Is it possible change list of calls to grouped numbers?
At now list show like this:
NumberAAA
NumberBBB
NumberAAA
NumberBBB
NumberCCC
How change it to like this:
NumberAAA (2)
NumberBBB (2)
NumberCCC (1)
And then, when we enter in line we get the extended info:
NumberAAA

Hi
I have problem with Topaz. When I save in contact - mobile No with country code (egz. +44) and try to call from other phone my Topaz don’t recognize number and is showing as a number not contact which was saved.
If I save in contact mobile No as 0xxxxxxxx without country code everything works ok it will show. What is wrong? Is there any setup or patch or anything what I can do with that? I’m travelling quite often so I store numbers with country code.
(Sorry for English)
I do not have this problem, but afaik there is an option on how many digits the number is recognized.
Set your caller ID to identify according to greater or lesser number of digits.
Otherwise, it may be that you have duplicate entries. This would also affect Caller ID.
where is the setting to change the number of digits - I appear to only have options for all contacts, no or address book ...........but no digit mask
I'm having the same issue.....
I've tried to manually add a number. With/without all/some prefixes.
Using + and 00.
I've checked to duplicates.
I've emptied by phonebook and SIM.
I got someone to call me. Saved their number from the call.
I've tried, say, +353868033333 and +3530868033333 and 0868033333 and 868033333 and replaced the + with a Zero.
I've set my Caller ID from 12 down to 2 and still nothing.
I do note something interesting.
I had ONE phone number work so far.
And I've yet to discover why.
I've placed a call with HTC and they are aware of the issue for only a week so far it seems but I think this has been an issue even from previous models.
Anyone got any others ideas? I'm going to try the hard reset and allowing it to import one number from the SIM card. And then I'll sync my full phonebook and see. But I'm holding off a few days to see if HTC will wake up and smell the coffee.
starfish_001!!!
starfish_001,
You need to get a Regedit tool, such as "PHM Regedit" and go to....
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ ControlPanel \ Phone \
There is a key in there called "CallIDMatch".
You will have to change the range from about 12 down to 2 depending on your phone numbers etc. A soft reset is needed after each change to test.
BUT this has not solved my problem yet. It has for some it seems.

Excellent - I will give this a go
Ummm... there might be some trouble...
Let me try to help...
Normal number should consist of:
+ (international prefix)
xxx (country code)
xxx (area code/provider prefix)
xxx xxxx (phone number)
So let's use some reverse engineering:
- are ALL phone numbers in your country lenght 7 digits?
- is area code always 3 digits?
- how long is your country code?
For example, post #5:
"+353868033333 and +3530868033333 and 0868033333 and 868033333"
phone number: 8033333
area code: 086
country code: 353
Catch 22: you HAVE TO ommit 0 from area code, so it becomes 86 and correct form becomes first one, +353 86 8033333.
So recognition lenght should be: 7 + 2 + 3 = 12. Right? Not always.
Normally, math goes like this: (shortest possible phone number lenght in your country) + (shortest possible area code lenght without zero) + (country code)
In my country, it looks like this: 6 + 1 + 3 = 10
Example: +385 1 999999
But, there could be: +385 51 999999
and: +385 91 999999
If you go from lenght 2 up, you notice that till lenght 8 those 3 numbers are same for caller ID!
Now, try to play that with you country's number format... not to mention USA, where country code is 1!
Sorry if all of this was already obvious...
Bodisson,
Thanks for that expansion of the issue.
I'm going to give it another go.
Unfortunately the phone numbers here in Ireland can be in a range of:
+363 86 8033333 to +353 1 55555 so perhaps the Irish will be stuck with a HTC phone that will only recognise a handful of phone numbers.
I tried the CallerID with 12 and lower already. I might have to go right back to the basics on this one and start with one phone number.
I've read in other threads that people had to do a hard reset, have some numbers on their sim and then allow the wizard to copy those numbers across. You can then add the full set of numbers.
Thanks for your calculations. I'll give it one more shot before I do a hard reset. If only HTC would roll out WM6.5 so I can try that first. I'm a little put off by the manual upgrades.

Geoff
I am having this problem after installing a Translation software in my device, where it automatically installed other languages.... i tried un installing it, but the problem persist, i have to hard rest i think !!
Well I have been searching around now for instructions on how to use this app.
Specifically the "Make Your own" Option on the app.
With all these shortcuts im about to show you Leave Type section blank.
here is what I found.
The app uses something called URI (Uniform Resource Identifier).
These are used to Choose what you want to do in the specific shortcut.
i.e Make the short cut a Direct Call. the URI I believe is this:
Code:
Action: android.intent.action.DIAL <--- URI
Data: content://contacts/people/#
# meaning the number defined to the specific contact. You can also use their Phone number as well if it gets too complicated.
What you typed into the Data portion is the what the URI is going to go into to make the shortcut work. In this case, It dials the specific number typed in where the # sign is.
To make a Direct Song shortcut you would have to do this:
Code:
Action: android.intent.action.PICK <--- This will choose and play the song you choose in the Data sections.
Data: content://media/external/audio/media/# <-- This specifies what song you want to be played.
# the same applies as with the direct call except that it can only be one number (i.e 1 for your first song, 2 for the second song, 3 for the third, etc etc)
Im not sure if combining numbers would work in this case but I doubt it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
If anyone finds anymore information, links, or w.e on it or more shortcuts that you guys have made, please post them and I will add them onto Here.
More Information/Links:

If link is broken for you search this in google:
developer android referen Intent
and choose the very first option.
I just notice that SGS fail at sorting image.
Example, I have lots of image about 150 of them.
When i view them in "My Files"
Its arrange like this . filename01.jpg to filename150.jpg.
After filename10.jpg should be filename11.jpg instead of giving me filename100.jpg. So on and so forth (filename11.jpg ~ filename110.jpg)
Its seem to be they are sorting the first 2 digit .
No matter now i arrange my file as in "number with brackets example(10), or zero then digit example,"010""
Any idea how to fix that or any other better way as in rename my files?
So are you saying it goes like this?
filename01.jpg
...
filename09.jpg
filename10.jpg
filename100.jpg <- here you expect filename11.jpg
filename101.jpg <- here you expect filename12.jpg
If so, I would say your problem is that you have two-digit numbers for some of your filenames and three-digit numbers for others - the sort algorithm lists all those that start with filename0, then all those that start with filename1, and so on.
So. Any other way to sort them so they won't sort this way ?
I rearrange my file again using Filename1.jpg - Filename150.jpg
In SGS it sorted like this
Filename1.jpg
Filename10.jpg
Filename100.jpg.
Argh! this stuff is so irritate ~
It should be fine if you're able to rename them all to use the same number of digits, as in:
filename001.jpg
filename002.jpg
...
filename010.jpg
filename011.jpg
...
filename099.jpg
filename100.jpg
...
etc.
Ohh okay thanks !
Hi there,
I'm using the "Llama" App to manage all my configurations. I can connect my phone via WiFi to my Router and use my Landline number with it. I can call other Landline numbers in 75 countries using this feature.
I configured a VPN connection to my Home-router. Everything works fine, but...
All I may know so far is, that I can use Android-Intent to start my VPN. Correct??
The "Llama" i can run an Intent, but I don't know how to configurate it propably.
//
It says:
- "Intent send mode:" with following options: Start activity / Start service / Broadcast
- package name
- class name
- Action
- Categories (comma/pipe seperated)
- Data
- Data Type
- Extra -> Add new 'extra' row [Description: Set the 'key' to blank to remove that row. Surround variable names with two hashes to expand them in string extra (e.g. ##variablename##)]
When adding an extra row:
- >Key - boolean / byte / short / int / long / float / double / string - value
//
Is this possible?
If needed... It's a IPSec-VPN with Xauth-Authentification.
Thanks very much for any help! :fingers-crossed:
cheers, maxbenn
the only thing i know you can reach without root ist the menu where to choose wich vpnconnection you want to start with:
Code:
Intent-send-mode: Start activity
Action: android.net.vpn.settings
With root you have to make a shortcut to the vpnconnection with an additional app and start the intent of the additional app.
Thx, it works!
The non root version is enough for me.
Cheers,
Max.
Hello,
I am new to android studio and java in general. I was wondering If there is an easy way to send data from one activity to multiple activities.
On my first activity the user will enter some text. I want this text to be displayed on the second activity as well as on a summary page(my 6th activity).
I have figured out how to have the text go from activity 1 to the second activity. But I cannot figure out how to make it show up on the summary page as well. Anyone have any advise?
Thanks in advance!

You should use some permanent storage. In Android it's a lot ways to save the data: simple file, preferences, database, content providers and others.
I think for you case can be appropriate use the preferences. You need to write the preferences in one activity and read in another. Please see the following code example in Kotlin for details.
In order to write the preferences:
Code:
with(getSharedPreferences(PREFERENCE_NAME, Context.MODE_PRIVATE)) {
edit().putString(MY_MSG, "your message text").apply()
}
In order to Read preferences from destination activity:
Code:
with(getSharedPreferences(PREFERENCE_NAME, Context.MODE_PRIVATE)) {
mString = getString(MY_MSG,"");
}
