Gear waterproof

Hello guys, yes i know i could google that, and did, but i do not figure out whether it is water restistant/proof.

it is "splash proof" meaning it shouldn't get hurt from occasionally getting a little water on it from sources like walking in a light rain, or washing your hands without submerging it.
It is most defiantly not water proof, do not submerge it under water, it will die.

Yes what Milimbar said. Don't bath, or swim with it.
Some users report the camera fogging up after getting wet.

there was a post some time ago from a guy that left it on accidentally in the shower and it had no damage but i woudlnt recommend that

I accidentally submerged mine while cleaning the fish tank pump. I nearly pooped when I did it but quickly shook off the water and it came out unharmed. Admittedly, I didnt go trying to take pictures afterward but the next day, the camera seemed fine too. That was two months ago and haven't had an issed or another serious accident.

This is pretty specific and precise it seems to me. Not sure what the OP is unclear about.
From the IP55 rating, no, it is not suitable for full immersion for any length of time, nor is it protected at any depth.
Rather -- again just from the description above -- you can hit it with a stream of water for minutes at a time, from all different angles, and it will be fine.
IOW, no problem with getting it wet. Yes problem with immersion.

Waterproof case for the N6?

Anyone know of a waterproof case for the N6? Something similar to a lifeproof case, perhaps? I know its water resistant, but looking for waterproof.

I believe the Nexus 6 is IP67 rated - 1 meter submersion in water for 30 minutes with no damaging ingress of water.

It's not it's only splash resistant like the moto x due to the nano coating

So this isn't scientific or from the manufacturer, but some guys did an IP67 test and the Moto X passed. The moto website only says "water resistant" which is horribly ambiguous. The Nexus 6 has the same water resistant tech.

I'm an electronics engineer, and a few of our products are "IP67" rated. A lot of times the manufacturer will not state or guarantee the IP67 rating because some devices will inevitably get water damage and then customers get pissed because they think waterproof means water invincible.
I would bet the Nexus 6 will pass the IP67 test every time - provided the device is new and the seals aren't damaged and you haven't dropped it too much.

Interesting. I watched a Motox review that showed the opposite--phone stopped working after a couple minutes in a kitchen sink.

My theory could very well be wrong. Search "submersion test" at androidpit.com.

Everyone should tweet lifeproof to let them know there is a demand. The nuud would be awesome for this device.

One of the YouTube videos I watched on the nexus 6 had it submerged in a bath tub and it worked fine.

The nexus is not nearly popular enough for lifeproof to make a case. They only do iphones, galaxy s series, and the droid turbo. They only did the turbo as part of a deal with Verizon because Verizon is most likely their largest customer.

I have a couple of these. I hate em lol.

I use my phone in the rain snow and water fell on it here and there no issues. What are you gonna go take photos of Atlantis? Lol

I'm looking for a case myself. This spring I will be riding ATV's in the dirt/mud/water etc, and want to fully protect my phone. Sure, I could drop a sim in my S4 and grab a lifeproof for that but would prefer to bring my normal phone with me.
My ultimate goal is to handle-bar mount it, paired with a go-pro.

Yeah I was thinking similarly for my Mountain Bike.

I just want to use mine in the shower in the morning, but scared the steam and water will still get in despite the nano coating

Even IP67 certified stuff could get water damage if you accidentally put the device right in the stream of water

Don't do this. The heated water/steam will damage it without a good case designed for water proof.

[Q] Is the original watch strap that comes with the watch waterproof?

I know the watch is waterproof, but is the leather band? I realize it's leather, but there is such a thing as waterproof leather. And why make a watch that's waterproof but give it a band that is not? If you know the answer, please point me in the direction of where you read that it was or was not. Thank you

my watch survived a kayaking experience (along with my s5) without any apparent harm.

Occasional waterdrops is no problem for the strap but it won't like a shower. For a waterproof strap you'll have to change to plastic type.

No, the watch ain't waterproof they way it souds when you say it. You can carefully walk in rain / wash your hands with watch on your wrist, but you can not put it under water (swimming or so) or keep it while going to shower. In fact you can, but it's most likely gonna suck water in.

It can be under water for short periods, with zero issues.
I've worn mine at a water park, going in and out of water for short periods, zero problems.

I still would not recommend outright "swimming" with it. Since that may keep it under for longer than rated. I also would not try a shower, just because depending on the water jets, it's not 9k rated.

Definitely not, considering there aren't any flaps to cover the microUSB port like the S5 has.
It would be a very nice thing to have, but I figure the reason the S5 had it, but not the Note 3 or 4, is that the Wacom pen silo inherently makes things more difficult to seal off.

Kind of a ridiculous question that could easily be found out on your own. Not a single review posted online of the device has mentioned any sort of waterproofing or IP certification.

This is Applesung, if Apple doesn't do water resistance phones, then Samesung won't either.

The Galaxy S9 Is IP68 Water-Resistant — Here's What That Really Means

The day has finally arrived — Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S9 and S9+. Apart from minor upgrades, the two might not appear to be much different from last year's S8 and S8+, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. One feature that hasn't changed is the Galaxy's IP68 water-resistance rating. That's a great score, but it begs the question — what does that number really mean?
First of all, if you don't know what the IEC 60529 is, don't worry — it's a standard put out by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, which is basically a test with set rules and regulations. A device is then assigned an IP rating for resistance to dust and water in accordance to its performance on the test. To quote the standard itself:

This standard describes a system for classifying the degrees of protection provided by enclosures of electrical equipment for two conditions: 1) the protection of persons against access to hazardous parts and protection of equipment against the ingress of solid foreign objects and 2) the ingress of water. While "IP Code" really stands for "International Protection Marking," most nowadays refer to it as "Ingress Protection." All that really means is how well protected a device is against dust and water.
Speaking of dust and water, those elements are not weighed together into one grade. In fact, the number assigned to a device — the one that appears after the "IP" prefix — are two individual ratings. The first number denotes how "dust-proof" the device is, or how well the device protects against dust and solid particles, while the second reflects its "waterproofing," or how well the device keeps water from entering and damaging the sensitive electronic parts inside.
Samsung's latest Galaxy devices both earned themselves a rating of IP68 in the IEC 60529 tests. While a very high score — higher than the 2017 line of iPhones' IP67 — these phones are not waterproof, just water resistant.
IP: The abbreviation of "Ingress Protection," the rating system for a device's dust- and water-resistance.
6: An IP rating's first number represents a device's dust protection rating. A "6," although smaller than the S9's second IP number, actually means the device is completely dustproof. Good on you, Samsung!
8: Water resistance is denoted by the second number of the rating. An "8" shows that the S9 devices can be fully submerged in water as deep as 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. For reference, the iPhone X, which scored a "7," can be submerged for 30 minutes at 1 meter deep.
So, what does this mean for you? If you accidentally drop your new phone in your toilet, get caught in the rain, or spill a tasty beverage on it, you shouldn't panic. However, you shouldn't push your luck — going swimming with an IP68-certified device isn't foolproof, and the chemicals you find in a swimming pool or the saltwater of the ocean might not mix well with your S9. Our advice? So just be careful.

It all comes down to your warranty coverage. While we don't know yet about the S9's policy, with the S8, Samsung includes a limited warranty that covers manufacturer defects for one year, battery issues for six months, among other things. However, soak your S8 to the point of damage? You've voided your warranty.
That changes if you opt-in to Samsung Premium Care, a monthly-subscription coverage that extends the boundaries of your warranty by leaps and bounds. If you take your S8 for a swim, the device will be completely covered, even if the components inside fry before you dry. You get up to three cases of accidental damage per 12 month period, though, so the fourth time you lose your Galaxy at the bottom of the pool, it's like you never had coverage to begin with.
In short, what you've heard about the S9 is mostly true — the phone stands up well against the elements. While spills, grime, and accidental submerges shouldn't be cause for concern, we'd still warn against diving deep with your S9. It doesn't matter if the phone is IP68 or IP67 — if water touches the wrong parts, you could be in trouble.

Personally I won't ever put my device under any water at all. Sure, it's water resistant, but if you ever drop, or bump your device, that could be enough to put a TINY little micro leak in the water seal, allowing water into the device. And if that happens, bye bye device, bye bye warranty.
I've never understood people who take their phone into the shower to be honest.

U can use in shower yes.
But maybe Touch dont work.
You have to remap your Volume Buttons (e.g. long press for next song)

I have Bixby remapped to skip to next song. I wouldn't even turn on the screen probably aha. But whatever, it'll stay outside and that's fine as well

Did you ever do take it there ?
Cause they mentioned that it should be still water, and there's quite a splash going in a shower

Every day. It's doesn't matter if its splashing water or still water.
