Hello!
I've successfully rooted my phone, and have signed on with T-Mobile. However, while calling and SMS works fine, MMS and data don't work at all! I've googled around and the consensus seems to be that the Verizon software is the issue.
So, I've downloaded CloudyStock, but am totally ignorant as to how I should proceed. I've looked through the forums over there, but can't find a step by step. Could anyone help me out? I've downloaded FreeGee and QuickBoot if that helps.
If you've got a recovery, do a nandroid to begin with. Then try installing your carriers baseband http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476

Do I need to install a custom recovery? I haven't done anything beyond rooting. This is a brave new world for me, thank you for your patience!

Yes, look for the thread containing the AutoRec app recovery installation. It will put twrp 2.7.0.0 on. DO NOT UP-GRADE recovery until 2.7.1.1 is out. Twrp 2.7.1.0 has some really nasty bugs. Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715496 the easiest way without a computer.

Thank you! I'll download that and see if I can make sense of that other article. It's fairly tech-heavy, I'm a little about it.
Flashing a ROM is easy via recovery. I personally flash any new ROM with an otg usb drive. Once recovery is installed, hit install button then directory/path/to/your/ROM.zip then swipe to flash. Its actually easy, and assuming all your software is correct, should boot right in.

AutoRec installed, the CloudyStock ROM went off seamlessly...but now I keep getting a popup saying "com.android.phone has stopped" in addition to contacts and android.process.acore and they will not go away. Hopefully this =/= bricking the phone? Is there something I can do?

No way is it bricked. For that, you would need cloudys support/thread. I've seen a thread pertaining to that but can't recall the specifics. Your not a bother, but I typically try to stay away from ROMs that have multiple issues mainly because my time is limited for trouble shooting. I found xdabbebs modified stock ROM ideal for a daily driver with Dori's kernel and g2 tweaks the most stable and dependable. I have yet to try cloudys mainly because of the issues of other users. I think your main issue here is having Verizon software on a T-mobel network. Your will probably have to flash t-mob KDZ files in order to correct your problems. I would think a mobile carrier would do this for you when you signed on idk. in the cloudystock OP post, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50630975 his link to basebands your are going from a vs980 to a d802 yes? Download appropriate file and install via LG flash tool. Hope this helps, let me know if you get this resolved. Just out of curiosity, in settings/about phone/ software, what does it say about your baseband?

I flashed the VS980 version on, which I assumed was the correct one...should I try the D802 instead? That might be where I went wrong.
Baseband is 24A-M8974A-AAAANAZM-2.0.20046.
I know this is asking a lot, but if anyone is interested/feels like donating their time, I'd be extremely happy to host a Skype call to figure it out: Skype name is grandpa_faust
I think reading between 2 different forums is getting me messed up. What I had heard was that CloudyStock is "THE BEST" ROM for it, I just want simple functionality from my phone on T-Mobile (with wifi calling and wireless charging, hopefully!) Thank you for being supportive so far, it's a lot to take in!

Hi there grandpa_faust. I was in a similar situation as you in terms of wanting to use your Verizon LG G2 with T-Mobile service. I purchased a Verizon LG G2 yesterday. I rooted and installed recovery but kept it stock. I had planned to use the phone with T-Mobile service. After I entered the correct APN settings the phone would not even connect at H+ speeds. I think it was closer to 2G speed, but I knew that it should connect at a higher speed since my Nexus 5 reached LTE speeds with the same SIM card. I installed CloudyStock 2.2 choosing the Verizon variant in the Aroma installer. With the network mode in Global and with the correct APN settings the phone seems to be connected at LTE speeds. I tested the phone while I was out and about today and the areas where I had LTE with my Nexus 5 were connecting at the same speeds with the LG G2.
Your current baseband is the same one that I have right now. I'm not sure where you are at this point. If you are rooted and have recovery then you are almost there if your goal is to install a custom ROM. I'm sure there are others on this awesome forum who will chime in as well in case your problems are more involved.
Regards.

Ok, Emmitt! SO, data settings had defaulted to MetroPCS, now that I changed it to TMobile IPv6 the data works fine! However, the error message from before (android.process.acore, contacts) are still there and I can't use the phone or contacts. Should I just switch to a different ROM? Skype is still open for any takers
The solution:
Settings –> Applications –> Manage Applications –> All (button on the top that lets you see all applications) –> scroll down to “Contacts Storage” –> Click on “Clear Data” Then restart

did you do a full wipe in recovery prior to flashing the zip? Most installer scripts do this but if it's not done (otherwise known as a dirty flash) might be fragmented software causing conflicts.

Factory reset did it! Sometimes I still get a message "SIM detected, switching to global mode" or the network goes out entirely for 2-3min, but overall the phone, data and sms work just fine!
I'm going to try and figure out wifi calling, then I'll be golden. Thank you all so so much for your comments and support, I wish I could throw gold at you! Cheers.

The new problem is, I flashed a D801 kernel by accident and now it's in bootloop. I can sometimes get it to recognise the drivers and I can consistently get into download mode, but neither KDZ or TOT pushing has worked. :/

Can you get into recovery? Power vol- button combo? If so just flash correct kernel version n good to go. It will tell you factory hard reset but it won't. That's part of the Loki patch work around. Power 3 times then recovery menu will pop up.

The OTA update to Froyo seems to have bricked my (Sprint) Sanyo Zio.
I can only get to fastboot - no regular boot whatsoever.
Factory reset does not help. "Modem Download Mode" does not help.
I'm thinking that, from fastboot, I can just re-flash the original image, right?
Does anyone have this image?
We'll that depends on which image is borked really.
I think you'd be better off taking your phone into sprint and having them fix it.

Sadness
Well, my carrier is actually Credo Mobile, not Sprint, although they use Sprint hardware and network connections.
I called them and it didn't seem promising. They are supposed to call me back tomorrow - on what phone I'm not sure.
I'm still really hoping that somebody here has the image files for me to flash. I can't believe they aren't provided by the manufacturer or the carrier or somebody.
You might be out of luck. If you know anything about how to use Modem Download Mode. I'm sure you could switch to CricKet and they could do the flash in store.

Modem Download Mode does nothing on Credo / Sprint
I tried Modem download mode. The progress bar makes its way up to 100, then the phone reboots with the same problem.
My assumption is that this mode just doesn't do anything on Sprint.

There is a sprint zio forum here at xda and perhaps there is a dumped 2.1 stock rom available or you could Google for one.
I'm quite sure that there are tools available on the net to reflash to 2.1.

Thanks! can I manually push the system.img file through fastboot? My phone turns on and boots up but everything is blank with a dim light.
You should be able to yes, but to avoid system errors I would use cwm to restore.
Just unzip the file to "/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/" and choose restore from cwm.

Once your carrier unlocked, its permanent.
Use Motochopper to root...no one here feels like dealing with the Samba Sh!t again...
Then use this to unlock the bootloader
There are a few ways to install recovery -- See my HOW TO for the manual way, there's the one-click method, and using Rom Toolbox and installing the Photon Q CWM. All are easy and can be found in the first pages of our forums. The 2nd two are easier, but its really worth it to learn the manual way.

Maybe. Are you on a custom rom, not using ATT 4.1.1? Need more info. List rom\fastboot and any mods you might be using.
Try connecting to WiFi and see if your apps can connect. After that, try wiping cache, dalvik cache and see if that helps. If after trying both of those and you still have no connection, its likely be a bad rom install.
You didn't flash MR or Bell 4.1.2 over AT&T 4.1.1 and not factory reset did you? Or restore AT&T Settings.apk app data with Titanium Backup from on a diferent rom? Doing both of those could cause errors like you're having.

Sorry for the late reply, but no this is stock AT&T and all the bloatware is installed. I figured it out. I had to change the APN to fast.T-Mobile.com and my internet is working now. As for putting in roms. I heard 4.2.2 will remove LTE is this true?
EDIT:My friend is giving me **** because I paid 250 for this unlocked ATRIX HD. For an extra 60 dollars more I could have bought the Nexus 4 and more development support he says plus its a Quad Core. At the time I had no idea about the dev support for this device and he was right. There are barely any support for this device. I love the PA roms and PacMan roms to be ported over to this device. But no roms from them at all. My battery life sucks because of all the bloatware, but so far I am liking this phone a lot. I'm going to be patient and wait.
Is there a method to root the Verizon LG G2 (VS980) on the stock OTA Kit Kat 4.4.2 build yet?

As far as that goes, how is installing the LG G2 unified drivers supposed to go? I found the download link for them in the main 200 page thread for this. Extracted the zip, but none of the .exe files do anything when run. Is that normal or is something wrong? For example I tried running InstallUSB64.exe but absolutely nothing happens.
Another more recent post on like page 185 of the thread had another download link, but that just leads to a file called "LG" with no extension and it doesn't appear to be a .zip

No you will need to root and then install custom recovery. Depending on what you are on. If you are on kitkat you can use autorec, and anything earlier you can use flashify.

I am not sure about the question but I know when you root this phone there is a trip where it will show in the lg menu that it is rooted. In order to get rid of that you will have to return to stock. I'm having a hell of a time trying to get this thing to root. I followed all of the instructions for installing the LG device drivers and when I go to run the IOroot25 it flashes really quickly and then goes away. Do I need to remove any other drives I might have on my computer in order to get it to work? Any other ideas?

Once it boots into recovery, did you scroll down and select "install from adb"?

Yeah, I had everything setup correctly and it didn't work. Tried the same exact thing on another computer and it worked flawlessly. Thanks though!

Im having problems rooting it as well. I installed the latest drivers 1.14 I believe, and when trying to root it using ioroot25 it says downgrade to a previous version.
I do have it on Ethernet mode, and it reboots it into recovery, but that's it. I select apply update from adb but again, on ioroot it does nothing after the suggestion to downgrade.
any suggestions?
Make sure your phone is setup. Debugging mode is set. Unknown sources is set. Phone is on airplane mode. Plug into computer and start ioroot25 and follow steps

Guys just use towelroot to root. You install an app and push a button.

My phone works with LTE data through multiple ROMs however anything that relies on CDMA (voice/text/3G) will not work. It seems to have happened right after I flashed the SaberMod+ Unofficial CM12 on the 02/01 nightly. Has anyone experienced this and fixed the problem. Let me know if you need any extra details.

it sounds like your unit is on LTE only which voice and all that great stuff don't work on.
Use the phone app and dial *#*#4636#*#*
Then select phone information
Then make sure you are on LTE/CDMA auto (PRL) if this doesn't work either set it to LTE/GSM/CDMA Auto (PRL)
report back with what yours is on.
You could also manually flash the stock android image to see if everything works as it should

Funny thing. I'm on LTE/CDMA (auto). Any time I try to set it to just CDMA, it bounces back to LTE/CDMA. I can't set 3G or 1x as an option under Mobile Networks either.
Also doesn't work when I set it to LTE/GSM/CDMA.

That is very weird, I personally would do a full backup then flash the factory images from google and see if your issue goes away. Have you tried using the update profile/update prl under mobile settings?

I've tried using a 'Stock' ROM to force provision with no luck. I haven't been able to completely revert back to stock yet. I'll report after I've tried this. PRL Update does nothing to help unfortunately.

Yea, I would use the actual images from googles website to go back to stock, rather than those zips in the android development forum.

Do you recommend against using Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit to flash stock or should that work fine?

I personally do not recommend toolkits, I learned to use fastboot, but not everyone wants to do this. The problem with toolkits is if something goes wrong youll end up stuck unless you know how to do the commands. Plenty have used it here to flash stock, but YMMV.
If you have a computer with ADB already setup and don't mind getting dirty, go the manual route and flash it via fastboot. If you don't have a computer setup already you could try wugs.
Have you tried the *#*#72786#*#* code?

You may need to be on a stock ROM for it to work. A menu should open and you select reset. It reprovisions your data service. No personal data is lost.

Whelp, I flashed to complete stock and got my CDMA back. Now to try what killed it again to see if it's consistent, since I know how to fix it now. I really like the SaberMod+ CM12. It was a pity what happened before.
Hopefully this'll be helpful for anyone who gets stuck in a similar situation.
Hey guys I have a Moto bought Nexus 6, running on T-Mobile network Sim card and all. Currently the 6 is on 5.0.1 and has been asking me to bump up to 5.1. My phone is stock and rooted. As we all know I can't use the OTA as a result.
I'm here bugging you all because I know there are different builds for the Nexus 6, and they seem carrier specific. So I went and hunted down an M build which supposedly is for Tmo, as we have some specific tweaking.
I downloaded the LMY47M build and I am currently on the LRX22C 5.0.1 build. What I would like to know is it okay for me to go into TWRP and flash the download? Like the way a person would flash a nightly of CM? Is it the same process? If not what do I gotta do?
(On a bus ride so would be nice to have it update while I'm still riding)

If the "download" is an OTA, it cannot be flashed from a custom recovery. ...and it will still fail because you're rooted.
Nope I downloaded online and it's sitting in a download folder now

Let me rephrase, if the file you have downloaded is the same file you would get as an ota, then what i said before.
Very likely it's the same but I can't say for sure.,. So where does that leave me in terms of options?

I don't know much about this "M" build and what version it is supposed to flash from. What I do know is there is no full factory image available.
Of everything else is stock on your phone (Including radio) I think the best action would be:
- download the factory image for the version you are on now.
- extract it and fastboot flash the stock recovery and system.img
- do NOT lock your bootloader
Then you should be able to accept the ota or side load it from stock recovery.
Mmm will try this when I get home thanks! Will be back to update Folks!
Also, will flashing the stock image and recovery wipe any of my data?

Not if you extract it an flash only the system.img
Its flashing the userdata image that wipes data
Yes. I would like to know how to do this also. Is there a difference in flashing the D or E version of 5.1 and then flashing a custom ROM that is built from T-Mobile's update?
Or is there carrier specifics in the different Factory Images?
downloading the img right now, when i get back I will make a little step by step for anyone else curious

In my mind in its the radio. you want the radio that comes with the T Mobile version. (if you are on t-mobile obviously) what you flash on top of it for system doesn't matter as long as it supports the radio and is version 5 .1. And as long as what you're flashing doesn't include the radio you are good to go.
So for me as long as I keep the E radio for Verizon I can flash D through M it kind of doesn't matter.

Thanks for your replies here. I'm in the same boat as the OP, and have one follow-up question to this thread, if you or anyone could answer --
After doing the steps you mentioned previously -- specifically sideloading/accepting the OTA update, will the bootloader remain unlocked? I'd like to re-root afterwards and keep the user data, though I was under the impression it would actually re-lock the bootloader.
Thanks for any info!

Did you ever get this going? I know I procrastinated a bit due to the "unknowns", but finally made it happen (bug off, TMo "5.1 Available" notification!). I ran into a lot of oddities between my phone and computer (running Windows 7) like the phone being an unrecognized device when working with adb sideloads... I ultimately opened the Device Manager and forced the composite ADB driver through for each instance. For me, the rough flow was, starting out with stock but unlocked and rooted,
* flashed stock LRX22C system and recovery images
* used adb to sideload the T-Mobile LMY47M official update
* flashed TWRP
* used adb to sideload SuperSU
* and of course, cleared the dalvik/cache and rebooted
All data in-tact, and my LEDs are still functional (the LEDs are actually the key reason I have it rooted right now... it's insanely stupid that Google blocks these built-in LEDs from being used by those that want them!).
Anyways, if you run into any of those issues, happy to help!

Ah yeah I did actually, and I like you, had problems getting the phone recognized with the ADB, also windows 7, which prevented me from slide loading like I wanted to, but nevertheless got all the updates pushed through thnx though!
