After i updated to Sense 6 the other day, I suddenly can't save contact.
When i get a new number, i write the name etc in the contact and save the contact.
But after rebooting nothing is saved, and i'm back to only having the number, no name etc.
It seems to work when i save on SIM but not when i save on exchange, where the rest of my contact are.
It seems i can't sync from HTC -> exchange or from exchange ->HTC
I try to setup a new contact in outlook and sync on my htc, but its not showing up on my mobil.
I sat up a new contact on my mobil and sync,,but nothing shows up in outlook.
It will sync my mail and calendar, BUT not my contacts.
I have noticed that my sync is sat to OFF, and don't really know how to set it to ON.?

Hello, so I just got my Diamond about a week ago, so after setting up all my settings, rom and all that, I started adding pictures to my contacts, the problem is, I can't add pictures to a contact or even add a contact to the TF3D tab, because activesync will start making duplicates of those every time i sync with outlook. This never happened with my kaiser, so i even tried out some more roms, and i always have the same problem...
eg.
Create 1 contact, it syncs ok.
Add a picture to the same contact, active sync will create a duplicate and add a picture to the duplicate.
Try to delete any of the contacts, original or doubles, active sync will just keep cloning it till i remove the pic...
I've searched around before someone comes and flame, and i found nothing related to this issue, any idea what could be happening?
Very weird. 90% of my contacts have pictures and this doesn't happen.
are you also making a sim contact or outlook contact? are sim contatcs set to display?
Outlook contact, sim contacts set not to show. It didn't happen before with my Kaiser either.
Tried creating them on outlook or on the diamond and both result in a cloning, tho for some reason, now if i try to add a picture with iContact instead of HTC Album, the picture fails to sync, but at least it doesn't double the contacts, so i found a half-solution.
do you have WM live! messenger sync options set to sync contacts with phones contact list?
A little update.
I hadn't even ran Live! on the diamond once, but I noticed that the contacts would duplicate on Outlook only when I logged in or out of my MSN.
So now I sync'd the contacts on the diamond with Live! and they don't duplicate anymore, i still can't sync pictured but at least now i don't end up with 10 contacts of the same person.
If i add a picture on an outlook contact on the pc or through Htc Album, it doubles the person, if i add a picture using iContact, it does not sync the picture but doesn't clone the contact either, so i have it +/- fixed, even tho i'll have to add a contact, let it sync to outlook and only after add a picture.
In activesync and in wmdc there is an option under sync settings for contacts to either replace or combine contacts.
I'm guessing you've got it set to combine.
hello, I'm switching from my beloved touch pro to the nexus one, but don't want to manually put all of my contacts to my new phone. is there a way for me to export all my contacts from windows myphone contacts to google and to the nexus. i tried just importing my contacts through my live account, but that only pulled the email contacts and not all of my phone contacts. I'll take forever to do it manually, and if I save them to my sim, I'll lose a lot of info. any help? I'm lost at this point.
I looked for a solution to this for a days. The best solution is http://www.spritesoftware.com/products/migrate/how-does-it-work- up to now.
thanks. looks like exactly what I was looking for. I'll give it a try and report back.
I found that installing Google Mobile App on my Touch Diamond2 synced all my contacts to my Google Account and therefore automatically appeared on my N1.

There's many ways of doing this....
If any of these apply you can try any of these...
First you can just import them using bluetooth I'm sure. You could just 'mark all' or select all your contacts in your phone book on your phone and just send them using bluetooth to the nexus.
You could also import them into Outlook express and save them as a file and import them into gmail under contacts in gmail.
Or you could set up an extra gmail account and sync your phone's contacts to that account using Google sync and then export those contacts as a file and import them back into your main gmail account or keep them there and use that account to sync with your nexus.
Sorry for making it sound confusing but I'm coming off a symbian S60 V5... I know there's many ways of doing this
I dropped my HTC Touch Diamond down a storm drain, so I'm replacing it with the HTC EVO. My phone synced a day or 2 before, so I have all of my contacts online with Microsoft My Phone. I see no "export" option anywhere on the page. Any help/suggestions for retrieving and importing into the new phone?
I think the easiest way is to set up your gmail account as an exchange account on your Windows Mobile phone and set it to sync mail and contacts.

Then once you set up your N1, your contacts will sync automatically. I love this feature from Google as much as any other. You will never lose your contacts again, no matter what happens to your phone. Also, you can edit and add contacts in your gmail account online and they automatically appear on your phone.
DejaOffice will sync your Nexus contacts to Outlook via USB without going through the google cloud.
Is there a solution for exporting contacts from myPhone? I have broken my TD2 and my TD1 so I can't use that to sync the contacts to the phone and export them. If I could I would probably sync all my old text messages as well.
I am embarking on an approx 30 min task of copying and pasting all my 400 contacts from MyPhone to excel then I can import them. At least I get to tidy up my contacts and remove any duplicates.

hi i have a problem here
I use to save new contacts in the HD7, assuming it will update the HOTMAIL contacts database when i sync the account
but now I look that it doesnt sync the contacs to my HOTMAIL account and also it erase the contacts (from HD7) that i dont have in the HOTMAIL account
how do i can solve this?
i mean, i dont want to be updating HOTMAIL contact list one by one....
WP7 is starting tu upset me
Is hotmail the only email account you have it set up for? Exchange, Gmail, anything like that?
Either way, go to Setting --> Email and Accounts -->Windows Live and see what is set up to sync.
I have 2 hotmail accounts one for the contacts that i dont use for email
and one for the email...
but in no one update the contacts...
in the "primary" (Contacts) one... it only have the option to sync email

When you Edit a contact, it should give you an option to choose which account the contact you want to edit is from, provided that you have multiple contacts linked up and sync'd to multiple accounts.
If you only have 1 account that sync contacts, your phone should automatically be editing that contact on that 1 account, and it should update to the server almost immediately.
If you have no accounts that are syncing contacts (including no initial Windows Live ID tied to the phone), then your contacts will save to your device.
At least thats how it is supposed to be working.
I've never had any issues syncing to my Hotmail Contacts account. It has worked flawlessly since day 1.
I've never had a any luck syncing contacts to my hotmail account. I even lost 75% of them cos i got frustrated and decided to flash my phone regardless.
My friend uses hotmail to sync his contacts and he was saying yesterday something about him having to log on to his hotmail account on a desktop pc before his contacts would sync. I'll try and find out more about what he meant cos it didn't make much sense to me.
I use my gmail account to sync contacts now and I must admit it's been flawless. ever contact I create on my phone gets synced to my gmail account. Who'd have thought that would work better than MS's own hotmail?
Hi all,
i have a problem that not all my contatcs will be synced to my smartphone. Only 40 contacts from 125 will be synced from Hotmail to the Smartphone.
Mail and Calender work fine.
If i create a new conatct for Hotmail on the Smartphone i will get only Surename and Name is this normal?
If i create a new contact in Hotmail the contact will be synced.
If i delete the 40 Contacts on my phone the contact will be deleted in Hotmail.
If i export and import the contacts new in Hotmail nothing will be synced
If i change a contact in Hotmail the contact will not be synced
I saw in my datatriffic on my phone that the phone will try to sync 25MB trffic per day.
If i deactivate contact and calender sync (only Email Push) i use only 1,0 MB per day.
I try to find were the problem is. I capture the data traffic on the router but i saw only https traffic to microsoft
Can i log something on the smartphone?
I try the solution with the Contact Editor but it did not help.
If i do complete hardreset i have the same error. On Android 2.2 all worked fine the problem exists since 2.2.1 i thought thats a bug in 2.2.1 but in 2.3.3 the problem still exists.
Regards
John
I suffer the same issue on a totally different device. Microsoft is aware of it but since December didn't fix it.
I tried. Setting Hotmail as the very first contact sync service and adding Google account without contacts sync does't work around the issue.
The simple question would be: what's the best way to sync all my GMail and phone contacts and have them be accessable through both platforms? How do you organize your contacts?
The more detailed explanation is as follows:
I use GMail a lot and have many contacts saved on my gmail.
I also have roughly 400 contacts (phone numbers only) saved on my HTC One.
What's the best way for me to sync the two? Some of the GMail contacts are also contacts on my phone.
I tried playing around with the sync options but ended up transfering ALL past e-mailed contacts to my phone. For example, I've e-mailed college professors 5 years ago one time about class and somehow their e-mails were synced to my phone as new contacts. It was a mess to clean that all up. And how would I prevent future e-mailed contacts from being saved to my phone?
At the moment the phonebook on my HTC One is set to only display contacts from my phone itself (so I don't see the contacts from GMail).
Move all your contacts to Google: https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?tab=Cm#contacts
That way it will backup your contacts as well as sync them to any device with your Google account.
Personally I have my phonebook set to only show Google so I only see these contacts.
additionally, do all your contacts cleanup in your pc browser on your Gmail account
