I had a stock I9000 with 2.3.4 XXJVQ. I rooted it with CF-ROOT 3.7 using these instructions: androidadvices.com/root-samsung-galaxy-gt-i9000-android-234-xxjvq-firmware/3/ and CF-Root-XX_UNK_JVQ-v3.7-CWM3RFS.tar and Odin3 v1.7 from the provided archive.
These worked all right and it also installed CWM 2.0
Then I downloaded CM7.1 stable from here: cyanogenmod.com/devices/samsung-galaxy-s and followed the instructions here to install: wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Full_Update_Guide#Method_via_Recovery
I wiped the data, wiped the cache and then selected "Install zip from sdcard" and then I choose the CM7.1 zip file and after a few seconds the phone entered a reboot cycle. For a moment the Cyanomodgen logo and the Samsung logo appeared, then a few lines of text, and then it rebooted and did the same.
I've waited about 10 minutes and nothing changed, and then proceeded to install CF-ROOT again via Odin thinking that it would solve it and revert back to what I had. Boy, was I wrong! Now it just hangs on the Samsung logo screen.
The phone still enters Download mode, so from what I've read it's recoverable, but I'm kinda scared to try anything else without knowing for sure that it would work because I don't want to brick it harder.
Since I'm a new user, the forum won't let me link properly. Sorry.
Any advice? Thanks.

Can you get 3 button recovery again? If you can just reflash cm7
Instead of reflashing the kernel through Odin you should have taken out the battery. Then 3 button comboed back into recovery and reflashed cm7
If you can't get into recovery again reflash a stock rom with odin.. then a kernel then has cwm recovery.. reboot into recovery mode then flash cm7.. and if you get the same boot loop as before pull the battery, 3 button into recovery and flash cm7 again.. then you will be good to go

First time I entered CWM using the CWM app and selecting "reboot into CWM". Is there another combo besides home+vol down+power for dl mode?
Could you recomend a good stock ROM?
Thanks

volume up, home and power will give you recovery when your phone is turned off..
Any stock gingerbread will do when trying to go to cm7

The first time you flash CM7, you might need to flash it twice. AKA
1) Flash once
2) Reboot. Now you are stuck in bootloop.
3) Pull battery. Go into recovery mode again
4) Flash cm7 again
5) Should boot normally now.
It's a common occurrence.
Oops beat me to it
It doesn't go into recovery anymore (home+vol up+power). I'll try to flash a stock ROM with Odin and see how it goes.
Edit1:
For people having this problem. I've flashed using the ROM and instructions here:
androidadvices.com/update-samsung-galaxy-i9000-official-gingerbread-235-xfjva-firmware/2/
This is 2.3.5 XXJVT
Edit2:
I've went to this thread:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
and got the proper CF-ROOT for XXJVT and flashed it with Odin3 v1.7
Edit3:
I've installed CM7.1 using the instructions linked in the first post and everything worked out fine. Thanks everybody.

Hey Guys If anyone can help i would Greatly Appreciate it !!! I cant seem to install any ICS custom Roms. I came from a Ginger Bread rooted stock rom. I used Odin to flash my N7000 to ICS 4.0.3 stock ( Baseband XXLPT-Build #XXPLY) got it rooted and now using Kernel Franco#5. I tried installing Kingdroid.V4 or RocketRom.V7 ICS roms by using Abyss Kernel4.2 at CWM. I followed every step on their Forums but for some reason at installing the rom, the flashing of installing it only took 15-20 seconds installing the rom and my phone states it "Completed" the install, once i restart the phone it stays on the "Samsung Note N700 Logo" what am i doing wrong ?? Can anyone help ?
This worked for me. From the stock ICS LQ2 , i flash CWM.zip + SU... .zip to get root, then flash a safe kernel, afterwards, I flashed the custom rom from CWM and worked for me. As long as the "safe ics kernel" has mmc_cap disabled, as it is said in the OP, than i just went for it , so all is good now without any flashing abyss... Hope this helps, or gives you a boost.
Cheers.
Check the videos in my sig....you should get the answers fir everything :good:

Also, remember the issues around flashing with ICS ROMS especially if running the LPY kernel. The best guide I have found on how to do this is the one from the Rocket ROM team. Have pasted a link to the thread (scroll to the bottom of the page for process).

U can try flash cwm.zip..then straight flashing abyss (do not reboot to recovery after flash cwm.zip)..restart to system..when stuck in samsung logo press volume down+home button+power button to enter recovery..do full wipe and then flash rom. Reboot to system. Hope it works.

Thanks for the help but i tried that method and its still not installing the ics rom correctly...No one knows if this is possible to flash through odin ?

I tried that method too but no luck. It installs but only took 15 seconds and it stated it was done installing, once rebooted it stood on the logo again. I have no clue as to why its not installing these ICS roms correctly.....
Litening rom does come with .tar.md5 format, maybe you can try flashing that wih PC Odin since you're comfortable with it. Link www.liteningrom.com.
1. Download the file .rar into your PC and unzip until you get .tar.md5
2. Flash using PC Odin. It will NOT trigger yellow triangle (I've tested it)
3. Your phone will reboot to STOCK recovery. Just select reboot system and WAIT. Kinda long...but just wait until it's done.
4. You can proceed to flash kernel with custom recovery by using Mobile Odin, e.g. speedmod, etc

Thanks kopitalk for the info. It worked like a charm through odin. I would of liked some of the Samsung galaxy S3 modifications on this rom but at least it worked like a charm with that Md5 File. Dude before you brick your phone.. Go download notecore kernel and flash it via pc odin... After that you will see a yellow triangle on the boot screen.. Do not worry about it for now..
Then in the boot screen press volume up+home+power once in CWM wipe data and reboot
Once booted in Android download triangle away app and install it then follow steps to remove the yellow triangle
After that download any desired rom.. As you are gonna be in a safe kernel (yes notecore its a safe kernel) follow all the developer's steps to install the desired rom
It will basically be put the rom in the internal sd, boot to cwm (power+volume up+home) wipe data /wipe cache, choose zip from internal sd and flash the rom
REMEMBER YOU CAN ONLY DO THIS FROM A SAFE KERNEL..
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
As far as I can see, you have some sort of corruption in your emmc or some other partition. If i were you, to be on the safe side i would have taken all the trouble to start again from scratch. Flashing a GB rom with Odin with a .pit file and re-partitioning enabled should wipe your note clean (dont worry no brick with pc odin) . Then flash a "safe" ics kernel either by pc odin (safer and you can remove the triangle and custom flash count by triangle away app) or by cwm.zip (use only once while flashing kernel). Then choose the custom ics rom that you want to install and flash it from the new kernel recovery (no need for abyss kernel etc) with full wipe (data, cache, dalvik). Also if you face problems go through this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732903
P.S. - I highly recommend starting from scratch by re-partitioning via Odin with correct pit file.
Press the thanks button if helped.
I am on clean note V4. Everything was working fine until I shut my phone down yesterday and now it's stuck on the android boot screen.
I flashed netcore 12 kernel with pc odin but it won't boot into recovery when i press vol down + power.
i even tried flashing abyss kernel and it is just stuck on the samsung i9220 screen.
i also tried flashing in the newest speedmod and it wont' get past the samsung screen (not the black and white factory img screen).
So basically, i can get the phone into download mode no problem, flash any kernel with pc odin. But it will not boot PAST the Android/Samsung boot screen.
Any help is appreciated...
Is there a way to flash one of the ICS roms with PC odin? I can only find .zip files from the threads.

Right, to cut a lonnnnng first post story short, basically, rooted my phone yesterday, went well, installed some rooted apps and was having fun, one app, 3D something, from Google Play. it asked me to restart my phone after setting superuser (i thought this was quite weird) anyway i boot locked my phone - got the typical "Samsung GALAXY Note GT-N7000" and the phone woundnt move from there, i can gt into vol+ home and power and vol- home and power still. so after some research i found i had to flash therelivant stock ROM using odin - so i did. and it worked. then at somepoint today my phone got stuck in a boot loop consisting of the GT-N7000 screen then the samsung spash screen. when i do vol+ home power, i get in red text "E:/error%20in%20/data/recovery_last_kernal_log.txt" - what does this mean? and how(if at all) do i fix it?
i have curently re-flashed stock ROM and vol+ home power & "wipedata/factory reset" and so far so good......
any help or shed light would be a great help
Phone is Samsung GALAXY Note GT-N7000
Flashing the stock rom won't change anything if you have not wiped data. It just restores the system. What rom are you on? JB or ICS? To get everything to factory standards, install philz kernel.
Then boot into Cwm and choose wipe data,-clean before new rom flash.
Once it's done, choose reboot download and flash the rom again with odin. This way anything that the "3d something" might have done will go.

yeah any kernel will do as you just need recovery... once the kernel is installed, boot into recovery.. You should see CWM based recovery.

Hey Guys. Greetings. I wanted to update my galaxy note [GT-N7000, India] to Android OMNIRom 4.4.2 Kitkat nightly build from Android 4.1.2 [Kernel version DDLSC]. Following steps led to bricking my phone:-
1. I first installed philz custom kernel [Version DDLSC CWM version 6.0.3.7] so that I could have CWM and SU.
2. Then I went to CWM Recovery mode, did factory reset. Then Wipe Cache. Then Wipe Dalvik Cache. Then I tried applying the omnirom update. It failed and gave me some context error and status 7.
3. Then I restored my 4.1.2 image using the CWM recovery only.
4. I booted into 4.1.2 and tried updating the CWM to 6.0.4.3 using ROM Manager. It succeded.
5. I went back again to recovery mode but it said again 6.0.3.7.
6. I tried applying update to CWM from CWM itself. It stuck at something like “replacing the stock recovery….”.
7. I powered off my phone. It went into boot loop once but somehow it started.
8. Then again I went into ROM manager and selected Boot into recovery mode.
9. It bricked my phone. Unable to boot since then. I cannot access recovery mode but I can access download/ODIN mode.
Here’s what I tried to do.
1. Downloaded CWM 6.0.4.3 touch .zip from clockworkmode.com
2. Renamed it to recovery.img.
3. Converted it to tar.md5 using img to tar tool.
4. Using Odin version 3.07, I tried flashing CWM.6.0.4.3.tar.md5 It stucks at NAND Write start.
Please help me recover my phone.
Specs: Samsung Galaxy NOTE GT-N7000
Original firmware: 4.1.2 kernelDLSC

Few things you should have already read and understood.
1. Note N7000 doesn't have a separate active recovery partitions as the S3 and so on.. The recovery is built in to the kernel. So flashing Philz was a correct step.
2. You cannot update the recovery using ROM manager as it writes to the recovery partition which this phone doesn't use. Thus you didn't get the updated recovery.
3. Using odin will not work due to 1&2
Download the Philz kernel DDLC tar version and flash using Odin (uncheck Auto reboot). Once it shows Pass, then power off the phone and remove the usb cable. Boot into recovery using the vol up+home+power. The flash a kernel like Raw r4/r5. reboot into recovery and wipe. Flash Omni, Gapps, SU. Reboot.
Revive your phone by flashing stock firmware using.
So its not really "Bricked Galaxy Note GT-N7000 using CWM" but bricked due to sheer ignorance.

Try different USB port, cables, and check if the drivers are installed properly.. Samsung USB drivers..
Looks like the drivers are working back after using Kies. Now I connected the device and ODIN is doing its task. Will update if it successfully finishes the job.
Thanks
Edit: Everything is working as expected. ODIN has flashed CWM on my device and now I am restoring my device using the backup I created yesterday...
Got into the same problem as the OP. Wiped everyting and only have Phliz recovery. Couldn't flash CM11 because according to CM thread must have latest version of CWM (6.0.3.4) while the philz recovery I installed is based on 6.0.2.7. Couldn't flash newer recovery I downloaded from CWM site, it would just freeze and get stuck.
My solution is to just flash CM10.1.3 stable plus gapps. Worked fine. Then proceed from there.
You must have CWM 6.0.4.4 or higher, which is fully SELinux compatible for KitKat.
Just flash Raw kernel r4, reboot in recovery (of raw kernel ) and then do your flash and wipes.
You can't simply install a newer recovery on our device, as kernel and recovery are bound together, but ...THIS IS BASIC KNOWLEDGE FOR OUR DEVICE!!!
#fail²
Just resurrecting this!
After failing to flash KitKat because I had Philz kernel installed, I've got into a real mess.
I'm trying to flash raw kernel r5 but recovery isn't able to mount the SD card and so can't see the zip files on it.
I'm on a Mac and don't have Bootcamp so can't use Odin. Any suggestions?

Here’s what I tried to do.
1. Downloaded CWM 6.0.4.3 touch .zip from clockworkmode.com
2. Renamed it to recovery.img.
3. Converted it to tar.md5 using img to tar tool.
4. Using Odin version 3.07, I tried flashing CWM.6.0.4.3.tar.md5 It stucks at NAND Write start.
Please help me recover my phone.
Specs: Samsung Galaxy NOTE GT-N7000

No need to do all this ^
Flash this using ODIN. Pick the tar file

Hi all,
I too have the same problem, tried following as instructed
- Download the Philz kernel DDLC tar version (PhilZ-cwm6-DDLSC-ODD-5.11.2.tar)
- flashed using Odin by unchecking Auto reboot option
- Once it showed Pass( it also showed RESTE then went on to became green), then power off the phone and removed the usb cable.
- Tried to boot into recovery by using the vol up+home+power
unfortunately got stuck in the initial screen with yellow triangle
Kindly help

But today I have landed in the problem when I tried to upgrade the CWM through ROM manager. May be because of half knowledge.
After searching on the XDA I came across above thread identical to the issue I am facing wit same note config, with a great relief I tried to replicate the same for my N7000

- flashed using Odin by unchecking Auto reboot option
- Once it showed Pass( it also showed RESTE then went on to became green), then power off the phone and removed the usb cable.
