So this is my first time using a non-stock ROM, and this might be incredibly stupid--but I can't find any information elsewhere.
I just switched to Cyanogenmod on my HTC One and now I'm trying to activate with Sprint it but I literally have no idea how. The only info Sprint has is to go through their "hands free activation" but that's only prompted when you use the stock Sense ROM, and I don't have any backups to that ROM.
Any ideas on how to get it up and running again?

I have a non sprint unbranded HTC Hero (through GCI in alaska). Does anyone know if a non-sprint htc hero can flash a sprint rom and still work on a non sprint network? I have been using the leaked modified ROMs such as damage control and fresh just fine but I was told using the sprint one may jack up my phone. Since the customized ROMs are now being based off that I am worried about downloading any new ROMs or the official sprint one. Anyone happen to know?
THANK YOU!

This is more or less belongs in the q&a section. But to answer your question yes it will. You will have to get your apn settings and manually program them in your phone. But everything else should work. I would suggest you use the flashrec method and make a nandroid then try apn manager to see if you can just put your apn settings on your new rom
I am still new to CDMA phones. When you say APN settings do you mean the settings the carrier puts in when they program it at the desk. Such as the MIN # and such?
And when you say flash rec method, you mean copying over the ROM file to the SD card and doing the whole power+volume then pressing home and flashing from feature thing?
And if thats the case, does that mean ill have to use one of these custom ROMs here and not the sprint one? (I havent tried installing the sprint one but in the past its usually an executible and runs itself)
Thx for answering all my noob question, someone else did the rooting for my phone and im slowly learning. Never been too great at the phone thing.
I just reread your first post and you say that you've used damages rom and not had any problems then you should be good to use any rom just make sure to do a nandroid backup before you do anything else

I've really been doing this whole root thing because I wanted 2.1 early, but now that sprint has released an official one id really like to use it. Do you think its safe to use the official one on my non sprint hero?
Thx again for all your help, im just worried about bricking my phone or making it unusable on my network.
I have already upgraded to the EVO, and am going to be giving my GF my old hero. I am on Fresh Rom right now, and it doesnt seem to have the phone codes installed so I can activate it on her account. does anyone know where I can find a rooted stock rom, or a different custom rom that has the phone codes installed so I can activate this phone on another account? Thanks in advance.
Nevermind, I found what I was looking for.
Hey guys, I'm pretty new to Android really, a few months back I bought a G1 to dabble with it, but through some conflicting information and me screwing it up basically - I bricked it.
Now, I've upgraded my contract to a Wildfire, with 3 UK. It's a branded device, with their logo on boot, and Planet 3 app etc..
I've had a fiddle with the basic stuff, finding my way around and that, but I'd like to gradually take it further.
For now, I don't need the latest and greatest, so I don't want to go down the way of custom ROMs etc.
What I do want, is to have it think it's a generic HTC Wildfire, no network brandings, so that when HTC rolls out a release (As they have 2.2 this week) I can get it then, but I don't need to flash myself with CyanogenMod or whatever.
I wondered if it is possible to do this by removing the CID somehow?
Basically, I'm a noob, and I don't know if it's possible or not, but I pretty much want to just stop my phone thinking it's 3 branded, and get a stock HTC ROM on there, so that I can update it OTA as and when HTC roll them out.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT:
I have read about GoldCards, I know that they allow you to flash a ROM different from what your CID allows by bypassing it - but I'm not really sure if that's what I describe above or not. If I created a GoldCard, and flashed a stock HTC ROM via it, would I then be able to update it to 2.2, and further in the future OTA just as if I'd bought an unlocked device?
Quick update,
I've created a GoldCard successfully, and have rooted and installed CWMod recovery, and made nandroid backup.
Can I put any ROM on, such as this HTC stock "Buzz" one, or might it not work because of different radio/SPL or something?
Not sure if the one I use will have to be Wildfire specific, or radio specific or whatever?
Hi im new to the forms an i have a few rooting questions. I have an HTC Hero CDMA, but it's running on metropcs (which leads me to belive that is has already been rooted). I want to root my phone yet i dont know if i can because i think it is already rooted. If i were to "reroot" my phone will the careier information be deleted? Is there a way to backup my curent "stock" rom? And if i can backup my curent rom will my carier information be saved as well? I also wanted to know if i can somehow set my carier info manually, in the event that after rooting my phone it doesn't connect to metorpcs.

Rooting Won't Mess up Anything...
A Quick way to see if your Rooted is to Simply Install a Application that Requires Root!
Next if you Do have Root Install Tomorrow Manager and Flash a Recovery and Make a Nandroid Backup of your Current Rom, this way you can Always go back if something goes Wrong!
Okay, so first and foremost I am a giant noobasaurusrex. Just thought I'd get that out there.
So here is my issue, I just purchased my HTC one from Sprint and was eager to root the phone and flash new roms. As a result, I unlocked my bootloader, installed a recovery, and tried to flash this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023
I now realize that this is for the international version of the HTC one, not the CDMA/sprint version. I had created a backup before flashing and I tried to restore it but it does not work; the phone will boot into the OS but there is no radio, wallpaper, etc and it freaks out and restarts sporadically.
I am currently downloading the RUU for sprint and am really hoping it will fix my issues, however the filesize is huge and my internet is terribly slow. If anyone has any suggestions which do not require the massive download (~8hrs) I would be greatly appreciative.

The only options are to flash the backup or the RUU, preferably the latter. So no way around the download time
