So I've tried installing this half a dozen times, I did a full wipe I'm using the i9305 and installing this using both kernel options for the knox based bootloader, after it completes installation it says complete, reboot the phone and I end up stuck at the Samsung Galaxy s3 black screen and it never boots into the os.
I noticed while installing this it installs some modem not sure what one it is but I thought perhaps that was the issue, to installed went straight into download mode and flashed a optus modem i've been using for my phone rebooted but still same issue.
Would appreciate some help with this, I've tried searching the thread for similar issues no such luck.
Thanks

Thanks but it's not that, I wasn't even aware of having to use the newer one for the recovery till recently and have been using the one for the old recovery even tho I have the new one... either way, I tried installing both the new and old recovery's same results.

i see, well your 2 posts away from being able to post in development thread, you will get better help in rom thread try a full wipe anyway and install the rom with default aroma settings, maybe the problem lies in some setting you change in aroma installer..

True, that could be it, except i thought of that myself and just hit next next next to the end and hit install to see if it would help matters it didn't. Yeah I tried posting there to begin with, but even if your an advanced person you have to post here first lol fun times
I did think maybe there's a newer version of philz recovery out and mine just buggers it up some how it offers to install 6.41.6 not sure what my version is.. it crossed my mind tho but I wouldn't presume that's the most likely of causes.

hmm.. well philz 6.41.6 is the latest one a.t.m and roms these days need up to date recovery so you can give it a shot if you are not on philz yet. here is the latest one http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...covery-i9305-cwm-philz-twrp-versions-t2694249
flash it with odin then try again, hopefully this will fix your problem

I tried to install a custom rom on my Galaxy s plus and I figured i'd need cwm, so I got the latest, installed it through the default recovery.
And now it keeps booting into the recovery and I can't get the stock back.
So I still tried to install a custom rom, though it keeps booting into cwm.
Can anyone give me a hand with this? I will need my phone today, so I would really appreciate any help I can get.
I own a One X, though it is at the repairs and now I messed up my only usable phone

I will try to explain what happened in as much detail as possible, but if this is not descriptive enough feel free to ask for more information.
As the title suggests, I have soft-bricked my phone. I can not figure out what the hell is the problem here.
I have flashed a custom rom to my device, the latest viper rom to be exact. I am assuming you know what a boot loop is, but with this it is not a boot loop. It is rather a reboot loop (?). Instead of staying on the bootup, it will load into android. It will allow me to interact with settings and things for say 1-2 minutes, then it will reboot. Some times before it crashes it will show an error message of "system has stopped responding." Other times it will just *FLASH* go straight off without warning. I have tried to flash other roms, to no avail. I have tried to clear the cache, dalvic cache, entire system, all to no avail. I have zero idea of what can be causing this, and no thread or video or anything can seem to tell me.
So please. I'm coming to you as a man who has tried everything he could find for the past 3 days. I am hoping that this is a fix that I just did not see, and I am being an idiot. Never the less, please help me in fixing this problem.

Could be a bad download did you check the MD5 before flashing?
When you wiped pre-install did you wipe cache/dalvik cache/system/data or use superwipe(does the same thing just all in one session)?

I wiped cache/dalvik cache/system/data.
It was not a bad download I believe, because I tried with like 5 different roms.
Check MD5? I have no idea how to check that, so sorry about that.
Thank you so much for at least responding.

Usually not a big deal for roms but it will tell you if the MD5 matches from what was uploaded and what you downloaded
I have gotten some downloads that were a few MB's short
I use WinMD5Free http://www.winmd5.com/?rid=winmd5
Just copy the MD5 given on the file hosting site or the OP into the popup window then navigate to your download

What are the odds that OP downloaded 5 bad ROMs?
Question to Op: did you download it directly onto your phone?
I suggest not doing that. In my experience, they have resulted in bad downloads far too often. This includes ROM manager and goo.im apps.
Did you download the zip onto a PC, then transfer it to your phone via USB?

I sent it to my phone using adb sideload.
I can't even have enough time on Android to download anything.
PS: Not sure if this will help you or not, but when I open the app drawer there is nothing.
There is no pre-loaded widgets, there is no shortcuts.
Just a toolbar, a home launcher with no apps, and the settings.
IIRC sideload only wipes cache and dalvik cache

Like I have stated, yes.
I do it before flashing any rom, and if it doesn't work then I flash again with no success.
Bump ._.
I need to figure this out.
i have exactly the same issue with you. i tried to flash 4.2.2 sense and 4.1.2 sense with no success. currently i am trying to download AOKP ROM to see if that have any difference, but the download speed is poor in my place.

I doubt it man.
Nothing seems to work.
I flashed a new rom, and now I can't even load recovery or get past fastboot.
Not sure what the rom has to do with not being able to run recovery, but whatever.
As was already mentioned, have you tried to RUU back to completely stock so at least you have a baseline to work from? It honestly sounds to me like something physical may have been fried if all the roms you flash after wiping clean give the same result. If you can RUU back to stock, and still have the issue, then you may have the option of having it replaced by Sprint. Do all the roms you flash give the exact same symptoms (including the app drawer issue?)
::EDIT:: In case you aren't sure how to run an RUU, here is a link to a thread walking you through it. CLICK ME!!! ::/EDIT::

RUU doesn't seem to work for me.
I have tried to run like 10 different RUU's and none of them work.
PS: Not all the roms give the exact same issues. The viper rom does what I said. Another rom (can't remember name) did the same thing as the viper rom. ARHD removes my recovery and doesn't even let me attempt to run it. That's all the roms I have tried so far, except RUU. RUU just says incorrect device or something.
EDIT: Just flashed Cyanogen mod rom. It shows all apps, and it does everything. The only problem is that it still reboot loops. Everything works, but the phone reboots itself after 30 seconds.

I've been using TWRP ever since I have rooted mt ONE. Over the last few days its been crashing while trying to install any zips at all.I can do a nandroid restore but nothing else. When I try to install any file it just goes to a black screen and reboots the phone.
Any ideas of what could be causing this and how to repair it also.
Thanks
I've also just replaced TWRP with clockwork mod touch and that is doing the same thing. I am now at a stage where I cannot install anything via the recovery method.
What is my bet options for starting afresh as my phone is unlocked with HTC dev and rooted also.
I'd like to go back to the beginning and start again.
Thanks

This seems to becoming a more and more recurrent event, though I cannot say for what the correct solution is, check these two threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2435499
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2423817
one of them had to fix a corrupt partition, the other just reflashed and wiped again and again, and it worked.
If something works out for you do share!!
Thanks for that,I'll redownload my favourite Rom and try again without trying to update the Kernel, everything was fine as I remember before I tried the kernel update.
I'll let you know how I get on in a while.

Though the reasons are still unclear (at least to me ), it seems that flashing a custom kernel while still in recovery immediately after the ROM does work. Of course, make sure you're flashing a compatible kernel to the ROM; the version numbers of the custom kernels do not correspond to the ROM versions, and I've seen some that flashed an incompatible kernel, just because the version numbers looked similar.
Good luck & keep us posted
PS: If you do solve it, please update the main thread title to include [SOLVED]. thanks
Thanks for the two links, after reading them and doing a fresh install off my rom. Wiping cache, delvick and data I seem to be able to install zips again from recovery without the black screen and reboots.
Yep, so far all the zips that failed earlier are now installing.
A BIG THANK YOU :good::good:

Hi friends
I am currently running my HTC ONE with a Venom Rom and been told I need TWRP to update to v4.1
Cannnot get TWRP to go over CWM :/
I have removed ROM Manager but still boots into CWM
I have installed GooManager and it asks if I want to install the open recovery script, does the 10 second count down, and then goes back to main screen, does not do anything else - I have removed it and reinstalled, still same issue
If I use Goo to boot in to Recovery it just freezes on the YES/NO screen and then says script is taking too long wait or cancel :/ Left it for ages to no avail
When I looked in ROM Manager it did state Twrp was the recovery but stil booted in to CWM - now I have removed ROM Manager as I read on here that might be the issue :/
I have also just checked for CWM APP, and that is NOT installed
Can anyone help or am I going to have to flash a STOCK ROM then go back to Venom?
Cheers guys
So basically, you want to install TWRP recovery replacing your current CWM recovery right? but can't make it happen since everytime you do, you ended up still having CWM?
Try flashing this file using CWM.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/716uhr84madvvjl/TWRP_2.6.3.4_m7.zip
Just flash the recovery through fastboot

@skpManiac (OP), stop using toolkits, goos, youtubes, etc. if you want to flash low-level stuff, then do it the "hard way"
1- download the file
2- VERIFY MD5
3- (ironically) use 3 (as in three) command lines:
fastboot flash recovery <name of recovery>.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader

No problem that I helped you.. Hey, hit thanks!
It seems that I may have flashed one to many times or something else is playing up. Anywho, I came to check my phone this morning and everything was working fine. Checked the battery status and I thought it was time for a top-up . I decide to do it via USB via my computer and that's when things started to go south. I came back to check my phone and...nothing. I done a hard restart and at first everything seemed fine only to get a continuous boot-loop. I tried to enter TWRP and it hangs on the "teamwin" logo. Then I decided to flash stock via Odin and I still get the same boot-loop. I can still access downloader but that's it.
For reference the version of TWRP I was running was 2.8.6.1 (flashed back to 2.8 Nova version) and the ROM I was running was the latest version of Ressurection Remix by Maclaw.
So, I'm open to any suggestions. Any help would be much appreciated and paid forward.
Thanks for hearing me out.
So going by the lack of feedback I'm basically screwed?
Oh for ****s sake come on! I've had this up for 3 days on this site full of so called enthusiasts and "professionals" and not one response? I'm sorely disappointed.
So there is honestly no one that can help me with this?
Pathetic...
Come on there must be someone that can help me with this, otherwise I'll have to risk buying a broken one for parts.
Haven't done any custom stuff in a while but the boot loop sounds familiar, have you wiped the dalvik cache in the advanced menu also have you tried a factory reset?
---------- Post added at 12:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:30 PM ----------
Use the Volume keys in order to navigate through the recovery menu.
Select “advanced” and choose “wipe dalvik cache”.
Return to main menu.
Then select “wipe data factory reset”.
Return and this time choose “wipe cache partition”.
Return and select “reboot system now”.
Your handset should start in Android OS now.

Thanks for the feedback but as I have already stated I can't access any recovery only Odin, and desktop Odin won't allow me to re-partition only write. Still, whether it be stock or a custom ROM it is the same result: bootloop and recovery freezes on splash screen.
So any other takers? Yes? No?
Why even have a "help & troubleshooting" section if, well, I don't know, no one helps!!!
Dude you're puerile attitude is baffling, I understand you desperately want help, but do you really think you'll get it if you keep throwing toys out of your pram?
The problem you've described suggests that you're phone is 'fixable' however, it may take a few different methods to restore it. Ok, so you cannot access recovery mode, therefore you're unable to clear your phone like TheMadTurnip suggested, and you're also unable to access any backup you might have made. The downloader works so I can only recommend you try to investigate what's going wrong when you flash via Odin, does the flash show as pass or fail? Have you tried flashing using a different cable or computer, heck have you even tried using another version of Odin? Is Kies installed on your computer, if so then remove it. Have you flashed using a PIT file as well as the stock firmware? Elaborate on your situation so tailored advice can be given to you.
Kind Regards,
Pinda

Dude you're puerile attitude is baffling, I understand you desperately want help, but do you really think you'll get it if you keep throwing toys out of your pram?

In light of how active this section still is I think a week is more than enough time to expect a response, I was even quite polite in my OP. Even a simple "no I can't help but maybe try this" would have sufficed. But I'll take it under advisement...

It shows a pass, won't allow me to re-partition though.

I have tried flashing using the original cable the phone came with; so I have tried 2. I even tried other USB ports. And yes I have tried another version of Odin.
Flashing doesn't seem to be a problem at the moment, just everything else.

It is installed along with the Samsung USB driver. Having it installed hasn't caused a problem. I'll uninstall it if you think that will help.

A pit file? And yes, as I have already mentioned I have installed the stock firmware.

As it stands it's about ruling things out to pinpoint what's going wrong, I'm no expert, merely a trial and error kind of guy. Anyway, yes, I would suggest uninstalling Kies and try the flash again, although if Odin is flashing successfully then this might not be the issue, but it's worth a shot. When I resolved my bootloop, using a PIT file was one of the things I did, so perhaps that's something you might want to look into. Also, make sure your firmware downloads are clean, basically make sure they download smoothly and aren't disturbed by a network disconnection etc. Could you post links to where you downloaded your stock firmware?

I got my firmware from sammobile.com, right down to my network provider. I've flashed it before and never had any problems. I'm just trying to figure out why my phone self-bricked. I was on latest "Resurrection Remix" when it happened.
Where can I find this "PIT" file and how do I use it? I notice an option in Odin so I can probably figure that part out. At the moment my knowledge is limited to rooting, flashing custom recoveries and ROMs. Sorry.

Ahh ok, yes my knowledge is also limited in that respect. I guess it's all about learning and helping each other out, which is where I guess it can be frustrating when there's a lack of 'available' support in these forums. Nevertheless, I must stop droning on, I used a PIT file for my S variant after noticing numerous users mentioning the significance of it when using Odin to flash. Here's an interesting thread to find out more (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=999097). It's a sort of map if you like, which inadvertently tells the software where everything has to go on the handset, that's my noob interpretation of it anyway. I found the relevant PIT file for my variant on a XDA thread, so it might be worth scurrying through archived threads to see if you can find one for your phone, make sure there's legit feedback for it though. You just flash it with the firmware like you normally would.
Remember, I'm no expert, I'm just going by how I fixed my phone over the weekend. I apologise my attempts to help are meager, I'm still relatively new to all this, just like you.

I tried installing stock firmware with the PIT file I found here and still get the same result. I might be screwed.

I think that's the exact file that worked for me
I don't know what else to suggest at the moment, the fact that you cannot get into recovery makes it that much harder.
I'll come back to you if something comes to mind.
EDIT- Have you tried re flashing a custom recovery to overwrite your current one? If you can somehow get into recovery you could trying clearing your phone of cache and installing a ROM zip-folder. Also, have you got another battery you can try in your handset? I cannot help you with the Odin method no because you've pretty much exhausted all the possible solutions that I know of, perhaps screenshot the Odin log and post it on here for more info.
My s3 mini also got same problem.any solution found
