Hi All
I am trying to use a custom ROM for my Moto X. But in the available ROM's i tried the data connection or the phone did not work. My guess was , it might be the wrong version - developer edition.
My first question is, which variant of Moto X is mine? XT 1052? How do I know it?
Then , the next is are there any custom ROM's for my phone?
please note, I have unlocked the boot loader and my phone is not carrier dependent.
The following are some of the details I found from my phone, please let me know, if you need more.
Build # KLA20.16-2.16
SYSTEM VERSION - 161.44.16.ghost_row.Retail.en.EU
Appreciate any response.

Your phone appears to be the European version of the GSM unlocked Moto X.
If you look on the back of your phone, near the bottom, there MAY be printed a model number in very small print...
Since it is a GSM phone, the data connection will not work until you input the proper APN for your carrier.
The stock rom probably has the correct APN already added - and that is why data works on the stock rom, but not the ROM you have flashed.
You will need to get the APN settings for your carrier, and input those settings into your X. Search the forum for details on APNs.
Good Luck

I found my version is XT 1052.
Let me clarify, its not just the data connection, but the phone features, liking making a call or mobile data get disabled, if I try any of the custom ROM's like PACMAN or carbon etc, which are for developer edition (as they have a suffix _dt, my guess).
When I try to make a call, it says, please turn off the Airplane mode, when it is not in Airplane mode.
My question is : are there any custom ROM's available for XT 1052, if not, is there a way, where I can use the other versions ROM and tweak it, like use their KERNEL or something else?
I am not sure, what to do.. Please advise..
Thanks..

I have been extensively reading the threads and cannot seem to find the answer. I apologize for my noviceness. I went to the HTC site and it gave me this ROM to update on my phone. I use the phone in the US:
1. Will this ROM change my US settings?
2. Has anyone up upgraded to this and is the performance better?
Thanks for your help.
surely this rom is better
all your data will be erased.
but when you make the download, you'l have to choose the country and operator and local settings will be fine. The roms are different between different countries
yup i upgraded to that specific rom. The language is still english. Everything on YOUR DEVICE (not internal storage) is gone. The speed of TF3D is much faster as HTC has removed many of the animations. The phone will also get better reception and become quadband thanks to the new radio.
Thank you, do you use T-Mobile Use.

I'm sorry for doing this, I know maybe I post this in a wrong place, but I've just download and installed a ROM to my TP2 Verizon version, then it just stuck at the Bootloader and cannot boot into the ROM. I dont know why, or these ROM are just for GSM version of TP2 and doesn't support my Verizon's one?
I've tried to find the Original ROM of Verizon for my device but cannot find anything, can anyone help me with this?

The ROMs in this subforum are not for your Verizon phone. You need to flash a CDMA (verizon & sprint) ROM, such as this one, a custom one by NRGZ28.
You may need to use the microSD card method (Step 3 here) if the USB-activsync method doesn't work.
thanks dude. I've just re-install the CDMA Rom that you gave me. But I cannot use the phone. When I enter the phone mode, it said that "Initial Programing Required". Please help me. I dont know what to do with this
I remember using *228 on a Sprint phone, worked to "reprogram my phone".

Have you posted this problem in the Rhodium CDMA subforum?
It's okie now, thanks guy. All I have to do is just select the Network option to GSM only from Global mode.
But the problem now is just the keyboard with some wrong symbols, I'm finding a fixing cab for it, if anyone got it, please send me to [email protected].
Once again, thanks you guys for helping me.

Hello,
I'm having a strange problem with my Milestone, i upgraded to the official ROM rentail 2.2.1, now it does not connects to the operator, but can browse the internet through 3G. How is this possible?
What do I already did:
- Master Reset
- I changed the baseband to Brazil (I'm from Brazil) through the OpenRecovery
- Use the tool BaseBandSwitcher
- Try different Roms
- I tested an older chip with the same operator
None of this worked, researched a lot and saw that many people have the same problem, but found no solution.
Please help me!
Thank you.

You can't change a kernel on the Milestone. The bootloader is locked so you can't actually flash a custom kernel. The overclock is because of the 10overclock file in /etc/init.d, which overclocks the phone to 1GHz, and 5 steppings, depending on the load that the phone has.
I would try calling tech support for your carrier and having them make sure you meid number (under the battery) matches the one hooked to your account. also check the number under settings/aboutphone/status on your droid.

1) yes
2) http://www.psouza4.com/droid3/ for rooting, check the roms for XT860 in the dev section. (i'm not very familiar with XT860)
3) I'm not sure for XT860
4) Yes there are ICS roms which are stable and working, but some features don't work like video recording, hdmi, and some bluetooth issues(?)

thank you sir appreciated. i hope somebody will answer question 2 and 3 hopefully
I believe that most XT860 ICS ROMs have a flashable patch which includes a fixed build.prop and libmoto_ril.so to get data functioning.
how to unlock this phone ? what is the way ?

Do you have an XT860, or Droid 3 (XT862), or both?
If it's the XT862, and I'm assuming you've used the SIM card from your carrier, not a US one, then you should check the Network Mode. Do this by going to Menu -> Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Mobile networks -> Network Mode, and make sure it's not set to CDMA.
If it's the XT860, that shouldn't even be an option.

I'm not sure whether they lock out the other carriers in Canada like Verizon does with AT&T/T-Mobile, but if that is the case, you'd probably need a SIM from somewhere else.
Here's what people have to do to get the D3 to work with AT&T and T-Mobile, though I don't know if something similar would work on the XT860.
Good luck.
man im screwed. i bricked razr xt910 so i bought this phone and now i cant even use this either. sigh
i have another concern,
i typed on my droid *#06# and it doesnt show up an imei number
in the back there is a sticker with the imei number but when i input the code or try to look through about phone section of the droid there is no imei number stated
what is that supposed to mean?
All,
Going to be getting my new Developer Edition this week and wondering if I should root and install a ROM on it? I'm on the S3 right now and have been a crack flasher throughout all my Android phones...I have slowed down a bit over the years due to being tired of flashing and troubleshooting etc..
Though I just started checking out the Development section in this forum, just wondering did you guys automatically rooted and install new rom when you got it or still on stock and let it be?
Just want some opinions on the matter. I'm leaning towards leaving it stock for the time being and maybe flashing a new rom later. Does the current Roms add that much enhancements to the phone?
Thanks for all opinion.
Almost every ROM for the One that I've seen has either been a variation of Sense, or a dump off from a Google Edition. I would root your device for the apps that need the permissions ( i.e Titanium backup) but wait for the ROMs, unless you really want to try out Sense.
I'm rooted, but I still choose to use Sense as my daily driver. It has a refreshing UI, and its not all that intrusive compared to earlier versions of it.
Hope this helps!

Thank you soo much. That is a very helpful answer. I will root and keep it stock so I can use the root apps like you suggested until a ROM I see comes along that I like.
Thanks alot!

Ah yes, of course! Is the Dev Edition known for stuck pixels?
One last thing, is the Developer Edition already S-Off or do I need to do that also?
You will need to S-OFF. It only comes unlocked (bootloader). As for stuck pixel, it isn't any more prevalent in the Developer line than others. The HTC LCD supplier has kinda 50/50 in terms of having stuck pixels. At least that's what the xda poll indicates.
Ok, one last thing I promise.....Anything special I need to do in regards to APN's, radios etc...when I set up a new account with At&t? I'm coming from Verizon and porting over my number to At&t. Once I get my phone, I'm just gonna go to At&t, get the plan I want, get an LTE sim and pop it in.
I've read people talking of signal stregth, APN's, radios etc...Do I need to update anything or flash anything?
How are radios updated anyways with the Dev Edition?

Developer edition is pretty much identical to the AT&T version. You shouldn't need to update anything to get it running.
