[Q] Battery terminals question. - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i have gotten a nasty bootloop problem and i am pretty sure it's because of a faulty battery. I am planning on ordering a new one on ebay but the problem i have is that the battery only have 3 terminals while my phone has 4 connectors and the battery has 4 terminals.
So what i am basicly is asking is will a 3 terminal battery work on a 4 connector phone ?
Thanks.

Four connectors is because of the NFC chip inside of battery. Three connectors probably works fine but you'll lose NFC.
Google product nr written on battery. There must be someone who have them, otherwise contact Samsung and ask them.

Bro bootloop never occurs due any battery or hardware faults you have to flash the firmware and perform factory reset.

my s3 mini got into a boot loop once i flashed stock firmware after a custom rom, fixed with wiping data.

Wrong. Last October I had random reboots and bootloops and then the battery would say 0%, but when I connect a charger it showed correct % (not 0, obviosly). Got a new battery and all is working fine

remove the battery and check the USB port for contamination.. try blowing air or clean it gently with cloth (may be dipped in pure alcohol). let it dry. reinsert the battery and try again

Get a tight micro usb connector and connect and disconnect it to the note usb port. It should clean the port out. I had the same problem with my note.
I have tried 2 different micro usb connector but didn't help. I think there might be some problem in the internal circuit.

You can easily replace the charger board if you think that's the issue...its about 35 dollars and very easy to install

This problem happened to me about 3 days ago. My screen is constantly turning on, if i'm not charging it. And the icon is flapping between charging and not charging, even i have unplugged the cable.
I am using stock rom and saw a new firmware upgrade last night, did it, and look like it has resolved the problem (last night), however, happened again, this morning.
I want to know if this is a "battery" related problem or "hardware"?
hope someone can help
thanks guys

Does charging cut in and out when you wiggle the charger?
Does the issue happen when on battery alone? Screen flicker?

if the conditions cited by AndroidSlave occur then you just have to calibrate the battery with some complete charge cycle

I ve already advise a few guys on this , happening to lots of SGN now, (getting old lol) use a thin flat screw driver and gently lift the middle small plate at the charging port up (if u look closely its touching the bottom part of the port) then use small brush n alcohol n clean the port. Should take care of yr problem. Cheers

Actually, tried with a air blower, seem to be working. Will try the alchol, guess the SGN worked so hard during the week, it deserves a glass on the weekend. 8)

Update: I charged the phone overnight, and when i unplug the cable this morning, the same problem, used the air blower immediately seem to fix it. One more note, when this is happening, if i turned off the phone, i can't turn it back on until i plug it to a real charger in order to start up the phone
Can charges but not storing
SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE, could be able to charges, battery bar moving up like normals, but battery decrease and seems not storing even thought the battery bar is moving like normal, tested while off the phone, same cant store battery, try to clean the micro-usb with brush, still same, is that a mainboard problem ?tried search the forums, but no luck~ any help ??

Battery drops to Zero Suddenly in JB - Help

I have recently upgraded my note to official JellyBean via kies and after tht i am having horrible battery problems.
And if i use builtin internet application, the screen starts to flicker and then phone shuts down.
No matter whts the battery at the time of using, after crash battery always shows 1%.
Also when charging it gets charged 10% in 5mins, 20% in 15mins and if i unplug then it automatically gains power like frm 20% to 22% suddenly.
Have done factory reset, cleared cahce, calibrated battery but nothings working.
Do i have to reinstall fresh JB frm external usb OR battery is dying
JB version: DDLSC
Could be that the battery is dying... I had to change my battery about a month ago as I had the same symptoms... The battery should last about a year before it starts showing these problems.
Yup, buying new battery.
Have checked everywhere today, but Samsung itself doesn't have stocks of battery and its almost impossible to procure one from any shops/distributors.
Some guy off ebay is claiming genuine battery costing USD12 but in OEM loose packing and has Samsung logo of authenticity sticker, wonder if I should go with it... BTW, retail pack battries in my country is USD 24.
How to differentiate between fake and genuine batteries ?

I got the same problem with me. Its of no probs with JB but with your battery. Seems now is the right time for all those you bought their note during the initial launch of the product.
I bought an extended battery today and it is good from ebay and looks fine. Be wary there is no warranty but based on the previous purchasers feedback I opt for it and I don't regret.

PS : I do not promote/linked by any means either with this product or seller. Just I got a good battery doesn't mean you will also get one. But the seller seems genuine and takes seller 1 month replacement in my case.
hello dr!!!the new battery solved the problem that you were facing????????
coz i m facing the same problem too!
I can confirm it's the battery issue. Same symptom as described in the OP.
Back to normal when changed a new battery. No more flickering or sudden drop of battery.
Attached picture is the old battery. It swelled at the center. You can see the gap on the edges.

[Q] Xperia T battery problem

*snip*
From your description, it seems like the battery is defective.
I had a similar experience.
I am the king of this experience my battery was dead in the same way the phone shut donw immediately after unplug it from the wall
Inviato dal mio GT-I9300 con Tapatalk 4
It's coming, one year after release, all batteries will be dead.
Btw. I changed my battery about 2 months ago and now, when I have about 3% and I am using GPS, the phone shuts down without warning.
I guess I can say that. Xperia T is really poor product. I've never had so bad experience with battery or power manager or whatever is responsible for this, on any mobile device I've owned.
Poor Bond...

It's a longshot, but it might be that the battery connector is not completely secure, and ends up getting enough of a juice boost when you plug in the charger, maybe because it's a 5V charger and the battery is rated at 3.7V.
LT30p instruction: open the sim/memory flap, remove the little screw ion the side, and carefully pry the case open with a plastic tool along the entire edge, bit by bit, until it pops off real easy.
LT30a instruction: pry off the top and bottom back pieces (they feel more rubbery than the main piece) and remove all 4 screw holding down the main piece, and carefully pry the case open with a plastic tool along the entire edge, bit by bit, until it pops off real easy.
The battery connector should have the "+" and "-" symbols on the top, but there shouldn't be a problem finding it (it's obviously next to the battery )
Good Luck
This is really not the connector problem, when it happens over and over again, even with new battery.
I've been monitoring voltage drop under different circumstances. Even with new battery and over 1000mA drain, the voltage drops by almost 300mV.
I've been using batteries in other device types, capable to give more than 20C, without such voltage drop.
I know that I can't compare big batteries from helicopter models with this one, but 1000mA is only 0,56C of 1780mAh battery. And the worst thing is, that this should be a "Bond" phone.
Good morning I tried to disassemble the battery to change only the cell pack but without positive results the problem is the metallic pin where the battery is plugged they are in inverted position and the battery does not enter in its position. I am wait the new that come from Cina and need more time

I had the same problem happen to me. I purchased my Xperia T in October 2012 and have only been experiencing these restarts for about 2 weeks from now. The gut feeling I had that started this was after I was using my phone as a GPS and charging it in my car at the same time, my phone became really hot and shut itself down.
Anyways, I almost 100% knew it was the battery. SO, I went online to purchase a Brand new battery and replaced it myself. After 2 days use, it is as good as New. (so far) Proving more to the point that is was indeed the battery.
I knew that if I sent it to Sony they would take too long and possibly not even fix it. Instead it took me a few mins to look for the New battery and less than 30 mins to install it!
If anyone needs help replacing their broken battery with a new one, message me.
Hope this helps.
My XT is 5 months old and last saturday I started experiencing same issues but I thought it was caused by faulty SIM card. I reset my phone, made repair several times with SUS and PC Companion but without success. When I remove SIM card phone will boot normaly but when SIM is inserted and battery level is under 50% it will shuts down as soon as it gets GSM signal.
Then I discovered that when it is connected to charger it will boot up normaly again and if I remove charger and try to send SMS or make call it will simply shuts down.
I am very dissapointed. I love Sony but this should not happening.
Replaced old battery with new one and all my problems gone

[Q] GT-n7000 Dead, no response

Hello!
I got an old Samsung gt-n7000, it worked well until the battery went old. The screen started to flickering for some days, until the battery lost all the power, the mobile turned off and I could not recharge it. I then bought a new battery and everything worked, I thought. Until I should charge the phone, it still dident work to charge it. I look all over the internet and found that maybe its the usb connector in the phone that stop working. I ordered one at ebay, got it today but it still don't give me any response at all.
The phone was rooted for ca one year ago, but then I factory reset it to all original. So this dosenĀ“t matter?
Any thoughts what I can do? Is it just trash?
My advice is to get an external battery charger and a spare battery.
It could also very well be a bad usb cable.

I already tried 5 different cables and none of them work sadly.
Yeah I guess that's the only way?
I suspect something like this would work as well.
Please note that i have not tested/used/researched/ordered this. But its what i would consider giving your situation.

Are battery problems with this phone somewhat common?

Pretty sure I have a faulty battery that is dying while trying to boot up from 0%.
Any other reports of battery issues with this phone?

Never had this happen
Could be a bad battery. My sweetie just bought a new one whilst out on the town even though I have another one.
She's on my s4. But, I would say you hafta lift the board with a fingernail file.
If using a metal nail file. Obviously, no power.
I came across a couple of batteries that came with the Extra Battery Kit directly from Samsung, unable to hold a full charge. There is a problem, but not pertaining to a specific carrier. After multiple replacements, I finally got a Battery from Samsung through their Extra Battery Kit Made and Assembled in Korea. So far, no problems whatsoever. Not saying that location in where the battery was assembled matters. I could have just been lucky.
