Find out what firmware version they're running then come back.
If you provide no information, then you cannot expect any help other than being told to search.

Kingo Android Root worked well for me until I updated to 4.3 Sent from my xperia z C6606 Sorry everyone, just thought I'd help the guy.
It isn't a matter of not wanting to help. He provided no useful information. The method of rooting varies by device and firmware version, so if he didn't provide that, then nobody can provide the correct information.
I don't recommend using Kingo. It collects a large amount of information on your device including hardware IDs and serials and sends them to a server in China, supposedly in order to download drivers. It does facilitate that, but just the model number could achieve the same. They even used to collect your IMEI until they were caught and stopped. Not exactly trustworthy behaviour.
If you're running 4.2.2 or older, use Root many Android by trusted XDA dev Bin4ry to root. It doesn't collect any info or even connect to the internet.

Here is a post I made in another thread regarding downgrading/rooting.
This may be helpful as well - How to flash stock roms with Flashtool
The images in that tutorial are broken, but the text explanation should help.
It is also possible to root then upgrade OTA and keep root, but it requires SuperSU Pro. If that's the route you want to take, then after downgrading, instead of flashing a recovery-

So yea, I'm looking everywhere on how to root an Xperia TX. I admit I'm a bit of a noob but I just want to root my phone. I previously had an Optimus One and I successfully rooted that and applied a custom recovery loader along with a custom ROM aswell so I'm not a complete noob.
Every where I look, the website is either not reliable or the guide is for the Xperia T or V. I'm a little worried about following an Xperia T guide so I just wanted to ask what would be best to do or if anyone has a guide that they can link me to?
Thanks in advance.

First.
Remove the mention of the app from the OP. Any mention of warez etc is banned from xda.
Secondly.
Just follow the instructions to root.
If you are on newer firmware 195 or 223 then flash a TX firmware that is 303 (Or equivalent)
Then use bin4rys method to root, then the method to update back to newer firmware whilst keeping root. Its all in that thread.
Same for me, it wasn't clear in that thread.

You just saved me and my phones life I just ordered a TL29i and it will arrive next week. First order of business is to root! Do these come with a locked bootloader? I know Sony has a website to unlock it for "developers."
It depends, I would have asked the people I was getting it from before you ordered it... Beyer hope it is otherwise there is no unofficial way to unlock yet

Hello, I picked up my Tmobile Z last week, I've decided to root it and getting ready to install a recovery, not sure what one yet.My question is and sorry if it has already been answered. I am trying to install a 4.2.2. Rom. From what I am understanding i have to flash a stock firmware from a 6603, please correct me if that's wrong? I've looked at a few but not sure what one I should be flashing. If anyone could point me in the right direction or give me some info it would be much helpful . I'm not new to flashing roms etc this is just my first locked down Sony I'm doing it on.

This is better posted in the general section. If you are already on 4.2.2 stock then you don't need to flash the stock Rom. Just install dual recovery ( instructions on the relevant thread) back up current Rom and flash whatever 4.2.2 custom Rom you want.

Yes It kept lte. didn't need to mess with any apns or anything... It Just works like it should.
Word of advice though... In the update, under xperia settings in the settings menu, there is an option to download apns for your carrier.. Don't do it. It wipes T-Mobile's lte apn and you have to remake it... I learned that the hard way...

You didn't do anything wrong, but currently Android 4.3 cant be rooted. if you want root, you have to flash 257 then 534 then root and OTA update to 257. and if you get OTA to the 290 android 4.3 you might keep root.
Do you know when root will be available for 4.3?

One of the 1st rules in XDA: Don't ask for ETAs
You must follow the threads and see, if one dev find a solution to root locked bootloader for 4.3. But take a look in the Xperia Z1 Android Development section. Or this thread, there a lot of hints and howtos for root.
Sorry I'm new! thanks for the tip!!

So I have rooted phones before. Htc g1, LG G2X and these were pretty straight forward. This sony is just something else. I have the build number 10.3.1.E.0.191 and cant find how to root this version. I have looked and only found other versions of this phone. The stock software is very boring and cm is one of my favorites. Links and instructions and very helpfull. Thanks for the help. The phone is a US TMOBILE PHONE C6606. Thanks

Why would you think your build number would change?
Look in the app drawer for SuperSU. If it's there, then you have root.
Edit - I see now that you mentioned CM in your original post. To answer that, you can only flash stock based custom roms as your bootloader is permanently locked and you need an unlocked bootloader to run the custom kernels required by CM/PAC/AOSP etc.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
So I have superuser. Sorry to ask so many questions but it has been a while. On my g2x i have boot manager. (hold up volume and power). So with locked boot manager I can flash roms? Is there any way to flash roms. I appreciate all the help
Install a recovery - XZDualRecovery
Then look in the development section for roms that are for locked bootloaders.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
http://nut.xperia-files.com/ so on the download page which one do i download. Theres no c6606 or xperia z? Only zl z ultra
So i installed the program. So i have the two bootloaders but now my computer wont recognize my phone.
-_____- How come i used that method and it didn't work. I got an error: "The system cannot find the path specified"
Okay so I followed all steps, installed adb killed the companion tool and it just hangs on starting Daemon

Hey guys and girls i've had my Xperia Z C6603 since it came out and I had rooted it since it was realeased to be able to but the other day I went to flash a custom ROM and bricked it. I then used the Sony tool to put the latest OFW on and reset it and then tried many different rooting methods with no luck.
I have the
C6603 on 4.4.2 and the.bootloader is not allowed to be unlocked.
Is it possible to flash a custom ROM and root it? And if so which method will work?
Its on 10.5.A.0.230 build :/

Indeed it does require an unlocked bootloader.
In your situation, the only way to gain root is to downgrade to a 4.2.2 firmware, root and flash a prerooted KitKat rom or a custom rom of your preference.

You're correct. There's no way to unlock your bootloader.
Yes, you will need to download a 4.2.2 firmware and flash it using Flashtool. This will probably require that you wipe your data, unfortunately.

When updating to a new ROM eg, one at 4.4.x do I really need to upgrade up each build version? I looked at the requirements and one requires the next down, and then again and I think I would need to do it like 4 times.
You shouldn't need to, as most custom roms provide everything you need. The zip sometimes contains everything or sometimes you have to use Flashtool to flash a supplied FTF for the kernel and baseband.
If you're unsure, you could ask in the specific thread for the rom.
