[Q] Anyone succesfully reverted back to 4.2.2? - LG G Flex

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644083
according to that, you can revert to stock. im assuming 4.2.2? i want to go back to use the app that gives you recovery. (which is not yet available for kitkat) to use cm11
so question is, can i use that method to go back to 4.2.2? or would it take me to 4.4.4? my phone is not bricked. just stock 4.4.2
helppp. thankssss.

As long as you download the correct TOT file, that is the correct procedure that I have used on my at&t d950.

Remember to do a full wipe, because the applications from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2 they will not be worked and the phone will have a bootloop

Will this work if I'm on stock 4.4.2 and want to downgrade to 4.2.2?
Forgot to add I'm not rooted sorry

Cant get into Download Mode
I rooted my G-Flex and then took the update by unintentionally, the phone started freezing so i did a factory reset. Now i have no mobile data. So im trying to downgrade but i cant get into Download mode using the Volume up plug in method, any help?

I've used the d959 kdz and this method. Its a *****. Too me whole weekend to get it to work.

Damn I wanted to try the MIUI Rom but don't want the hassle. I'm guess this is the only way?

I don't think he has a d959 version of the miui yet. They are so close to getting cm11 ready for a beta. Radio is now working just gotta get the kernel to run stable. But as fast as they are coming along I wouldn't be surprised if its ready by the weekend.

Gerett needs the 4.2 files and MIUI should work for the d959. I'm following the two Rom threads by the min. lol

That's my fault. He asked for them a couple weeks ago and I got sidetracked with my son and work has been hell. But thanks for reminding me. I just sent him what he needed.

Tested the first d959 miui. No go as of right now. Boots but no screen. Just black screen. Still a little more work but I'm sure soon.

haven't had MIUI on any phone since I had my Note 2, and kinda miss it!
Gerret had a sweet miui rom on that phone, so I know how great it would be if it works out the Flex..

I was having the same issue and i read a post in another forum here on xda (can't remember which one or i would link you to it) that used QPST force the phone into download mode. I also was unable to get it into download mode using adb. At any rate, it was fairly simple to do and i have done it multiple times since then. Just Google a working download of QPST, install it, and then follow the instructions below.
1) make sure that you're port settings I the hidden menu on your phone are set too diag mode. Data can be enabled for them as well, but diag is a must.
2) set the dmapp usage setting to ON in the hidden menu as well. The hidden menu is accessed by dialing 3845#*XXX# in the dialer where XXX is replaced by the three digits of your model number e.g. for a T-Mobile G Flex (D959) it would be 3845#*959#.
3) connect the phone to the computer you installed QPST on and wait for the proper drives to install.
4) open QPST configuration and click "add new port". Select the lg diagnostics port and then click the start services menu tab.
5) start the Software Download service and then make sure that you're phone was properly recognized by the service.
6) click the multi-image tab and set your window to look as the photo below.
7) once the window looks like the photo, click the start button and then hit the abort button as soon as possible so as to not actually do anything other than just reset the phone.
8) if all goes as it's supposed to, your phone should have been reset into download mode. I hope this helped.

What did i do? Did i screw up my phone for good? Trying to open usb bp core mode!

Okay well I. Still pretty new to the rooting thing and everything but I have a major problem. Well let's start that I rooted my phone and stated to mess around with some roms so used safestrap and I fished may phone to liberty 3 rom but I wanted my main frame to be liberty so I deleted safestrap and uninstalled it also then I downloaded bootstrap and flashed liberty 3 rom to my main frame then I uninstalled bootstrap and downloaded safestrap and flashed steel DROID rom to my second frame so I could learn little about each rom on my free time. Now all I did was switch back to non safe mode which is my liberty 3 rom and this was my primary screen that I used. I didn't get the chance to even do anything else and my phone was working perfectly for like 2 months then now it doing some crazy stuff.
First it stared losing service all the time just randomly when I always get service in these areas. Then it started losing service an telling me it has no sim card then it would flash this half black green saying something like bp core mode trying to open usb. It would do this for a few minutes the. It will reboot. And I will not have any service but I can use my wifi but now I have no service at all ant text or call. Now I tryed to clear everything then reflash my rom back and still nothing.. then I used the the one click unbrick your phone and still got no service but every once in a while it will get service bak then do everything ll over...
What do I do? Did I really screw my phone up/?

Look in my signature for the SBF there is a thread by chaoticweaponry that let's you download the fast boot files that can be flashed via motofastboot or rdslite
With that you recover your phone from this kind of behavior( bad flash, hiccup, etc) , given that you didn't updated to a more recent stock ( DON'T update beyond 5.6.890) the sbf is this version and update$ and recover up to that version and before.
If you already updated then you can only flash certain partitions but that's another REPLY hhahh

Yesterday i did same thing, only i found some different thread. It must be somewhere on nexus 4 forum. I was on PA 3+ and it worked very well. Only remember what you need to go to recovery and clear catch before booting, because in my case i couldn't boot until i wiped catch. And to enter recovery mode. You need to go enter fastboot, when choose recovery, and when you will see "dead android" you need to hold power button and then press (only one time, not hold) volume up and then you will see menu you can release power button. No need to press vol up and vol down. Just vol up, and press it only one time. Yesterday my mistake was then i always was holding power+vol up and phone was always turning off. Maybe this info will help for someone.

It is under step 4.
Is there also a way to just unroot without deleting all data?
All I did was replace the customrecovery.img and installing supersu. Cant I just delete that?
I have a battery problem and I need to send the phone back, but Im afraid they will drop warranty because of me rooting it (only to try to calibrate battery -,- )
And what about 4.3 ?
If you reflash your android device to 4.2.2, will it ask to install the update (4.3?)
So, did anyone tried it? does it works? my friend asks me to unroot his nexus, and i want to be sure, that i'll not kill his device

Tried, and so far it seems like I've bricked mine. When I'm supposed to see a dead Android, I have an exclamation mark instead of the "open stomach Android".
Does this work for returning to stock 4.3?

It works wonders! save my life cause my nexus 4 was doomed when I installed Cynogenmod with the Cynogenmod Installer.

Ice Cream Sandwich Update

Just a head up guys. Official Ice Cream Sandwich came out for Lg optimus 3d, and you can easily get it on your Thrill by using Lg Flash tool found here <http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1491870>
kdz file is here <http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2185406> have fun with ice cream sandwich!
ICS
Did you flash this for the thrill? Any extra steps to get it fully working on the thrill?
All you have to do is change the kdz file name to similar formats like other ones
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda app-developers app
ICS
I got it flashed and it works great. Everything is fully functional on the thrill so far that I tried. It is a nice change over GB for sure. If anyone is curious how to flash this, here was my method...
1.) Get the KDZ file from here (http://www.android-files.de/P920V28B_00.kdz) and rename it to V28B_00.kdz.
2.) On this page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1491870) go down to number 3 and set up Lg Flash Tool EXACTLY how it says.
3.) Select the renamed kdz file you just downloaded in the lg flash tool program and let it do it's thing.
4.) On my first bootup it stayed on the bootlogo forever and just would not start up so save yourself some time and do a factory data reset before your first bootup and it will load up fine. The proper way to do a factory hard reset after flashing is to hold VOL DOWN + PWR till it vibrates and it will prompt you to press the power button twice to reset.
Everyone enjoy ICS on their Lg Thrills!
thanks so much!
I am running v20p stock, rooted and unlocked.
I suppose I can directly flash the renamed ics kdz?
And my thrill will be not rooted afyerwards, but still stays unlocked?
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda app-developers app
As long as you follow all the steps above it will flash with no issues. Root and recovery are lost but I think there is a method to get both of them already. I will try to root and recovery later today. As far as staying unlocked after flashing, I am using straight talk so I didn't have to unlock. Hopefully someone else can help you out on that one.

Does that mean the "Software Update" on a stock GB Thrill would install ICS?
Or maybe boot it into "Emergency Mode" (or whatever it is) and using the official LG Tool would work to get ICS without having to do all the smallsrv stuff?
I guess what I'm really asking is, if AT&T officially released ICS, isn't there an easier way to install it?
If you are on stock maybe you can install using the LG Mobile Support Tool. Trying to use that from my ported ICS has messed my phone up though. I'll have to try to rebuild it tonight, hopefully just using the Flash Tool to flash the bin and fls.
I flashed the Korean ICS, hated the bugs, and reverted to GB.
Trying to use the LGMobile Support Tool to install official ICS and it fails. So I guess I'll have to flash the kdz manually.
The Mobile Support Tool appeared to be working for me, until it tried to reboot and I got an "Encryption Unsuccessful" screen.
Now I've used the bin and fls from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198069
After flashing the above with LGFlashTool, I still booted into the "Encryption Unsuccessful" screen, but powered down by long-pressing Power, then turning back on into factory reset mode with Volume down + Power. Following the reset, I appear to be running okay now.
Edit: Nevermind, having an issue , the phone won't work with either of the microSDs I have around. First it's saying they need to be formatted so I attempt that. Then it says the card is damaged.

I got the KDZ flashed. Running Official unrooted AT&T ICS now.
However, it seems I didn't do a factory reset and didn't NEED to. It's running just fun.
My system ROM is 619MB with 7.38MB free.
I'm wondering if that's normal... That's going to make some things pretty tough. (Guessing unsintalling Gulliver's Travels and that other crap will help)
I did the reset. My system memory is showing 102 MB of Apps (I installed a handful of things already), and 770 MB available.

I meant System ROM, not internal.
And odd, finally rooted, browsing SystemROM with ES File Explorer. Gulliver's not there. Biggest app is Golf and LG Home at 16MB each...
I remember someone made an app to get rid of most of the AT&T crap. That still work for ICS? I remember AT&T Contacts is required. Don't remove that...
Every boot takes a LONG ASS time, about 10 minutes, to scan my media. That's with no SD card inserted. I might do a factory reset.

thank you! but that method does not have instructions and does not seem safe enough...
everyone keeps talking about this rom but no one is saying how to root the rom and no one is pointing out the 3D Converter problem, it does not work at all!!! it works the same way as the xbsall port LOL! and when it does, you can't adjust the brightness...:silly:
Its basically the same version as the xbsall port (v30b) but for some reason it cannot be rooted through the same methods...
I did a factory reset, and the phone stopped booting. Bizarre.
Anyways, I wiped everything but system, and reflashed the KDZ. It's booting now.
Then I flashed the ICS bootloader BUT I used the GB CWM v6. The other recoveries didn't seem to flash properly. So I'm stock rooted now. Now to remember what file to change to make the 3D button work as a shutter.

You need to make sure your boot stack and radios are appropriate for the rom you want to flash. The G2 ROM scene is a bit fractured, since CM11 and a good chunk of derivative ROMs are still based on the 12B (4.2) OTA, but some devs are now working with the 24A (4.4) OTA.
If you can get into the bootloader/fastboot, you may be able to flash the appropriate boot stack and recovery from there, if you know what you're doing. The "cleaner" route would be to use TOT or KDZ to get back to stock, and start from scratch.

If you can't get into recovery, and only download mode, I'd probably go ahead and return to complete stock. The nice thing about this phone is it is easily rooted and rommed again if you want to do that. Plus you'll learn a lot in the process. My two cents.

As far as that goes, how is installing the LG G2 unified drivers supposed to go? I found the download link for them in the main 200 page thread for this. Extracted the zip, but none of the .exe files do anything when run. Is that normal or is something wrong? For example I tried running InstallUSB64.exe but absolutely nothing happens.
Another more recent post on like page 185 of the thread had another download link, but that just leads to a file called "LG" with no extension and it doesn't appear to be a .zip

No you will need to root and then install custom recovery. Depending on what you are on. If you are on kitkat you can use autorec, and anything earlier you can use flashify.

no problem. If you want a nice working asop rom check on Vanir 4.4.3
I'm having a hell of a time trying to get this thing to root. I followed all of the instructions for installing the LG device drivers and when I go to run the IOroot25 it flashes really quickly and then goes away. USB debugging is enabled and I have tried it in ethernet mode and charging mode. Both produce the same result. Do I need to remove any other drives I might have on my computer in order to get it to work? Any other ideas?

You need to be in Ethernet mode.
Once it boots into recovery, did you scroll down and select "install from adb"?

Yeah, I had everything setup correctly and it didn't work. Tried the same exact thing on another computer and it worked flawlessly. Thanks though!

Im having problems rooting it as well. I installed the latest drivers 1.14 I believe, and when trying to root it using ioroot25 it says downgrade to a previous version.
I do have it on Ethernet mode, and it reboots it into recovery, but that's it. I select apply update from adb but again, on ioroot it does nothing after the suggestion to downgrade.
any suggestions?
Make sure your phone is setup. Debugging mode is set. Unknown sources is set. Phone is on airplane mode. Plug into computer and start ioroot25 and follow steps

Guys just use towelroot to root. You install an app and push a button.
