Keyboard after root. Help? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Has anyone else noticed that keyboard symbols are gone? I can't long hold for "&" or any other symbols. Anyway to fix this? And no xposed doesn't work I tried
from my frothy.... froth... frosty... frost

I was about to post a thread about the same thing. I noticed it a bit ago and now it's kind of annoying so I just installed SwiftKey until somethings figured out.

Even Google keyboard the symbols are gone. Could we have froze or deleted something? I only deleted SOME AT&T bloat but not all of it. I froze everything else I found to be bloat. I thought it was xposed but then I Uninstalled the framework and it didn't fix it's self. I'm OCD so not having it is really bothering me

The root has made things a bit different. Ultra power saver, keyboard, what else? And why. Maybe the kernal exploit? Could messing around in a kernal do such things?

I'm wondering if we reinstalled the keyboard application from stock back on if it would fix by any chance

You! You S.O.B. that did the trick it did. Don't know why I didn't think of it. Turn on keyboard symbols and secure keyboard.

So what's the fix? Please

Mine did the same thing when I flashed SLIMKAT 4.4.4 I rebooted twice and the keyboard was back, all of it. Hope you figure it out.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk

Remember too that if xposed wanam is ever installed, then there is a setting in system that disables the symbols on the keys of the keyboard by default. You must enable it yourself. Even if you uninstall wanam, whatever this setting is will remain.

[REQ] Smart keyboard honeybread colors

Can anyone assist me in creating the images for such a theme?
Sent from my Sexus yeS
If its only about creating images i may be able to help u, but i think i wont have time till the weekend....
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
Okay, that's fine with me. I just want all aspects of the phone to be themed
Sent from my Sexus yeS
Ok, just post the link to the theme and the smartkeyboard apk and tell me how u want it to look then im gonna start.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
Ill post later today when I get the time. Thanks for offering the help
Sent from my Sexus yeS
Okay, here is the link to the smart keyboard. and here is the theme http://www.mediafire.com/?yy778k6t2nvltj7. I'd like the keyboard background to be black with fading blue glow around the borders of each key. That's basically all I have for now lol. If you want to add your own touch to it please do.
Ok im out with friends right now, and i think its gonna get late. But tomorrow ill see what i can do
Edit: i think u should remove the smart keyboard link, cause its paid. But im gonna pm it to u as soon as im done.
Edit2: I`ve looked at it and those r all *.9.png`s. To edit them i have to Decompile the apk and Recompile it. And i really have no idea how to compile signed market apps.

You should check the official Smart Keyboard forum. Somebody has started work on this: http://www.dexilog.com/smartkeyboard/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1007
Completely forgot about theme chooser, could try doing it with that, but it will take a while cause ive never done that before, another thing i could try is just to make a fake apk to compile the .9.png and see if it works when i put them into the smartkeyboard.apk. ill report when im back on the computer.

Yes, but that only works for .png if u do that with .9.png u mess it up completely. The only thing u could do with .9.png is to let them run through a specific script (read the name somwhere on the net but cant remember) and just change the rgb values. Besides that i never tried it and cant tell if it works, theres still the problem, that u couldnt just make blue outlines on the keys or fade the bg from black to blue.
If u've been able to do that, tell me how, coz i never got .9.png to work without compiling them in an app.

That's why I was so confused on why you guys were trying to modify the skin of the keyboard from the .apk. The actual application supports themes that makes it easier. It's like trying to reskin CM7 when there's a built-in theme manager. Just use the theme manager, it gets the job done easy and quick.
Enjoy.

Sorry guys, but I've been contacted by Swype and they've asked me to take it down, which I can wholeheartedly respect. Yeah I think the OP's method enables the gestures because when I try to open google maps (using the gestures) (<edit: lol) the keyboard just closes(not a force close) I guess the lib edit give it the gestures update

[Theme] [ei22] SooperPink Beta 2

This is a pink theme I made today whilst sitting in my boxers not cleaning like I should be.
Thanks to RandomKing for the transparent MMS I implemented.
Also thanks to the makers of Pretty In Pink for alot of the icon files.
I went through 4 alphas and 2 betas, beta 2 appears to be working correctly with everything I wanted implemented.
Tested to work fully on ACS ICS v5 but I have yet to try others. All bug reporting would be appreciated, or tips on anything I should add change remove etc.

[MOD] On-Screen Navigation Bar

This mod enables the nav bar on the Droid Maxx (and proably the Droid Ultra), disables the capacitive buttons. And i recommend installing the app from the link below.
This mod uses the framework-res.apk from after Software Update 1 (12.15.15 for the Maxx). I do not know if it will work on the earlier verison.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2350732
!!!! THIS NOT A FLASHABLE ZIP !!!!
But, it is pretty straight forward. Unzip, read the "read me", and follow the install instructions.
If anyone would like to help and show me how to make this SafeStrap flashable I would really appreciate the help. And it will allow this mod and future mod to be more user friendly.
Your instruction in the readme is a little off, "cp /sdcard/framework-res.apk /system/framework/" should read "cp /sdcard/framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk".
Otherwise, it did enable the bar, but did not disable the capacitative keys. Also, if anyone uses the long press on recents for menu key emulation, it does not work on the on screen buttons.
Finally, you can use the shell command "echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/nutton-backlight/brightness" without the quotes to turn off the capacitative lights, instead of using the app linked.
Otherwise, thanks for the mod! I'm kinda a fan of the onscreen buttons, just haven't had the time to figure it out myself.
Here is an attempt at a flashable zip, haven't done one in a while and can't test as I don't use safestrap atm.
Feel free to test at your own risk, the most likely error is that it won't mount system correctly, in which case it won't install anything. In that case, just mount system manually and try again.

Cool, I just have a Droid mini so I would need the xposed app. Unless the OP wants to put out a little tutorial on the framework edits. I can do it myself.

Its super easy. Decompile, go to res/values/bools.xml, find line that has show navigation bar change to true, then find show menu bar and change to false. That's it.

[Q] Now that we have root, can someone please get rid of the teal color everywhere??

It's driving me absolutely nuts and it looks utterly horrid. Any way to change the color/pattern/anything at all would be bloody amazing. Please someone help me change that damn color.
I would even be happy with mustard friggin yellow if I had to, but I'd prefer a dark-metal or something similar. Anything but ****ing teal.
Yea it's easy Matakor. Download Wanam Xposed from Play Store. It will ask you to install Xposed Framework, install it and enable Wanam Xposed. After a reboot, you can go into Wanam Xposed and theme the teal color. The video on the play store of Wanam Xposed run through just about everything.

Yes it does. You didn't set your phone up the right way. And you can't do it system wide. Only for your notification area
from my frothy.... froth... frosty... frost
Crap. I was doing something wrong.
I forgot to hit apply at the top.
Works now. Will have to change a lot of it. awesome.
Ok, being able to change the notification panel is nice and all, but I would still like to be able to nix the entire teal theme...
Hey that's a start ⤴ . Thanks.

This is true. I do agree, it is a start.
Now all we need is a total conversion. Like a dark-stock theme or something, and I'll be happy.
