hi all ... am facing a BIG problem ... was using a tm G1 from Europe (RC7) version which i bought from the local market .. it was probably used by someone in UK but now its here and we could use it with any local sim. ...
i tried to gain root access to the phone by following instructions from the site
http://coolpstuts.blogspot.com/2009/07/how-to-mod-root-jailbreak-your-g1.html
now once the phone restarted after the innitial updation the phone naturally wanted me to sign into my google account (which im assuming is the regular gmail account) but all the access points are from TMobile operators and even if i try to change the access points to the ones of my local carrier it wont connect... as if there is no internet connection.
now the situation is that iam stuck while everytime i restart the phone it asks me to signin to my gmail account and i cant do that since i have a different operator. I need to UnLock the phone to other operators i believe so that it can read my SIM ....
Please HELP !!!
so do you have root access or not? if you do have root access then you can either flash a rom that is ADP based which will allow you to skip the initial setup or, go to this thread and
download file from the second post
remove .zip extension
place file on the root of you sdcard (the upmost folder)
boot into recovery (home and power)
go to the recovery console
press enter
type mount /system
then type mount /sdcard
then type cp /sdcard/apns-conf.xml /system/etc if the cp command will not work substitute it with mv
finally type reboot
if this method doesn't work then just flash an ADP based rom.
if you do not have root then look at this thread.

If you insert a non-T-Mobile SIM into a locked G1, it will present a lock screen before it shows anything else. So I am guessing your G1 is already unlocked? You just need to press menu at the Google sign-in screen and enter a new APN. Remember to open the menu and tap save when you are done entering the APN info.

You only have to sign in to Gmail once after the initial flashing of the rom. Now, you phone HAS to be unlocked in order for you to even get to the sign-in screen with non-T-mobile SIM. Sounds like all you need is APN Settings from your provider. Once you have those, hit menu button at the sign in screen and put them in. You should be good to go.
Good luck, let us know how it turns out.
wow guyz it worked.... cant thank you much !! i just threw in the correct settings and it went all good
my current situation is that i added "DREAIMG.NBH" and updated the phone with the file. ..
the second portion of the update was to reboot and than do the telnet thingy which i didnt do as of the moment .... this i was doing to gain ROOT access to the phone ... do you think that i should complete the TELNET portion of the update as well and than continue with anything or is there any way to upgrade to cupcake 1.5 (my ultimate goal) without gaining the root access ?

If you just want to update to 1.5 without gaining root, find a T-Mo EU update.zip file and run it in the recovery.
although the phone is unlocked (as per the experience) but if (lets say) i do update the phone to 1.5 without the root gain ... will it lock the phone again or something (asking me to enter only T-Mob SIM only) ??

No, there is probably no way to re-simlock a phone once it has been unlocked. Remember that the state of the simlock is stored internally in the baseband processor and is not affected at all by what you do on the main processor or in the accessible memory spaces.
thanks alot jashsu and others ... will bug u guyz laterz for other stuff ...
hello I just purchased a G1 t-mobile off ebay and it came with firmware RC37 working fine, then i had the brilliant idea to put a custom firmware on it , so i downgraded it to RC7 - uk but now im stuck on the activation screen and guess what..i dont have a data plan on t-mobile and no other sim card that supports 3G/internet connection. so I read somewhere that 'donut' lets you bypass the activation screen by touching the screen from top left all the way to the bottom left so I upgraded the firmware to donut 1.6 but i tried all of the possible combinations to bypass the screen and it didnt work. what do you think I should do?I tried connecting the phone with the pc using ADB but i stumbled uppon the drivers problems. its the first time a phone is giving me so much trouble for such a simple task, if anyone knows any simple way to bypass the screen please help me out, any kind of feedback will be highly appreciated. thanks

If you have a friend that has tmobile with data service, pop his sim card in, activate it, then switch back to your own. Otherwise you'd have to downgrade and use the adb shell command to get wifi inorder to activate it.
I dont know anyone with a t-mobile sim, I can use a 3 Phone/sim though that has internet access, any chance to do it through that? I tried using the adb method, but i get stuck on the drivers issue, and since i upgraded to donut i get the 'device is not recognized' error. when i try to put the custom drivers that are issued in the tutorials it wont accept them.
Edit - // - I managed to make it work with ADB flashed and installed cyanogen mod.
I managed to connect the phone with ADB. when I type adb devices in cmd prompt i get:
C:\>adb devices
List of devices attached
HT95NKV02235 device
then i type adb shell and the command to enable the wifi but all i get is this:
$ am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android.settings/.Settings
am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android.settings/.Settings
Starting: Intent { action=android.intent.action.MAIN comp={com.android.settings/
com.android.settings.Settings} }
Warning: Activity not started, its current task has been brought to the front
Cheers,
Here is my problem. I ran an RUU for my HTC One Sprint and It was successful. It was m7wls_3_04_651_2_RUU. After the phone starts it asks me about about a password that I didn't set up. I tried every method in these forums but without any improvements. However, when I install a rom that isn't SENSE base, it never asks me about any thing.
Tips:
The phone is locked to sprint.
The phone is rooted.
The phone is boot-loader unlocked.
Please help.....
What type of password lock? And what have you tried that didn't work? Also, isn't there a different forum for Sprint devices?
I don't know what type of lock is that. I tried to delete the gesture key although I didn't set up a gesture before and I tried deleting the password from the recovery mode as well. I am sorry I thought this forum was for all problems.
please see the pictures I uploaded.
I am on 6.1 and I went to reset my phone it is locked I havent done any modding to it. it went into recovery and said erasing for about 10 minutes so I went to restart the phone and now it says i need a password to start it. But I never had a password. Any way to get this thing back up and running. It is oem locked
After a reset you need to enter the password for the Google account you used on the phone prior to the reset. This is to verify that it's your phone...
At some point a password was set. The only way you would be prompted to enter a password is if you had set one at some point in the past by setting up a Google account.
You need to know that password, as it's the only way to get back into the device. If you don't know it for whatever reason, you're screwed.
Hello all,
I had a le 2 which i did a factory reset and gave to my friend long ago. Due to reason that phone couldnt connect to server at that time, I did the reset at boot stage. Everything was fine until yesterday that my friend told me phone has popped up with a message saying: “please make sure the internet access well and input the last leeco account and password. If the ID log in successfully, the phone will boot right. This is Leeco’s privacy policy as system detected that you may have done a factory recovery or system update at boot stage”
I can give him the leeco id and password but, Now wifi access is blocked and phone is not even charging!
What is the solution to this?? Even if we wanted to enter password, phone has blocked us from accessing the internet. How can it verify the password?!
This is very stupid and strange...
Anyone?!
Help will be appreciated
