[Q] Toolkit for Root and Bootloader? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi men,
I bought this phone today, and although I've seen videos to unlock root permissions and bootloarder, but i would like to know if there is a toolkit that allowed all this with just a few clicks without follow the whole procedure; and if yes, how can i use it.
thanks to all

I haven't heard of one that does it all for you in a couple of clicks where you don't have to do anything.
You can give mine a go if you want. Its in my signature.

Nonono. Toolkits are a bad bad bad idea. It's actually not hard to flash roms and unlocked bootloaders. But it is so worthwhile learning all the commands and doing it yourself. Then if you ever stuff something up you will have an idea how to fix it instead of using a stupid toolkit. There are so many guides on here. They are well worth reading

you need to read the stickies in every part of the hero forum and do some google searches and you will see what you need to do. after about two weeks of reading and lurking here you will have all the info you need to make your phone awesome.
heres a good first step for you though
flash a custom recovery, then flash a custom rom.

Rooting your phone wont change the way it looks... you just have root access, that gives you the ability to change any thing you want... like the way it looks.

Now you want it to look different ?
Now you get to decide how you want it to look and operate. Your going to be the one doing this so you got some more work ahead of you... so you best get at it.( You actually didn't think it would be magically different by just rooting it did you ? ) That my friend is just the first step of the actual process..Now...go look at all of the different custom roms built for it and all of the different custom themes available..then... once you have a good idea of what you would like on your phone..start reading all you can about the rom & theme of your choice.Start at the beginning of the threads and read everything there..all of the issues and all the problems folks may have had and how they got fixed. This will save you a-lot of grief once your actually ready to make the switch.
I have found there are plenty of good folks here that will help you once you make up your mind of what you want to do to your phone..
Good Luck...& Good Reading to ya

hey OP, i followed your video last night and after a few unplugs, task kills, etc. finally rooted my device.
i also followed your step to not flash CWM when rooting, but realize I might want to do that now. is it just as simple as plugging in the device again, then changing the option to CWM and clicking Root in wugs tool?
TIA.

That is a fantastic question. I will attempt to do this and get back to you with a response.
I have always rooted my phones after their warranty period has expired. I was waiting to do this with my N7 also but I see the toolkit had the option to return to stock and relock the device so I assume there is no warranty issue. Also rooting has come a long way and gotten much simpler than 1 to 2 years ago when I was rooting my G1, think will be rooting my N7 this weekend

How To Unlock the Nexus 4 Bootloader

I found the below information on the Android Central website. Provides step by step instructions on how to unlock the bootloader and also the tools needed to accomplish the task. I take no credit for the information, I just wanted to pass it along to everyone else that may be interested. Peace.
http://www.androidcentral.com/how-unlock-nexus-4-bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
install super user
TADA you have root.
I'm surprised someone wrote an article on how to do this :\
This is not a locked down Verizon galaxy S3
Bootloader is unlockable via android-sdk fastboot
You boot a unsecure boot.img allowing mounting as root in adb
Push SU binaries and SuperSU (or superuser) apk over
tada reboot.

I complete agree with your post. However, there are a lot of people new to the Nexus (like myself) that may not know how to perform this task. Any step by step instructions (no matter how easy) are welcome. Peace bro.
If you're nervous about first-time unlocking and rooting, I'm positive there will be an all-in-one toolkit released shortly after the phone arrives. I'd always recommend learning how things actually work, but the toolkits are a great solution for people who aren't tinkerers and are only going to do it once.

Please please please, if you're trying to give someone helpful advice don't refer them to a toolkit. Have you seen how many post were in the galaxy nexus forums from people using that toolkit and when something went wrong they had absolutely no idea how to fix it.
If you'd really like to learn how to root this device please do it the right way and take the time to learn so when something goes wrong you have the know how to fix it, and also it really isn't difficult.
If you really feel the need to use a toolkit do so after you've learned the basics. Not trying to be a ****, so please don't take this post that way.

Sorry, but coming from an O2X, I have no idea how OTA works :S
Is it even safe to unlock a bootloader? Sorry, first time unlocking a bootloader in anything, and my first Nexus device as well..
Yes to both of the post above me.
In terms of warranty is there a fast way to lock the bootloader again ?

The more people know that rooting is a simple process, at least on a Nexus, the better off the Android scene becomes, as people untap the full power of their devices.

Does bootloader unlocking even void the warranty on Nexus devices?
Simple scripts and toolkits are fine as long as you know what they're doing and why.

I'm not sure if I just misunderstood this or what, but I want to clarify this a bit.
"Fastboot oem unlock" unlocks the bootloader. Correct.
Now, when you say "install super user", it looked like you were saying it like a command prompt.
Just to clarify for some people who don't know...That isn't a cmd prompt. You will have to boot into a custom recovery, then flash the su.zip.

It goes hand in hand.
If you unlock you want a recovery and super user.. so why unlock if you are not going to root.

Do not flash roms from international forum

Sorry, but there seems to be a new post every other day about people borking their Sprint phones because they flash a Rom from the "HTC One" forum.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
-------------------------------------
ROMS from the international forums WILL mess up your phone and you will be lucky to fix it after that! I get you want the shiny new 4.2.2 but those ROMS will not --I repeat-- WILL NOT WORK ON THE SPRINT HTC ONE.
Sure, they used to, but once they moved onto 4.2.2 they will not flash.
I feel this should be sticky in every thread on the Sprint HTC One forum.

Would this be helpful to anyone? It's kind of on/off topic... A direct link to HTC's copy of the HTC One update for Europe?
And by a direct link, I mean an HTC URL?
I mean, the proof is in the pudding...by which I mean the constant stream of "bricked plz help" threads.
So all of these stupid people that aren't reading prior to flashing and you think they are going to magically read this? I really hope this prevents a few but I doubt it.

From what I've seen all the major ROM's say in some fashion or another that it won't work for Sprint so it's mostly people just not reading. Maybe they could make the font about it possibly destroying phones if you are on Sprint bigger...and flashing...surrounded by naked women. Then maybe people will see it.
Unless your a Dev or know what your doing I wouldn't flash non sprint things... I know the partition labels and boot.IMG stuff so I have gotten things to work but not for a noobie
