My SD Memory Card doesn't mount automatically - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Hey, I am a complete novice and very new member. This HTC vivid happened to be my first android phone. Rooted, unlocked bootloader and flashed recovery mode on it. I just noticed that anytime I restart the phone, it sure will unmount the sd memory card. And before I can access my files on this memory card, I would have to go to storage setting and mount it back manually. It wasn't like this before. I guess the memory card on boot before. I have changed the sd card and its still the same.

Need help!

I have a HTC hero cdma on android 2.1 with the buffed rom & the other day my nephew took my memory card out my phone and formatting it thinking That would make the music save onto his phone (kids these days ) so now I'm stuck with this rom. What files do I need to copy to my SD so I can start flashing to different roms again?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Just add whatever Rom you want to the SD card and flash it. You should still have recovery even after formatting the SD card.
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
It wouldn't be a bad idea to have a copy of your sd card on your computer. But yea as the previous poster said copy a rom onto the root of your sd card amd boot into recovery. Flash like normal.

Having had an 8gb sd card fry in the last month, I can attest to ensuring you have a backup of some sort... (at least the card had a lifetime warranty through Kingston - I didn't have a backup though...)

Under Settings, under Storage there is the option.
Be sure to save ur stuff from that external sd card to ur pc first, then format it.

What ROM are you running?
Ice Cream Hackish 10

Probably something with the ROM. I always had problems with sd cards on cm7 and both the ics builds. Kept losing the card everytime the phone went to sleep.
Now I'm on stock kk4 rom and its still not showing up...

No offense, I am only trying to cover the bases. But is ur external sd card being recognized under Menu/Settings/SD card and phone storage/SD card ?? And if so, is it mounted ??
Also, is the directory path /sdcard/external_sd ?? (u can look at My Files in the app drawer and see)

Update
I kept having this problem on kb2 and jf6. I swapped the card for one that had about 3gb of stuff on it and no more problems. Either my first card is bad, or it needs to have some stuff on it.

Sd card partition

Hello, i'd like to ask is there any way for sgs user to repartition external sd card with phone? I mean an app or something like that?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Put your external-sd on card reader on computer (don't use phone) and do the partition using partition wizard

I need that for my friend HTC desire new rom, it requires 2 partitions and it says not to use WINDOWS for partitioning, idk why it just says that...

Yes you can, I did that
But if you don't transfer some things over, you may very force closes in some apps that need days from the sd card

I see.. meant I won't face any app problem when change the sd card if I transfer all the things over right?
1 more question is I should format my sd card as fat32 or ntfs? Thanks..

No problems if you are transferring everything over
If you leave out some things you think are useless, like I did, you may have problems. I just transferred what I thought was needed and I had no problems
I do Fat32
I use Airdroid

Most SDcards are already formatted to FAT 32. I use Airdroid https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid
Simply copy ALL from your SDcard to computer, put new card in phone then copy back from PC to phone
