I WAS WONDERING HOW I CAN FLASH THE SONY'S STOCK KERNEL ON A CUSTOM ROM LIKE CYANOGENMOD AND AOKP
BECAUSE ALL THE OHER KERNELS HAVE REALLY BAD BATTERY LIFE
IS THERE A WAY TO RUN CYANOGENMOD ROM ON SONYS STOCK KERNEL ???
I LUV THE SONY STOCK ROM BECAUSE OF ITS BATTERY,BUT I ALSO LUV CYANOGENMOD BECAUSE OF ITS CUSTOMIZATION AND LOOKS
PLEASE LET ME KNOW, IM STUCK GOING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN SONY'S FIRMWARE AND CYANOGE
First, here are steps in turning off caps lock:
http://www.wikihow.com/Turn-Off-Caps-Lock
Secondly, please search before you post.
Thirdly, if somehow you just can't find what you're looking for:
No, you can't use Sony's kernel on CM11 based ROMs.
You can flash Doom's advanced stock kernel which is just Sony's stock kernel with added recovery via recovery if you want to switch back to stock-based ROMs. It is found in Doomkernel thread, please search for it.
Even we would really like to see AOSP/CM/MIUI on stock kernel, there's no luck...
But...
There are some projects trying to build MIUI on stick kernel so join them and try to help...
..hehe.. Here are steps for turning off caps lock...haha....good one...

CM,PAC other custom roms need custom kernel only..
there are no chances they work on stock kernel....
stock based roms only work on stock kernel
so in conclusion
is there any custom rom out there for xperia z1 that has a really good battery life ?

Click the link in my sig (*feels like a broken record*) and find the "Sony Ericsson" folder.
Search for B.Jay in the search box and open one of his posts. Then click the link in his signature.

Pls reconsider using custom kernel
I also got the same probs before, but I suggest U continue using custom kernel b4 revert back to stock kernel cuz actually it's much, much faster and stable with so many advantages. For ur prob, I suggest:
1) remember: ALWAYS do FULL WIPE b4 install any ROM (& of coz, compatible ROM that goes with the kernel) without do FULL WIPE the data might be conflicted with previous ones
2) back up ur apps with Titanium Backup: the easiest and so far safe method

For those who are unfortunate about not unlocking their x8 with 11w30 and above/.... i have a question for u
im on stock kernel and rom and lock bootloader
sorry for asking but i cant seem to find answer if i can change my stock kernel to one of the stock kernel offering of other dev and change my rom to custom rom ??
if yes can u suggest a good rom with good battery life ans stable for everyday use i prefer GB THANKS
Well, stock kernel is stock because you cannot use the cutom ones offered by other devs. This, however, does not prohibit you the use of cutom roms, you only have to use the ones that support the stock kernel option.
As for the roms, well, check out the sticky in general section for a comprehensive list of various ROMs and their supported kernels (look for stock kernel in the kernels list).
<shameless_plug>I, personally, use GingerDX, a fast, smooth and really nice in overall rom</shameless_plug>

first i have a w8 with 12w02 and i see a lot of roms with stock kernel but all of them (as i know) based on CM, so i really miss sony's apps like alarm, clock...
guys pls tell me a rom is a ported from xmini, lww... so we both have ginger bread and sony's apps
tks
But they are good roms, just try. As i know its not possible to port from 2011 devices. Cause they are armv7, x8 is armv6

Try the old (but good ) GingerCruzt rom. This have SE look, and use some original SE app. Up to 8.4 it works on stock kernel (the latest 8.5 require custom kernel). And some xgin roms use some SE apps (widgets, contacts app, etc) around version 5.6-6.0. These roms is abandoned, and hard to find working download link. Unfortunatelly only these old hybrid solutions exist (cm7 + some SE apps) for stock kernel. If you lucky, maybe in the android development section you can find newer stock based roms what contains original SE apps (I not follow every rom threads), but do not want too much, these roms usually contains only SE launcher, timescape, some original widgets, dialer/contacts, xperia themed message app, 50-90% xperia look, and some apps what have modified UI to look similar to the SE apps.
Try semc Debrand by achotjan little buggy but stable and workable, does require custom kernel tho

unfortunately, the op's date is 12wXX. so unlocking his bootloader is a huge risk.
@op: i understand your preference for sony's stock apps. but there are a lot of nice alternatives for them. if you don't want that, stock rom is pretty good (considering the situation).

I guess u got lucky Now i guess u can unlock your phone's bootloader. For custom rom with sony look and feel i would recommend Gingercruzt 8.1/8.5 for stock kernel and 8.5 for custom kernel

I don't know...About the risk i think that it would be better if you won't unlock your bootloader, because you don't know what date of manufacturing you have, and it's not with old kernel. This is the date of manufacturing the motherboard.
@voncount from who you know that you have 11w21 ?
I think GingerCruzt or XGin..
what is the most stable CM11 ROM for xperia z1? I'm on stock based custom ROM, i'm on ihacker 4.1 but I always wanted to try pure android ROM. I see quite a few pure ROM but there seems to be a similarity and I'm not sure which one to pick. and of course the process of installing is different from Stock based ROM, you have to install GAPPS and sometimes compatible kernels so if anyone know something or two about this please give any suggestion.
Thanks so much

I use Build 11 20140504 nightly - honami.
No bugs so far. WiFi and mobile data are working. Camera works too.

I would say any rom that doesn't have the latest cwm 6.0.4.8. cwm 6.0.4.7 is the best no camera problems if you want a link just PM me and I'll upload it since cyanogenmod webpage doesn't have it anymore
yup owns Z1 and stuff. Also if I've helped you don't forget to hit THANKS - actions speak louder that words.
Please tell me what you base that on and please explain how recovery effects the camera...

Ever since April release where cwm 6.0.4.8 was introduced camera has 50% chance of working I know there is a fix for it but after updating nightlies fix goes away and you have to reflash fix
Before latest cwm camera worked 100% of the time even though it had the usual freeze for about 5 seconds.
Ive tried formatting boot/system/data amd the problem persists. The only fix is to flash the zip file.

I was talking about the version of cm11. On April they released new caf kernel cm11 which was cwm 6.0.4.8. Before that camera work well and only froze for 5 seconds
The kernel does not effect it I was talking about version of cm11 since I've lost track of the exact nightly.

With all the hype about the official sense 6 ota rolling out I've been considering reverting back to stock w/ root. The reason is I dont use many of the features that custom roms offer, I like how sense 6 looks and prefer it to be stock (no init.d support etc).
I dont care about features or performance, my only concern is battery life, so how does the stock rom compare to custom roms on the HTC One in terms of battery life?

you are on xda-developers but recommend staying stock... somewhat of a controversy there, no?
and stock doesn't have bugs?
I have to agree with slogger. I tried most of custom ROMs on xda and none of them can match my stock 4.4.2 in combination with Elemental kernel. I have perfectly smooth, fast phone and my battery lasts around 50 hours off charge with moderate use with CPU OCed to 2.05 GHz

The same way you flash a kernel on a custom rom. Flash it from custom recovery. Make sure that the kernel you want to use is Sense compatible

I read that that wont work, since the stock rom has a secure kernel. You would need an unsecure kernel in order to be able to write another on over it.
But ill give it a shot regardless.

No you don't. The secure kernal affects for example deleting system apps or any bloat software that you don't want. It will be back after a reboot. You can flash anything in recovery no probs
