Hey guys,
So after a lot of time on custom roms with different sound mods, i finally came back to stock, but now i have the impression that my speakers volume is very low, others phone like my old Nokia Asha 302 cover my HTC One while both play music(the same song). Is the volume that low on stock, or i have a problem on soft/hardware part?
Clean your speaker grills with a toothbrush. I'm 95% sure that will fix your problem

I hear you man, I have an Asha 200 and its speaker is loud as hell. But it doesn't sound as good as the one. You're not gonna get higher volume on your One, but you will get better quality

My first phone was an nokia 6234. I've nevere had any phone as loud as it. But i must admit that sound quality from htc one is awesome, but if it was a little bit louder it was perfect..

You can try a sound mod like Project ERA or intense blast (I think that's what it's called).

Hi guyz, Now am planning to buy a good over the ear headphone for my note. I have finalized the Grado SR80i. Has anybody else tried it with the note ? Or any recommendations other than this?
Have the Grado SR80i and I've been using it together with the Note for over 3 months now. Sounds great! Prior to the Note I had a Iphone 3GS and I can't hear any noticeable differences. The Grado SR80i is a great headphone.
Grado
Have used Grado SR60 since i bought Note. Sounds good. But Voodoo Louder is must have.

Why is Voodoo louder a must have?
If your hearing is really bad you might need it to max the volume.

I never listen to my Grado on max (standard) volume. When I'm at home it's nice and quiet so the volume doesn't have to be that high. When I'm on the train or the bus the volume doesn't go high either because of the open design other people will hear your headphones very clearly. And I don't want to be an A-hole so I turn the volume down a bit.

Because it makes sound not only louder, but also better. So it seems to me. Comparing with and without it is showing difference on same volume level.

Didn't thought about it that way. But maybe because it really amps your signal more it's able to drive your headphones better. Might be giving it a try, thanks matikl
sennheiser mm550
Sennheiser mm550 is a good headphone, been using it, pretty good noise cancelling, and audio is crystal clear.
if you can get poweramp, it is a good app to enjoy music, play around with the eq to hit the best possible sound
I've had the 32GB unlocked One basically since it became available in the US. Before that, I had the AT&T model. On both phones, the speakers sounded great and were loud enough to hear, but not extremely loud like some people are claiming. If I turn on the loudspeaker in the car I struggle to hear it just like I would with any other phone. It doesnt sound noticeably louder than other phones I have, just clearer. Is my unit defective? Is there a way to increase the max speaker volume?

What is your rom version? In the 1.29.xxx.13 update volume was accidentally limited to 60% of max volume, it is fixed in .16

If you recently updated from 4.1 to anything more recent, there was a reduction in loudness. Some claimed they lowered due to speaker longevity, others say hearing protection. In any case, unless you roll back to your factory shipped stock, your stuck with the levels HTC set.
Insert Coin rom lets you flash the louder sound files
So there's no way to test it?

Hi guys,
The Boomsound speakers on my One are a HUGE disappointment. My Galaxy Y ($99) can produce louder sound than my HTC One. I was really looking forward to the speakers, so im quite disappointed. Is this normal?? Or are the speakers really that bad ??

The speakers volume got nerfed with an ota update long time ago because of to many blown speakers to repair under warranty. That is probably why you are disappointed. I remember when my phone was on the old sf version, they were amazing.
There are some mods you could try to boost the speakers sound, never tried them personally.

Thanks for the help. But im on InsertCoin Sixth Sense. So, this OTA patch is part of the custom ROMs as well? Or is it only the stock rom which is patched ?

On the AROMA installer for IC there is an option for 'speaker boost'. Not sure of the exact wording. Have you tried that option?

Pretty much. Still cant figure how Samsungs's lowest end 2011 model can even compete with the One, let alone beat it in one of the One's most touted features. Sad
My speakers are pretty darn loud. Of course I've only had this M7 for about a month so I really can't compare 'before and after'.

I had the same issue with my speakers, turned out that the grills were full of dirt that wasn't visible. I just got a fine paint brush and sort of stabbed the grills so the brush could poke through the tiny holes. 2 minutes of doing that and my One was 3 times louder lol... Hope this helps

Np man
I'm sure it's a problem with many HTC One's. I didn't even notice a decrease in volume until I noticed that one was louder than the other. Then once I cleaned both of them I was like "Holy Shizz"
Really interested in this phone but I keep reading ONE complaint (often typed in all caps):
The audio from both the speaker AND the headphone jack are terrible. Both the fidelity and volume. It seems to be lacking in power/output, but not having had the chance to test it for myself, I can't compare it to the 10/10 Droid Maxx (Ultra) speaker quality. Just thought I'd pick a few brains and see what you guys had to say.
Thanks for your time.
Nope. I think the audio quality is pretty good. Its not as good as BOOM sound from the HTC One M8 but its still great!
The speaker volume is loud and more than any iPhone really. Plus the quality in sound from the speaker is actually pretty good, what makes it sound bad is the quality of the music you play in terms of kbps and what not. The headphone quality is not so bad but could be better for the eq is not so customizable and only has presets but still more balanced sound than the Samsung galaxy devices that tend to be bassy no matter what.
Crazy & Confused
Don't listen to these guys... the volume is absolutely horrible in every way. To hear the speaker you have to put it on max volume and move it close to your ear. if there is any noise at all... running water, talking, etc you can't hear it no matter what. Completely underpowered and garbage. Makes me hate this damn phone.
Yes, the sound is low. You can find here a volume mod to flash and fix this issue.

The audio from headphone jack is completely OK!
High on volume and clean.
On the loudspeaker, it COMPLETELY sucks.
But, almost every phone has poor loudspeaker. Only HTC's phones are good in that.
