ouch. when my i got my old phone's screen cracked like that i could still use full touch even on cracked and the whole display was destroyed. the repair man told me that i would have to replace everything including lcd. but unsure, better go to repair shop and just ask if you want to do it yourself, they would know best

On Z1 is a damn of job so I will recommend to go to someone who have some skills and maybe a technician. If the guy do not know much about Z1 then is the wrong guy.
If your phone is in warranty, you can claim accidental damage warranty. You will get your phone repaired or replaced.
Same happened with my Z1. Back glass of my phone was damaged and got my z1 replaced..

So bascially I drop my phone (2 feet off the ground) and it crack the screen.
Everything still works fine, only the glass is broken.
My question is I found LCD replacement on ebay for around $120~.
So if I replace that, is not an OLED anymore?!

I think I found the exact one and I'm pretty sure that is a SAMOLED just named incorrectly I don't think anyone would make a LCD screen for a captivate... but if so a SAMOLED would be well worth it over LCD
if its the screen for a cappy it is the right part and will be the same.
I see thanks,
Just debaiting if I should bother fixing it.
Dont really want to spend the $130~ for a DIY I'm not really comfortable with.
Anyone know some cheaper place for parts.
Contract ending in few months.
Going to switch to another provider which I can get a new phone.
I don't know anywhere you might be able to get one cheap mostly because it's the screen I imagine you can't really buy one that wasn't from a different captivate and since you're about to switch and get a new phone I'd live with it haha it's not worth that much money if you don't plan to use it much anymore
Is the screen and front glass one piece? It looks like the screen under the glass is fine.
I agree that there probably isn't a LCD for the captivate.

And I really appreciate the service from Sony which I just wanna share with you guys.
Bought my xz secondhand and after 1,5 year being quite happy with my xz, I noticed a small black dot when making photos.. (which I also have on a few photos from one year ago, but only a few and then it disappeared)
So, being on kk existenz and xzkernel v25, I went back to stock 4.2.2 (which it came with out of the box) and relocked my bootloader using my backed up TA code.
The black dot was still there, on the same place.
So I thought this must be an hardware related issue and send it back for repair.
This was what I asked for:
-The black dot to be repaired
-The rubber from the headphone flap was a bit damaged due to a lot using headphones
-And optionally I asked for an price quote for replacing the battery (since most likely for repairing the black dot issue the phone must being opened up and my battery was the original thus 1,5 years old and I thought maybe they can make a good price for it)
Check the link for reparation details.
They did it all costless within just one week!!

I have the opportunity to buy a Nexus 6 that's working perfectly but has a broken screen for only 35 bucks. I'm a bit concerned looking at the Craigslist pic of the damage though. It looks to me like a bit of what's under the glass might be broken too but I'm not really sure. I'd certainly like a solid foundation to stick a new digitizer to. I'm hoping someone who has seen that part of the phone before can weigh in on this for me. If it's just more trouble waiting to happen I'll want to pass on it. Take a look at the pic and tell me what you think please...

Safest bet is to do digitizer and glass as one assembly rather than glass only replacement
Thanks but the phone was already sold when I woke up today. I agree that replacing the whole assembly is safest, but if I could afford that I would just find a whole phone that doesn't need the work.
LCD and Digitizer is like every other modern phone on the market, they are bonded together so you cannot just replace the digitizer. Sure you can buy the digitizer online but due to the bonding process they use during manufacturing the LCD will break trying to take them apart. Unless of course you have specialized equipment just for breaking the bond, then you would need bout half a million dollars in equipment to liquid optically bond them back together. Cheaper to just buy a whole new display
Sent my device back to be repaired by OnePlus.
Nothing wrong with the phone besides two things.
Proximity sensor
Brightness sensor.
They say I need to change all of these
Parts affected:
- Replacement antenna
- Replacement back camera
- Replacement battery
- Replacement battery cover
- Replacement display
- Replacement earpiece
- Replacement flex
- Replacement front camera
- Replacement main board
- Replacement speaker phone
- Replacement vibrator
- Screening
Plus the cost would be £854?? Lol a brand new 10 pro doesn't cost that much FFS.

Needless to say I said no, now I'm awaiting it coming back in a completely non working state and I'll end up with a fight on my hands..
I get it that it may have some water damage but honestly, £854?? What are these guys smoking? At best it'll be a problem with the sensors alone if they can't be removed then fair enough.
Guess i'm going to save up for the nothing 2.
Never again.
PS: just called SBE and spoke with some utter puppet, I advised that there was only a couple of problems with it and that I want the device back with the functionality that I sent it to them with...
