[Q] Need help finding correct stock rom - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I`m having some problems finding the correct RUU for reverting back to stock. I want to get back to stock rom and update to Sense 6.
Currently my device has been converted to Google Play Edition.
I have S-OFF and superCID. The Device had the bootloader unlocked but I relocked it in order to install RUU`s. I can unlock it back if necessary.
Here is my fastboot getvar all
Code:
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.54.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 4T.27.3218.09
(bootloader) version-cpld: None
(bootloader) version-microp: None
(bootloader) version-main: 4.07.1700.4
(bootloader) version-misc: PVT SHIP S-OFF
(bootloader) serialno: ***
(bootloader) imei: ***
(bootloader) meid: 00000000000000
(bootloader) product: m7_ul
(bootloader) platform: HBOOT-8064
(bootloader) modelid: PN0710000
(bootloader) cidnum: 11111111
(bootloader) battery-status: good
(bootloader) battery-voltage: 4104mV
(bootloader) partition-layout: Generic
(bootloader) security: off
(bootloader) build-mode: SHIP
(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT
(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: dirty-b296905a
(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 11
(bootloader) gencheckpt: 0
After I relocked my bootloader I tried these RUU`s:
1. RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_4.19.401.9_R_Radio_4A.23.3263.28_10.38r.1157.04L_release_353069_signed_2-1.exe -> It hanged on 5% - Checking header.
2. RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_4.19.1540.9_Radio_4A.23.3263.28_10.38r.1157.04L_release_353887_signed_3.exe -> It gave me an error right before it started the flashing process and forced me to quit.
I`m not trying to get it back to factory defaults for waranty, like removing tampered, s-off, locked rather than relocked or any of those things. I just want to install stock ROM with Sense 6.
If you could point me in the right direction that`d be great and any help is highly appreciated.

Thank you for the reply. I tried the tutorial you pointed me to but with no success. I guess I wasn„t able to find the correct RUU. I even changed my MID and CID a couple of times for a couple of other RUU`s with the same result.
After some more digging, as I have a .401 device, I found it easier to use the system dump from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224752 .
Changed CID to superCID and flashed this through TWRP. And flashed the stock recovery from the same thread for OTA updates.
Thanks again for your answer.

The 4.19.401.9 RUU would've done the job fine but glad you're OK now

I tried that RUU, RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_4.19.401.9_R_Radio_4A.23.3263.28_10.38r.1157.04L_release_353069_signed_2-1.exe to be exact and I got ROM IMAGE ERROR. (330 if I remember correctly).
I started with MID PN0710000 and SuperCID, flashed hboot 1.44 as said in the thread you mentioned and tried to flash the above RUU.
I got ROM IMAGE ERROR so I tried it with CID HTC__001 and HTC__102 with the same result.
My original getvar, before converting it to GPE was:
Code:
version: 0.5
version-bootloader: 1.56.0000
version-baseband: 4A.26.3263.05
version-cpld: None
version-microp: None
version-main: 4.19.161.11
version-misc: PVT SHIP S-ON
serialno: ***
imei: ***
meid: 00000000000000
product: m7_ul
platform: HBOOT-8064
modelid: PN0710000
cidnum: VODAP001
battery-status: good
battery-voltage: 3900mV
partition-layout: Generic
security: on
build-mode: SHIP
boot-mode: FASTBOOT
commitno-bootloader: dirty-09ff2ded
hbootpreupdate: 11
gencheckpt: 0
all: Done!

Ah, so you have a Vodafone-branded One? That'd be why, BUT if you're S-OFF and CID is HTC__001 or 11111111 it should've flashed without issues. Strange...

From what I see from your ''fastboot getvar all'' your CID is HTC__J15 and MID PN0711000 so you need a .401 base RUU like this one : http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_u_jb_50_htc_europe_1-29-401-2_r_radio_4a-14-3250-13_10-33-1150-01_release_311663_signed_2_4-exe/ not a .707
But you are S-on, you shouldn't be able to run a RUU because it require Hboot downgrade to 1.44 (you are on 1.54)
Maybe you should go with a guru reset from htc1guru.com or attemp to s-off and run the 1.29.401 ruu.exe

if i down grade my hboot is it gonna effect my device preformance and can i receive the OTA updates??
why getting S-ON is Big mistake...??

We don't care! Let me explain: you have to downgrade hboot to 1.44 to be able to run that ruu I linked above. After the ruu process is complete you will receive ota and hboot will update to latest version avail.

Yes after a RUU restore, your device will be 100% stock (stock OS, stock recovery etc...) so as long your MID and CID match the ruu, you will receive ota updates.

Allways stay s-off !!! If you still were s-off, you simply had to run that ruu.exe i linked above. Now with s-on you can't downgrade hboot. Nothing guarantee you will be able to s-off again when you go back s-on. so better to stay s-off.
now go read that thread I linked above (nkk71 guide to return stock) and you will find many options to return stock. You can also use a decrypted ruu.zip and edit the android-info.txt to match your mid and cid.

so get s-off using rumrunner, then use this ruu: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_..._10-33-1150-01_release_311663_signed_2_4-exe/
EDIT: hold on, once s-off, change your CID "fastboot oem writecid HTC__J15" (two underscores, and capital J, not lowercase), why is it lowercase??

@nkk71 I Don't know why it's lowercase but if you didn't recognized that the main version doesn't exist !!!!
Why is that ???

1- yes, i saw that, but didnt care cause you're s-off; it sometimes happens when trying to flash a firmware package and it doesnt go through successfully.
2- SuperCID is 11111111 (8 ones), then you can use any ruu you like, but it won't let you get any OTAs
3- so recommend you set HTC__J15, so you can receive OTAs
4- keep S-OFF !!

sorry, didnt understand exactly, so you ran the RUU -> so yes, you'll be 100% stock (including stock recovery, which is needed anyway), you reboot and get the notification for update to 2.24.401.2 and during update it goes to stock recovery which is normal.
What am i misunderstanding?

Bootloop after stock OTA update

Hi
I had installed my stock rom from guru reset Guru Reset M7 2.24.161.1 for my CID:VODAP001
Before doing ota i had relocked bootloader and s-on
Heres my details:
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.56.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 4A.17.3250.14

(bootloader) gencheckpt: 0
all: Done!
finished. total time: 0.074s
I now have unlocked bootloader with twrp installed. I can also s-off if i need to
How do i do ota on the stock rom without bootlooping. This was the second time i tried and same bootloop.
Is it due to s-on the boot.img doesnt flash so will it work with s-off?
Any help welcome
Thanks

As you are S-off, change your CID to HTC__001 that's 2 x "_ _" not one, without the space, CID is always 8 characters
then run this RUU, you will have to lock your bootloader for the RUU to work, BUT NEVER S-ON, EVER!!!!
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...0-38r-1157-04l_release_353069_signed_2-1-exe/
In the long run it will work out better for you. if it doesn't work, I have a Vodafone backup you can use, I used to be on Vodafone UK too and used this method to debrand my phone, best move I ever made, I now also get all OTA's from HTC servers long before VODAP001 being on HTC__001.

yes first change CID, next lock bootloader, DO NOT S-ON under any circumstances, then run the RUU
Nope non at all, if you sell it, doesn't matter which network or sim card the buyer puts in it, they will still get OTAs, they will probably prefer an unbranded phone to a Vodafone branded phone, I know I would.

Variant system version

Hi All
I had my M7 HTC One rooted with s-off running a GPE from mike1976 and all was good with the world.
I'm getting a new phone so am passing this to my mum and decided it would be better for her with everything stock so that she can get updates.
Anyway, I am having huge issues. The phone is back to stock running 4.3 but I cannot run the update as I get the variant system version issue.
I used a Guru Reset rom for the M7, although I can't remember exactly which one. However, I made sure it was for the correct CID and MID.
Getvar gives me this:
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.44.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 4A.13.3231.27
(bootloader) version-cpld: None

(bootloader) modelid: PN0710000
(bootloader) cidnum: htc__001
(bootloader) battery-status: good
(bootloader) battery-voltage: 4287mV
(bootloader) partition-layout: Generic
(bootloader) security: on
(bootloader) build-mode: SHIP
(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT
I can see the it's not showing any information for version-main. Any ideas why this would be?
Can anyone offer any advice on how I can try to resolved this?
Many thanks

I can see the it's not showing any information for version-main. Any ideas why this would be?
Can anyone offer any advice on how I can try to resolved this?
Many thanks

Variant version error is caused by a mismatch between the OS version and the MID, you'll have to s-off the phone again and change the MID to match the OS or change the OS to match the MID.
What is the OS version?
edit:
And your CID is incorrect, it should be HTC__001 not htc__001
Thanks, I'll change the CID.
The OS is 3.62.401.1.

OS is 3.62.401.1 but bootloader is 1.44 which means your OS and your firmware version doesn't match together.
Are you sure you have flashed the .401 version that is made for PN0710000 and not that one for PN0711000?
What method did you used to get back to stock? It looks like your phone is not really stock... Your hboot should be 1.55 on that version.
I think you should s-off the phone again, and run a full ruu (1.28.401.7) with PN0710000 and HTC__001
then you'll be able to apply ota updates from 1.28.401.7 to 6.09.401.5
Really appreciate your help. I'll try it when i get home.

[Q] need help getting s-off to get to stock, version-main empty

Hello,
As the title already states i a m looking for a way to get S-off so i can change the CID to a more general one and to go back to stock.
I tried several things like firewater, Rumrunner but all with no luck.
Maybe i am missing something or its because i am on bootloader 1.55, but i need some guidance, if its even possible with my phone.
The strange thing here is that the "version-main" information is empty...... maybe that can cause a problem?
I tried to change the version-main with the "echo "2.24.111.3 " | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p19 bs=1 seek=160" command and restored the "M7 TWRP Nandroid Backup CID T-MOB101 2.24.111.3" backup i downloaded from htc1guru.com and the phone startsup and seems to work great i even recieved an update.
Her some info:

You can try firewater with various combinations of ROMs and kernels. Some have had success with ARHD and Bulletproof kernel. Should that fail, there is Sunshine S-OFF but it will cost a fee ($25).

What errors did you get with firwater and rumrunner?
Your version main was/is blank because you've used a version of TWRP recovery that has the misc partition bug. It is only a cosmetic bug though and doubt it has any effect on the s-off process.

Rumrunner stops at pour 8 and tels to reboot and try again, i tried several times.
Firewater says firewater can not work on your device....
I am going to upgrade TWRP to solve the version-main bug...

Version-main will remain empty until you flash another firmware package. As Danny201281 stated it is cosmetic. Did you update to TWRP 2.6.3.3?

Use ARHD 53.0 or 62.0 and the current Bulletproof kernel. I would try ARHD with the stock kernel first before trying the Bulletproof kernel.
I would keep this site for future reference it has nandroid backups, OTA and recoveries of your version.

It's best to use 2.6.3.3 with ARHD roms. To avoid set_metedata_recursive errors when installing

Well i installed TWRP 2.6.3.3 and ARHD 53.0. Then tried firewater en Rumrunner but no joy.
After that i looked at Bulletproof kernel but it seems s-off is needed to install that kernel.
Version-main is still empty...
So what can i do more?

You need Bulletproof 14.1 to go with ARHD 53 and the kernel does not require s-off

Ok finally S-off by using Sunshine, changed CID to HTC__001
Thanks for all the help.
Now i am on os-5.11.1540.9 HBOOT-1.57m by flashing a RUU zip (WWE) for the correct CID and MID but.....
It downloads an OTA update but says; we have determined that your phone may be running a modified version of its system software.
Is this because i am still S-off?

No ...STAY S-OFF no matter what
Your CID and Software are incorrect, 5.11.1540.9 is Developer Edition
HTC__001 is International .... What RUU did you use, and what did you do between flashing the RUU and getting the Update

Wel i figured that something was wrong with the software. I installed a gurureset version and followed his instructions, did not go back S-on and OTA worked like a charm.
Thanks for all the help guys, together with your information i figure it out at the end.

Back to stock

I know there are a ton of these type of threads but every bit of information I can find seems to be little old or not quite match my needs.
My phone was Bootloader unlocked, HBoot upgraded, SuperCID, S-OFF, ViperOne 7.1 installed, Firmware Upgraded, TWRP installed
So far I have only reset my CID to the original value of HTC__001.
I'm completely lost now whether I should be flashing a stock RUU or stock Nandroid from here and I can't seem to find what would be the correct.

don't flash stock recovery and lock bootloader till you have removed Tampered and set to phone to Locked ..not relocked
Do not go S-on till your sure everything is done....
See nikk71 guide here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541082
You never mentioned returning the phone to HTC ... I was simple telling you how to get back to stock to receive updates

My apologies, I really should have made it clear my intention was to restore stock for HTC warranty.
So now I'm back to where I was the OP looking for the right RUU.zip or Nandroid.
It seems that there isn't a RUU.zip for modelid: PN0710000 / cidnum: HTC__001
There's two possible Nandroid's however:
M7 CWM Nandroid Backup / CID HTC__102 / 1.29.401.12 (DE Unbranded - Thanks to FordSierra88)
↑↑↑↑↑______Also compatible with the following CID's:______↑↑↑↑↑
HTC__001
.....
M7 CWM Nandroid Backup / CID HTC__001 / 1.28.401.7 (UK Unbranded - Thanks to MacHackz)
File Size: 426.7 MiB - Downloads: 1350
[/QUOTE]
Is there a right / wrong choice here? The phone was originally completely unbranded if that makes a difference.
[EDIT] - Actually I see the latter has been noted as damaged
I went with the first one in the end and completed all other steps.
My phone was Bootloader unlocked, HBoot upgraded, SuperCID, S-OFF, ViperOne 7.1 installed, Firmware Upgraded, TWRP installed
Click to collapse
So I've completed:
Bootloader locked, Tamper removed, Hboot degraded and stock firmware restored, CID restored, Stock ROM restored, Stock Recovery restored.
I believe I just need to go S-ON now but it's late so I'll review with a fresh head tomorrow and make sure.
Thanks @clsA for all your help!
