My HTC One phone is coming up with different sorts of errors. Never been rooted or anything and a factory reset has not helped either. It was working fine previously.
Now when i try to dial out i get the error message:
Connection problem or invalid MMI code.
I also notice that it says USSD code running when i dial a number at times.
There is also a small message that says out of service area when trying to dial numbers.

I try to use AccuDial Free V8.4.2 on HTC HERO and I keep getting the following error message: "Connection problem or invalid MMI code" whenever trying to dial a dial plan which is not just numbers.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Thanks
I'm having the same problem
I'm having the same problem on my HTC vogue. Can anyone help? I am only able to make calls to one of my contacts it's very strange. All other contacts I get the error, connection problem or invalid MMI code. I am running Android 2.2.1 Kernel 2.6.32.9. Baseband: unknown
Thank you so much.
ok dont know if it will work for you but it worked for me
add comma (,) in the end of the code
example:
*100*2# into *100*2#,
works for me

With me works, on L720, with PLUS (+) signal after number
I've tried most of the apps in the marketplace and none seem to work on the Hero.
There are two types of App, the first is used directly, that is you type your number into the app and in theory it should first dial the local access number before dialling the number you entered. This type of app complains with USSD MMI errors
The 2nd type of app should detect that you are attemtping to dial an intl number and intercept it, dialling the local access number before dialling the number/ contact you entered. With this type of app the detection does not work, you end up making the call directly using your normal mobile operator.
None of the apps work:-
Accudial
CellularLD
Calling Card Pro
Phonecard Express
Vopium
Voxofon
The developer of Calling card pro aknowledges the problem with Heros and in particular those that run custom ROMs.
Anyone found a solution ?
Connection problem/ Invalid MMI
Looks as though I am not alone !

Well I have found that Truphone works, they do no thave the best rates but it is better than nothing and better than dialling my phone card manually and entering the access number and pin.
It looks as though it is the "#" that gets inserted into the dial string by these type of apps that causes the problems.
Morning,
I would say Google Voice should be the best solution if you are based in the USA.
Good luck.
I'm on Carbon ROM 7/27 build, though issue seems not to be version based. AT&T is my carrier.
I can receive SMS but not send. A clean install of my ROM fixed this issue, but within a few hours the problem re-emerged. Some Googling suggested I have a bad SMSC code. However, when I tried to initiate the fix through the dialer, I got a message saying "connection problem or invalid mmi code."
If you can help me fix this I would greatly appreciate it!

A little history.
I just did a factory reset (stock rom) and when I rebooted I got a voice-mail message.
I had to manually input the voicemail number but I did it wrong, I put in 1123 ... (which is the WRONG number).
I dialed the voice-mail and noticed my mistake, so via settings I entered the correct voice-mail number (1233).
Although I listened to the voice-mail and deleted it, the message has been popping up in my notification area since then.
What I tried to do to get rid of it :
factory reset.
swap simcards with another phone. No vm message appears on the other phones. I haven't had the opportunity to use my simcard with another Android phone though.
install custom roms
revert to stock rom
disable Voicemail by my carrier
install HushSMS, trying the send a MWIVD (Voice Message Waiting Indicator DeActivation) but this option wasn't enabled
I you guys have any suggestions they are more then welcome.
Rob
P.S
Got a new phone, still the same voicemail message ...
Hi Experts,
I've been using a HTC Desire C phone for few years now and since last week a strange error started popping up. Right after booting up the phone, voice calls go through fine, after a couple of minutes, all calls fails with "Network Busy" error. I've tried factory reset and all the usual stuff, but the problem keeps coming. SMS is working fine without any issue. Initially I thought this was a service provider issue but after swapping the SIM card to another phone, everything is normal there. On this HTC Desire C handset, SIM card from different service providers behaves in the same way and all calls fail! Incoming call fails as well.
Stuck with this strange problem. Does anyone have any tips to try? Only thing I'm yet to try is to install a custom ROM to check if there is any luck.
Thanks in advance,
Rajiv.
