So my phone was on the latest update 4.4.2 and I accidently soft-bricked by flashing it the wrong way.
I tried to return it back to 4.4.2 AT&T version but Odin needed the PIT partition formatting so I had no luck because the .md5 file is not out yet (Right?).
So I am going to send this phone to my cousin in Asia and he needs the unlocked version. Can I flash it with the 4.4.2 international version? I think this time it will work because there is the .md5 file.
No you can not because of locked bootloader there is a thread in general that will get you up and running this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2703006

This is the thread Jerrycoffman45 was talking about - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2703006 . It will bring your phone back to MLG and from there you can root, install busybox, and then SafeStrap.

From what I am seeing in the comments, no one has reported that it counted as a flash against them. The user taki7610 posted a couple photos showing that his phone was up and running and that it still said 0x0.

Did I misunderstand? Isn't 0x1 tripping knox, thus breaking warranty?

Yes, 0x1 is a knox counter trip. What I was saying was to check the forum to make sure whether or not it will trip knox. Anything that will trip knox will be clearly stated somewhere in the post.

You can get past KNOX. Look around. I had the same problem you did and I had to re-flash the stock ROM.

Using Odin to return to stock does not trip Knox.
Flashing or trying to flash a custom recovery will trip Knox.

anyway to disable Knox?
Hello everyone. I have a question in regards to rooting my S6. My s6 has version 5.0.2 and the OCG baseband. Should I upgrade to 5.1.1 before I root? I would like to root without tripping the Knox counter. Also, if I were to root without tripping knox, would I have to use this method every time I flash a new rom? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
just update to 5.1.1 and flash unibase kernel, why do you care about knox? it doesnt really matter if you trip it you still have insurance through your carrier, seriously knox is really only there for companies who provide phones to their employees and dont want them to mess with them.

I can understand that, but I would like to keep from tripping my knox counter. Anyways, I just rooted via PingPong successfully. How do I keep from triggering knox now that I am rooted? Can I flash TWRP or any other kind or recovery?? Thanks.
no, if you want to keep from tripping your knox counter you cant really do anyhting. flashing any kind of custom recovery or rom or kernel will trip it, all you can really do is just stay rooted and thats about it

Ping-pong requires no computer, right? And also , is it confirmed working with this tmobile S6? I am on the latest update and have been stalling on root due to having no PC.

Hi guys
Last night I upgraded to N910TUVU2EPG2 official rom. My phone wasn't rooted and I was of official marshmallow rom but to my surprise after the upgrade to EPG2.... MY KNOX WAS TRIPPED
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1 (2)
What am I supposed to do?
I mean I didn't do anything it was OTA UPDATE
Did you buy the device new? I have a refurbished note 4, and when I got it knox was tripped. I'm not sure if the previous user had rooted the device or if all refurbished devices have knox tripped on them for warranty reasons.

I have flashed official rom through Odin but my phone was never rooted. I was using knox since last 1 yr I can definitely say it wasn't tripped but yesterday there was an upgrade of abt 309 mb and suddenly I knox was tripped .
Do I have any option now?
I can't even check for official updates now it says
"The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way .try downloading software updates using smart switch on your computer or visit a customer service center. "
I can't connect through kies 3 and smart switch as well... Fail to initialize error in smart switch and in kies it just disconnects the phone when I try upgrading
First, if your device is over a year old the warranty is over anyway. Try using Odin to reset your firmware. Download from a reputable place like Sam mobile then let us know how it's going.

Or is the game over now?

You can always use Odin to update your device.give me a minute and I'll find a Sam mobile download app for your pc. It'll help you download the latest firmware.

I'm trading in my phone and want to return my Note 5 to Factory.
I see from prior threads that the method for doing this is to flash the firmware file from sammobile.com.
Does flashing this also take care of unrooting the device and restoring the stock recovery? Also what about the bootloader, does that need to be locked in some way?

OP title says "..... reset to FACTORY condition"...
There is absolutely no known method to return to "factory" condition. The content of his post does not indicate that he / she is informed, so flashing stock firmware after root will not do this at all. [emoji6]

Hi guys I had thes8 plus and first thing I did was root and flash custom Rom when it come to selling it to get the note 8 I hated how many apps where still broken from tripping knox
My question is I don't want to trip knox again on my note 8 but how easy is it to trip knox?
Can any apps from app store trip it by mistake or using adb to say go to full immersive mode?
Or a couple off modded apps like YouTube modded?
Thanks

The only thing that will trip knox is flashing a custom recovery - which is required to root.
Don't root and you will be fine.
no apps can trip knox
adb wont either
