Hey guys, I`ve got a problem with my Galaxy S3 while trying to install clockworkmod recovery. I followed these steps: http://www.androidrootz.com/2012/09/how-to-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on.html . Everything was good until the last step, it whows PASS and my phone should restart, but he still be blocked on downloading screen about 30 mins ago.
What can I do now ?
Go read the sticky thread on how to flash back to stock with Odin.
If you flashed the wrong file, for a different model then you may have hard bricked it.

Hello!
I bought my Galaxy S a few days ago, and updated it to 2.2
But then the keypad and swype didn't have danish language.
Anyhow, i tried to install Darky's v8.1 gingerbread ROM (wipe)
I followed the instructions.
But when i went to recovery mode, and pressed the "apply update.zip" (something like that) it rebooted, but froze at the startup screenwhere it says GALACXY S, GT-I9000, SAMSUNG)
Now I can't enter my phone . I can't enter recovery mode, only the download mode.
How do i fix this???
is it like "spring cats" only for flashers and january? Thats like 5th misplaced topic here in a day.
To answer - reflash with odin. Read in faq in general section (I think its there).
Okay i will take a look at it. Thank you.
Btw, sorry if i misplaced it, I am just panicing at the moment
You need to give time for dalvik to be rebuilt. Guys, help or refrain from
posting. Mods know best.

Go to download mode and use odin to flash a stock firmware. You can download them from

Read the first post in Darky's thread:
2nd thing:
The Wipe version has an issue - it's known.
Just install the v8.0 and then v8.1 No-Wipe. It works perfectly.
Rofl, i'm doing a facepalm right now
Anyways it worked, thanks guys!
The question is now, should i try again (8.0 ofc) or should i just be happy with 2.2 ??
Hello, so yes as it says in the topic. I downloaded gapps for desire while having captivate and i flashed it. I didn't realize that after i was stuck in the boot loop. I'm a huge noob in this, i got this phone yesterday but somehow managed to get cyanogen to work on it. Please help me out somehow. Is there any way to get my phone back to stock rom from this? Btw I can open recovery mode, and download mode. I was trying to master flash while in recovery but it didn't work. So since i can't get the phone to boot up idk what to do. Thanks, and help me out please.

Please post in the CM7 sticky at the top of this forum AFTER you read through it and see if this issue has already been corrected. Also, try reading the actual CM7 thread in Development forum as there might be help in there.
What he said
Hi!
I am desperately trying to get Android 4.0 up and running on my device.
I have successfully rooted it, but that's as far as I've come.
The issue is that I don't know how to install CWM Recovery on it.
I tried volume up and down + power button but then I just get a weird message saying "power reset or unknown upload mode". So I don't know how to put the CWM in the image folder in order to install it.
Can someone please help me? I only have to install clockworkmod in order to continue my process.
I have been searching and reading for 4 hours now, I am exhausted and I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of.
PLEASE help me
If you have a sprint or Verizon check out roddericks thread on here and that should get cement installed on your system. Then check out jt1134 over at rootzwiki under galaxy tab development an heimdall the cwm package that he has on his cm7 thread.

Galaxy mini or dart since they have the same name so flashing the wrong cwm can cause brick. May be urs is a dart coz i flash odin without any wiping but nothing go wrong.

Hi, first post here so if I screwup any of the etiquette please tell me.
Ok, so I've had my P1000 for about two years now, no contract, not locked to sprint / verizon etc.
I had 2.3.3 at the start, but after seeing mannnny people flashing to ICS successfully I had to give it a go.
Attempted to flash using overcome kernel for CWM, failed and I had to odin back to 2.3.6 (couldn't find a 2.3.3 rom).
I kept it on 2.3.6, but I was unhappy and so am trying again:
It's important to know that I am now on a mac, so will not had access to odin, and instead am forced to use heimdall. Please don't post any odin specific instructions.
In order to get CWM I had to flash the overcome kernel, which includes the recovery mod.
I successfully used heimdall for this, following a specific instruction guide.
I then downloaded "cm-9-20120703-NIGHTLY-p1.zip" from get.cm, and copied it to my externalSD on my gt.
Booted into recovery, wiped all data/factory reset, wiped cache, wiped dalvik, and went to install form an externalSD.
I chose my file, and the installation / flashing (not sure as to the terms. ) began.
It went through a few messages, but however once it said "Checking state of BML/MTD" it reboots instantly and shows the cm startup for about five seconds before going into recovery. Always does this on startup, no way to change.
The only way to fix this is to go into recovery and wipe all data, but this leaves me on my 2.3.6 rom.
I have NO idea what's happening, and I can't use most guides due to them being odin specific.
If anyone can assist me, please do.
Don't link to any odin threads, and don't tell me to search, for I have been doing so for eight hours.
Cheers,
Zero
EDIT: SOLVED!!!
After flashing once it failed at BML/MTD, so I opened recovery and flashed from "internal sd". Worked a charm, now installing gApps.
Cheers for helping Priyana!
that is call boot loop.
Just boot to recovery and flash it once more
it is quite documented.

That's the thing - when I boot to recovery after flashing (and failing) CM9, it is a different sort of recovery and doesn't allow me to install from an externalSD.
Cheers for replying,

just the name change.
the internal and external got swapped around in that newer recovery

As I just noticed.
Installed PERFECTLY!
It's up and running - however I can't see a market?
Cheers,

You didn't flash gapps.
Didn't you read the instruction?

I gave up on instructions after five hours of them failing.
Reread now and just about to reflash with gapps

Yeah. Believe it or not, early adopter has advantages because we have read up all!

Yeah
Works so well, already have tapatalk and all gapps are working perfectly.
And the instructions - I was following them perfectly, but they did not go in depth when it came to reflashing with the newly installed rom-manager of cm9.
All works perfectly now, thanks for your help

I've got this exact issue coming over from Frankenclean 2.8 on the samsung fascinate. I decided to update my rom as it was falling behind the 'curve' if you will.
I'm now stuck at a bootloop "samsung" and "S-cyanogen(mod)" screen. they just go back and forth. I'm following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070 to the letter and still getting the issue. I've tried flashing a newer kernel that is for 4.x.x builds and no luck.
When I install or attempt to install cyanogen10 it fails on the bml/mtd check and it just reboots to those two screens.
I followed the 'fix' at section 9 but haven't had any luck getting cyanogen to install... I'd really appreciate a little help, ideas, questions, anything.
I know it's an older device, I'm just hoping someone out there with more dev knowledge than I possess "read: none" can help me out.
bump...
Got it to boot into a stock rom, but have 0 luck getting my nandroid to load up and be functional using CWM 2.4 (red). Which is what I made the recovery with.
Might end up with a stock phone if I can't figure it out, I don't mess with roms often.
Luckily I do have titainium backup so all my apps are saved. Just sucks to not have a sleek rom anymore. Not to mention I want jellybean. Any help is appreciated!
fixed it, 4.1 didn't like my phone, got hellybean 4.2 on it without a problem .
Only issue is that google voice to text doesn't work, nor google search.
