Hello. I have quite the issue, the phone's MicroUSB has seemed to stopped working. I remember one night I plugged it in the laptop to charge it and got an windows error, like the port failed, but I was too busy to handle it so I left it like that.
I should mention that I used that option "Usb fastcharge" from kernel.. Is it possible my port is broken? It won't charge now at all.. I tried different cables to no avail. Previously I had to move the cable into socket and I could get it charging, but now.. nothing.
If I plug it in the laptop, I have the monitor attached on HDMI and for some reason it disconnects the monitor while I have the phone plugged in. Also it changes the laptop's brightness while I have it plugged. Seems so weird, I don't have warranty on it.
Also if I simply leave it plugged into the wall charger/usb port, the phones MicroUSB just heats up. I get no charging indicator or anything.
Anyone been through this?

When I first got the phone earlier this week, I could plug it into the charger in the wall just fine with no issues, it would just charge. Now suddenly it started telling me USB connected and goes to the MTP screen and of course locks up the phone.
I can of course bypass this by switching the phone to mass storage mode, but since I have Kies and use it occasionally, it would be nice to not have to switch that setting each time depending on my charging/syncing situation.
Why would it have not locked it up with the MTP screen originally when charging from the wall but now it does? The results are the same whether its plugged into the wall or the USB port on the computer. I have two Captivates bought brand new on a family plan, both do this now with any combination of chargers and USB cables, wall USB port, or car charger. Neither one has a common application installed since the other is my girlfriends who hasnt done much to it yet, so Im blaming the phone itself for now...

Interesting. I just checked with my BB charger and they dont do it using that charger, but they do it as soon as I connect the stock charger again.
Im wondering if its a voltage sensing circuit thats tripping due to the different voltages which should be applied - either wall charger or USB port. Maybe for some reason my wall chargers arent putting out enough voltage and its thinking its a USB port, but the BB charger is putting the right amount of voltage out?
Am I on base as to how it differentiates between wall or USB port? The number of pins obviously doesnt matter as all the cables have all the pins in them, unlike some charger cables which only have the power and ground. The only thing I can think of is that it uses the amount of voltage/current to tell the difference and create its reaction.

Sounds like a problem with the stock charger, maybe usb cable alignment. My iphone wall adapter does this with the samsung cable but the samsung wall adapter doesn't, same with my car charger from att. Also I have a $5 walmart car charger that has a cable that splits into both a mini usb and a micro usb that isn't a real usb cable, it's charge only. That cable has no problem on any wall or car adapter. I believe the phone detects if its connected by checking voltage on a data pin (just a guess really) so if a nonstock charger is used it assumes that it is a computer. But it may also be a data signal that is given off by the charger.

did you try a new charger and if so, did it work? I've had my captivate since Thursday and on Thursday it charged and everything fine, but then yesterday,
a) no computer I connect it to while recognize it, no matter what I have it set too and have latest drivers installed
b) if I charge it, after I unplug it, it locks up to black screen and I have to remove the battery to get it to work
c) I also have an in-dash touchscreen monitor in my car that has a usb port because it works with an ipod. I plugged the usb into to use it as a car charger, unplugged it, same thing
d) it did say usb connected after it was unplugged, but I switched from mass storage to ask on connection and it went away
so is an actual wall charger the solution?

and now I unplug it, and if it locks, it will not unlock, just black screen
I have to take out the battery and then only way to get it to turn back on, is to plug it back in the wall

^^^Ouch that's not right, if you can't figure it out you may need to re-flash or just bring it back under warranty, or insurance

after years of not issue, yesterday my note stop charging in the outlet chargers, I have several all do not charge it but have no issues charge my wifes phone.
but I can charge the phone with the same orig cable when the usb is my computer and not the outlet.

I cleaned everything, it is a new battery

I have tried 4 different adapter/cords combos ( just in my house) none of them charge my phone in an outlet - all work with my wife's smaller samsung in output. so weirdly only a direct usb with the oem cord to computer works ( in both my desk and laptop). so weird. so annoying.
You have to buy a new charging port, and the board that comes with it. This is a link to the part you need. If you search "n7000 charging port flex ribbon" you should be able to find other places that have it. http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-samsung-galaxy-note-gt-n7000-charging-port-flex-cable-ribbon.html
So, I have the official Sony DK48 dock for my Z3 Compact (no case). The phone will recognize that it is connected to the dock by giving the notification sound, but the battery will not charge while on it. I've tried wiggling it all sorts of different ways, and tried at least 3 different USB cables, but still no dice.
Is anyone else having this issue?
Have you used original cable? I had this problem with some poor quality cables, they were too thin inside for the designed current
plug it in the mains...

With 'mains' you can mean so many things.
I guess you mean plug the cable in an electrical outlet, rather then in a computer. I believe that I had the same issue. (Worked fine in an outlet)
The DK48 will only charge the phone when power comes from the mains. It does not charge the phone when connected to a USB port of a PC or laptop.
Use the original charger and the original cable that came with your phone and the Z3/Z3C should charge just fine in the DK48; that's at least what my does.
Yes all of my attempts occurred while plugging the dock into the AC adapter that came with the phone.
I guess then it seems like its a faulty DK48...
It should work with the original cable, adapter and electric outlet (not a PC).
Why wouldn't the DK48 charge through PC? How does it know? Amperes?
The input from the computer is too low even when you plug the USB to 3.0 port... Unfortunately you MUST use wall charger for the DK48 to be working.

I am a bit late in this thread, but I will post it anyway in case somebody has the same problem. Dk48 won't charge phone while connected to PC, because it checks if data lanes in Micro USB port are used. If they are, charging is stopped. If someone wants to charge phone using dock connected to PC (I for example connect it to my active USB hub, which is connected to my PC) it is necessary to use Micro USB cable, which doesn't use data lanes, just charging ones.
I hope it will help somebody.
Hello
My phone thinks its charging when I connect the USB, but actually loses power even though I'm not using it. Then when I remove the USB cable, it still says its charging. Even after reboot, it still thinks it is charging. Only way to remove the charging icon is to hold volume up button + power button untill it vibrates 3 times
Only way to charge it is through the magnetic cable I bought for it. But even when I remove this cable, it says its still charging,
When the phone reaches 100%, there is no problem whatsoever with the connection detection etc. It all works fine.
This started just out of the blue, already tried the PC Companion app to restore it to original firmware.
Funny thing is, I can still use the usb port to exchange data etc, it just wont charge. And it gives false information about it charging while there is nothing attached to it.
Thanks in advance
U will gwt unlimited battery like that
Lucky!
How did u do that?
Wish that was true! Wish that it indeed could pull power out of thin air
BTW; I tried to adjust the microusb tongue en cleaned it out, even with a air pressure can blowing into it. Still no luck.
When I connect a USB cable without putting the adapter into the wall socket, It doesn't register as charging. Only when I put the adapter into the wall it says its charging, after this it doesn't matter if I pull the usb cable out. It still says charging

Hmmm... I'm not very sure if it's a hardware or a software issue... try using flashtool instead of PCC just in case!
Regards,

What is Flashtool? I haven't even rooted this device. Will try a totally different rom
Well, I've had the USB-charging port replaced. Still same issue!
So i am having this problem, wonder if anyone else is also. I reported it to samsung.
The problem is when using a car charge my phone will say charging like normal. BUT then it will says "powering connected usb device".
It will say this the whole time it is charging.
Its a 5v 2amp charger i am using a micro usb cable with the included usb c adapter.
I use the this same charger for my s7 edge without problems.
Now the kicker here. Once i unplug the note 7 from the charger it will keep to saying "powering connected usb device"
The battery icon will flip between the power out icon and normal battery.
The first time it did i had to reboot the phone so it would stop.
The next time it went away after a few minutes.
I havent try using a usb c cable, but will later today.
Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. Its probably OS related or have something to do with the adapters.
Just wondering if anyone else has this problem
The included micro-usb-to-usbc adapter seems to inhibit the charging speed. I used the adapter with an official Samsung Micro USB cable that came with my Note 5 and plugged it into a Samsung fast charger and the charging takes forever... Maybe you're experiencing a similar symptom?

Its possible. Today i drove for about 20mins and i didnt have this problem. It charged but only went up 3% more. I should of gotten at lest 5-6% with that charger (amount i would of gotten with my s7 edge, same charger in cable)
I will do a test today with the usb c cbale plug right into the usb adapter. I only have the one for the time being
Well the problem is still here.
My wife gotnher phone and the same thing.
She needed to charger her phone.
Plug it up and it says chaning connected usb device. Just stays on the screen for a while then goes away.
Now we got out the car and turn the car off.
Then phone lit up and says powering conntect usb device. Then my rasio started to boot up and ended up in a boot loop as long as the phone was connected.
So thephone was trying to power my car through the usb charger.
This is something samsung should fix asap. There should be an option to turn this off.
Ill have another chat with samsung
