You want to UNLOCK the boot loader FIRST, then deal with CWM/TWRP later.
If you don't, you will get stuck in a boot loop.
ICS is the first factory ROM on the P970 where LG locked the boot loader. Much of what's on here is folks moving up from Froyo or Gingerbread. ICS added a number of headaches for phone hacking.
The good news is that once you unlock that boot loader, it's "business as usual".
I've tried with bootloader unlocker by Ilko and said "killing server" server not found....can you tell me why?

Not sure. Does it prompt you for a server address? I wonder if it's related to allowing a 127.0.0.1 connection?
Did you launch the unlocker with administrator privileges? You'd have to right-click first then "run as administrator".

On first blush, it looks like things may have worked... Maybe not.
When I first rooted my phone, I connected it to the computer (via USB) with the phone OFF. I think I held down the volume up (or was it down?) button, and holding that, powered on the phone. It went to the boot loader. Then I did the rooting magic.
Are you doing that ?

If it's rooted, it's rooted.
I'm guessing you have CWM downloaded too.
It's just the bootloader now.....
I need to do some research. Try what I was talking about. I didn't have to remove anything when I did the root (SD card, etc). Just the volume + power (I think that's right).
Maybe someone with more experience on the ICS bootloader can pipe in. I'm working blind here.

Good, now you need 3 things :-
1. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&hl=en
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1624565 (If you want to flash higher than ICS ROM, like JB or KitKat)
3. Your desired ROM's zip
STEPS :-
a. Put both (2 & 3) at the root of your SDCard via any method you prefer.
b. Install the 1st from market (or apk) and open it. From its menu reboot to recovery. (you may need to install CWM from its menu to reboot into recovery, so be sure you have data)
c. Flash the (2) AROMA Recovery flasher and select the latest one without any mod (best from Evi)
d. Reboot normal just to check everything is normal.
e. Reboot again to recovery using Rom Manager's reboot to recovery option menu.
f. Do a factory reset/wipe data from CWM menu
g. Select "Install from ZIP" and select the desire ROM's zip you have put in 1st step.
You are done.
NOTE : in CWM, Rocker button goes up n down, and search button selects the option. Also power button selects the option but avoid it due to accidental turn offs.

Hii all!
I've made a new post to explain thing better. My main problem is that I can't get into my recovery menu.
A few weeks ago I've successfully rooted my Milestone (bootloader 90.78 > vulnerable recovery From this post > Copied OpenRecory + update.zip (G.O.T. OpenRecovery) to my SD card) But then i wanted to install a custom ROM. So I thought it was good to start over with a clean phone, I followed the "[HOW-TO] Get your Milestone back to stock" guide. I downloaded the following .sbf "SHOLS_U2_02.36.0_UCASHLSMR2EMEAB1B806D.0R_PDS003_USASHLS00RTGB_P026_A019_HWp2a_1FF.sbf", flashed my phone with this .sbf, all went fine. Then the vulnerable recovery needed to be installed, I've tried several vulnerables. But after completed the install I cant get into the recovery, I'm stuck at the /!\ screen. Can someone help me?
Thanks
OLD POST:
[old]Hii all!
I have a really nasty problem here. I can't open the recovery menu, I'm stuck at the /!\ image, tried the two key combinations, but no one works.
I already rooted my phone and I wanted to install a custom ROM. But before this I wanted a clean/stock phone, so I flashed him to stock .sbf. Then I installed vulnerable to get into recovery menu >> doesn't work. OK. Lets install the bootloader again + vulnerable >> doesn't work. Can someone help me with this, I really want a custom ROM and root (again)
Thanks, eXtink[/old]
Flas G.O.T. ) cause it already has vulnerable recovery injected then install open recovery 3.3 and play

Hi, I also have this problem.
there is openrecovery 3.3? where can i get this.
The dev website only shows 2.1? is their site outdated?
Hi!
I'm suffering the same problem:
I tried with the phone as I got it (no flash nor anything) - Could enter recovery mode (Power + CAM) but no menu display with VOLUP + CAM at the same time nor first VOLUP and then CAM.
I tried installing openrecovery and also androidiani, but after flashing vulnerable recoveri 90.78 and starting in recovery mode the same problem, no menu.
I flashed G.O.T telus 2.2.1 and still the same problem
Any ideas?

A few points:
You should ALWAYS be able to get to the default recovery. The default
recovery is not useful for flashing ROMs, but if you can't get to it, you have serious issues.
The default recovery can be accessed by powering on the phone with camera pressed down until you see the exclamation/triangle icon/cell phone icon.
RELEASE all buttons. Then press VOLUME UP (leaving it pressed down) and hit the camera button again (once). It should INSTANTLY give you a recovery menu.
You should now be in the RECOVERY (not OpenRecovery). You should a small number of options : reboot, apply update.zip,etc.
If you have not correctly installed the Vulnerable Recovery, you won't be able to use the apply update.zip option to run Open Recovery, Androidiani, etc.
The following thread is the best guide to get a recovery installed. Follow it exactly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932196
The best recovery for Milestone is Androidiani. GOT recovery is OLD. OpenRecovery works fine, but Androidiani has more options for Milestone.
The general steps are:
1) Flash a GOT sbf using RSD lite. This installs vulnerable recovery
2) Download Androidiani. Put its update.zip in the ROOT of you SDCARD and put the OpenRecovery FOLDER (unzipped) also in the ROOT of the SDcard
3) Enter Recovery (as described above)
4) Choose Apply update.zip to get into Androidiani
5) Follow instructions for the ROM you want to use...
I hope this helps! It has worked on thousands of milestones. I see no reason for it to fail on yours.

Post the video and we can see if you have a problem.
Did you try starting from scratch using the appropriate GOT sbf?
The recovery gets overwritten by that sbf, so if this is succesful, any corrupted recovery problem should go away.

I flashed GOT Telus 2.2.1 full, at least I've got froyo now, but still no recovery menu. I also tried without SD and SIM to check if something could be wrong with them but no luck.

This guide may or may not be outdated since i am no longer maintaining it! Sorry for that!
I TAKE NO CREDIT FOR ANYTHING IN THIS THREAD
Except the guide itself...
The windows version is under review, sorry guys! But the linux one still is up
*Thanks to everyone who made this possible, GREAT WORK!!!*
First things first, you need to S-OFF your phone and in human terms that means remove the big bad boulder thats stopping you from installing what you want on your phone.
Prepare the computer
1. Go here here and download it for windows ( in this guide i will use the windows version ). and extract it.
2. Install HTC-Sync from here
3. Remove HTC-sync WHAT!? yeah you only needed the drivers but you have to install HTC-sync for that.
4. reboot your computer
Prepare the phone
1.Go to settings/applications/development and make sure USB Debugging is ON
2.Turn on Airplane mode ( you don't need anyone calling you during the process anyway... )
3.Download this and put it on your SD-card ( not in any folder ). This is the recovery Clockworkmod for Incredible S taken from here
S-OFF'ing YAY!
1. Connect your phone to the computer with your USB-cable
2. Start alpharevx.exe that you downloaded before
3. Go to here again
4. Press download again, the file itself is not important just the form.
5. Fill in your information, you will see the serial you must fill in in the alpharevx.exe you launched before. And the hboot version is also visible in the program ( look for 1.09 or 1.13 the one it says is the one you got )
6. Submit the form and you should get a nice long serial-key, copy paste or write it into the alpharevx program and press enter!
7. Wait a while ( atleast 15 min ) if it dosen't seem to work see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130346 for more information
8. You should now have S-OFF!!
Recovery
1. If i remember correctly the phone starts automagically in h-boot and it should automagically install the recovery you downloaded earlier otherwise just start your phone in h-boot ( hold volume-down and press power ) and it will do it automagically.
2. Start up your phone, connect the phone to your computer and remove the recovery file from your SD-CARD
3. Reboot your phone in h-boot again, scroll with volume up and down and choose recovery with the power and now you are in recovery. Neat huh
If this way to get recovery dosen't work try this

1. Download CMW's zip file (Available in this thread here)
2. Make sure the file is named "PG32IMG.zip" without quotes.
3. Put file in your SD card
4. Switch off phone
5. Pull out the battery and wait 5 seconds. Put the battery back in again. (This step is needed in case fast boot is enabled..)
6. Press vol down+power. HBoot (white screen with 3 android logos at the bottom) should load.
7. Wait a while.. it should pick up on your PG32IMG.zip automatically and install your custom recovery
8. Reboot into your OS and remove the zip
9. Go back into HBoot and then recovery. Use as you please (I suggest you take a backup first then proceed to flashing or doing anything else you might fancy )

I'm not an expert but I'd really have to say no (assuming by simlock you mean locking your phone to your carrier).
This method gives you s-off so you can get root.. there after, you can do what you please on the software side.
For unlocking your phone from your carrier, you need an unlock code (afaik).
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though.
Small correction suggestion

My post speaks about the technique for the IncS. Anything else, I've not tried on. The reason for this method is that AlphaRevX doesn't work on all ROMs (like the Indian/Asian GB update for the IncS). So my post talks about moving to the Optus/Virgin RUU ROM to get your phone AlphaRevXed

You should go into HBOOT and check because if it is S-OFF, you will need to know which version of HBOOT you have in order to download and generate the appropriate AlphaRevX key.

Yes, if you device is already S-OFF then you just need to flash a custom recovery and then you can flash a rooted ROM or you can add root your current ROM.

Well I decided to call Google about the boot loader recovery not working as it should. I was hoping this call would help them to work on another update but they say that's the way its supposed to work. Here's the email Instructions:
1. Power down your device
2. Press and hold both volume keys and the power button to enter
Bootloader mode
3. Press the volume keys to cycle to the Recovery mode option
4. Press the power button to select Recovery mode
5. From the Recovery mode screen, press and hold the Power button then
press the Volume up button.
6. Use the volume buttons to select wipe data/factory reset.
7. Select Yes -- delete all user data.
8. The factory data reset process will now start. Once its finished,
select 'Reboot system now.'
The only option we have in the new recovery is to wipe data. Maybe for those having problems accessing twrp or cwm will be able to a access it with step 5. I don't know haven't rooted yet. So I decided to ask about nvflash and they said they're not going to release any nvflash tools or files.
um, yup. thats how stock bootloader and stock recovery work. lol
whats the issue? if your not even rooted, you wouldn't even know if you have an issue or not with the new bootloader.
Are you saying that you can't flash a different recovery? Or that when you do you still get the same stock recovery? I'm not quite sure what the issue is here, because that is exactly how the stock bootloader, and recovery are supposed to work.
Are you making sure to unlock fastboot before trying to flash recovery. I don't recall seeing or hearing anyone say anything about not being able to get to clockwork mod once its installed.

No. I saw people posting they couldn't get go cwm and could only see the red exclamation point. And I was just saying maybe after choosing recovery then holding volume up and power it would then go to cWm or twrp. I was hoping for someone to try it who is still on 3.41 Recovery. A lot of people downgraded back to 3.39 or whatever version it was

I can confirm that to get in to the stock recovery you hold down 'power' and then tap 'vol up'.
At present I am running the latest CWM touch recovery. This boots straight into it from the bootloader without any extra button presses.
My personal preference to go into CWM is from either QuickBoot or ROM Manager.

I wonder why some on 3.41 can't go straight to twrp and some can. Sorry for the ahole comment I thought you were trying to be a smartass towards me. I'm just trying to find out as much info from people before I root. I am experienced at flashing and a little adb but I just read a lot of HELP BRICKED MY NEXUS posts. Did you use wugs toolkit or adb to unlock and root?

When I first flashed TWRP onto my Nexus 7 after that official 4.1.2 OTA update, I wasn't able to boot into it. I then flashed it again via fastboot, and then booted the TWRP image that was on my computer, and then TWRP loaded.
I believe TWRP does work normally now as well (I can boot into it and reboot into it).

Well if I was you I'd just use mskips toolkit, its absolutely epic it'll save you a lot of farting around. I take it that your fully updated? ( Not that it matters) You seem to know and understand your way around adb so just go for it and enjoy.
Its works smooth as silk and save you a lot off time. The options available to you are just staggering!

going to recovery from bootloader works fine after 3.41.....wat r u talkin abt? (i m stock rooted+twrp)
oh yea...u hav 2 remove that recovery stock.p file thingy first.
There are plenty of people that are having issues with recovery on 3.41 bootloader.... Its confirmed some have it some don't.
The issue is that with 3.41 bootloader on some Nexus 7 Devices a custom recovery is unbootable no matter how you try, every time it will try to load recovery and fail at a black screen then reboot into the OS. It does not matter how you try from ADB reboot to recovery or from bootloader with USB attached or not.

Ohh crap I read about that in some thread. Any idea exactly what has to be done. The only way I can get into cwm is with ROM toolbox but I have to reflash cwm every time then hit boot into recovery.

In your system folder there's a file called 'recovery-from-boot.p'
Go into a file manager with w/r access and rename it ' recovery-from-boot.p.bak'
When the system boots it reads that file and resets the recovery to stock, by changing the name you remove the problem.

So, sorry if this is a noob question..
I really need urgent help!
I am on V20a (ESA-XXX) and have successfully rooted my phone.

Its gives the following error and turns of in 5 seconds..
[LG-Security] Error: Boot Image Signature!
The phone doesn't start and does not go into recovery either..
The phone is not even recognised by my PC.. keeps restarting (to error screen) if i connect to pc..

SOLUTION:
Reflash .kdz via Software Upgrade Mode (hold Power button and Volume - )
Dude, reflashing your phone should work. As long as SW mode is still accessible, your phone isn't dead yet. Follow the instructions on this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35971349 Be freaking sure all necessary drivers are properly installed.
Or you can put your phone in recovery mode (power + vol +) and reinstall the stock rom using recovery LG tools providing your Internet connection is fast and stable

hey dude, i have flashed 7 times exactly since this morning only. and i have gotten that error 3 times of those 7. so it should not be a problem
Thanks!
After a few attempts, was able to go to the s/w upgrade mode.. (power + vol(-) )
Reflashed .kdz and it's all good.. (had to root again)
Actually, i was freaked out more coz it's my new phone and i didn't find others with the problem..
I hope that this thread would help if anyone faces a similar problem in the future..
Thanks for the prompt response, guys!

You needed to unlock bootloader first, either "adb reboot oem-unlock" or download terminal emulator, root the phone and type:
su
echo 40000000c8 > /sys/firmware/fuse/odm_reserved

So if I understood you right, you tried to install CWM without unlocking your boot loader? So now you got a boot image error? I'd suggest to try LG Mobile Support Tool and flash V20A/V20B and then unlock Boot loader. Even if you're on "official JB" as of now, installing CWM without unlocked bootloader screwed your boot image and there's no way to do anything without flashing back a kdz.

Hey,
I have reinstalled the drivers for my device, but the installation failed again.
What can I do else? :/
Hello everybody,
so I'm as new to this forum as I am to the android world. Just this Wednesday i bought a new LG Optimus 4X HD on amazon.de
Thought it would be nice to start of with Cyanogenmod.
So I started my search for some good "How-To's"...it were many I went through and I already invested many hours in getting this running. Sadly it still doesn't work. I actually wanted to stay with one How-To but at one point there's always a download not working so that other sources are needed.
So what did I do...
-I rooted it yes (at this point I needed to download "Rooting Toolkit for Optimus 4X HD" which wasn't downloadable so i switched to another How-To, btw. first How-To: http://androidlegend.com/android-4-2-1-via-cyanogenmod-10-1-for-lg-optimus-4x-hd-p880-cm10-1/
-Installed "LG 4X Recovery 1.2" and installed this way CWM.
-At another point here I installed ROM Manager, installed it and went into Recovery and here happend the first problem, kernel panic.
Said something like "couldn't load kernel/wrong kernel", kernel panics...Me panics too
Anyway, force kill -> auto reboot -> still kernel panic -> again -> batterie out and a few times with usb cable connected to PC -> Batterie again, works :good:
Ok so Clockworkmods Rom Manager seemed to be not that good... did recovery boot with LG 4X Recovery, tada works, I go into the folder with the Cyanogenmod-zip and want to start the ROM installation and it says Status 7 (of course I googled Status 7 and searched here in the xda-boards for it, nothing helpful found yet)
Installed older version of LG 4X Recovery (1.1), still same fault.
I uninstall the ROM manager, redownload and reinstall, try to backup -> Kernel panic.
I search for a different How-To, yet nothing good happened. Others go something similar and say "at booting press On-Button and Volume down-button at the same time", I do that -> Kernel panic
I have no idea whats wrong with the kernel...but normal booting works fine.
Next I read something about needing to unlock bootloader, have a workthrough aka this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020
After I enter "adb reboot oem-unlock" in DOS command window it should say something concerning "open bootloader", but not in my case, just a normal reboot happened (this is what it looks like at least). Checking the hidden menu also doesn't show anything as I don't have the option with the boot-loader status there.
Next trick, I go to LG Recovery again and first wipe the whole stuff and try then the Cyanogen istall, still doesn't work and as I wasn't able to backups before (tried Titanium but it froze at 12% and the stuff about ROM Manager is told^^) I now had a clean factory install, all my work before lost, nothing rooted and still a kernel which panics when I do the "safe-boot"(this volume- and on-button-thing).
I also tried 3-All-in-one solutions, neither of them worked. (2 german ones, and one english one)
So I think thats it, ah wrong, still not finished. I also tried to install a new kernel to erase that f****ng problem with the kernel panic. I choose to use WerwewolfJB_v005 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256899
the easy and fast way made the same as the try before with the "open bootloader"-try, just normal restart. When I enter the second line in the command line, it just says "waiting for device".
So yeah, thats it. I don't know what else to do. Does anyone know what I could also do, or is this case unsolvable? Is the Smartphone broken or did I make a mistake at any point? What should I do?
I'd be super glad if anyone could help me here. I hope I described my case well enough. I hope I didn't forget anything.
Thanks in advance!
Greetz chrisus
I am also new to this stuff but maybe i could help you anyway
What is the Firmware Version of your phone?
(Sorry for bad english )
The old "adb reboot oem-unlock" didn't work for me on UK, v234-000 either. I followed this thread instead and it worked perfectly first time.
As long as your phone has been turned on and connected to the network for long enough on v20x you should be fine - once you get the notification from LG about your phone being registered or similar then you'll be fine, normally a couple of hours.
Just reflash your phone to stock, wait for the notification and try the two-step method from the above post and you should be fine.
root , recorery and unlock boot loader
you must have your bootloader unlocked in order to flash kernels
( this worked for me but I can't guarantee it will work for others you can only try !! be aware when messing with firmware and bootloader you warranty could be voided )
make sure your phone is rooted you know if it is rooted because you will have superuser installed in your apps ( grey square icon with green android head on it ). if not I used this method to root my phone so try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688
if your phone is rooted next you will need a recovery this will help to backup your phone and create a restore point so in case any thing goes wrong. to install a recovery go to play store and download rom manager ( clockworkmod ) once installed open rom manger and select recovery setup. then select install or update recovery then select your phone ( lg optimus 4x hd). then select flash clockworkmod recovery. and then wait while it downloads and setup . hopefully when finished it will say succesfull. ( make sure phone is rooted or it wont work ) to check clockwork mod is working you can reboot into recovery through rom manager or power off phone then hold volume down key press power button to power up but keep holding volume down key until recovery boot up. ( be a wise option to backup phone now in recovery)
next to unlock bootloader ( so you can flash roms with kernels) go to this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020
and download the BL_unlock_new .rar file when its download copy it to your desktop on pc and then extract it to desktop on pc . now make sure your phone is not connected to your computer go to phone settings, then go to development options, and then select usb debugging on. once debugging is on now connect your phone to pc wait for it to connect you can keep your phone on charging mode. now open the BL_unlocking_new extracted folder on desktop on pc and double click on the BL_unlock file a box should open up on your desktop asking you to tap a key to continue so press a key now your phone should reboot and some white writing will appear on screen .on your desktop the bottom line should say please... now tap a key on computer it should say press any key to continue < waiting for device> now disconnect phone from computer look on phone screen it should say now ready! now hold power button for 10 secs and let phone reboot. to test if bootloader is unlocked on phone go to dail pad and dail this 3845#*880# you should get the hidden menu on your screen scroll down to bootloader unlock check and select then select bootloader unlock check and hopefully it should say unlock...
now you have root , recovery and bootloader unlock, now you can download a rom for this phone copy rom ( should be a zip file ) to your phone then open rom manager on phone and reboot in to recovery or power off phone, hold volume down button then press power button should now boot into recovery then you want to use volume keys to scroll down and select wipe data/factory reset with power button then scroll down and select advanced then scroll down and select wipe dalvik cache then you want to select go back then select install zip from sd card then select where you saved your rom sd card or external sd card then select rom then select install...
hopefully if that's helped you or anybody else ...

If the OP can possibly get his bootloader unlocked following the official method then he should, rather than using that file. Nobody really knows what all the 'fuses' that are blown by using that file do and that would certainly result in his warranty being voided in any country, whereas in a lot of countries his warranty won't actually be voided by using the official unlock method.

Ok, thanks for the answers so far. But still, wasn't able to get any further.
@Dexxon: Firmware version is 4.0.3
Besides: Kernel Version is 2.6.39.4 and there's also something written like "[email protected] #1" in the hidden menu...is this normal? AP Bootloader Verison unknown and AP OS Version is 2.6.39.4 also this jinwoo...
@SimonTS: I tried to unlock the bootloader with your link and advices (which is the same as i tried before).
Got a message saying "Thanks for buying this LG Phone..blabla" and I guess thats what you mentantioned about that informing.
Battery was loaded to 100% so i connected it to PC, said "LG Software Mode Connection" on the phone (before I always took that "data exchange connection"), went to the adb folder and made a command window there, entered "adb reboot-bootloader", smartphone reboots, should stay in LG window screen, but it doesn't. It just boots totally normal into the home screen.
@Hursty uk: As I said in the first post. Everything regarding the ROM Manager from CWM sends my Phone into kernel panic. As this is quite hard to get a normal reboot again (even battery out for some time and back-in doesn't solve this) I really prefere to not use this option. As it is just frustrating and doesn't help.
And yes it is already rooted (I have SuperSU and I checked it with the "Root Checker"-App) Everything says it is rooted. I rooted it with that method: androidlegend.com/how-to-root-lg-optimus-4x-hd-o4x-p880
Ah I really don't know what else to do. Is something just wrong with my device?
btw I also can't do a software update with the LG Software from there website, so I could at least go 4.1 instead of 4.0.3 atm...
When I try it that way, and install the USB-Drvier for LG P880 the SW-Update button stays grey and is unclickable even though the phone is connected.

To unlock the bootloader following either of the official methods requires you to be running v20x (The LG Stock v4.1 code) first, so that is why the commands are doing nothing for you.
For the moment, forget about CWM, Root, Bootloaders etc - the key thing is to get your phone working again. Can you reinstall stock v10x software following the guide on this page?

He might as well just flash JB with flashtool, saves him flashing ICS just to flash JB straight after

To unlock the bootloader following either of the official methods requires you to be running v20x (The LG Stock v4.1 code) first, so that is why the commands are doing nothing for you.
For the moment, forget about CWM, Root, Bootloaders etc - the key thing is to get your phone working again. Can you reinstall stock v10x software following the guide on this page?

that would of been my next answer @SimonTS . A while back a flashed something on my phone and it got stuck at the lg bootup picture what I had to do was re-install original firmware ( through KDZ files) to get my phone working. I would try the link @SimonTS suggested .

Indeed - sorry, having a slightly dense day and was more thinking about getting him back to the stage at which his phone was working correctly before.

Thanks for that link, I tried it but that also didn't work (at least I guess so...)
I did everything like said at the link but at the last point the program (kdz_fw_upd.exe) crashes. Tried it 3 times, every time as administrator like mentioned in that forum post. I'm using Win 8 64bit btw...
Screenshot is in the attached .jpg. My system is japanese, but I think you can figure out what this kind of window means. It just says that the program isn't responding and needs to be shutdown.
I tried it like mentioned with putting the battery back in when the log starts and without putting it back in, in both cases the program crashes after a few seconds (~10 secs) when started.
Where do I actually see which V**x version is installed? If v10x or v20a? Surprisingly the LG Support Tool said I have v10H when the phone was still connected after the crash. And it offered me a SW-Update. But I haven't done that one yet, not sure if that would work correct...
@ chrisus
man, what is your phone status now?
in what situation you are actually?

+1 this. Also, there have been many problems with running these apps using Windows 8, and you need to make sure you're not using a USB 3 port as they being other problems in to the equation.

Ok so I've flashed JB with the LG Updater (without batterie and volume down button pressed connecting to PC, than start the update -> meanwhile putting batterie back in)
JB worked just fine and I also don't had the problem with the kernel panic when booting with volume down and power button.
So I thought, everything fresh and also different, I might give the ROM Manager App again a try (after I rooted it that way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688 )...well, wasn't that smart. After I installed the Recovery for P880 in the ROM Manager, i made a normal boot (just for sure), back in the app, i wanted to go into Recovery mode and again kernel panic, bit different this time cause it does a shutdown after 5 seconds^^
Anyway, this way it didn't work, from now on I also couldn't go into safe mode anymore, same kernel panic.
As this kind of recovery doesn't seem to work, I tried the "old" way with the "LG 4X Recovery" I mentioned before. After recovery installation i just wanted to boot normal aaaand nothing happened. It stayed in the LG screen. Restart and anything didn't help here so I backed back to v10H with previous methods. Now I just got a security error saying "morning call is empty", no idea what that means but I just did the same method for JB again.
Worked afterwards, so I wanted to try it without ROM Manager Recovery installed and just LG 4X Recovery, (after rooted again of course) and it didn't boot again. Same game again.
So now I have JB installed, I'm going to root it now again, but I don't know what way I should go for doing the Recovery Part. I'm stuck on point 3 here
Any advices? btw thanks a lot until here, at least I made it half-way-through to JB now. Worst case I'd stay with that one at least.
I'm not entirely sure which threads you've been reading. Once you have the stock v20x ROM on your phone, just leave it alone for a few hours and make sure it is fully charged
After that, try to unlock the bootloader before doing anything else. If that works then you can worry about CWM and custom ROMs.

ok.
now i suppose you have a functional rooted JB 4.1.2 device.
from that you have to going on to rest of the steps to have CM installed on your device.so if it is not that (functional rooted JB device) is need to flash again JB and rooted again.
if you have the proper kdz file the tutorial for flasing is there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723
and the tutorial for rooting device is there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688&highlight=root+jb+4+1+2+
after that make some reboot of device to verify that:
1. the device boot to system normaly a few times (just let the device boot itself)
2. the device enter in S/W Upgrade Mode (with the device off, put the USB cable in device and PC or in device and AC adapter and press VOL DOWN + POWER) a few times
3. the device boot in Stock Recovery (with the device off, press VOL DOWN + POWER) a few time.
if you can manage to do this tree steps a few times normaly then you have a fully functional device and we go to next step that is Custom Recovery
the chance to make this steps without errors is more big if you start from scratch meaning fully wipe the device and flashing stock LG software on the device.
so, let as know here when you are ready...

he should unlock bootloader before flashing custom recovery.
so, dont use rom manager before you unlock bootloader, that's why you get kernel panics.
