say you lose s-off, some say you don't..Afaik, an RUU is the safest way to go back to s-on. So to be on the safer side get the dev edition RUU for a 4.1.2 base and flash it.. If you lose s-off use Revone, then ota update to the latest 3.xx base. This will also update your hboot to 1.55, so make sure you're s-off before upgrading, as 1.55 cannot be s-offed yet.
Ps: Always use the thanks button

You need to downgrade the HBOOT first following post #2 in the GPe conversion thread, and then flash the RUU. You will NOT lose S-OFF but you will lose all data on the phone so back it up first

So considering I'm S-Off with the GPE RUU flashed, hboot 1.54
Will the S-Off allow me to directly flash the 4.3 RUU exe from htcdev? Will I maintain S-Off?
I'm just a bit confused now as you guys somewhat told me the opposite things, I appreciate the help though, getting great information

I'm not sure, here's what I found today...
I was running the leaked Sense 5.5 system dump and FW and wanted to go back to the 1.28.401.7 RUU so I could get the official update. Not an issue I thought as I'd just flash it and away I go as I'd done in the past when on hboot 1.54. It gave the 155 error about not being the right RUU even though I'm S-OFF. So I flashed the hboot in the GPe conversion thread #2 which put it back to 1.44 and the RUU worked fine so it must be something with the new 1.55 hboot that stops it working. I can't be certain but it worked for me

Hmm, I have hboot 1.54 not 1.55, so it sounds like I may be able to flash right to 4.3 with the .exe (at least from what I understand)
If it is incompatible it should just give me an error, correct?
I'm willing to take the extra steps but if they're not totally necessary then I'd much prefer to just go down the simpler path
Also, I've got CID BS_US001, what are the benefits of changing it to supercid? Would I get OTAs such as the Sense 5.5 faster?
Hopefully I'm not being a pain, I'm trying my best to learn.
You should be fine on that HBOOT, just try it and if it works it works! If not, you'll get an error and then you just following the second post in the GPe conversion thread

Yep, go ahead and try, if it gives you an error, post back.
AFAIK, the dev edition BS_US001 gets OTAs the quickest, so you could keep it at that. SuperCID will allow you to flash any RUU/OTA, even of a different region/MID/CID
Nope, you're not being a pain We're all trying to learn and help here
Good news, I tried flashing the 4.3 RUU exe from HTCDev and it wouldn't work so I just took the longer route and flashed 1.44 hboot, flashed stock 4.1 RUU and then exe flashed up to 4.3
So I'm back on Sense and I'm happy, the only thing that was a slight setback was my bootloader, for some reason it did not unlock after flashing the Brightstar RUU so I went through the process on HTC dev and reflashed the 4.3 RUU to get back the flashlight and other apps lost through the unlocking process. Maybe I should have unlocked it through fastboot while on the GPE ROM? Not sure, but either way I'm back on Sense, bootloader unlocked and S-Off maintained so a huge huge THANK YOU from me.
Now I'm just waiting for Sense 5.5!
You guys are awesome :good:

Newbie move I suppose  haha
I've been rooting and flashing ROMs on my Androids since the G1/Dream believe it or not, but with every new phone/manufacturer there's always new terminology and steps to be taken so I feel like I start over every single time, which honestly isn't much of a bad thing, keeps things exciting (even though HTC made the G1 but that was what feels like ages ago now)
Thanks again guys, it's hard not to feel intimidated but it's been an extremely pleasant experience learning from you. This is why xda is by far the best site you can find for these things.
Cheers

HTC One Developer Edition updates/conversion?

I understand that the only differences between HTC One and developer edition is the storage and the unlocked bootloader. I have got HTC Unlocked International Edition (32 GB) from Amazon. Now the KitKat update is going to be released 60 days earlier to the dev edition. Is there a way to convert to a dev edition to receive future updates faster? Would unlocking the bootloader turn the phone into a dev edition? Or those handsets receive the updates according to IME, serial or something? Thanks in advance!
Here's the short version on how to properly convert to Dev Edition and retain future OTA updates. Make sure to back up any data or files on the phone you don't want to lose, as this will wipe your phone and make it like new. Find your current APN settings and write them down just in case your carrier isn't shown as an option when first booting your phone after converting.
Unlock bootloader via HTCDev.com
S-Off (method varies depending on bootloader version, but most would use Rumrunner)
Change CID to BS_US001
If your MID is anything other than PN712000, change it to that.
Run RUU exe file for Dev Edition (available for download on HTCDev.com)
You can leave the bootloader unlocked and S-Off.

Will this method change to developer edition and will ensure future OTA released for the Developer Edition? Thanks!
Yes it will get OTA , if the last step is to run RUU for Dev edition.
If you install custom recovery/root on top of it, then you will have isssues with OTA.

No you do not. As per the post from EsJayEs , you only need to change CID to BS_US001
To add to that, there's no reason to ever use superCID. It's takes less than a minute to change your CID. And this is part of what ensures you receive OTA updates.

Thanks... It seems like it's not so common for people to convert to Developer Edition, all the search results I'm getting is about converting to-from GPE. Is that so uncommon right?
It's fairly common. For people on carrier branded phones that like the Sense user interface, the options are Dev Edition or International. Dev Edition has the advantage of significantly faster updates. International version has no real advantage that I know of. At the moment, the international version has a newer version of Sense, but they'll be waiting until January for Android 4.4. But those using the Dev Edition should receive that update any day now (including the updated version of Sense).

I have the international version, but I will convert to Dev Ed once the 4.4 update (RUU) is released. Usually when the OTA update is released, the RUU is released at the same time? This is my first HTC phone, so I'm clueless
Hard to say. If they release the RUU, it could be a few days or weeks after the OTA is being pushed. But the OTA will almost definitely come first. If you were to convert now, you'd have verification that your work was done properly when the OTA is pushed and successfully installs.

At any point do I need to install a custom recovery? I'm not going to root at the moment. What's the best and easy method to install/flash the RUU?

You will need to custom recovery & root to gain S-Off, but once you have ran the dev RUU and the phone is converted, you will not need to root/recovery again.

You do not need to install custom recovery.or root. Once you have S-Off (download and use the latest version of Rumrunner http://rumrunner.us/downloads-2/ for this), change your CID to BS_US001 and change your MID to PN712000.
Change your MID using the information here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2322820
Changing your CID using the Fastboot command
Code:
fastboot oem writecid BS_US001
After that, run the RUU program downloaded from here http://dl4.htc.com/RomCode/Source_a...3_SENSE50_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_3.22.1540.1.exe
Again, custom recovery and root are not required (or even useful) for this process. I strongly prefer not to use any custom recovery because it makes future OTA updates impossible.

Thanks again for your response, the MID is mentioned in other posted slightly different than the one you mentioned here - PN0712000. Which one is correct? Or is there no difference between PN712000 and PN0712000? My current MID is PN0714000

Also do I need to relock the bootloader at any stage of the process?
Rumrunner S-OFF must have the phone rooted and requires custom recovery. Can I unroot and install stock recovery before flashing the RUU? Or Installing the RUU will overwrite the custom recovery and installing stock recovery and removing root? If I have to flash the stock recovery to overwrite the custom one, how to do so? Where can I find the compatible latest version of stock recovery?
Do I need to downgrade the hboot at any point? I'm running Windows 8.1 -if that's relevant.

Thanks a lot for your response! Just to confirm MID for HTC One Developer Edition is it PN712000 or PN0712000? Or there is no difference.

yes it makes a difference
It's PN0712000
http://xda7.androidrevolution.nl/db_mirror/ROMs/HTC_One/variants.png
and iirc correctly, you may need to use an engineering hboot to change mid, if the normal hboot doesnt work.
EDIT: an be careful with engineering hboot, they have some very powerful commands, that could brick your phone. i think there's a guide somewhere around here, but i don't have the link right now

[Q] Can I flash other RUU with S-OFF and super cid?

My Htc One is S-OFF with super cid "11111111" hboot 1.44 and latest radio.
the original cid was TIM_401 something from Italy which I didn't found the RUU over the internet for it, so from day 1 using custom roms (viper one)
Actually I was a iPhoner for many years just few months ago upgraded to "android" so I am pretty new in all this.
I wonder if it possible for example to flash the us developer edition RUU which receive very quickly OTA updates from HTC on my HTC one? and covert my phone to full developer edition?
and another question if I flash the stock rom using fastboot this will upgrade my HBOOT/Radio too?
Sorry for my newb question

s-off you can flash any decrypted RUU.zip by simple edit of the android-info.txt to match your phone (use fastboot getvar all)
Rom will not update firmware (hboot/radio) - RUU will

first flash this firmware
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/3-22-1540-1_firmware-zip/
change your CID to: BS_US001
Then you can use this guru reset to change to a developer edition ->> http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_3-22-1540-1-zip/
Choose to flash stock recovery and no root and you'll have a stock developer edition One.
I don't think you need it but if you do
download Guru Bootloader Reset from here: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_boo...reset_1-0-zip/
If Ive missed anything someone please chime in

here are some links, if you're going to use a signed/encryped ruu, then you'll need to downgrade hboot first https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407580580

Thanks. Whats the difference between signed and unsigned?

considering you are s-off,
very little, but even with s-off, you will first need to downgrade hboot to same or lower version than the signed ruu.exe/ruu.zip
on the other hand, a decrypted ruu.zip doesn't have that restriction
a small chart is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52135024&postcount=2

So my process will be...
1. Downgrade hboot to 1.44
2. Change back my cid to HTC__002 (when i flashed the RUU from the GPE i changed it to GOOGL001)
3. Flash the RUU zip
Is that right?

you don't have to go back to hboot 1.44
If your RUU is 4.xx flash a 3.xx firmware first
or 3.xx RUU a 3.xx or 2.xx firmware will work.
you may also need the MID change tool if you changed it also
MID_Change_1.01.zip

The 1.28.401.7 is Jelly Bean it's equal to a 3.xx.xxx.x RUU
So the Firmware you would want is this http://xda7.androidrevolution.org/db_mirror/Firmware/HTC/HTC_One/401/2.24.401.8.zip
