Hey guys,
I'm having this issue since I have activated the "Hotword detection from any screen" option in the Google Search: what happens is that when I activate the option related above, the microphone stops working for everything, it just works for "Ok Google" and everything you say to it, but it kills the microphone for everything else. I just realized that I was having that issue when I made a phone call and no one who I called could hear me... then I tried to send a Whatsapp voice message but it didn't recognize any word I said to it... Then I thought it was the "OK Google" option, so I deactivated for any screen and the microphone started to work like always, phone calls, whatsapp voice messages, everything the microphone was needed, it also works only with the "OK Google" from Google Search app activated.
Maybe this could be helpful:
I use the gString app and when I try to tune my instrument and the hotword detection from any screen is activated it says: "Failed to properly initialize the microphone of your device; the tuner will now close. This usually happens, when another misbehaving app is still holding a lock on your microphone, although it has already been backgrounded."
The question is, Does anyone have the same problem?? Is there a solution for that issue? I am using the official OMNIRom nightlies, I have installed the last GAPPS from PA-GAPPS, and of course I have updated them as they required it. I really love that option, it's very helpful for me. I will appreciate any help you could give me.
Thank you guys.
Regards from Colombia
My Moto Voice seems to be playing up. I've only properly noticed it today.
Here's how it goes when the device is sleeping.
Me: What's up Moto X
Voice: beep
Me: Send text to wife
Voice: Ok. What's your message?
Me: hello
Voice: Ok sending. Say or type a pin.
Me: 1234
Screen says 'message sent' but it doesn't send the message!!
Same problem when I ask it to set a timer!
I'm seeing the same problem on a Samsung SG3. There is a recently introduced bug in the recent Search update. This was reported on Android Central. Article here.
I'm glad to see it formally reported, I have been searching the heck out of it and coming up with nothing. I've reinstalled GNL, Search & Hangouts to no avail.
In my case, when using Voice Command for a text, I get a "no SMS app installed" error, despite having Hangouts as my default message app.
I'm hoping they get this sorted quickly. My phone has had this bug for the past week or two.
It's not your brand new phone acting up, it's Search software bugs.
Right I changed my launch phrase to something else and now I can set a timer. but sending a message still not working. I'm running the stock Messaging app. Anyone else experiencing this??
Messaging still not working when using Moto Voice. I've note opened a support case with Motorola. I've made sure Messaging is the default app, used different launch phrases, tried restarting my phone.
Anyone else experiencing this?
My voice command text messaging is back. I recieved a Gmail update the other day, probably serendipity. I tried voice command texting today & it worked! I can also set an alarm via voice command, but not the countdown timer. The alarm is used for all timer sets now. Go figure, maybe server side on Google's part.
Motorola advised me to restart in safe mode and try again but no luck.
Now they're advising me to do a factory reset of the phone but I'm reluctant to do this as I'll lose ALL my settings and apps. Will try and make some time tonight or tomorrow to perform this. Will need to make a list of all my apps and folders I've created.
Still no go? That kind of stinks. They're just telling you the standards, factory reset, etc. Your apps should come flying back as you log back into your Google account after a factory reset. It's just time consuming to factory reset.
Moto Voice just released an update a little while ago. Give that a try.
I've managed to fix the issue after narrowing it down.
It was only not working when texting my wife. It worked for others.
I deleted her number from Contacts app and created it again and now it's working perfectly.
The Moto Voice update didn't make a difference as I tried that. Didn't bother with a factory reset in the end as it just takes too long and pointless.
Hopefully this helps others who get the same issue.
I'm trying to setup up Google voice so you can use the OK Google phrase from any screen but when I try an activate the setting and it prompts me to say OK Google three times it then comes up with an error message saying can't use the microphone. Restart your device (which makes no difference).
Does my phone have an issue or is Moto voice just preventing Google Voice from working?

Moto Voice has to be turned off in order for it to work.
I recently installed Cyanogenmod and everything functions correctly. However, I am unable to place any calls using Google Voice. When I try to make a call, I receive a message stating that Google Voice could not connect. I can make calls without Google Voice still and I can receive calls with Google Voice as well. I searched the posts [and Google] and didn't see anyone with a similar issue. Any insights would be appreciated.

Well....
I read your first sentence first, then realized from the rest of the message, that your first sentence was a complete and utter LIE.
1) Try wipe.
2) If that doesn't work, try FACTORY SYSIMAGE.
Hi guys,
I've a rooted phone and everything works fine and awesome until recently I had some problems with my phone one of them is with Kik app. It always shows an error when I try to video call anyone saying something about network though my network has nothing to do with it also I can't see the icon of "Voice Recording" available to record voices though I can receive them.
I re-enabled permissions and reinstalled Kik, but it's still the same.
Anyone can help me here?
