TBH, you'd be better off buying a HTC One ATT/T-Mo variant since (I think, but haven't looked up) all frequencies work on it.
Anyways, you should be able to just insert the SIM and you should be good to go. Make sure you go into your Mobile Network settings, and change the mode to GSM. Alternatively you could go into testing (*#*#4636#*#*) and change the mode to something like WCDMA preferred.

Apparently they now carry 4G SIM cards to allow access to their LTE network (see here). The details are a little sketchy, though, and I wouldn't bank on it working.
If you're really interested in doing this, I would suggest going directly to a Verizon store and speaking with someone there. Maybe even see if they'll let you test it out (probably not, but it can't hurt to ask).
The only other Verizon sim cards I found were international ones that allowed roaming on Vodafone's network. Since Verizon in the US uses CDMA for its non-4G network, SIM cards don't work. With a non-4G SIM card you would end up piggybacking on some other carrier's network.
That's my understanding, anyway.
Okay I have a droid incredible 2 it got damaged but it has a sim card its not 4g either so yeah

That's one of the international sim cards, which basically just lets it hop on GSM networks internationally when it doesn't have Verizon's US CDMA network.
So you mean its not possible

I can't say for certain. You would need to talk to someone at Verizon and ask them if their international GSM sim cards work here in the states.
My guess is that they'll tell you it will work, but since you would be essentially roaming all the time you're using it, it would be either costly or they wouldn't do it. Again, I'm not a Verizon employee, so I can't say that's 100% accurate, but that's my gut reaction.
Yeah ok makes sence my incredible 2 can only go into safe mode thats why I ask this

Have you tried putting the sim card on your captivate to see what happens?
Yes but verizon is so protective you have to have them activate it through the phones imei

Unfortunately verizon does not like you to be able to use at&t on there global phones so afaik there's no way to make it work.
hello i have a question
im ordering a htc vivid. i currently have a htc inspire
when i recieve it can i just switch my inspire sim card and put it in the vivid and it will work while the vivid sim card would work in the inspire?
thanks
First of all what carrier are you with ? Any others, you are fine. (Vivid needs to be UNLOCK).
With ATT, you are better off getting a new SIM that is LTE ready (Regardless if your area has LTE signal or not) - In which will of course work on Inspire & Vivid - That's just my opinion - You can still use your old sim card if you decide to do nothing. You'll always get HSPA+ signal only.
Not to hate on the above post but you dont need a New sim I've been using the same sim since my inspire the only thing is you need to do is switch your plan to LTE that's the only thing that needs to be changed

Thanks for the replys
I have att.I'm not trying to switch plans or anything.I'm fine with my network and signals I have now I just want to know if after I'm done setting up the HTC vivid with the sim card that comes with it it will work when I switch sim cards

The LTE similar is fancy though. But no you don't need one unless your in an LTE city.
I dont think LTE cost more. Just easier to go over your data cap. I don't know. Though. I've been on the same contract for years and years. So long I get an upgrade every year.

Retail stores will give you one. Corporate stores will probably charge you. All they do is convert your current data plan to an equivalent plan that's coded LTE in their system. As far as i know this is what gives you access to the pta APN that allows you to use LTE
Couldn't you just go to APN settings and create an APN?
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using xda premium
I did the same thing (switched from Inspire to Vivid). You will need to make sure you do have an LTE approved SIM. It shouldn't cost you a dime to do. If your SIM is recent odds are you are fine.
I did have to call and have them check the settings on their side. I was not getting LTE and I live in an LTE area. So a 10min phone call fixed it.

If you have unlimited data and want to keep it you are going to need to upgrade to the lte sim.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1455702&page=1
If you aren't on unlimited then I don't think it will matter. You can run with the sim from your inspire.
Dear lord quit trying to confuse the op, the hspa sim and the LTE sim are the same if you got a new sim when you got your inspire which you pretty much had to , if you aren't in an LTE area don't worry about switching your plan , if you are you can make a two min phone call and they will provision your current data to LTE it doesn't matter if its unlimited or not you will still keep unlimited
....and boom goes the dynamite....

Ok... So you're thinking about buying an unlocked phone that was originally a Verizon phone but was used on T-Mobile that you want to use on AT&T? That is a bit convoluted, each vendor uses different bits of spectrum and a Verizon phone isn't a pure GSM phone such as AT&T or T-Mobile might have, I would be cautious, why not just get an unlocked AT&T device?
That being said, if it can be used on a GSM network like T-Mobile it should work on AT&T, the problem being that - as I said - each carrier uses different bits of the spectrum.
Save yourself the potential hassle and buy the proper AT&T model.
Yeah i am being cautious I'm passing on it thanks for the responses

I have a T-Mobile Galacy S5 Unlocked that I am using with my carrier AT&T. Is it somehow possible to remove entire t-mobile software and convert it to a 100% AT&T Phone???? If yes, how???
Post this question TMo S5 forums. You could find better help there.
The best you could do is install some ROM like alliance ROM, use Tibu or some root explorer to take off all TMo specific apps. You could use their on bundled settings, or use Xposed framework to theme it on lines of AT&T.

The phone will recognize a different carrier sim has been installed and will not pick up a network connection until you pay a 3rd party for a code to SIM unlock it or have it on T-Mobile for 45 days (I Think that is the time period) and they will unlock it for free.
When I checked, for a prepaid SIM, you should've recharged it with atleast $100 in total for them to unlock.

All you do is put a different micro sim in and boot up the phone. Upon booting it asks for a network unlock code. Whoever the phone is through, call them and get the unlock code for free. I was in the military before and have gotten sim unlock codes for free when I tell them I'm going overseas and want to take the phone with me. You don't have to pay any third party if you don't want to. Just call T-Mobile or AT&T.

That works with proper account history. Like, on AT&T, I can get mine unlocked with no issues just like that whenever I want. But I'm first time TMo user, that too prepaid, there is a cumulative recharge of $100 requirement. If I was postpaid, there would be a 45 day wait. I felt it cheaper to pay 25 for unlock than recharge for 100.

I tried doing that with at&t but since I am under contract, they will not unlock it. Periodically, I do have international travel with my job and explained that to them. Their response was that I should have coverage wherever I go.

You need it unlocked if you are running any SIM aside from a TMO one, If stright talk uses the same bands as ATT then you should just be able to place the Straight Talk APN and get your signal working

Hey guys i had to gwt my hands onecone. Im a verizon customer and i couldnt wait tovget lucky for an unlocked one . Is it possible for me to get this thing to work . i dont have a nano yet. Trying to get a friend of mine from a verizon store to help me out there. If thays the case, will the nano sim card work for me or no ? Im on wifi and i love this thing !!!!!
You need to unlock the phone. It is SIM-locked to AT&T
To get it unlocked through at&t I need an account number and all that. I'm a Verizon customer so I don't have that information. I just bought the phone retail at an att. I heard you can unlock through 3rd party. Are there any recommended sites?

If you're a Vzw customer, get a Vzw nano Sim.
I'm battling the same thing. I'm a Verizon customer and bought the phone outright through AT&T on a friends account. Went to cellunlocker.net and waiting for them to go through another database for an unlock code
Just got word from art that December 4 they will loosen the requirements to getting it unlocked for free. Which may help us
