Hi all,
When buying your S2 in China, you while probably have the bad surprise to discover Google Play is not installed on the device.
Even by installing some .apk downloaded from the web doesn't solve the issue.
I managed to got mine working. Here's how i did.
I find the hint here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351283
You'll need to Root your device first
Here's how it goes:
1) Install GoogleServicesFramework.apk
This seems to be the issue, as when you install it you can see the permissions Google requires, and pretty much says it can access ALL the data in your phone, even the private stuff. You've been warned. (what did you expect? it's still Google after all)
2) Install Google Play with any .apk you can find, as system app (see bellow):
Instructions (Thanks to Bandage)
-1. Transfer the .apk files to your Kindle Fire via PC / Mac (remember where you put them)
- 2. Open Root Explorer App, and navigate to the transferred .apk files
- 3. Select the GoogleServiceFramework.apk and install
- 4. When complete, click "Done" and return to the file location for Vending.apk
- 5. Long-press Vending.apk and select the "Move" option on pop-up menu
Navigate to /system/app folder
- 6. Change mount option from RO to RW (read-only to read-write)
Paste Vending.apk into the /system/app folder
- 7. Long-press Vending.apk and select "Permissions" from pop-up menu
Change permissions to match all other apps in this folder (rw-r--r--)
- 8. Install Vending.apk
- 9. Reboot device
3) Launch Google Play
You should now be able to input your account and login.
For the first login, you will probably need to turn on both Wifi and APN (also can try turning off Wifi and only use APN).
You can now browse the market, but still can not install any apps.
Final step: You'll need to send some e-mail to Google (go to google play web site -> help). Explain the problem, they need to allow Play to be used by your device.
Took me a couple e-mail to get it right. The google team was very kind open to help (unlike samsung).
Go ahead and install any app you want
I recommend starting by installing Market Unlocker (especially for those in China). It lets you get the market as if you where in another country.
Hope this has been useful.
And don't forget to press the Thanks button
I actually did this a while ago (I wanted to try it out first before sharing). So i may be forgetting some specific points. Let me know how it turns out for you so i can update this How To.
Cheers

Thanks!
I tried many other ways, but they just would not work on my I9100G!
Just now I have tried this simple method and it works perfectly.
For me the final step is not necessary.
Thanks again!
Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate.
Glad i could be of any help
I did add all google services on my chinese G in november, i basically have all google services working, including calendar sync, and still on stock GB.
What i did was to take all the google apps from CM and put them in the system app folder with correct permissions.
But i remember i did setup gmail sync before getting google market (now play store) to work correctly.
For the calendar, only the sync adapter is needed, do not replace other apps, it's not needed.

HI I followed the steps but at stage 3 after reboot I open google play it 'force closes' automatically. I cannot open play app. What may be the issue. This is Chinese phone, i also tried one of the market unlcker.. is there any specific version you can suggest ?
Ok now it opens google play and displays 'loading' but nothing appears. Funny that when I try to install it from website it says 'app will be sent/installed on your phone shortly' but nothing happens
I installed a market unlocker (some random one which configured my China phone for USA T-mobile - there are other countries i can configure for too)
Any guess what could be problem ?
It's not the right way!!!
It seems to work properly, but it may cause some problem, frequent FC for example. And some apps even can't work, such as Foursquare, which you can have a try. It's not only the Google Play but also the whole gapps that are not included in the Chinese ROM. The GoogleServicesFramework.apk and GooglePlay.apk are just part of it, so this problem can't be solved by simply installing some apks.
The right way is to download the right gapps from this page: goo.im/gapps and flash it from CMW.To do that, you must flash a kernel first, such as superatoms, lucir.
Or, you can simply root your phone and decompress that zip file and move it to your phone to the right folder.Never forget to fix the permission. You'd better do that through adb.
I can't agree with what you're saying. I have a chinese G and installed all google apps from Cyanogen wiki, with the exception of goggles, everything else work perfect ! Including Gmail with full sync, contacts with full sync, calendar with full sync, music working, books working etc ... Stock zcki1 rooted.

Thanx for the walkthrough. I got the market working but can't download. Will be contacting Google help soon.
ICS 4.0.4
They just released the ICS 4.0.4 ROM for China, that one also does not have any of the GAPPS, in addition some
service providers actively block Google services so installing GAPPS will do no good unless you set up a VPN

Can someone please explain where and how to change permissions!
What permission are you talking about?
If you are talking about the root, their are a lot of threads talking about how to do it on xda, and all over the web.

I think I may need an 'idiots guide' to all this because I have no clue and no idea what flash and all thats means.... I brought my S2 online and had no idea it was coming from China and that it won't have Google Play on there.
I have tried the above steps but can't even get the 1st one right.. :/
I have tried downloading 'Google Service Framework.apk' from my phone and computer but everytime it tries to install it, it finishes by saying 'Application Not Installed'. Really getting very confused and need urgent help. Please can you let me know where I am going wrong? Many thanks.
Seems you didn't root your phone.
But before doing anything, you should learn a little bit what you are about to do. There are several threads on root issues, or guides for begginers.
Also, double check if you have the i9100 or i9100G version. It's important when you root.

Just wondering about kernel version number too. Mine says '2.6.35.7-I9100'. Does this seem right? Thanks
You are checking the android version. That's not what's important. What you need to check is to take the same kernel version and rom version called basedband version (may be the similar with the build number). For example i have the i9100gzcle2 version. There are some threads about this around here.

-Google My tracks
-FX currency converter
many others that I would like to use alternative apps are also giving same issue.

Hi shivaraman.
I'm not sure i understand exactly what is your problem. Do you have Play installed? Can you install some apps with it? If yes, you're all good.
Market enabler is only going to help.you once you get Play working correctly. Market Enabler doesnt fix Play. It only simulate you are from another country, as if you changed your sim card.
I figured out this methode using android 2.3.6. There is no guaranty it works on ICS. I would suggest trying swiching back to 2.3.6 (if possible, it might be the hatdest part) and try the methode again. Play stays installed when upgrading to 4.0.4
A lot of apps are blocked due to the chinese ROM. Seem the bootloader is posing the problem and is locked. I still didnt find any solution for that. A couple month ago Odia started posting he may had a solution. But he never told what it was.

yes. i tried it also, and it works fine.
also i found that Google NOW works fine. i found the instructions also on XDA but i forgot the topic:
1. Download Google Now v6-signed.zip and make sure it is somewhere on your phone.
2. Reboot the phone into safestrap
3. Install the zip like you would any rom (install update.zip and then navigate to the zip you downloaded and select yes).
4. Reboot phone and wait. It will update your apps and take a little bit.
5. Once your system has finished booting, open your app drawer and select Google Search (should be a blue square with a white google "g" in it)
6. Follow the prompts until you get to the main screen
7. Go back to your homescreen and hold down the search button on your phone.
8. Select Google Search again (the blue box with the google "g" )
9. You are done!
*You may want to select it as a default when holding down your search button, I did.
** Step number 5 & 6 is REALLY important. I had major performance problems before I figured out that I had to go through those steps.

Weird, it might be a bad application. Worst comes to worst, you can download a nexus 7 stock rom, and pull the actual livewallpaperspicker.apk to use. It's either that, or do you even have any live wallpaper applications themselves installed?

After further messing around with it, try this.
1) download LiveWallpapersPicker.apk from below.
2) Make sure you have root access.
3) Install a application to manage files with root access (example Root Explorer).
4) Move the downloaded file to your Kindle Fire HD. (Remember where you place it).
5) Go into your system/App folder, and move the LiveWallpapersPicker.apk to this folder.
6) Change permissions on LiveWallpapersPicker.apk to rw-r-r.
7) Install Live Wallpapers from the Google Market, or Sideload them
Done, this should help you out.

Make sure you are following the steps correctly. Once you move LiveWallpaperPicker.apk to system/app. Double check permissions. restart after that. I'm awesome your using a alternative launcher that is not the kindle launcher? If not that may be your problem. If you have a alternative launcher, long click your home screen and see go to wallpapers, make sure there's a option for live wallpaper. If there is you are all set, you do need to install your own live wallpapers though. I recommend using them from the android play market. Hope this helps.

The gallery, and live wallpapers are completely different applications. Gallery is to look at the pictures, and is a easy way to set wallpapers, and live wallpapers is specifically for live wallpapers only. If this is not what you where talking about, Sorry.

Can't Get Live Wallpapers To Work
My KFHD is rooted also. It has a black background screen when using other launchers. When doing the long press on the screen I get the popup to select a wallpaper and it allows me to do so. However, when I press the button to select the wallpaper, it just closes down. I have LiveWallpaper installed in the app it came with the root software, but it doesn't show up anywhere that I can use it. It's in the app folder and not found anywhere else on the device.
Can I get some help on this please? Thanks.

ROM last updated: 11/8/2018
Introduction:
HUGE thanks to the guys that got this going like root & figuring out hybrid stocks! This ROM is similiar to my previous ROM: [ROM][TMOBILE][S7_SM-G930T][Oreo 8.0 Rooted][WifiCalling], but is based on the newer OTA/FW G930TUVU4CRI2 & is MUCH faster, at least on my phone (See Tmobile versions here). I did NOT base it on G930TUVS8CRJ1 (the latest) because that has bootloader ver8, which we don't have root for yet. (DONT take that OTA since you can NOT downgrade!) And if I had to guess, the only difference are some minor security updates, but mostly the security update that prevents root!!! (So no thanks!)
Description:
Stock Tmobile Oreo 8.0 modified (G930TUVU4CRI2)
This is a hybrid ROM, meaning: because we cannot unlock our bootloader, our options are limited. A hybrid, at least in this case, is where we start with stock, then strip away all the Crapware, add some fun apps, and do some tweaks.
EXTREMELY debloated! Nearly bare minimum, while still retaining hardware functionality. Eg, Samsung Gallery & Camera exist so we get 4k recording, and there aren't errors when we pull up the Gallery to edit, etc. Yes, this means NO Samsung or Android Pay. There could be more apps to debloat but I haven't had a chance to revisit this yet. (Please provide suggestions if interested)
Everything possible I replace Samsung with Google
Solid ROM, very fast!
If you hate Samsung SW and just want a solid working ROM with very few install options to get you up and running this is for you.
This will delete all of your data on the phone! (Not external SD card) This is the only way so don't ask. Backup your data!
Features:
Tmobile Wifi Calling works, along with Visual Voicemail & Mobile Hotspot
Many Aroma Installer app options
(Optional) KevinsFavorites option in Aroma. I'm not sure I'd recommend it due to my tastes. If you're looking for some good common apps tho, it includes: Amazon, AmazonMusic, AndroidAuto, AquaMail, Gmail, GoogleDrive, GoogleKeep, GooglePhoto, Hangouts, IFTTT, Pandora, RootBrowserClassic, TitaniumBackup, Uber, & Wink (If you install these and want to remove them later, use TitaniumBackup (or similiar) to uninstall
Root Features: See Downloads->Recommended Root Zip & say Thanks!
Debloated
De-Knoxed
Decrypted /data/ partition (should be ready for Xposed, but I haven't had a chance to test it yet)
OTAs disabled
Speed & Build Prop Tweaks
Dual speaker option
Ruthless Launcher
Apps
AdAway
AOD Clock Face Themes
CPUSpy
DisableService
Kernel Adiutor
Samsung Video Editor and Trimmer
Xposed Installer
Many more...

Hide "Hurricane" (RCS) icon: Install System UI Tuner by Zach Wander from Play Store ->Open App->StatusBar->Auto Detect->Uncheck com.samsung.rcs Thanks @pshipley73 for the tip! (BTW I didn't implement the VoLTE/IMS fixes out there because there's too much flux right now with Tmobile & RCS - I didn't want to break anything!)
Known Issues:
Visual Voicemail may fail to register, but restart phone and give it a few hours. It works eventually. (Same issue is on stock)
RCS (Rich Communication Services/Chat/Advanced Messaging) texts don't show up in Android Messages, or Textra apps (Same issue is on stock)
Fix: (Use Samsung Messages) - You may be able to call Tmobile to get this feature disabled with your account. Everything they say online doesnt work. If anyone inquires with them or knows a fix, PLEASE let me know!
Regular earpiece doesnt have sound during a WifiCalling call. Fix: Use Speakerphone. My thought is that this is isolated to using the dual-speaker mod. (Can someone please confirm?) (This is NOT an issue during a non-wificalling call.)

Version 4.7: First stable build

My bad! I added the ROM link
Regarding the apps you list: I thought I made some of those options in Aroma, but Titanium Backup (or whatever) can easily remove any you still want to delete. Or you can edit my Aroma script and add in those deletes. I did want the phone to be a "tiny-bit" usable after installing the ROM (play YouTube, open pdf files, etc). Enjoy!
Very Nice!
Hi Kevin, how could I install GameLauncher in this ROM?
I'm very interested in using that app when playing :crying::good::fingers-crossed:

Yes, it is an application that allows you to do several things while you are playing. The GameLauncher includes GameTools, but I can not install it in any way, because I think you need a file or something like that?

Yes, but will not there be some .zip?
I mean, everything is installed at once, because if I install nothing more than the GameLauncher apk, although without the Samsung store, "Galaxy Apps" I can not update nor will the app work correctly .
In itself, I can not use GameLauncher to have installed GameTools (although I would have done the one to install the apk, the GameLauncher app will not recognize me any game), and without the Samsung store, they will not work well.

when you are on the stock with the root then use root browser to save these two files from stock
SamsungAccount_Star, SamsungCloud, under n Priv-app folder, once you run the hybrid ROM using flashfire then go back and restore these two files back to Priv-app folder which will enabled your theme store so you can run your gaming app

If you are using a S7_SM-G930T & have the stock partitions for this model (ie, you didnt flash a different pit), then you dont need to do it. The guide as-is is solid for a stock S7_SM-G930T. Flashing the pit from another ROM of mine wont hurt if you flash on a S7_SM-G930T. I have only tested this ROM on a S7_SM-G930T.

Thank you @zfk110 for jumping in. This ROM really is aiming to be anti-Samsung - I LOVE the hardware but honestly hate all the Sh$t they put on it. And I need wifi-calling. And WE ALL LOVE ROOT. WHY cant we have it!!! ITS OUR PHONE WE BOUGHT DAMMIT! So that's what this ROM is all about. But trying to put it back to how SamDung intented, after my ROM reverts all their shannigans, might actually be easier to just roll with stock Sorry for being blunt.
But I do get it, some apps are actually good. Just PLEASE dont ask for Android pay or Samdung pay!! I do have all the apks, but no where to host them. If you have a little time & initiative, check out this thread I made on how to extract an apk from an "ODIN" file (like TMB-G930TUVU4CRI2.zip from this thread) https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...ide-how-to-extract-samsung-s7-ota-fw-t3862938 . And check out how to deploy this apk to system (not even sure they have to go to system tho) using ADB under Known Fixes for Messages here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s7/development/rom-t3855911 ...or do what @zfk110 said Titanium Backup does have a ton of power to do things like this as well...

Okay, I'll try the backup, but I'll try it with Titanium Backup. And by the way, is there a problem if the screen resolution is not in WQHD?
I have no way to restore the apps with Titanium Backup, I do not load the restorations:crying::crying:

it has those two files, and if you want to go back to stock Touchwiz then install the whole zip using flashfire it will give you stock Touchwiz and theme store with Viper and some good rooted apps or you can just pull those two files from it

Aroma Installer looks bonk if you dont set the resolution all the way up. Once you go through it tho, itll set back to stock which is in the middle. (ie, when guide is finished, resolution will be in the middle)
Just discovered this! I have a G930v and I've been flashing G930u firmware then G930t radio (CP file) and I've been running strong on tmobile (LTE+, wifi txt'ing & calling all work). Anyone have any experience how this ROM compares?
(LOL... you said SamDung. So true some days.)

I installed it with Flasfire, but it has not installed me, I do not know why?
So I installed it with TWRP Recovery, much more effective and comfortable , at this moment I'm going to see if it lets me use the Apps I need (Game Launcher). Thank you!!

Well I do not work the app (Game Launcher) in the Rom of Lanc-City, in the Aroma if it gives you option or has added it, that you can install GameLauncher .
I think something is missing, and I do not know what function.
