Using a UK HTC Touch Diamond in the US

Hi all,
I'm new to MDAs and to these forums so bear with me. I looked around quite a bit and have been unable to resolve my issue. I obtained an HTC Touch Diamond (a T-mobile Compact IV) in the UK and am trying to get it working in the US. While in the UK there were no connection issues but as soon as I got to the US the connection is unstable. I have managed to make about 10 calls in the US but they cut out after a short time and most of the time I cannot make a call or cannot connect to a network at all. It can always see Tmobile and AT&T but can rarely connect, and when connected can rarely call. I have flashed the TLR 3.08.07.16 WWE ROM and updated the radio ROM to 1.09.25.23
Any help would be greatly appreciated
from my basic knowledge of radio, uk networks use gsm while most us networks use cdma that mite be your problem!!
try going to start>settings>phone (in the personal tab)> scroll to the band tab and change ur network from auto to wcdma!! you may also have to change the band setting your using, but u may have to check with your network on what frequency they use
Thanks for the suggestion. Thus far I have only been able to connect on GSM, CDMA has never worked. I also have been using the 850 1900 band which I heard is the one used in the US. I have connected occasionally but am still having trouble.

I can't anymore use the 3G

Hi there all,
is a lot of time that i didn't write a post.
Now that i have a N1 ... i have a problem with the H3G Italy... that use a 3G network.
Every time i try to make available the 3G network i can't
... i can use only TIM Italy in roaming... this because TIM have also 2G network.
Is there anythink i can try please ?
i have CyanogenMod 5.0.4.1 for Nexus One... i also root my N1.
Thanks in advance.
Denis
Nobody can help me please ?
Thanks again
Check what frequency your carrier uses. Then compare it to the hardware specs for the N1.
If 3G has never worked on your N1 then it is most likely a hardware issue. If it only happened after you flashed Cyanogen then try wiping and re-flashing.
Hi there,
and thanks for the answer,
...the 3G was working for about 2 weeks, and it was great. On my carrier.
Now i don't understand why i get always:
"Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"
I so some thread with this error, but i still can't find how to solve it
Thanks again
Denis
Press *#4636#*#* and check wcdma preferred. If not working check in settings, mobile networks and try to check your mobile
Provider.

[Q] After CM9, can't use phone in another country?

Hi all --
Have had i9000 with o2 (Germany) for about 2 years. Used the phone in countries all over Europe with no problem.
Recently upgraded the phone to use CM9, and everything was fine here in Germany.
Went to Norway this week, but could not connect to any mobile network. All were rejecting me. Noticed that my IMEI was showing up as 004999010640000 -- figured that might have been the problem.
When returning to Germany, I checked my IMEI number, and it was displaying the correct number.
First off, how is that possible? I thought IMEI was what it was, and displaying the number (via *#06#) had nothing to do with the network I was/wasn't connected to.
Second -- what must I do so that I can once again use the phone when traveling outside of Germany?
Rather desperate -- thanks!!!
Really sorry to bump my own post, but I truly am desperate. I just cannot understand why I can no longer connect to a foreign network when I always could from this phone. I'm leaving for a business trip tomorrow and will be screwed if my phone doesn't work.
I'm running CM9 with baseband version I9000XXJVT, if that's any help. Do I need to flash another modem?
Is there nobody out there who can offer at least some advice and/or suggestion?

This is rather odd, as IMEI does not change based on location or network, it can be blocked by Networks , meaning O2 may not have agreements with other networks for it to connect when you are roaming to some or all other networks. BUT NO Network/modem can change your IMEI, only you can corrupt it by using a custom firmware read this
So what you have mentioned makes little sense and you need to contact your sim provider, as to why you cannot connect to other networks . (could be due to a sim lock)
Agreed -- it makes no sense whatsoever. Even stranger is the fact that though I could not connect to any network, I was able to get data -- check emails, etc. Phone calls were not possible, and there was an 'X' over the signal bars in the top bar. Can't explain that either...
Prior to CM9, I had no problem connecting in Norway (I was using stock Gingerbread.) Only this time was I denied access to any and all networks.
However, at the moment I am in Denmark, and I have managed to connect to one of their networks with no problem. Let's see if it works in Finland later....

most likely a roaming problem that your network provider needs to address
Sorry for interference , but after your description seems to be the know lost of IMEI after flashing a custom ROM.
If you have a backup of efs ...its simply to restore IMEI...just search the forum, there are a lot of posts about restoring IMEI...
If not have that backup, then install again GB 2.3.6....make a save efs folder...and then install again CM9, i recomend last CM 9 Stable.
Greetings.

I believe there shouldnt be any problem if your phone is from Dubai becasue I have seen quite a few phones coming from Dubai and they work pretty fine in other countries. Try doing following and see if this fixes the problem.
* Settings==>Mobile Network==>Network Mode (select to GSM Only if your company doesnt provide 3G) or (select "WCDMA Only" if your company provides 3G)
* If aforementioned doesnt work then try flashing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680776 if your phone is rooted (if not rooted then unlock bootloader from htcdev.com and then look for a rooting threat http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625841 and then use this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1865265 to flash recovery and S-Off your phone
Please try inserting another operator's SIM in your SXL and see if it has same issue. If not then it means your phone is working fine and then you need to contact your Network provider to fix your GSM Signal issue at their end.
Report back if this works or doesn't work

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S5 mini (SM-G800F) not registered on network

I have this phone here Samsung galaxy S5 mini (SM-G800F), i bought it second hand, and it is sim free, i was using it on Telenor Hu without any problem up till three days before, and it started giving the message not registered on network if i try to dial a number or send a message. the IMEI number is not corrupted, i checked it. tried different mobile operators, T-mobile hu and Vodafone hu it is working fine, without any issue, the error appears just on Telenor hu. I have checked every post on internet, almost. i have tried to reset the phone, also to manually register it, and to use WCDMA, GSM, LTE automatic, WCDMA, GSM automatic, WCDMA only, GSM only, the problem is only with the Telenor hu sim card, i have tried different Telenor sim cards, they are working fine on other phones but not with this one, i am kind of cornered here, help, please
Hi,
I will have your thread moved to your device section.
Good luck!
I would try to go to telenor and ask them for help, they might have some ideas. Sounds pretty weird.

yeah, i did that, they do not have a clue, now i am trying to trace the origin of the phone, that where it was originally sold, and maybe i would ask the telenor there, i will update as soon as i have the new information
Any progress? I have the same issue, can register on the network only in GSM mode.
This is an software issue of our phone. There is the same problem in germany with Vodafone and the S5 mini. All the other providers can be used without problems. So you have to wait for Android 5 or CM12 an then this problem will be solved
Be patient
