I have a T-Mobile Galacy S5 Unlocked that I am using with my carrier AT&T. Is it somehow possible to remove entire t-mobile software and convert it to a 100% AT&T Phone???? If yes, how???
Post this question TMo S5 forums. You could find better help there.
The best you could do is install some ROM like alliance ROM, use Tibu or some root explorer to take off all TMo specific apps. You could use their on bundled settings, or use Xposed framework to theme it on lines of AT&T.

i have a TMO S5 and I am on ATT, I just run an international ROM and its the best thing ever, you get no bloat from carriers on it. You can flash international S5 ROMs on the TMO version once you ROOT and Custom Recovery

can you run straight talk sim on the T-Mobile using AT&T straight talk APN settings or does it have to be unlocked too?

The phone will recognize a different carrier sim has been installed and will not pick up a network connection until you pay a 3rd party for a code to SIM unlock it or have it on T-Mobile for 45 days (I Think that is the time period) and they will unlock it for free.
When I checked, for a prepaid SIM, you should've recharged it with atleast $100 in total for them to unlock.

All you do is put a different micro sim in and boot up the phone. Upon booting it asks for a network unlock code. Whoever the phone is through, call them and get the unlock code for free. I was in the military before and have gotten sim unlock codes for free when I tell them I'm going overseas and want to take the phone with me. You don't have to pay any third party if you don't want to. Just call T-Mobile or AT&T.

That works with proper account history. Like, on AT&T, I can get mine unlocked with no issues just like that whenever I want. But I'm first time TMo user, that too prepaid, there is a cumulative recharge of $100 requirement. If I was postpaid, there would be a 45 day wait. I felt it cheaper to pay 25 for unlock than recharge for 100.

I tried doing that with at&t but since I am under contract, they will not unlock it. Periodically, I do have international travel with my job and explained that to them. Their response was that I should have coverage wherever I go.

You need it unlocked if you are running any SIM aside from a TMO one, If stright talk uses the same bands as ATT then you should just be able to place the Straight Talk APN and get your signal working

So my wife and I have been using unlocked phones on our grandfathered AT&T medianet unlimited data plans for over two years now. About six months ago I bought her an Exhibit 4G and unlocked it to work on AT&T. Just recently she got the dreaded you need a data plan text message on her phone. So she got bumped to a 2GB data plan.
I'm not sure how AT&T caught on since it wasn't one of there phones and she doesn't really do much else besides check Facebook and text.
Anyone else using this on AT&T?
once you put a sim card into it, AT&T knows your using a phone on their network. so they wanted you to have a data plan, they sent the message to your number which is accociated with your sim card.

Did you install a custom ROM. If on stock then carrier IQ may have some hi g to do with that.

whats the closest resemblance to this phone on the verizon network?
Same thing happened to me...they put me on a 3GB plan automatically. Took them about 2 months to get me...

Just wondering...what kind of speeds you are getting on the AT&T network? I've played around with several APN settings I've found on here and none have improved my download speeds (always says 3G)...which are around 0.25 MBPS.
Spent some time on "chat" with ATT and am going ot try a new SIM card. Mine is an older one with 3G on it. I tried to get my plan changed (and I think this is the problem) to a LTE plan but the ATT rep couldn't get the "system" to accept the change for some reason.
The droid maxx its sim free out of the box. The Att sim works on a Verizon droid maxx I was wondering if the moto x from Att was sim free too. I want to buy this device customized from moto maker but use it on tmo. Can anyone with a moto x and have a friend with a tmo sim try this please. See if it picks h+ at least

Cant you get an unlock code off eBay? Perhaps cellunlocker will offer an unlocking service. I remember I unlocked my AT&T Optimus G Pro with them when I got it in the UK for around $8/£5.

Friend of mine is already trying with CellUnlocker. Will report back if it works or not. He already tried UnlockUnit but they refunded after trying for a week. Looks like Att is making it even harder this time due to motomaker exclusivity.

To unlock just pay 1.25 on fusionunlock.com ( is not my site - i get no cash to refer this site ! ) don't pay cellunlocker or any others website... you get no service at great price !
edit : My friend with att just comfirm me all work great with unlock code of this site !

We are in the US on Att, so whatever works in Canada for the Rogers units probably won't work for us. If you have used Fusionunlock.com, can you show a screenshot if it says worthing about unlocking the Att version? Their website requires a username and password, and I don't want to sign up just to see the details.
I know a unlock services would work unlocking the phone. My question is if the Att moto x would at least pick H+ after unlocking. If it has the tmo bands. That's the question. The only way to know is by popping in a tmo sim card.

Alternative: You can buy a T-Mobile S5, sim unlock and use on AT&T. T-Mo has unlocked bootloader...I did this and it works perfectly.

See people on the Galaxy S4 that are still looking for an exploit. It's highly unlikely bootloader unlock happens. Root is quite the long-shot as well.

I wish there was a more active way to contribute despite having no developer background.
I know I'd be more than willing to do some seriously tedious code checking among other things if i knew it would help the cause.
Maybe buy some dynamite see if i can blow off the bootloader lock.. who knows?

The T-Mobile S5 is worth more because of the unlocked bootloader. You can sell the AT&T S5 for about $550 and get a mint T-Mobile S5 for the same price if you're lucky and negotiate on Swappa. Then you'll have to unlock it for about $30. Its all worth it in my opinion.

The thing is the T-Mobile S5 will almost always show a full signal bar. When I had the TMO S5 it would show 4-5 bars with a -100-110 dbm signal. ATT signal is much stronger and therefore it will almost always show five bars with a -90, -80-dbm signal.

I can see your point on this one. If the phone is unlocked then you'd be fine. You would be getting service with AT&T, not T-Mobile or Sprint lol.
What I'm kinda worried about is that the S5 becomes a phone with wasted potential kind of like the Optimus G was due to lack of root

I have never understood the mentality of "just go buy it from another carrier." Some do not have $650 just laying around to make that happen. Another thing I don't seem to understand is all the dislike of subsidiaries. I have been with AT&T for over 10 years and never had an issue. My bill does not seem to be affected when I get an upgrade either, so I don't see the logic of paying full price for a phone from another carrier and remain on another one. It would seem like I am paying more out of pocket that way.

TBH, you'd be better off buying a HTC One ATT/T-Mo variant since (I think, but haven't looked up) all frequencies work on it.
Anyways, you should be able to just insert the SIM and you should be good to go. Make sure you go into your Mobile Network settings, and change the mode to GSM. Alternatively you could go into testing (*#*#4636#*#*) and change the mode to something like WCDMA preferred.

You need to unlock the phone. It is SIM-locked to AT&T
To get it unlocked through at&t I need an account number and all that. I'm a Verizon customer so I don't have that information. I just bought the phone retail at an att. I heard you can unlock through 3rd party. Are there any recommended sites?
