I thought I got lucky and got a N7 without any problems but it looks like my micro USB port is defective! The plug only works if I lightly push it down, the contacts inside aren't connecting properly. I've attached a picture showing how I had to rig it to get it to charge.
Interesting. Mine has been on charge for 5 hours and it still won't switch on or give any charging notifications. I've already requested a refund from google, but if this works I'll at least be able to spend the £15 play credit on books!
when come out of the package, there is a clear tape/wrap around the plug, did you remove that? I didn't bother to remove mine and I find the usb plug to be pretty tight.. tighter than all other devices I've owned..
Odd, if anything my USB port/cable are tighter than any other device I own.

You're keeping it, in this state? RMA is your friend
This sucks! I need to be able to use this device daily for work. It's replaced an older one I've gotten rid of. Will Google send a new one first?
try replace a cable first?? Use one from your phone and see how's the fitment first. Could be just the cable.
I have noticed that the one that shipped works fine, but I have another one with a longer cord (so it can sit on my desk and charge it's a long way to the floor) and that one slips out unless it's sitting on the desk I can't use it or the plug will fall out.
Mine seems to be the tightest fit of any device yet but I have left the plastic on the tip.
If you have to rig it like that it more then likely has a bad solder joint meaning it the charging port needs to be re-soldered back down to the phone, or the port may need to be replaced because one or more of the legs has broken off of the back of the port, or one or more of the pins inside the front of the port is bent out of place.

I have the same problem...though mine isn't as extreme as yours. Mine is just loose. Thankfully it connects. But it looks like is bending like crazy. I have to wait for gamestop to get more n7 till I can exchange it. Asus really screwed the pooch on this device. So many defects.

I've tried 2 other micro usb cables, the original works best. The original is actually extended a bit longer than any other micro usb I've seen.

Yes, ask for an Advanced RMA. Although, to get one you need to give them some payment information. They send you another device and put a hold on your credit card until they receive the other device.

I bought mine from GameStop. Will Google still ship me a new one? There has to be a factory warranty on it, right?

My USB port has become loose after a week of general use and charging. Going to contact Google for repair / replacement I think. Not the first device I have had this problem on - although I doubt like my Alienware they will send an engineer out to fix it on site (now that is service).
Ive got this problem now too. GOing to return it tonight and hopefully get a new one.
Had to return mine also
I had to return my micro USB plug also ,,, but Nexus sent another
in about a week ... called them for info on how ,,, and they
sent info to email ..
I understand completely, I wish someone would tell me a simpler method than resoldering the port. I'm nowhere inclined to do this myself being as I have no clue how to even begin how to solder anything. I have to use 2 rubber bands, an 8 inch strip of clear duct tape, a bottle of hair gel to add weight, and my microwave to hold it all in place.. =| HELP??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my 3rd N7. I just got it about 8 hours ago from gamestop. I thought when I started my new replacement up I finally got a defective free device!!! Started playing major mayhem and boy did I figure out quick this replacement was the worst. It would read my finger placement but I would either have to hold it there or swipe. Oh and the keyboard was almost impossible to use. Even moving widgets and apps on home screen was a chore due to it out being able to hold on to my placement. I know I'm not the only one having this issue. You guys think an update would fix this or do I have another deffective device?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Not sure, but if it is defective again, I would return it and buy it somewhere else.
Can you try it out with headphones plugged in or while touching the headphone jack? This might be a grounding issue.

I just returned. I usually hate GameStop but they are bring really cool about the n7. They are exchanging it without question. One time they didn't even turn it on lol! But I got my replacement today and so far so good. Hope nothing is wrong with it *knock on wood*

Third time will be the charm with me, I think. I'll be hopefully getting my third one early next week while I still have time to compare to my first unit. if the third one has issues, then I'll be putting the N7 on the back burner until people are reporting that these common issues are resolved. It's just taking TOO much time and energy to mess with this whole thing.
Gamestop just replacing them right there on the spot?
I made a video of the issue I'm experiencing along with how it behaves when I have the headphones plugged in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dG3-vjFYh0Q&feature=youtube_gdata_player

No, you didn't stutter, but you also didn't make much sense. I'd say a person with the time and inclination has no reason not to try to get a defect-free device. There's every reason to believe that at some point the initial manufacturing issues will be worked out, and defect-free Nexus 7's will become available. That should happen sooner rather than later, and so long as Google is willing to keep sending replacements, there's no reason why someone shouldn't keep trying (do note that I, personally, do not have the time or inclination, so I'm stopping at 3).
So, when I say "why," I'm asking: what's your reasoning? Certainly you don't REALLY mean that "God or some other higher power" is actually trying to say something.
Yes GameStop just returned it no questions asked. The only problem was finding the tablets. Only one GameStop in my city had a replacement. This one is perfect EXCEPT the sound. Its cracky and pops. But the m going to hold onto this one because everything else is flawless. Including the lifted screen. I rarely use the internal speaker anyway. It works fine of I dont pump it up a lot. Anyway yes GameStop was badass for once. They didn't even turn it on lol. I could have gutted the CPU.

Kinda makes me wonder if Google, Asus, or retailers are just recycling some of the returns to someone else, hoping they will be fine with whatever defects the person returning couldn't live with. Anyone know if there are any rules at the retail level that prevent this from happening?

Now almost everytime I touch my phone while its plugged in my car it'll stop playing or go staticy as well. Long story short, my jack is messed up and iknow its not the headphones/aux cord. Was wondering if you guys think I should get warranty replacement? Or should I get a brand new device? I do have an upgrade. Im not too thrilled about the phones that are out now not gonna lie. But what would you do in my situation? Thanks

My headphone-jack also got messed up. I repaired this easily myself, it had just the problems you're describing.
I took a Q-tip and cut it to the right size to fit in the headphone-jack WITHOUT it loosing all of the cotton in there.
Then i messed around with it until it came out with a huge piece of dust.
I've had to do this twice to get my jack working.
One alternative would be to take some tweesers and pick the dust out with it.
And no, i wasn't able to see any dust in my 3.5mm jack. Try it, it's for free and it worked for me.
I had a similar issue where my headphone jack just died completely. Tried to clean it out but it still wouldn't work. Finally called and had a replacement phone sent to me since I'm in the same boat as you and waiting for a newer qwerty phone to come out and didn't want to re-sign with a D4 for 2 years seeing as that phone is getting a bit old itself.
Unfortunately, almost 2 months in and the headphone jack died again. I'll have to try calling for ANOTHER replacement. Hopefully they don't send you one that dies as fast as mine. I know that occasionally if you have the same problems over and over with a particular phone they might send you a different one with your same contract terms. Just make sure you stay nice and friendly with the rep Good luck and let us know how it works out.

While I am still waiting for my new LG G2 (D802) to arrive in the mail, I went ahead and started looking for accessories online. During my search I came across this extended battery case, a Power Jacket 3200mAh:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/power-jacket-3200mah-for-lg-g2-black-p42963.htm
https://shop.brando.com/Power-Jacket-for-LG-G2-3200mAh_p10405c1599d3.html
Has anyone tried this product or has any experience with products from this company?
Also it is very disappointing to me that this battery case covers the volume and power buttons when it is attached to the phone.
Why would you need it? Some people are getting 60 hours on battery with 6 hours of screen-on time.
I usually use my mobile devices heavily, especially during my trips abroad and I always find myself either using an external battery (which I find inconvenient to carry around) or looking for power plugs to plug in my device. The 3000mAh was one of the main reasons I bought this phone vs the Nexus 5. So a battery case could be very useful to me. But again this is just my personal opinion and it reflects my usage of my own mobile devices.
Did u realize that casing close both power button and volume button.
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
True, but then again there are controls for both the volume and turning the screen on and off without the need for buttons...
You can also grab the same model off of ebay.... only place i had seen this before this thread... Ordered one the other day so hopefully not long before it turns up.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121231899528?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Yeh the hiding of the buttons is annoying but I can work with that as im also loosing the quickview functionality from the case I already have which is more of a nice to have.....
Started playing some games which is murdering the battery pretty quick so will be good to see how much more i get out of the battery.
Yes I am aware of that, and I stated that in my initial comment:
" Also it is very disappointing to me that this battery case covers the volume and power buttons when it is attached to the phone. "
@ death_entry --> Please share your experiences using the case once you receive it
This thing looks great and I wouldn't mind the power/volume buttons being covered, but it looks like the speaker and bottom mic would covered, meaning it would only viable while using headphones.

Will do, although will be a week and a bit as it's shipping from HK... tbh as long as the batteries don't explode\warp I'm sure it will be ok.... when you think that Apple can charge £90 for a iPhone battery case, this is really a bargain...
I do really like the kickstand, the only time when you really need to use it is when you're likely going to be killing the battery.... Shame they don't have the Qi stuff built into the case... that would really be the ultimate as you wouldn't have the issue with the usb port being blocked....

It's unfortunate it doesn't offer more support and protection to the phone. It looks like the only thing holding the phone in is the USB connector. I wouldn't feel comfortable using it outdoors.
Also, I never believe any capacity claim that isn't from a reputable vendor. I would guess this case will give you maybe 50-60% more life on your G2. Still, I can see its usefulness for certain niche uses.
It seems that Mugen is preparing a 2800mAh Battery Case for all the LG G2 variants and is supposed to be shipping on January 31st:
http://mugen.co/lg/t-mobile-lg-g2-d801-lg-g2-d802.html
This is a more reputable company, so I hope the case does not cover the speaker and/or any mics and buttons.
I got from Brando, http://shop.brando.com/Power-Jacket-for-LG-G2-3200mAh_p10405c1599d3.html
It is working fine for my G2, shipping time is around 7 days, pretty good.
I do agree with death_entry, the kickstand is great for watching video!

It's amazing, I must thinking about this
I noticed pretty much right away that it is not a very pleasant experience plugging the device in, the cable doesn't fit super well and seems to take too much force, that mixed with the tear down and seeing that the port is on the same board as everything else worries me...
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+6+Teardown/32877
Because of that I am pretty sure I will be returning this phone tomorrow and picking up something else I can't have a non fixable device that already seems destined to break.
Although mine micro usb seems okay for now i find this interesting. Do you guys think that the usb is unfixable without replacing the board? I had usb issues with my old HTC Desire HD and nexus 4. It was really annoying and I don't want to experience this again.
If you're worried, you could get a Qi charger to avoid using the USB port every time you charge it. The only time I ever had a problem with the USB port was with the Diztronic case since it interferes with the plug on the USB cable. It would cause it to easily come unplugged. With my supcase there's no problem at all.
The cable that came with the phone is tight and has weird fit for me. Other cables have been fine. I use a Samsung cable with my turbocharger now otherwise my qi charger.
with wireless charging and wireless file transfers using a file Explorer app, I've not plugged the device up yet.
The cable and USB port on mine are fine. I'm used to the hard to plug in G3 so this is extremely easy in comparison. I've had my Nexus 6 since it was delivered on 11/17 and it was made on 10/21 so I would give yours a chance.
The port on my N4 got broken too after about 18 months. Because it was a separate board it was easy to replace. Maybe you can desolder it on the N6, but you need some skills for it. Or a good friend

That's the same way that ALL microusb ports are.
Microusb is literally, the WORST plug configuration ever supplied. They are extremely fragile.
The good news is, that you don't need the microusb port for *anything*.
Its got wifi for transferring data.
It has a wireless charging coil.
