I was on MOKEE 4.4.2(release) for several months and had a VERY good LTE signal. I decided I wanted a little change so I flashed CM 11. I noticed my LTE signal was very weak. It seemed it was ONLY my LTE signal. Were I would typically have full bars on LTE (5 out of 5) with MOKEE, I would only have 2 to 3 bars out of 4 on LTE with CM 11 sometimes it would go as low as 1. I also verified with speedtest that it DOES impact my speed. After some research I found this is a common issue with certain CM base roms with no solution I could find. My question is for people that have experienced this issue. Which ROMS (prefer kitkat) does not have this issue? I can verify for anyone else curious that I did not have this issue AT ALL with MOKEE 4.4.2(release). I can also verify that I DID HAVE the issue with PROBAM as well. I think if we made a list of all the roms and how the LTE signal was it could be very helpful for people in the future. Thanks!

After weeks of playing around with build.props, APNs, and patches, on custom ROMs and stock, I am still attempting to get faster and more consistent data.
4G and LTE are supposed to be possible, but I can't figure it out.
I can get around 5 Mbps down using WCDMA only, but the very next moment in the same spot could be something entirely different.
My mobile data goes out quite often where it is just the outline of a triangle. I have never seen any other letters besides an E and a H.
I am currently on stable CM 10.2.1 installed on a newly created and wiped SS Slot 1, and have been for about a week and a half.
I used default network = 0 in build.prop this time around.
I finally managed to get my phone to recognize my SIM card while using the following configuration:
default network in Phone Testing = LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) and
preferred network mode in Mobile Network Settings = Global (CDMA/EVDO/LTE/GSM/WCDMA).
It acted really strange at first but the settings stayed even after a handful of reboots.
I am using Straight Talk's current APN settings (tfdata).
My dBm is constantly going from about -90 something to -108 and my asu ranges from around 3 to 14.
Before I just now rebooted, and every so often, it shows 2147483647 dBm and 255 asu; I have only just noticed this in the past few days, however. It is now back to -101 dBm and 6 asu after restarting.
I have attached screenshots of it doing that and a shot of "normalcy", as well as my last few speed tests.
Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong?
Should I try default network = 10 again in build.prop?
Or could anyone provide a copy of a build.prop working on all possible network modes (with the ability to edit APNs)?
Thanks in advance. I will take any and all advice or opinions.
I am so over trying to figure this out! When I really need my mobile data, it doesn't work!
I have attached a couple of graphs of my signal highs/lows etc. These results are from the Real Signal app.
I don't really know what they mean, but I am hoping they might shed some light on my issue and I'll get an answer from someone.

How are you getting it to get edge data? On mine I either have HSPA or nothing. Is there a way to make it default automatically to edge when the HSPA signal gets weak. I tried using liquid smooth 4.2.2 and changed it to 2g only and never could get signal. Change it to auto and get HSPA again

Not really sure how, and when it is on Edge, data hardly works anyway, so I probably can't help you there.
But I do have default network = 10. Only other thing I changed was telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=0 to get the APN menu under mobile networks.
However, at the moment (and the majority of moments), with Wi-fi off, I have no data, -109 dBm, 5 asu, GPRS service is disconnected, and my phone number is "unknown", so I am definitely not in the position for giving suggestions.
Am going to try CM 11 again today, but I was hoping for some answers before doing anything other than installing..
I will ask more specific questions in the hopes that someone, anyone, can provide some sort of idea for at least 1 of them..
Is it even possible for the Bionic to have consistent, non-frustrating access to 2G, 3G, 4G, and LTE when unlocked for the AT&T or T-Mobile networks using Straight Talk?
Is there a way to enable the APN menu without changing the build.prop?
Does anyone have a targa build.prop (entire thing or line changes) of phone that has reliable data, etc. working on 2G, 3G, 4G, and LTE?
Could it be an issue with the SIM card itself?
Am I even approaching this from the right angle?
Should I just give up and get a new phone?
Thanks in advance.
Patch Idea
I am a novice at best and that may be a stretch.
BUT. Both of my Bionics are running on Straight Talk AT&T 4G sim cards.
One is a hardware REV-B the other is hardware REV-C.
The REV-C is rooted and running on the Jelly Bean stock rom.
The REV-B is rooted and running on a MoKee MK4.4 KitKat Release that I downloaded
from their site and opened in "Safestrap".
I do not think that I have achieved 4G yet however,
I do have fairly stable signal and data since
I installed a CDMA to GSM patch that I found searching these forums.
It includes Straight Talk and AT&T APN!
I am not aloud to post links yet. But if you search for these things here you will probably find them fairly quickly.
I would love to know if you can achieve 4G!
Good Luck!

I've been a ProjectFi user for a few months now, and I love it. But I have one odd issue. I've updated to a Marshmallow ROM and installed the latest Radio as needed to properly activate Fi, and I get great signal of I'm in an area with LTE, but as soon as I'm in an area with no LTE I get no signal at all. No voice or data service, the phone just flat out says no service. Where on Lollipop, I had no problem picking up a 3G or 2G connection so I could at least make a phone call or send a text.
If I flash an older Lollipop Radio, my signal is restored, and I'll pickup 3G and 2G in areas where that's all there is (I'm in a very rural section of upstate NY).
I've tried flashing a couple of different Marshmallow based radios and sometimes one will work for a little bit, but then cut back to no service if there is no LTE.
Can someone shed some light on this issue? Why do the newer radios seem to pick up less coverage than the older ones?
I do get a better LTE signal with the newer radios, but it's not worth losing the rest of my coverage.

Have you tried a few dialer codes to see if they make a difference yet?
Re-enable automatic carrier switching: *#*#342886#*#*

I'm currently running a stock rooted kitkat note 3 as my daily driver for working at home. Recently I've noticed missing calls, calls not going through, and also text messages not going through despite having plenty of signal both on wifi and on cell. The s7 edge I have has none of these problems in the same place. Turning off wifi on my note magically fixes the issue and suddenly texts have no problem being sent again. Keeping wifi off isn't a viable solution though. I've also noticed that there is some type of handoff that is occuring between 4G LTE and 4G (as indicated by the notification bar). I'm seeing the icon periodically go back and forth between the 4G icon and the 4G lte icon. Signal strength on both looks ok too. I've flashed NC2 and OC1, as well as some other ROMs and the issue persists.
Anyone have some ideas for me to try? (i'm out of them on my end).
I highly recommend this ROM:

If you use a OnePlus device specifically a OnePlus 3/3T then there's a really high probability that you've been effected by the unstable network problems(Data network automatically switching to 2G or 3G when the 4G signal becomes a little weak even though the device is capable of receiving the signal) caused when the signal strength is very poor. Even if you select 4G/3G only in the settings the signal becomes 2G.
If you are getting affected by this issue then you can solve this just by installing an app from the play store.
STEPS-
1. Install the app " JOnePlus Tools".
2. Open it and then click on "More Settings" icon on the top right corner.
3. After that click on phone info.
4. In phone info select drop down menu and choose the option, "LTE only" or " WCDMA only" according to your need.
5. Done.
I've been testing it for a few hours now and and haven't faced the issue.
If you are still not able to understand what to do then watch this video, everything done step by step.
Yeah you can temporarily solve this problem with this guide but,
-If your carrier doesnt support VoLTE, your phone can not drop to HSPA/2G when you select LTE only mode and you can't make and receive calls.
-It is known that LTE signal is weaker then 2/3G signal and old technologies have better coverage in some areas unfortunately. In that areas you may not to receive any signal.
Anyway, thanks for guide.
I absolutely agree with you about problem. Phone drops suddenly 3G from LTE for no reason and reception is weaker than most new phones. But unfortunately we have no good/permanent solucion.
Makes you wonder what 1+ did as this is only an issue with their stock roms and roms based on their roms. AOSP based roms dont suffer from this.

OOS has signal spoofing in it, i.e it shows a good signal even when the reception is very weak.
Hi
This can be done by dialing the code *#*#4636#*#* >phone info. No need to install a separate app for it
Hi
Recently updated my dev to final build of Pie , screen's attached , am getting very poor network coverage in most of the locations and getting decent coverage in some . Same s happening with WiFi also , is it because of our specs are outdated comparing with others or is it me having modem or firmware with poor features .
Sim 1 Airtel with Volte
Sim 2 BSNL
No, it's just a visual calibration issue/difference between the ROMs. There's actually no difference in physical signal strength of you look under the hood.
