Hi guys
First of all I'm gonna say Omnirom is the best.
My GS3 (international) is now super smooth, it's way better than 4.3.
I've got 1 question however:
How can I root my phone now? I somehow expected my phone to remain rooted after installing Omnirom, but it didn't.
I've got CWM recovery. I tried CF auto root, but that didn't work.
Does anyone know how to get root acces on my GS3 (I9300)?
Kind regards
Joshua
You need to flash super su in recovery http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU.

Just moved from a trusty moto atrix to the Samsung galaxy s3 mini, this forum seems a little quieter than the atrix one primarily, I'm guessing because of the age of the device.
I'm running pre rooted ALL2 flashed using Odin. Just can't live without root! Super thank full for the peeps that worked that out.
I'd like to check that I'm on the right page so can anyone comfirm or deny the following statements:
- Now I'm running a pre rooted FW will I still receive OTA?
- I will loose root when installing OTA if available?
- is there anything that you think I should know?
Thanks guys

as the title says, is it poosible to root the XZ and still receive OTA?
I just want a rooted stock rom/phone with minimum fuzz and receive updates from sony(whenever they arrive).
No you can't, but the rom devs here are great and most of the time when a new firmware is pushed by Sony within a week or two you should be able to flash the update for whichever ROM you are using.
Sometimes that's a good thing as the two weeks allow you to find out if any new bugs are introduced.

You might have misunderstood him, it sounds possible to me, if you have a stock rom and you root it you should still get ota updates right? As i understand it its the only way to update and keep root.
Yes, you can root and stay stock. I am set that way on my Nexuis 4 and I true updates. Both TWRP and CWM will keep root. SuperSU also has a survival mode.
If I ha e time this weekend I will root the Z.

Yup. In fact, even on the S, that's one way you upgraded the OS but kept root - You would let the OTA do a standard upgrade on top of the rooted OS, and root was maintained.
As the updates are released, I'm sure we will see if or how this will continue to work.

excellent, for now I`m more than happy with the stock ROM. I think that Sony have done a fine job not to do so much! so it doesnt feel bloated.. had it been a samsung I`d have to change the rom just to get rid of the touchwiz..
How do i know which roms are compatible with the C6606? I tried flashing something once and i ended up bricked.
Would i NEED to unlock the bootloader to be able to install any mods/roms to it?
Every Rom from the Official Android Development forums need unlocked bootloader.
Try first rooting it with doomlords kit, then fire up XZDualRecovery, and finally install Monxdified from the Android Development forum. Don't know if it works, but it should. But you should know this will remove the T-mobile features like wifi call and so on

Well i had it rooted and i had CWM installed. The only thing I wanted to flash was the sound mod, but after installing it was stuck in a bootloop.
So would I need XZDualRecovery to install the soundmod?
Which sound mod Did you wanted to install? You only need a Recovery for installing mods.
I recommend you to install Viper4Android Fx edition. It's the best Soundmod i can find.
Just google for Viper4Android look how to install. At driver install you have to choose Cortex A8 with Neon
Maybe your mod wasn't compatible with the C6606

Had the same thing happen, using Android 4.4 / Sense 5.5. I've denied the request and have not noticed any problems as a result.
Same here. I have noticed that my dialer seems to use an huge amount of battery after a root request, too. Not really sure why.

There is more to life than custom ROM's.
That said, many of the apps that require root have alternatives for people without root.
For example, Adaway requires root, while AdBlockPlus works without root.
They perform the same functionality, just with different permissions.
The only reason I am not yet ready to give up root is Viper4Android is the best app for tweaking audio,
and without root it is impossible to remove crapware

There is another reason for actually. .. it is adding arabic language to the system and the only way is by using root permissions

You can flash a ROM without root. You just need a PC and software that bypasses the locked bootloader so you can flash the custom ROM onto your device. I recommend the SP Flash Tool for Windows if you don't want to root your phone and still run a custom ROM.

SAD. like I said earlier, it is still impossible to install a custom ROM without root.
If you really need root, you could try looking on Swappa for one that either has root or has an early enough build date to obtain root.
I have the same Build: G925VVRU4BOG7 and have been looking for root options for months now. I just received access to Samsung Pay which I'm pretty excited to check out (and I heard can be lost if you trip KNOX), but I still would like root as this is the only phone I've owned which can't be rooted.
Additionally, I JUST received a software update notification... I'm user what to do. If I update, maybe someone will figure out a way to root the new version. However, if I do update and then someone finds a root method for G925VVRU4BOG7, I will probably shoot myself in the kneecap lol.
Does anyone have any suggestions for accepting the software update? Thank you!

if I were in your shoes I would take the update. there is no clue when or even if root will ever be achieved on 5.1 for the Verizon variants
