Day 3 and Im very pleased with this phone. The smoothness, speed, and non lag or freezes fills like Iphone quality. I know that the 1st complaints about WP7 was the ugly square tiles but now that Im using the OS and all that comes with it, I love it! Its all microsoft had claimed it would be. Its Very easy to manage and hassle free! Its just a breath of fresh air not having to deal with so many home screens and/or feeling like having to pass thru an obstacle course to do anything. I believe they went the wright direction with this OS, its simple looking but modern @ the same time. Transitions and effects are very smooth. My only complaint is the external sound quality of the speakers but HTC does have an audio enhancer app (free available) so lets see if that does the trick. But overall Its definitely a beautiful solid device. P.S. for those a little upset on not having a removable SD card, you do get 25g of storage on Skydrive so that kinda works out pretty good all tho I heard that it does come with a SD card, its just hidden. But it will void your warranty if you remove the sticker above it.
i have had mine for about 24 hours and yes it is a great device, cant keep my hands off it.i just cant wait for more apps and games.i would love to play tiger woods on this big screen.
the phone itself is pretty solid; the plastic back is a non-factor to me. screen is vivid enough that i dont care that it isnt amoled. although i do wish that the headphone hole is on top instead of bottom

I've seen many complaints about the headphone jack location-- I'm genuinely curious why you prefer that? My experience with top headphone jacks is that the cable always gets in the way of the screen.

I really miss having LED notifications and for me the battery life is TERRIBLE. Just using my phone for texts and emails all day at work im down to nothing and have to charge it. This is NO browsing or media at all. I feel thats bad.
Headphone hole on top or bottom for me i dont mind but coming off the Samsung Vibrant its a relief to have the usb on the bottom cause charging the phone in the car and talking on the Vibrant at the same time was a pain.
just came back from the T-Mobile store and I have to say this phone is even better than I expected. Microsoft has really done an amazing job for this mobile OS. I never thought I would ever see Microsoft eclipsing iOS when it comes to fluid and seamless user experience but WP7 has done exactly that. Those that said Microsoft is not going after Android but iOS, they were absolutely right.
I just couldn't believe that I was actually enjoying such speed on a last gen cpu based phone whereas the MT4G just sitting next to it seemed like last gen, weird! Pinch to zoom is even better than the Apple 4G and just the overall experience feels very next gen as I'm just tired of the endless widget based UI, but that's just me. To those that are still sitting on the fence, I just want to say that before you make a decision based on forums and youtube videos, go to your nearest T-Mobile store and test the HD7 out for yourself. I'm glad I did.
1 full day
I'm liking it pretty well. Here is a couple of things:
The voice dialing is dead on, but it looks like I have to go back thru my 1200 contacts and change all the "car" #'s to "other" because they are not showing up...it may confuse it to have a "mobile" # and a "car" # for the same contact.
It appears to have really good reception (I have used a Fuze, Sprint Epic, G2, and MyTouch 4G from the basement of a custom home our company is building and the HD7 has done the best on pulling in a signal).
From what I have looked at on the Market, it appears that many apps are just not prime time yet, but let's hope they get better.
One thing I REALLY want to see is Speech to Text on this phone. If they could get Dragon Dictate like whats on the MyTouch 4G, this phone would be exactly what I would want in a phone.
I'll add some more later.
this phone provides the best 'out of the box' experience that I've ever had - by a long way.... Simply unpack and start using, very little modification necessary once you get used to the live tiles.
I do wonder if I'm going to get a bit bored with it though.... part of my 6.5.x enjoyment was 1) *****ing about poor performance and then 2) doing my best to resolve said performance issues. Don't think this is going to be necessary with the HD7 - as it just works.
not a bad problem to have I guess......

I'm hearing that a lot, that's not good.
I agree with that, the battery could be better. I still dont understand why they keep building these awesome devices with poor battery life.

I don't have this problem. I streamed tmobile tv for half a day and only 1/4 of the battery was gone, that include browsing, play twin blade, use voice search, voice dial, looking up maps, making phone calls and textings.
Did you guys bleed your battery first or just charged it to full and started using it?

i found a 1500mha battery made by htc and fits like oem.. the htc wildfire uses it.. gonna go ahead and order that one.
tonight it was the first time taking pics in the dark and i have to say the flash is to damn intense.. need to be far from object otherwise u blind the **** out of people, lol ..there is no brightness setting ...i also found the camera botton not that soft to press ..u have to kinda press it some how a bit hard .. im gonna have to go back to store and check the other hd7
Gotta say, after the first few day's use, the battery on my wife's phone is doing really well. Don't get me wrong, she's not hammering it during the day, although I do in the evening, but last night it still had about 1/3 of the battery left (according to the little icon anyway which is infuriatingly difficult to interpret!).
The bigger battery sounds promising though!

are you sure it fits? let us know if it works, if it does work ill buy one too.
Searching Google lists many 1500mha batteries for the HD7..now im curious.
Just ordered one. We will see.
The biggest battery saving step I took was going into settings->email and accounts, and for each account, making sure 'download content' wasn't set to 'as they arrive'.
Unless push email is vital to you, this changed my phone from lasting about 6 hours to lasting 48.

One-week Review
I myself bought this phone a week back, and I must say, I am happy with the phone.
Fortunately, I didn't have the touch problem in my device. When connected to USB though,
the voltage levels are screwed somehow and the touch behaves abnormally. But still,
files can be transferred with ease. The processor is kick-ass! And also the notification LED!
The battery drain is there, which stems from the various junk-ware installed, but mainly due to
Media Storage and the Google Location Sync. Camera is pretty good for me. However, one downside
I found is the Wi-Fi reception. Sucks big-time! Keeps dropping signals frequently, however does not
affect speed when connected.
Taking both downsides and advantages of this phone, I am in love with my device! Rest is up to you
to decide whether the downsides are grave enough for you to change your choice to another model!
All the best! :good:

Thx for the reply bro but is the wifi suck like the ipad 2 cus I have ipad 2 Ios6.1 and the internet connection is very bad so I guess it ok if I have this problem cus my WiFi router is in my mom room

Biggest negative point of Xperia SP is its camera. Daytime photography is ok but nighttime pictures are crap. As u mentioned that the wifi router is in your mom's room so the wifi signal strength would be fine. Few people have reported the touch problem but that is when the phone is connected to USB cable or wall charger. Other times the touch response is great. The display is sharp and colours are good, but it is a bit reflective. This issue is when outdoors, but one can always increase the screen brightness.
Best part is the performance for its cost & that LED notification bar, makes the phone look sexy.
So if camera is not the most important requirement, go for it bro.

This issue is with almost all the Sony phones & not only the Xperia SPs. That is because the display used by Sony in their phones is not as good as the display used by some other manufactures like Samsung, HTC etc. However the problem is not severe. You can still use it outdoors if you manually increase the screen brightness a bit. I am from India & even my model is C5302. I have not faced any phone restart issue with my SP till now.
Good luck with your purchase & wish your mom a happy birthday.
P.S. Try to use the "thanks" button (on left side, below the profile picture) for saying thanks. It reduces the number of unnecessary posts written just for saying thanks.

You can have a look at Glaxy S4 mini, Nexus 4 or Glaxy S3. These cost about same as Xperia SP or slightly more. Xperia L is also an option.
But as far as value for money is concerned I feel Xperia SP & Xperia L are better.
I'm planning on buying a xperia z, but with all upgrades there's a few things I have to check before I can commit on buying a new phone.
1 - how stable are the cm10.2 builds ? Such as battery performance ?
2 - battery performance on stock firmware ?

The battery life is pretty bad OP to answer your question honesty. Also the screen is poor, which may bother you. (very bad contrast and viewing angles). Aside from that it is good. Great design, definitely turns heads
Go look at battery tests, S4 sits as one of the top.

yep, two people on this site get battery life like this...
Seems legit.
Go check any battery tests on gsmarena, etc.. Did not fare especially well.
I mean it isn't horrid, but 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours of screen on time isn't anything to write home about
Depends
Depends on how you intend on using it.
If you're a avid gamer, then I probably would not recommend it. Battery life when gaming is average or below average.
However if you're not, and gaming is reserved for the tablet, then I highly recommend it.
Aside from being one of the most beautiful phones out there, you can get it for quite a good price now. Performance is, honestly, all you really need at the moment.
Despite what people say, the screen is very sharp (admittedly viewing angles are not the best, but it's not a concern for me as I pretty much always view it front on. Also when you think about it, you get more privacy).
Battery life is not bad at all (if you don't run heavy games all the time). On screen time varies and can be between 3.5 - 5 hours or so, but don't be obsessed with the times though, just enjoy it. Unless you have nothing to do all day then it's quite hard to run out of battery during the day. Talk times and quality are pretty good.
Loving my Z, I can't say that this phone is the best at anything, but all together as a package it's quite awesome. Waterproofing is a bonus.
Give it a 0.2 mm thick back cover, custom rom, maybe a sound mod and I guarantee you won't regret buying one!
Coming from my beloved ville, I'm just looking at phones with 2gigs of ram and a quad cpu, and good dev support. its between these 4 phones at the moment
-nexus 4 (mainly for support and xda support)
-s3 i9305 ( better then the s3 as it was an extra gig of ram)
-note 2 (big ass screen)
-Sony xperia z (1080 screen)
Im not the hugest phone gamer, i mainly use my device for Instagram, tumblr, and other networking apps. Iv watched a few reviews on all 4 phones and I'm kinda leaning towards the s3 and the sony ATM. Its just the screen problems (battery drain, and poor viewing angles)

My advice is not to be overly fussy about what you're looking at. By the time you decide, a bunch of new phones will be released and you'll have to start all over again.
IMO all 4 phones have all the goods you need to do what you want. For what you want to do, battery life on all 4 would be sufficient for a whole day.
They are really not all that different unless you go into the tiny details. Honestly, in my experience, being overly focused on the details will make you regret your purchase no matter what you buy.
I understand why iPhone lovers can be much less stressed with their phone choice because there is really no choice for them. I prevents them from feeling bad about making the wrong decision We all know that the iPhone is not the best but it's owners are happy. For android lovers there is a paradox of choice........ which in this case is a bad thing.
So try to look at it a different way.
Since it will be with you everyday, think about which phone matches you as a person, just like when you're choosing clothes, or a car. E.g if your practical or stylish. Reckless or careful etc.
I got the Z because I like style. You may think it may be a bit superficial but the viewing angles are really irrelevant when you think about it. When would you ever need wide viewing angles anyway? It's not like you have a group of 4-5 friends watching a movie on it all the time (if at all). I don't see anyone tilting their phones at an angle to use it. TV, yes, but phone, no. Everything is pretty much on par with the rest of them (except for maybe battery life on the Note 2, but it's too big IMO)
Trust me. Thinking about it this way will allow you to enjoy your phone more and not regret buying it.
If you ask me, I would recommend the XZ, S3, Nexus 4, Note 2 in that order.

It isn't just viewing angles though, the screen is extremely washed out looking with bad contrast.
But view angles matter if, for example, your phone is laying down on your desk and you turn it on to glance at the time, a text message, etc.. It isn\t extreme angles, it is unreadable if you aren't looking at it directly on.
I own a note 2 and this phone, I wish I could have the two make a baby.
I love the design of this phone, but the screen really gets me down :/
Spending that much money, you shouldn't have to "settle"

well... at first my s4 got 4 hours of screen time (set on low brightness) after a couple of months it was 2,5.. the samsung batteries are very bad..
the screen is poor... yes... but i like it better, the screen is more visible in the sun compared to the s4... i dont really like the oversaturated screen of the s4 anyway... so win win
great design... that is one of the things.. and waterproof... that was actually why i wanted to change... on my s4 i always ended up hitting the screen when touching the damn buttons and it made me angry in the end.
what amazes me.. is that the camera is the same but samsung has made a better firmware.. the camera works very well on s4.. and the z has a very poor camera compared... focus is not great, black dots etc, low light grain and such... EXMOR surely is just a name.. not worth anything imo

Strange must have been a rogue app, I've had my note since it came out and battery life is the same as it was.
You can change to natural mode in screen settings to completely get rid of the oversaturation.
I definitely agree the z's design is amazing. Easily one of the nicest, if not the nicest, looking android phones there is.
What I don't get is why there is macro mode on Samsung but not Sony :/

It's a good phone for the price. It's got a sd slot which is always appreciated. Performance is fine and it's got 2gb ram, that will make it last at least 2 years.
The screen is fine for me. Yes, viewing angles aren't great but nothing to worry about, unless you watch very dark movies at night.
Battery is average, standby time is quite good, screen time goes from 2h - 5h depending on what you do.
Haven't tried cm10.2 but Sony stock firmware is quite vanilla.
It all depends on what do you want, how much do you want to spend, etc.

well... the phone was deep sleeping properly... so i dont know why the battery was that bad... at least now i can say that my phone has used 60% for 2 hours 10 minutes screen time, 1 hour of calls, sms and web usage... with 2 days of standby... i am not unhappy with that.
all stock.. no root or anything.. i have relocked as i need to get the camera fixed... as i have quite a few black dots... when i get it back.. i will root and unlock the bootloader..

I love the pure Google experience but internal memory and battery capacity of Nexus 5 is just killing me. I would go for G2, but I heard it struggles with poor internal memory performance. Can anyone confirm it with KK onboard? My N5 is .84 rw. Which one has better community support? I would probably flash cm/omni. And Im considering 16GB Z1 vs 32GB G2. I like the feeling of N5, and that's why Im a bit scared of Z1 huge frame, but stable and fully functional pure Google is the most important for me.

Do you care about horrible viewing angles? I mean horrible.
As long as they are not worse than in my TFT desktop monitor, I'm fine with that. Are they worse than in Xperia S? Cause those are almost unacceptable.

I came from Experia Z and truly don't go for a Z model, screen is horrible, camera is horrible "noise!", battery more horrible than N5. Don't do it!. Today I bought a additional battery for my N5 which easy to replace..

They're worse. The Z2 fixed that though. It also has a much better camera algorithm. The z1 is full of noise.

The only horrible thing is the community, that writes crap about this nice device every time ...
I can tell you (with many hours of testing Z1, G2, S4, etc. that the Z1 is by far the best device out of the top devices at the moment... for sure you will have to know, what you are doing (and seemingly no one here does) ... i'm a photograph and have to say that the camera is brilliant (for a mobile camera) ... you just have to choose manual iso and such things, cause the automatic is (as always at EVERY camera) not the best for all situations ... e.g. if you shoot pics at night, the automatic mode gains the iso to maximum ... this will for sure make you able to shoot pictures that look like at evenig, not at night, but will gain the noise to a max ... if you choose wisely (e.g ISO 400) at night shots and hold the camera still you will get good pictures ...
i may upload a few examples today or tomorrow ..
the display: Yes, it is not such a good viewing angle as on new IPS-Panels or something ... BUT ... do you want everyone in a train e.g. be able to look and read everything on your display? Me not ... It's important to have enough angle to watch videos or look at photos (espacially for me) without getting wrong colors or something ... and THAT is what the Z1 does ...not more, but not less ...
so why is the z1 better than evey other mobile available?!
- it's water resistant (and yes, i testet it half an hour fully under water) ...
- its aluminium frame with saphire glass on both sides (yes it is) gives it a nice finish (im sure you can even let it fall on a stone without braking it, but not tested - it just falls periodically from my table on the carpet - ca 1m - and is still alive )
- the dev community is good
- the battery life is the longest for those cpus and displays
- the camera is awsome
- the display (triluminos) is brilliant with true colors, good contrast, etc ...
- sony delivers good support
- the sound that comes out of this mobile (even with just the headset in the package) is amazingly brilliant - with good earphones it's for sure the best i ever heard (sony has much experience cause of the walkman devices and such things ...)
- it comes out of the box with very cool features such as the stamina mode (wich works brilliant - no need for any other battery apps or task killers) or the ability to bind an DualShock-Controller to the mobile for gaming e.g. ... and much more ...
so enough said .. haters will allways hate ... but i will never give my z1 away ... it's the best phone i ever head in my hands (and i've had more then enough) ...mybe the z2 will be the replacement for the z1 in a while ... but at the moment there is nothing better available ...
EHHHM .. just to be clear ... im reporting about the standard german nonbranded C6903 .. i heard that some other countrys and models may have other display panels and may be worse than the "normal" device ... don't know, what is exactly true about this .. i can only tell you something about German unbranded C6903 which is mine and the mobile of 2 friends of me .. all working without problems ...
I sign this

I have the Z1, but the only reason I went for it instead of the G2 is because I need more than 32GB storage and I care about the materials / build quality of a product a lot. I guess if those things are important to you, go for the Z1, otherwise the G2 is probably better than the Z1 in every way really (especially the display and the size of phone to size of screen ratio. Z1 has HUGE bezels)

Well, I do not think there is anything more to say :good:
Why everyone is complaining about Z1?
I have a Z1 and i LOVE IT!
Ok, my first impression wasnt the best (touch issues), but i replace it and now its perfect!
My battery can hold for 2 days with wifi and 4g the entire time, twitter, facebook, email, linkedin, everything connected and i play on my free times. TWO DAYS!
I dont have any problem with the angle because i dont use my phone looking from the sides (who do this?) when i use it the screen is in front of me, so not a problem.
Its water resistent, do you need more? (oh, but i dont live inside a pool bla bla bla, neither me, but is something to consider on a top end phone).
Performance is unbelievable! Im using stock ROM from Sony and is fast, stable, beautiful.
The camera is noisy? Yes, but ONLY on AUTO mode, change to MANUAL and do some basic camera ajustments, you will see a new camera, very clear photos even at night.
Internal storage 16gb, yes, this is crap, but i have 12 games installed and more 2gb of music without a SD Card, so all depends on your use.
So if you want a perfect phone, buy the Z1 or the brand new Z2, both of the phones are incredible!
I also agree.
I sold a Galaxy S4 and caught a Z1 and do not regret it.
I Make excellent pictures in Manual mode (the best camera on a smartphone).
Viewing angles never bothered me, so I usually look at the screen from the front.
Quality construction and water resistance = Perfect!
Excellent battery life.
G2 / N5 = plastic phones, no sdcard slot, no real good cameras, no water resistant, no great battery life.
Conclusion: Today, Z1 is the best option. If you can wait, buy a Z2 or HTC One 2 (M8). These will be better than Z1.
I would say the technical best devices are the HTC One or the Xperia Z series. If you compare the Z, Z1 and Z2 the differences are minimal. Because of that you can decide by the amount of money you want to spend for a mobile phone. I am sure after the Z2 reaches the market, the prices for Z and Z1 will be lowered.

few things i'd like to reply on:
first a few things that are not quite right:
display:
the triluminos display may seem brilliant, but is has it downsides. for those who are in this stuff, this video is pretty nice. well aside from that, it just has to look good right? wich it, in my opinion, does.
sound:
well yeah, with headphones it's definitly something, but without? ouch...
screen:
it's dragontail glass not saphire glass (source)
positive:
camera:
the camera is excellent IF you know how to use it. The G2 does decent pictures without questions, but they are heavily post processed. It may not be visible for the normal user, but if you're in that photo stuff the z1 should do better.
take a look at this page for further information.
but this should all be in vain, because those are stock roms, who really knows how the perform on custom roms?
battery:
it's huge. i came from Xperia S what lasted about 10 Hours with my usage. The Z1 easily gets over 2 Days with wifi, gps, mobile allways on. Additionally i receive quite a few push messages.
edit:
i love my Z1
owned both (Z1 & G2) and I would definitely recommend the G2
Both are good phones...and I was in the exact same position choosing between the G2 and Z1. Yes the Z1 can have images with noise but I've managed to get a good technique with all the tips from XDA members...people are always complementing my Z1 camera
Ultimately it's down to what you want;

So if you want custom roms the G2 is hands down the winner compared to the Z1 with a permanently locked bootloader (i.e. not unlockable). However if you can get a unlockable Z1 it's about even. If not the stock Z1 is still really good and very close to pure google experience once you root and clean things up with titanium backup.
If I could choose again I would probably go for the G2 since I prefer messing around with custom roms (although I would miss the solid premium feel the Z1 has...so maybe I'd try harder to source an unlockable Z1 :silly: ).
I was hesitating about the same thing, G2 vs Z1. I was almost sold for the G2, it was pretty nice at test (swipe gestures and tap screen are very user-friendly).
But finally I got my Z1 form my carrier, thinking that if it was not good for me I could sell it at a big price and buy a G2 instead. I never went this way. Testing a Z1 and owning a Z1 are 2 different worlds, this phone has just blown my mind.
Also had an accident with Coca and my phone held out for 30 minutes without any problem, I just washed it under a shower, cleaned it with my shirt. Way to go!
And I'm a music addict. Just check the two topics I've opened lately. All about sound. The Z1 is by far the best out there with Qualcomm DAC, implementation is perfect. Zero noise, zero distortion, power, lively music, responsive EQ, it is worth the experience.
I will definitely not trade my Z1 for a LG G2. Though the last one is an amazing phone and I recommend it, if you have money to chose either the Z1 or the G2, Z1 is the way to go. I don't know the Z2. If it does eveythign the same way or better than the Z1, it's a WIN-WIN situation.
Ah, I run stock ROM, haven't looked after root yet, nor bootloader stuff etc.
Hello my dear XDA people. I am sorry if this thread is a little bit odd or something like that but i have a few questions for the owners of a G Flex. I just purchased online on my carrier a G Flex and i should receive it in 2 days. The questions are these:
1. When i bought an HTC One X there was a problem with some displays, some of them were showing odd colours or bars, altought i didn't had any problems with mine. Are there any problems regarding the screen of the G Flex that i should be aware of and check them if i have a problem with it?
2. As far as i understood and saw on some youtube videos the phone is pretty resistent when it comes to bend it or stuff like that, but i am an active person and i have a big flaw in my character that i put my phone in my back pocket, can i be sure that it will resist if i sit on it in my car or in the plane?
3. Most of the people are praising it for the battery life which they say it's amazing, on my phones i always have the mobile network on and most of my phones have to be charged before noon. I usualy use the mail apps, some teamviewer and when i am really bored i check my facebook or instagram, ow and i use the Word app verry much because i have to write papers all the time. Will my battery in the conditions mentioned above rezist at least 1 day?
4. On my iphone 5 i had really big problems with the signal when i bought it, i could't use it for like...a month or so until Apple released some updates for it. Does the G Flex have any signal problems? This is one of my main concerns.
Thank you verry much and i am so sorry for this long post, i just want to know what can i expect when i receive this phone and if i have to stay with a backup phone with me, that is all. Thank you verry much again and have a nice day.
1 The display is good.
Only if you dim the brightness under 75% you can see some granulosity(set the display on "Vivid" ) .
2 The Flex, due to its shape and declared resistance, should resist in the rear pocket. LG says it should tolerate a 40kg weight.
3 Battery life is very good, and for the use described should last until evening without recharging it. Just let the brightness on 95%,not 100%.
4 The signal is not the best ever seen. When you are in an area with good reception, no problems. When you have poor reception, the phone is lazy when switching from a cell to another. It is not the best thing of this device.

Ok,so this phone seems a good choice so far, thank you for the tips.
1. Some screens are grainy so look for that.
2. Don't worry about that.
3. Battery life is the least you have to worry about on this phone! It's fantastic. About as good as it gets.
4. I don't have signal problems. As good as any Android I've had.
I have very good reception, best i ever had.
I always leave the screen brightness on 0%, screen is still very good readable and battery even last longer.
Best phone ever owned, still love it.
