[Q] Download Mode on Kitkat? - LG G Flex

I'm not able to get into download mode on T-Mobile stock Kitkat via having the phone turned off and plugging in USB cable. Was on JB, rooted, CWM, used LG flash tool to restore back to stock, factory reset then took the OTA'S to play around w/kitkat. Did not have the download mode issue while on D-FUSE rooted kitkat rom, was able to flash back to JB using flash tools, did I hose myself by taking the updates? I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter, thank you

Download Mode on T-Mobile Kitkat
Not trying to bump my own post or anything like that, had a chat with LG and this is what I was told: 11:02 AM Joe: I see. Regretfully at the time it seems that for the updated software, Download mode is not available as this is used to perform operations that may be harmful to the device. In order to avoid this and therefore avoid system errors, the download mode is no longer supported on this product. Is there any way at all around this? I honestly dont know what I was thinking, should have just flashed D-FUSE ROM. Obviously from the first post not the sharpest tool in the shed, I'm not sure the steps to take or if I even can do anything through ADB to get download mode back, again I would greatly appreciate any help, thank you

Sorry to bump an old thread but I'm also having this issue.
I was rooted (stock) and performed a factory reset due to issues staying connected with towers.
I guess I dumbly updated my firmware while in the process of getting my phone back in order.
So I'm running 4.4.2 (KK) with a build number of KOT49I.D95920s (20s). Device is the T-Mobile D959
I know I need to get my firmware back to 10c in order to be able to root again but the problem is I cannot get into download mode (probably because of the firmware update.)
I have no recovery mode. I cannot use Freedom Flex to install one either because the phone is not rooted.
I can't use IORoot (I get to the part where I need to toggle the download mode and I can never proceed), towelroot isn't supported,
and stump isn't supported (nor does it offer me a brute force method; again probably due to my firmware version.)
I tried LG Root (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772) but can't get into download mode.
I have the valid KDZ file but since I can't get into download mode, I can't use the LG Flash tool (2014 or 1.0.54). I also have a valid .dll file.
I have not found a tot file.
I don't care what android version I'm using, I just want to have a recovery and root working again.
If anyone can please help, I would greatly appreciate it. I've been tearing my hair out.

Wow, I was finally able to flash and root my phone using this method:
http://playfuldroidz.com/wiki/How_t..._to_stock_for_the_T-Mobile_.26_other_variants
I used the offline mode.
I grabbed the DLL and image from here: http://downloads.codefi.re/playfulgod/LG/G_Flex/D959/firmware
I flashed the 10c build first, and it worked so I went ahead and flashed the 20h build to be able to use freedom flex to install cwm.
No more firmware upgrades for me!!!!
I sincerely hope this helps out anyone else with this issue.

downgrade 4.4.2 without download mode
just discovered this. you can use the lg flash tool with the phone on! without having to enter download mode. simply connect as lg software and run the program. successfully downgraded to d95910c this way

[Q] SuperSU Binary issue, root help!

Hi,
I have a T-Mobile LG G Flex that used to be rooted and after android system update now it doesn't have root access. Here's the thing: I ran TowelRoot and it displayed the following message: "This device isn't supported". Afterwards I downloaded and installed StumpRoot and when I run the app it displays a message saying: "Device is rooted" but when I run the Root Checker app it tells me device has no root access.
Heres the Software Information from the device:
Android Version
4.4.2
Baseband Version
M8974A-AAAANAZM-2.0.20064
Kernel Version
3.4.0
Build Number
KOT49I.D95920s
Software Version
D95920s
Can anyone point me towards a solution for this? I made a new thread regarding this matter because even though I've seen many people post similar situations they're for other type of devices. Any help will be deeply appreciated.
Thanks,
I'd say you might have to grab the tot for the d959, flash back to stock and run the updates again, then use stump.

Can someone answer this for me?
This always happens to me, I post a new thread and I get my questions answered once but after that no more help. Is this a forum rule?, do I need to help another user before receiving help again. I'd appreciate if someone could point me in the right track.
Thanks!,

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644083
A lot of peep have been posting that they're not able to root the latest update with the previous methods. And also T-Mobile doesn't use a tot file. Its .kdz. But not gonna work due to the latest update doesn't have download mode. So if you're on the latest, I suggest find a root method ( try stumproot, safe root, I/o root, vroot, towel root, hell id try anything. But that's me. I don't suggest shoot blind if you don't know what you're doing) then install freedom flex get a custom recovery then make a backup and flash d'fuse's rooted KitKat and disable ota's.

Hi, so I am stuck without recovery or download mode. I know that the LG Mobile Support Tool should work but I tried it on two PCs and just as it finishes extracting the software after it downloads, the program runs into an error and closes. I am running D95920s like everyone else here. Just no luck. Any suggestions? I plugged in at 90% Not sure if im doing anything wrong.
Update: So the LG Mobile Tool has many security checks and it doesn't always allow for flashing. If anybody comes across this problem in the future. Refer to mattwheats instructions.
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-flex/general/fyi-taking-ota-rooted-twrp-t2999344

d95920s update file needed

could someone upload a copy of the d95920s ota update file?
I would suggest not updating to d95920s. It takes away download mode and makes it very easy to brick if you want to do any editing. If you just wanna stay stock, then you can use the LG Support Tool to download the update from your PC. Just google LG Support Tool, and download it.

I dont want to update from it. I want to extract the VOLTE components so I can put them on my nexus 5. I got it working sort of,it loads the components without any errors and I can turn it on. But the phone I got he firmware from does not have VOLTE enabled for t mobile. I chose the Flex because there are enough similarities in the hardware that I can make it work. Most of the problem isn't even in things like the baseband firmware. In fact, the baseband seems to have what I need. The problem is in things like the framework2 file and the libraries. The flex has a whole bunch of VOLTE specific things rolled in. But those can just be transplanted. The nice thing about the nexus is that Id have to work very hard to brick it. Most anything I screw is fixed by simply re-flashing the firmware images Google provides.

ATT Note III SM-N900A not able to auto-update.

I've got three problems.
Won't over-the-air update
Computer can't recognize phone no matter what I do even when installing drivers separately, in "normal" mode, that is, with the phone booted and running.
Driver updates are useless
But Download mode works. So here's what I want to do. Knox is still factory-fresh and shows no alteration. I want to go back to completely stock rom in the hopes that over-the-air will then work as well as re-enabling computer to phone access (Mac/PC Kies).
Download mode works (99.99% sure). The phone works absolutely great, except for the three problems stated above. So can I do this? Here are the version numbers as found on the phone. I need help really bad here.

Since you can get into download mode I would just Odin flash the NC2 files http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54803130&postcount=136 to return your phone to stock. BUT once you do and you do the OTA Update, you will be on stock Lollipop and it CAN NOT be rooted! ONLY way to root it, is flash the NC2 files and root it (Just a heads up). IF you don't want root and want Stock Lollipop then just flash these files with Odin [100% Stock] Lollipop 5.0 (N900AUCUEOC1) Odin Tars http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/100-stock-lollipop-5-0-n900aucueoc1-t3069609

Stock TMobile D415 ROM D41520b_00.kdz Lollipop 5.0-- Can't root?

I'm a bit slow to realize this, but after updating to T mobile's latest 20b firmware (lollipop 5.0x), it lost root. I then tried to root it, using the three methods mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2732311.
Towelroot clearly doesn't work anymore. The zip file in the above thread couldn't be flashed since there's no recovery operation possible (just showing an android with ! in a triangle sign). I also tried the purpledrake, but the script doesn't run when the phone is connected with all drives installed and adb devices showing the phone. I then tried to get fastboot mode back (to install twrp/cwm recovery to flash the zip file) by following http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-l90/general/guide-fastboot-l90-d415-t2827825 which I have done successfully before, but then couldn't do it because it requires root (doh!).
So it seems that I just lost my ability to root, unless I downgrade to a stock kitkat (10e?) from tmobile, and then towelroot/etc. assume those work.
Anyone with experience on the stock 20b firmware? Can you root it and how? I'd love to use the beautiful 12.1 Cyanogen that's available here, but the camera doesn't work right on mine. Thus stock 5.0 seems to be the best option. Many thanks.
I got a bit further on the purpledrake method, in that I had to do a clean restart on the phone and connect to usb before the script will recognize. However, it ends up giving a really quick error message after trying a temp root: "your phone is not running a compatible software version. No vulnerable mode detected. Rebooting phone."
Anyway, many thanks to @brossovitch I followed http://highonandroid.com/android-smartphones/how-to-root-lg-g-flex-2-g2-g3-on-lollipop/ and it works like a charm. I can't seem to delete this very short thread so I thought I'd wrap it up with a solution. If it seems a bit useless please remove the thread (or tell me how to do it since I can't find the "easy button"). Thanks.

Need help with a bricked phone.

Hello. I was trying to root my phone using instructions from here: http://www.androidvillaz.com/2016/03/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s6-on-marshmallow-6.0.1.html
Once the kernel wrote and said successful, I was no longer able to turn on my phone.
What I've done for the past several hours was try to download stock images and write them on using Odin but to no avail. I've searched all over the internet and there doesn't seem to be an answer or I don't get it.
My model number according to the android recovery (I don't have TWRP yet) is G920AUCS4CPG1 Android 6.0.1.
I'm able to access Android Recovery, download mode and I have Samsung Drivers installed on my PC to use with Odin.
I'm not super familiar with adb but if that needs to be used I can figure it out.
I'm willing to paypal 50 US bucks to whoever gives me the right advice to get my phone working again. If this last line is in violation of rules please remove.
I'm desperate. Help.

There is not a root available for AT&T phones running
G920AUCS4CPG1
I don't think there is a root available for AT&T after 5.11 Android...but I could be wrong.
I would restore your phone to stock rom and then reupdate using OTA after that.
