Hi.
I recently purchased a used Optimus 2x with a cracked screen.
The first thing I did, was to start it up with my sim card, to see if the phone was operator locked.
When I turned the phone on, it started up just fine and I entered my pin number just fine, but after that I didn't get any network on the phone.
There were only greyed out bars on top of the screen, with a red " x " next to it and next to that, there was a picture of a sim card with a red " ! " mark on it and also on the "drag down menu" there was a message saying "No network".
I tried reseting the phone to factory settings but that didn't help.
I think the phone is originally from another country, because after I started the phone after reseting it, the language was changed to spanish.
If anyone could help me figure out what the problem with this phone is, I would really apreciate it.
No network is odd, try flashing a different baseband, then root it, install rom manager and start fresh with a new operating system.

Thanks for the reply.
Is there a tutorial on how to flash a different baseband? Is there a certain baseband version I should get, or can I just install any baseband version?

Thanks shpapy.
I managed to flash a new stock rom, but unfortunately the "No network" problem still persists.
However. When I looked at the back of the phone, I saw that the water indicator had turned red, so I assume that it has been water damaged.
Could this be causing the No network problem?
Or could the phone possibly be barred?

if you paid by credit card get a refund through them, or if ebay dispute the purchase and send PayPal images of the water sensor. Its screwed if it got wet.

Is there some way of fixing it?
I've got a rework station and could possibly replace the broken component if I knew which one to replace.
I've reballed a few xboxes before and normally I just work on gaming consoles.
But I bought this phone to give to my brother for christmas. The guy in the advertisement only said that the screen on the phone was cracked, but otherwise worked ok, so I figured it was an easy fix.
But now the f****r won't answer the phone anymore, so I guess he's long gone.
I paid in cash, so theres no chance for a refund.
I'll dissassemble the phone tomorrow and rinse the pcb with isopropyl, but this isn't really necessary as the component that is causing the issue is broken anyway right? But still, I guess it wouldn't hurt to give it a little rinse.
Just flash a new baseband+ ril i recommend starting with .218 bb+ ril and work up from there. Also use CM7 as a rom. I had the same problem your describing when i flashed the wrong baseband on mine. And if all else fails nvflash usually works in the end.

Well I think I bricked the phone.
I flashed the 0405 baseband and 0405 ril and after that, the phone didn't even ask for a pin number anymore and also the Imei number was deleted in the proccess
Guess I should have read more about how to flash the phone properly before I started flashing.
Ah well. S**t happends, lol.
By the way if there is a way to fix this phone, I would gladly pay someone to fix it for me.
Just send me a pm if it's fixable and we'll work something out.
You ticked 'erase cp' didn't you?
Luckily you can write your IMEI back though.
Heh, use nvflash, then flash new baseband. I use .725 myself after flashing baseband > root> install cwm> flash rom.
@rusty i did that wrong once

Hehe. To be honest, I'm not even sure I flashed the ril file the correct way.
I placed the RIL zip file on the internal sd card and booted the phone into bootloader "the thing that was installed after I rooted it with nvflash", and installed the ril file from there.
I chose install zip from internal sd and chose the ril file and after that, no more Imei, lol.
But, like I said earlier, I'll gladly pay someone if they could have this phone fixed for me.
I really wanted to give this phone to my brother and it'ss really a shame it won't work, because I've already ordered a new replacement screen and everything.
My brother's really into android phones and I know he's been drooling about this phone and the samsung galaxy s2, so I really wanted to suprise him with this phone.
If anyone believe that they could fix this phone and get it up and working, please send just send me a pm.
Nvflash = flashing rom from low lvl, last resort, so no basebands etc.
There is tons of documentation on this, read it. It will actually make it simple to do and understand its in the development section: nvflash, smartflash(bb), getril, roms.. etc
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
Yes! I managed to fix it.
I flashed a stock rom back to the phone, using Smartflash and that fixed it.
When I turned the phone on, the Imei was back and I could make and receive phone calls.
The Rom file I used to flash the phone with was: BIN_LGP990AT-00-V10b-NEU-XXX-APR-05-2011+0
Thanks to everyone that halped
However, now I've got a different problem. I disassembled the phone and while disassemling it, I managed to snap the "antenna/ coax" cable that runs between the main Pcb down to where the microphone is located.
I tried searchin on ebay for a replacement cable, but couldn't find anything. Maybe I didn't search for the correct part.
Does anyone have one of these cables that they'd be willing to sell, or does anyone know where I might buy one?
After flashing various roms not detect signal turned out that the operator does not turn off airplane mode is not displayed and does not detect sim imei says without coverage and went back to stock rom but nothing stays the same I can do please help thanks

Corrupted /efs . If you didn't make a backup of it, you can't do anything to repair it. Your phone is now like an MP4 player.

then I will take you to imagine me sat there if you can repair or not?and if someone with another mini me pass that backup could be repaired?
I already said this in an similar thread: I doubt it can be done, since every /efs partition on every device is unique. If you find a way to back it up from the working Mini without screwing it up, let me know .
I did some research on the Internet and tutorials for SGS and SGSII do not work for our device. I can't seem to find where the nvdata.bin file is (which is the most crucial, and contains imei and bunch of other very delicate and important stuff).
Note that changing the IMEI is illegal, and also, having two Mini's with the same IMEI won't work.

My Optimus Black was working fine for about 3 months. Not sure what happened, but it started showing no network/signal. It's a completely unlocked phone. I tried a friend's SIM card and the first time it wouldn't work, but I tried again a few days later and it worked but had a pretty bad signal. Now it won't work no matter how many times I try. I even bought a new SIM card/number (I live in Asia) and it won't work.
I had Android 2.3 and thought maybe something got corrupted, so I wiped and reinstalled, but same problem. I wiped again and installed Mokee OS, and same issue. (By the way, after using Android 2.3, switching to Mokee is so much nicer, although it's in beta and still has some bugs.)
The 6 gold SIM connectors look fine. I used a SIM app and it recognizes the SIM card and its carrier, so I think the card is being read OK.
I live on a small island, so sending the phone back to LG or taking it back to where I bought it (Bangkok) would be a huge hassle. Does anybody have any ideas on things to try to fix this? I'd really appreciate the help.
Can you return to stock rom (rooted or not, as you want) and then tell me if you see something write in LG lockscreen (I'm thinking about LG Security Error) ?

The first time i wiped the phone i went back to Android 2.3, but all that the lock screen said was "No service". Usually it says "DTAC" when I have service. Is that what you mean?

I think everything is normal. It has an IMEI number. It is 15 numbers. It also has an IMEI SV number that is 16 numbers.

No if the SIM card isn't used that phrase is normal. I got a problem like you but it was written "LG Security Error" and I had to use Smartflash tool erasing cp and then recover my imei. But it doesn't seems that you have the same problem. "/

I flashed the new rom and erased the CP data. still no phone service but i haven't reset the IMEI yet. having trouble with that step. i'm not sure if this is going to work though, my problem seems different. my phone can see my SIM card, but i just don't have any phone service with any SIM card. the sim cards work fine in other phones.
try a sim without pin code
and flashing with smartflashtool (erase entire cp) doesn't works?

i don't think my SIM has a pin code? I'm not sure though? There's only one type of SIM you can get here in Thailand. You buy the SIM from a phone shop or 7-11 and add credits to it. I've never seen any other type of SIM card.
Yep, I used smartflashtool and erased the entire CP (had to enable with Windows Enabler). Now there is no IMEI and still "No service".
Retry or by changing baseband now...there was a tutorial in optimus3D threads i think
Or in this one itself
Change the baseband
Yesterday I flashed the JB rom by Crash (oh, ze irony). It worked for an hour, but then it rebooted and hung at the Samsung logo at boot. When going in to CWM i saw that the /efs could not be found, and I dont have a backup of my efs folder.
After trying nearly everything today, i cant seem to get my own IMEI back. First it was empty, now its the generic one (0049****). Currently im back on GB because i cant get on my mobile network with ICS or JB with the generic IMEI.
I tried most of the tutorials to get it back, tried the GSII_Repair tool, none of them seem to work.
I also tried the .nv/.nv.bak removal/backupping/replacing, but that doesnt seem to help either. Problem in some tutorials is that i have to move the imei folder and the .nv_data file, both of which are not present in my /efs folder.
Can anyone help me out? The phone runs stable and fine now under GB (with the generic IMEI it can work with GB apparently), but i would really like to go to ICS again
You can use (I have a developer IMEI and I use this workaroung right now.) it with ICS or JB. After a reboot you have to change the pin number. After this you'll get your network connection. That was one reason why I used GB a long time - but today I switched to JB (eybee) and had to use this way.

I dont think i really understand you. Under ICS i cant use it, because my network doesnt allow me to sign on. Under GB it does, but id rather just have ICS or JB and my own IMEI...
if you didnt make efs backup your screwed. And no nandroid doesnt back it up. No titanium backup also doesnt.
You need samsung to fix it for you, or get someone, cvxcvx, to that, if you can prove the phone is yours...
you learned the hard way.
I really think all rom makers should have in their first post a line that says back dafuq efs up first.
Anyway, the 49 is not developers, it is test emei, and yea its banned in some countries so if, like in Uk they decide to update banned imei list, you wil lose service.

So I just recently flashed CM11 on my Captivate and now the phone will no detect my SIM card. I've put the sim into a different phone and verified that it is not the sim. I've read some things about modems and wondered if that's my issue, so if anyone can guide me on the right path id really appreciate it!
