[Q] New files not seen on SD card - Asus Transformer TF701

Hello to all.
I encounter the following problem with my TF701.
When I insert an SD card on which I added files since the last time I inserted it, the latest files are not all seen by the explorer.
Have you encountered the same problem (and possibly found a solution) ?
Thank you in advance.

The last file, added recently, is not shown by the file explorer.
If I wait a long time (some hours), and insert the card again, the file is finally shown (sounds like a cache problem).
I have checked the card (check disk on my PC) : it is OK.

If they show up then it sounds like the system is having a problem with that particular card. I assume they are not massive files?

Excuse me for the late answer.
I had changed my e-mail address and forgot to click on the "verify e-mail" link.
So I had not the permission to post.
So, my answer is :
The card seems to work fine on a PC :
All the files are seen on my Windows 7 PC.

Radio v. 1.10.0

I have O2 XDA III (german), with radio rom v.1.10.0.
I've tried to find the way how to backup that rom and upload it to FTP. Can someone tell me how to do that. I've searched the wiki, but I didn't found the real solution.
Do I need to use XDArit or XDAtools? Can I do it under Win98, or I need WinXP/2000?
I have SD card and SD card reader.
I've described the process here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18128#98117
You can do this under Win98.

I've tried this and it doesn't work. When I press ok, I don't get terminal window. I've also tried this using COM2 (thats my modem) and it works fine, but with usb I don't get nothing
you should terminate Activesync before running MTTY. Kill processes wcescomm.exe and wcesmgr.exe with task manager and enter bootloader on your device (press and hold power+camera buttons and reset). The screen would write "serial ...", insert it into cradle, screen would write "USB ...". Run MTTY, select "usb" or "\\.\wcescom01" port and everything should work.
And don.t forget to do a backup, this will hard reset your device.
Thanks in advance for sharing your Radio! I've asked in any Forum, i know, but nobody seemed to cooperate. So it is great hearing somebody helps us.

The problem was in win98, in WinXP everything worked fine. So, this stuff doesn't work with win98. When I backuped it, I couldn't transfer the backup on my computer (ntrw transfers 256Mbytes and says that something is wrong with the image). I think the problem is that I have MMC card, not SD card. I should get SD card today, and I hope that everything will work then.
Hope the upload will work, just put it in the root dir, as you can not put it in any of the folders.
Curious to see if this further improves GSM/GPRS etc...cheers!
Can't wait to hear the feedback on the 1.10 radio. I was going to go 1.08 but seems like a waste when this one is so close.
Ok, HappyGoat, do you have the path you saved too for this magic Radio?
1.08 is nice, works fine. Of course I must upgrade for no reason other than insanity, hence Im looking for the file.
Thanks
Rich
Is it also possible to extract the whole ROM from your device, so that I can update my SPV M2000 with your O2 ROM?
Any news about this new radio rom?

The Radio 1.08.00 is available again on the ftp server. Have a look in the BlueAngel folder, it's in there.
Any progress on getting the radio 1.10.00 version...?
I've borrowed SD card from a friend, and I have to bring it back until saturday. So, I need some quick answers.
It is 256Mbyte SD card. I've done the procedure of backup like instructed. You can see my log in attachment.
After that I put the card in Transcend 7 in 1 card reader. I've used ntrw to backup the SD on my computer, but something is wrong. It creates 256MByte file on my computer. The picture of console window is in attachment. I did like I was instructed, and i've also tried "d2s" (to backup only WinCE) and all combinations (only Radio Rom etc.), but the result is the same.
Any suggestions? I really need to do this quickly.
Try this command in DOS:
Code:
C:\ntrw read XDAIIs.nb1 i:
Just might work, not sure. In either case, thanks alot for trying and sharing this with us...
No ideas?

DreamerNS,
it is normal that you get a 256MB file, because your card has this kind of size!
The ntrw tool makes a full copy of your SD card it don't know how much data on your card is stored.
So make a full backup of your XDA, zip the 256MB file and upload the file to the ftp site.
Greetings
osch

No. It is just filename, you can put anything you like there. it can be xdaIIs.nb1 or xdaIII.nb1 or IdontKnow.nb1 it doesnt change things, but thanks anyway.
It's too much for me to upload 256Mbytes. I have only dialup connection. Is there any way to extract radio rom from 256Mbyte file? If everything is allright, why is it says "ReadFile(): xdaIII.nb1 -- parameter is incorect"?
DreamerNS,
The unused bytes in the 256MB file will probably be zeros, and should compress to just a few kb.
Back in the days when mp3 FTP sites were all the rage (before P2P) I used to take advantage of highly compressable data like that. Sometimes you'd get a site where you'd have to upload a certain amount of MP3s before you could download. All you'd have to do is create a huge black .BMP file and rename it .mp3. Thanks to dial up modems automatic compression, you could upload a 10MB "mp3" in seconds! Hehehe

Going back to the problem, is I: the correct drive letter for your card reader's SD slot?

USB Transfer Problem. Help!

Hi all, can anyone sort this -
When i connect via usb i choose 'disk drive' to transfer files/music etc to the phone. Everty time i try to transfer anything it says on the PC (windows xp) 'cannot copy xxxx - the path is too deep'
Has anyone else had any problems or does anyone have any ideas? Thanks
My first reaction is to say that wherever you're trying to copy from or too has a long pathname. Are you trying to copy individual files or whole folders, and where are you trying to copy from/to (e.g. My Documents)?

It doesn't matter how long the filename is it still says it. I've tries individual files and full folders but still the same. And i've tried copying from/to all sorts of different places but still no joy???
Hmmm. Maybe the way that Windows is transferring files is malfunctioning. This is definitely an advanced problem, which requires an expert.
*Waits for expert*
First of all, try another USB port. If that doesn't work, try this, in order. stop after the diamond works:
1- uninstall/reinstall activesync, then try accessing files with it.
2- Stop the Diamond usb drive by clicking the safely remove device icon. Then plug it again.
3- Uninstall all USB Root hub in your windows device manager, then reboot computer.
4- Hard Reset device.
5- Reinstall Windows
6- Return Device.
Can you try moving a file name with 8 chacters or less from your c:\ to the phone? Eg c:\song.mp3 to your phone
Also, what OS are you using? What file system does the phone 'disk' show up as in windows?

It shows as fat32. ?
this simply means the files are under a folder tree with too deep or too long with characters. such as:
C:\My Documents and Settings\Andrew Loh\Documents\my structural folders\andrew loh\scanning\pdf\finanacial documents\banking stuff\hong kong bank\bank statement\date 2008-06-09\page 1\200806091211224412.pdf
Simpliest thing first.....take your diamond to another computer.....confirm if it's computer problem or diamond problem

It seems related to FAT system I guess.
Could you try to format the disk from PC when connected as DISK mode and try to copy file or folder again?
This might be helpful.

Right - i've tried to transfer files from a different pc via 'disk mode' and it worked fine.
I can transfer stuff from mine via active sync but it takes ages transferring albums etc. It must be some setting on my computer causing the problem, although i don't have problems transferring things to sd cards etc. Any ideas?
For the love of God...
Hi All,
This seems like a very old problem but as far as I can tell, was never resolved or someone didn't share their solutions with the rest of us lovely newbies!
Unfortunately for me I am now having the same problem and after searching the forums it led me to this thread (along with two others that didn't have any difinitive answers either). When trying to copy anything that is within a folder from my comp (be it from a partitioned drive or the desktop of the root C: drive) I get the error "Cannot Copy ****ath is too deep".
After much trawling on the internet I found some third party software that should have solved the problem. No such luck , when using that I get a "semaphore timeout error". Next I try to direct extract from a .rar file to the internal memory and it tells me the reason it can't complete is that "the disk may be full".
As it stands now; I've formatted my phone's internal storage (and then had to transfer all programs one by one back over from my comp), enabled DMA transfer from the Device Manager in Windows XP and still no luck at all.
Could someone please shed some light on this as (as you could probably tell by the long winded post) I'm at my wit's end with this despite loving the phone in general!
Cheers in advance,
Night
I also have the same problem,
When i use activesync, big files like movies can only be put on the device itself, not the internal memory of 4g.
When i use the diskdrive option, the computer sees it als an usb storage, but files cannot be transferred, because of the "path is too deep" error.
in dutch it is called "pad is te lang", any options?
Also does someone know where to buy the official extended battery in Holland, because bol.com cannot deliver and other sites are way expensive.
Ok, just fixed it.
I turned off the activesync software in windows.
Connected the device to my usbconnector on the back of the pc (a 2.0 usbdrive)
Then it worked! Now 755 mb of .mp4 movie on the device...
i dont know if someone still got such a problem. I got it today and solved it with flashing an other rom on it from the Ruu.

SD Card Rescan Takes over 5 mins after Root

Hi ,
I rooted my phone using these instructions, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818502 - [GUIDE][ROOT] How to Root your LG Optimus 4X HD (O4X P880)- Successfully! Made a backup with CWM, and rebooted a couple of times. I have noticed now though, that it takes at least 5 mins to rescan my 32G SD card, when before it was super quick. I tried the "adb shell rm /data/local.prop" but the file had already been removed. I uninstalled SystemBackupTest as suggested, and have had no other issues.
Can anyone think of any reasons this may be happening?

New CWM making backups on thousand files so when system checks for media it goes trough all that files and that’s why checking is slow. If this is your case you may try to find cwm backup directory and insert in there empty file with name '.nomedia' .

Sorry. . You may have to copy .nomedia file to all folders or maybe there is option to force cwm to make only one zip file (old format).
Thanks anyway I tried putting it in multiple folders. Just need to find the right one...

download OI FIle Manager, go to the cwm backup folder and press menu > exclude from media scan (in that direction)
it wont be included, its an .nomedia file but it worked for me, making it myself did not work
try- media rescan root - and disable scanning SDcard-

I think this is a bug!
This problem will be found when using the C-RoM C-RoM V6, now in use by the C-RoM C-RoM v7.0, still ……
Some little tangled and sorrow ~
may be, then you might find better answer on the C Rom thread.

I found where the problem, some powerful cleaning software will delete empty folders, such as Jinshan cleanmaster.
Solution: built in SD under the new "Pictures" folder and create "Screenshots" folder in the directory(/sdcard0/Pictures/Screenshots).
Okay that was the problem not saving the screenshot
From time to time i delete the folder "pictures" as well ...but under CM it seems that there is a check if the folder is available or not ...and when not it gets created ...

[Q] Folder structure when in USB mode

Hi,
when I connect my new Z1 to the pc via usb cable, file explorer shows me the structure/files in attachment
As you can see there are already two files named DOCUMENTS and PICTURES: they have no extensions, they are not a folder, still if I try to create new folders named DOCUMENTS and PICTURES it won't allow?
What are these files? Can I delete them?
I've never seen this, very odd. I don't have those files and my phone is working perfectly fine so I assume you should be safe deleting them. Other than that, have you tried opening them using notepad(++) and see what they contain?
Edit:
Regarding the issue of creating folders, this could be due to MTP derping, try re-connecting your phone or rebooting your phone and try again.
