[Q] Quick Question about MB886 - Motorola Atrix HD

Hello Everyone,
I have a Motorola Atrix HD MB886 and have been successful at unlocking the bootloader. I want to upgrde the rom from 4.1 to 4.4. Every article that I have found says start in restore mode and gives directions on what to do. Well the first 3 steps are there with no problem but when it says to "Wipe Dalvik cache" and to "Install zip from SD card". Those features are not there. I do have a feature that says install from external SD card but it does not see the zip file. So I have taken another approach. I have installed an app called Rom Customizer and it does see the package and again it informs me it need to boot in recovery mode. The phone just sits there and displays the android logo with the red triangle but never does anything then reboots as normal without applying any changes. What am I doing wrong? I will admit I am new to this and this is my other phone. When the logo appears are my supposed to do something? If I do go into the recovery mode I still only have the same options as before so am I leaving something out? Any help will be appreciated and thanks in advance....

"fastboot devices"
"fastboot flash recovery "image file""

please help me on this one
hope im not totaly f-ed
//Duvel
sorry if there are typo's im dutch
did you put the phone into fastboot mode, before you tried the fastboot command? and second, why are you flashing the recovery image? that won't fix you phone
i think you should try a factory reset, either by flashing your rom again or by selecting some option. what rom do you have installed? stock? if not, which and which recovery image do you have installed? there is an option in amon_ra's image do factory reset. i never used the stock recovery, but there should be an option to wipe there as well. anybody?
ps: please stop using fastboot and adb commands, if you are don't know what you are doing, before you brick your phone.
i used the following guide to root
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636795
i just stoped at the part where the sence ui was installed,
yes i put my phone into fastboot mode but again i think the problem is that i cant enable USB Debugging
ok i just recovered my phone with the following image
"CyanogenMOD version : recovery-RA-nexus-v1.7.0-cyan.img"
how ever im still getting unexpected application stops,
com.android.setupwizard
com.android.bluetooth
com.android.callender
com.android.mms
any idea on how to restore them ?
maybe its usefull to know i tried to use the morph "BlackMatteMorph"
from the following thread "forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654858"
//Duvel
got it fixed now
thanks alot FloOGB some of your pointers realy helped me out,
i fixed it by installing the drivers provided by th3fallen
"forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=613217"
after that i followed the following steps got from from a post of Jeremy Sikora
"forum.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-one-roms-hacks/7366-how-install-custom-roms-your-nexus-one.html"
im sure the same topic is on XDA somewhere, this was just the first website i got directed to by google
1.) With your device powered off hold down on the volume down rocker while pressing the power button. From there select "recovery".
2.) Once in recovery select backup/restore and choose Nand backup.
When that is completed you now have a backup image saved on your SD card in case you ever need to go back to the normal ROM.
3.) Now from the recovery menu select Wipe and then Wipe data/factory reset.
4.) Once the wipe is completed select Flash zip from sdcard to select the ROM you wish to install.
5.) Once the flashing process is completed simply reboot and enjoy your freshly flashed Nexus One!
i installed the rom: Cyanogenmod For Nexus One V5.0.6
"forum.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?/topic/150-cyanogenmod-for-nexus-one-v506-04152010/?"
sorry that you arent able to click the links im providing, im new to the forum and im not allowed to make direct links yet.
so thanks again FloOGB.

you're welcom, no problem
even if i didn't say anything that useful i think i would have never thought about drivers since i'm using only linux and it's sort of plug and flash here.

How do I install a custom rom on my Droid 1?

I have a rooted droid 1 and I want to install cyanogenmod 7.0.3. I got rom manager the free edition and I flashed clockworkrecovery. When I tried to install the rom from sd card, it just rebooted and went to a triangle with an ! and that's all. I waited, but nothing happened, so I did a battery pull and rebooted my droid. I flashed clockwork again, because a friend told me it probably didn't flash properly. I got the success notice again. Then I tried again, but this time my phone just rebooted. What am I doing wrong
That's really weird... I just put that ROM on my D1 and it installed perfectly, even though it took 3 tries. I followed a guide on how to install it using ROM Manager (since it was my first time). Since I am a noob here at XDA, it won't let me post a link to the website, but I'll copy and paste the tips for you.
Problem During Flashing?
If after the "Reboot and Install" step, you immediately get a picture of Android with a big exclamation point, most likely it means the ROM image you downloaded was not cryptographically signed by the developer (which happens if they were in a hurry to release or simply don’t use encryption).
That’s OK – you can fix this by:
clicking the exclamation point screen, which goes to the ClockworkMod recovery menu or simply rebooting into recovery manually (that’s one of the options in the ROM Manager). Alternatively, you can boot into recovery by holding Power and Home buttons together while powering up your phone
selecting the option that says "install zip from sdcard"
toggling the "toggle signature verification" option to turn the verification off (it should say "Signature Check: Disabled")
giving flashing another try by selecting "choose zip from sdcard" and selecting the right ROM, just like before.
This is on the Android Police forums posted by Artem Russakovskii. I don't take credit for this.
Goodluck!!!
Adam
Thanks.
Anyways, I had to flash the latest version of clockwork. Then it worked
Sweet! Well I welcome you to the wonderful world of custom ROMs then.

[Q] Problem with paranoidandroid

Hello,
first of all sorry for my bad english. I have a problem with my phone and really need your help.
So, what happened:
yesterday I installed baseband 521 V20s and Django Manouche custom rom. I didn't like the rom very much so I decided to move on an another rom. I chose ParanoidAndroid 11. I installed it from CWM, like it should be installed, but then I got a problem. The phone stucked on boot animation (image of paranoid android in the middle of the screen and little androids falling down like raindrops). And nothing happened for 5-6 minutes so I pulled out the battery and turn on again a phone. Then I got message that goes something like this: "optimizing applications" and when it finnished, I over again got boot animation and nothing happened. I waited for 10 minutes, and then finally the boot animation stopped and screen went in black. It respond to touch (soft keys got light when I touch phone), but black screen doesn't disapere.
So, what to do? I didnt do nandroid backup, I erased Django rom from internal sd card so I cannot flash back to it via CWM. The PC doesn't recognize the phone any more so I can't put new rom to internal sd card. I did, however, manage to put the rom to external SD card, but in CWM recovery, it says that "Can't mount sd card".
What should I do??
I hope that you understand my description of problem and that you can help me.
Easiest way is to boot into CWM. Under "Mounts and Storage" choose "Mount USB Storage". You should be able to copy a new ROM to the internal SDCard from your computer.
If that does not work, search this forum for guides on how to use "Smartflash" or "NVflash".

Reflash ParanoidAndroid after a full wipe (cache, system, data, dalvikcache) without flash other kernel or gapps. Then reboot it should work

When I do that in CWM, Windows ask me to format card. What should I do?
@Gjot
Unfortunately, that didn't help me.

Try a factory reset in CWM. (Or wipe /data and /cache).
This should hopefully fix your boot loop.
And when windows asks you to format the card then do it.
Could be that it got corrupted (which would be the reason why CWM can't mount it).
You will loose all data on it, but it looks lost, anyways.

What options should I choose? What "File system", "Allocation unit size"? If I use default options (Fat and default allocation size) Windows pops up this message: "Windows was unable to complete format."
Should I try with another sd card?
Anyway, I did some research and find out that I could use adb to push rom to the phone. But, I stuck there also. I finally found out how to open adb (and even what is it) but when I use command "adb devices" to test if it works, I got "List of devices attached" and nothing else
I know that problem is in drivers, but I dont know how to resolve it.
I finally solved it.
Thanks to PaulOBrien and NVflash.
Now I'm back to froyo and have unrooted device but it works!!!!

[Q] Update to 4.2.2 failed. Phone not booting!!!

Hi all,
Last night, i rooted by N7000 through PhilZ-cwm6-DDLSC-ODD-5.08.5-signed and was successful in doing that.
Later i wanted to update my device to 4.2.2. So i downloaded cm-10.1-20130727-NIGHTLY-n7000.zip file and kept in my external SD card.
Then in recovery mode,i wipe the factory data. There was option wipe data or wipe to install new ROM. I selected the latter one. Wipe for installing new om was successful. Then i went to update zip.file option. But since the file was in external sd card, it was not detected and i was not able to select the file. Then i rebooted the phone but only 'Samsung galaxy N7000' screen was coming and nothing was happening.
I rebooted my phone many times but same screen was coming. Then in morning i went in advance options. I selected Recovery Bootloader. Downloading screen was coming and nothing was happening. Then i switched my off and trying to start in recovery mode but its not starting.
I thin i have no checked USB debugging.
Kindly help soon as i am helpless without phone. Your early response will be highly appreciated.
With the option "install new Rom" you removed your old Rom from your device. So it is only logical that your device won't boot into it.
Next time follow the installation instructions given in the CM-thread exactly.
And of course you can choose a zip from external sd card in CWM. So take a look again.
Best thing to do for you: boot into download mode, install a stock Rom with PC Odin and use it without changing things.
Hey Thanks for the help. But now i am facing new problem.
I flashed my phone using odin with stock rom.
Later i rooted with PhilZ-cwm6-DDLSC-ODD-5.08.5-signed and then updated it with cm-10.1-20130727-NIGHTLY-n7000.
This time i was successful. My phone was updated to 4.2.2.
Then i used it for some time and switched it off for removing the external SD card. After that i tried to switch on my phone, its not working.
Nothing is appearing on screen. I charged it and then tried to switch it on but nothing is coming on screen.
When i try to switch on my phone in Recovery mode or in download mode a thin line on the screen appears and then disappears and then nothing comes on screen.
Help please. Last suggestion worked.Kindly advise

Bricked my myphone uno using Android One Toolkit

After having issues with the low 4GB memory of the myphone uno, i decided to try rooting the phone using some online instructions using Android One Toolkit. I ended up bricking it. Now when i turn on the phone, its stuck with the 4 animated circles.
I am a noob when it comes to android phones, but i do know how to install windows xp, vista, 7. I have used online instructions to clone my pc HD using clonezilla. I believe that if someone were kind enough to give step by step instructions on what files to download(like the original "OS" / "image") and where to get them. And how to use the software, i can get my myphone uno back to working order. So please anyone out there, can you help?

i followed(or tried to) the instructions from the site of androidmtk with topic
"how to root android one devices easily"
sorry but system will not let me paste the actual link.
Process involved the use of android one toolkit.
and now my phone no longer boots. Stuck with those 4 animated circles. I have to remove the battery to get out of that screen. But no matter what i did, isn't there a way to just install android? Like installing windows on a blank hard drive? Start from scratch? Loss of data is not a factor

im sorry but i dont know what "recovery" is. The phone is also no longer turning on so i cant get that info. But im ok with trying kitkat and if the flashing of the ROM works, at least ill have a working phone. And go from there and experiment some more to get the most out of the device.
When your phone is switched off. ....press the power and volume+ button at the same time and hold it till you see a menu .....then navigate to recovery as the menu instructs ....then tell me what you see

First download a custom kernel zip (recommend thunderzap 5.1)
Then SuperSU 2.54 zip
Move this to files to your phones sd card
And again go to the menu which I told you during recovery (power and volume+ buttons at same time holding) then navigate to fastboot and enter ....you will se fastboot mode in the last line of the menu .
Now connect your phone to pc and open toolkit and press root.
You will see philz recovery loaded on your phone (philz recovery written on the top).
Then tap on wipe option and then factory reset and confirm it.
After factory resetting tap on install zip and select thunderzap zip
After successful installation of thunderzap select SuperSU zip and after installation of super su ...reboot now .......it will take 10 -15 mins......

i take it that this step Then tap on wipe option and then factory reset and confirm it. fixed the bricking of the phone
and these steps After factory resetting tap on install zip and select thunderzap zip
After successful installation of thunderzap select SuperSU zip and after installation of super su ...reboot now .......it will take 10 -15 mins......
rooted the phone right?
One other thing is, whenever theres a system update, during the rebooting it does an error and i have to remove battery to restart the phone. Does rooting the phone cause updates not to work?

You took a bit ....if you have rebooted your phone after just factory reset .....you may have got bootloop again.....(stuck on boot animation).
About your second problem ....
When the error happens in between these steps of installation .......you tap on reboot and install and your phone goes to recovery and after successful installation your reboots .
What's the error ??
Yeah rooting your phone changes system which causes problem while installation of the original update...??
