think i have a i9305 lte..mobile network not found.. - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

I have been given a sg3, the model number is 9305 and the back cover has LTE motif on it so i assume it is the later variant from what i have read, it is running android 4.1.1 but i cant get any updates to it and no sim card will register on on network, i have checked the imei is not black listed so i know its not stolen. I have the yellow triangle on it so i assume something has been done and the is no recovery mode when i press down and home button, i used root checker and it seems to be unrooted.
What i want to do is just get it to a latest stock rom or unbloated google rom and have it in unlocked state as i want to give it to someone.
Not really sure how i should proceed from here..please advise.
Thank you

Is it possible that your S3 LTE comes from another country? If it so then maybe the 3G/4G bands defined are not compatible with the frequencies in your country.

Oh, BTW I forgot: you can download a stock ROM (Samsung) from here (4.1.2 and 4.3):
samsung-updates.com / device/?id=GT-I9305
I tried the stock 4.3 and it drains my battery as crazy so I've ended up with Cyanogenmod (now 4.4.4, nightly) that works great.
And if you look for "modem"|"baseband" I9305 you will also find a list of software modem/basebands to install to your ROM.

galaxy GT i9305 international with no 4G in USA plz help

Hi
Im currently using an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S3 GT i9305 LTE and the 4G LTE works fine in France with Orange mobile but Im currently using it here in the USA but I do not get the 4G LTE I only get the Egde on Tmobile network which is the slowest one. The frequency bands on this phone are different than the bands of Tmobile USA. The hardware is tuned to European LTE bands I believe. If i go with aftermarket roms would I be able to get LTE on USA Tmobile netowrk and which roms should I use?
Thanks in advance
Wich version OS you have:4.3 or 4.4.4?
---------- Post added at 08:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:40 PM ----------
The latest version 4.4.4 supports service mode and you can choose which frequency you need in USA and force it from service mode.
Here is a mini tutorial:We mark Dial keypad: * # 0011 #,
from phone menu choose:Back-enter
from phone menu choose KeyInput:Q-enter
from phone menu choose Key input:0000-enter
After 10-15 sec.we enter in Main Menu:
Then follow:1.UMTS
1.Debug Screen
8.Phone Control
7.Network Control
2.Band Seleccion
There you must choose the frequency you need and force it.
Here you have a video that is going to help:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMGb8C1ITiw&
im on 4.3 JB
I tried ur instructions but i cannot get the lte on tmobile usa network i dont know if 4.4 kitkat will be able to pick up lte.. tmobile usa uses different bands than the ones that on the GT i9305 .. I selected automatic and i still get only EDGE,
also i tried all the bands that listed on the phone but those bands give me no signal.
Thank u so mucg for ur help
Should I update to 4.4? I do not get OTA update for this model yet. I know there are instructions on how to manually update it the Germany firmware.
My phone is unlocked if I do the 4.4 update will it still be unlocked?
Thanks in advance

After upgrading to version 4.4.4 DBT your phone will continue unlocked. So I would recommend you upgrade using Odin and then follow the tutorial. Here you will find the firmware:http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9305

Hoping to flash my SM-N9208 Note 5 with another official ROM

Im not sure if anyone has the answer to this...
I happened to be in Taiwan at the weekend when the Note 5 launched.
I visited an official concession at a department store where I had the opportunity to ask the salesman a few questions. He assured me that the model (N9208), would be the same one that would be launching in the Philippines (where I live). I took his word for it and purchased the phone. I had the opportunity to visit a Samsung store today to find that the software (keyboard etc) is very different on the Philippines version (still an N9208)!
I love the phone but English (UK) is my first language and the Philippine version supports it much better than the Taiwanese version. The handwriting pad is the most noticeable difference as it is set up for inputting characters as opposed to writing sentences...
I was hoping to change this; N9208ZTU1AOH3_N9208ZZT1AOH3_BRI
to this; N9208XXU1AOGE_N9208OLB1AOGF_XTC
I was hoping to keep it as official as possible.
Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.
Why do people do this? Buy a phone that's not for a region they live in cause they "can't wait" or some other excuse? If I want a phone for the US, I'm not going to go to the UK to get it......

Ok, nvm LOL. Didn't think of it that way, forgot there is no UK launch for Note 5.
No custom ROMs (or even root) yet, I believe -- but I'm a Note 4 user and I sometimes use Google's own handwriting keyboard in place of Sammy's solution. It installs as an alternate keyboard.
I find that It works best when paired with Google's own keyboard. Both should be available to download on your device since Google now releases their apps on a stand-alone basis (i.e. it won't replace your stock Sammy keyboard).
Hope that helps while you wait for a custom ROM.

Thank you. I have been using Stylus Beta from the Play store in the meantime. The google one was great but I have found writing sentences much more fluid with the stylus app. I recommend checking it out!
Cheers for the input!

just flash it with odin...they are compatable.......all the firmware for n9208 will flash no problem
youve given me an idea to do it now ,,,,i have same problem
just curious why you picked xtc firmware
Hi, the firmware I picked is from the Philippines. English is widely spoken, especially in business etc so it's the best bet for full English support of the N9208 I believe. I think the firmware I picked is the carrier free version although I need to double check.
I'm very tempted to use Odin but my only holdup is Knox. Samsung pay is launching imminently and I would hate to miss out if my phone becomes unofficial!
Any idea if it would be effected?

Yes, you need to enable 'OEM unlock' before you can flash with Odin. Same happened on my N920C when i tried to flash a custom kernel: always failed until I changed the OEM unlock.

Don't think this have anything to do with it as i remember seeing that on my Galaxy S6 as well.
Could you try to flash another compatible software? I had the same problem once with my S6 which was LUX, tried to flash a firmware from the Netherlands on it and would fail as well, but then tried a French one and it flash without problems.
Or you might want to go look if there's a solution in the Galaxy S6 (and Edge) forums. I wasn't the only one with that problem but since I could flash the French firmware i've never bothered to further look into it.

Did you have any joy with Odin in the end? There were more firmwares to try on Sammobile if that particular one is a dud. I'm tempted to have a go now but I'm far from an expert

Which firmwares have you tried flashing on your N9208 ? I was gonna try to flash the N920T firmware on my N9208. I have a t-mobile sim in my N9208 and I want wifi calling and the new t-mobile video calling feature.
I only tried n9208 firmwares on sammobile... Malaysia... Philippine... and some unknown ones
never thought trying others...
could others be used safely?
I just wanted to change keyboard because chinese characters keep coming up!

the one that fails is the modem I dont know why ,maybe if someone could provide as with a flashable modem zip (of n920c for example) would be great.
To change just the system
I unziped the firmware of the n9208 then I replaced the cache.img and system.img with the ones of a n920c rom.
then build up the tar file and flashed with odin. Rooted and flashed TPWR after.
everything works except nfc probable from the baseband that is different.
Thats why I am asking of a flashable modem..
Tried Dr.Ketans rom also but I lost signal.

I have the same problem like you before,my device is N920R6 and i couldn't find custom roms . And then find sprint custom rom and i flash them and to my surprise they work without any issue really. So recently i have using roms from teleteam, S8 port and note fan edition , they also have gsm version of rom which i use mostly which are awesome ,and i think would work for you. so i recommend trying them out and other sprint custom rom, but the most important thing you must do before flashing anything is ensure you backup your phone, its highly recommended.

The problem that I am having is that I am from Bulgaria and am not sure if this Sprint custom ROMs would work with my operator. The problems I am having right now are:
1. I can't send SMS/text messages, though I can receive.
2. LTE/4G is not working for me.
I am using the official Nougat firmware of US Cellular. I do not know if I can flash other modem and which other modem.

Nope, flashed stock 7.0 for N920R4 and everything works fine... But no network with custom roms(for example S8 based roms which r based on 7.0, maybe cuz phone was 6.0.1 stock)? Now im using latest stock 7.0 US cellular rom, so far so good, but i didnt flash custom Nougat based rom, yet, but i will and ill let U know hows things going... Modem file, so as boot is main reason for incompatibility i think...
N, But sadly, no Dev wanna talk about that, on any custom based threads on XDA... so as anyone else... Cant believe, that just few of us owning this variant of N920...
Download rom, flash it through Odin, do clean flash if u r now on custom rom(wipe everything except Internal memory), than go to Download mode and flash Stock Nougat...
Edit: Do at least BACKUP of EFS,MODEM and BOOT if U r on Custom recovery! EFS is MUST TO, just in case U need to restore it...

Anyone flash the unlocked Note8's firmware on T-Mobile?

Wondering if anyone has been able to flash the unlocked firmware onto the T-Mobile Note8.
Previous to my Note8 I had a Galaxy s8 which was flashed with the U1 firmware using Odin...
I looked and didn't any post/thread about this, however my apologies if I missed it -- if said thread/post exists where it explains how-to I'd LOVE to see it.

No bloat from carrier, no boot sound, "stock" Samsung. You'll lose Wi-Fi calling depending on your carrier, you'll lose rcs, 256Q, and 4x4 mimo.
Overall I found the tmobile firmware better with just disabling the bloat through adhell.

For me that's too much to lose.
@all I appreciate the responses. I'm gonna try it I'm about an hour and report my experience.
I can't find much T-mo bloatware on mine. What else besides T-mobile, T-mo TV, visual voice mail and device unlock is there? I think carrier IQ is gone for good, anything else?
Will I trip Knox if I flash the unlocked firmware on my T-Mobile? or will anything change in the download menu showing unofficial status?
it will not trip knox and its reversible if you don't like the unlocked firmware. I went back t mobile firmware and used bk disabler to disable the bloat and crap running in the background. all in all you'll have about an extra GB taken up on internal storage which isn't much on a 64 GB device IMO.
With unlocked tmobile N8, if I flash unlocked fw, then device should work on Verizon?
hello - i also have this question. (sorry noob here).
I got my tmobile note 8 unlocked by paying off the the pending amount and followed the Tmobile's device unlock procedure. But even after that the phone did not work with Verizon's network.
Reading BlueFox721's post for carrier switching (link)
Is my understanding right that, first I have to follow the Carrier Switching procedure and then I can choose between 2 options
(opt 1) flash a specific carrier FW or
(opt 2) i can choose to flash the phone with the unlocked firmware.
Am i also right that flashing the phone with a carrier specifc FW provides some advantages that are specific to that carrier's network setup (features such as wifi calling, 4x4 mimo) and that also adds some of the bloatware from that carrier.
appreciate your help in advance.

Yes
Dumb question. If the device is carrier locked, say to tmobile, will flashing unlocked firmware on it unlock it as well? or is it based on imei?
Nope, unlocked FW won't sim unlock the phone. And if you want to use Tmobile's unlock app you need to use it with Tmobile stock FW.
Doesn't unlock firmware support 256 qam and 4x4 mimo? It has band 46
