Q: GPS.conf file in AOSP roms - Verizon LG G2

Why don't AOSP roms just include the gps.conf from stock (or Malladus, should be the same). I get quicker GPS locks with this version of the file.

Help with ROM from AOSP

I have made a rom using the AOSP source and everything is alright except one small detail. When I flash the google default epe54b rom, it will automatically detect my carrier mms and apn settings for internet. However, this little feature is not there with the AOSP rom. Where is this detail contained in? How can I get this feature into the AOSP rom?
Thanks.

eclair browser in enomthers official donut

the only thing that I dislike about this rom is that it uses the donut browser. is it possible to use the eclair browser on this rom? how? thanks.
Don't think so. You could grab the apk from cyan's rom and try to replace the browser, but there are frameworks that are needed which enomthers rom might not have.
I wonder if someone could make an update.zip to flash the eclair browser over existing roms?
To my knowledge it's in cyan's rom and on his github.
Be more specific on what you mean by existing roms, because most of them have the browser as far as the ones I have tested. Because Enomther uses official updates, then add-on's, he might not include those eclair bits (correct me if I am mistaken, I have never used his rom).

How do I port an application from 1 rom to another

Hi bit of a beginners questions but how do a port an application from one rom to another.
A am currently running MicroMod's 2.5 Rom but the FM radio isn't as good as the one on Cyanogen so I thought I would install it on Micromods rom.
This is what I tried, open up the nighlty build of NC rom, went to system/apps and copied the fm.apk to my sdcard. Then I installed it using Astro in Micromods but when I try to use it I get force closes.
I suspect it different or missing ddls files but unsure were to look to find this out.
Any ideas
Im pretty sure the fm.apk is linked to the CM6 framework so it would only work on CM6 atm...
I would also like to know the best way to do try to do this in general. Ive always wanted to put the browser from cm into an enom rom but the same thing happens as op said and it just fc's. If I were to use root explorer or 7zip to unzip the apk is there a specific place to look to see what other files need to be where in order for the apk to function properly?
it's pretty complicated which is why people tend to avoid it. You basically need to copy the right sections of Cyanogen's framework code into MicroMod's framework.. and since I believe MicroMod's ROM is based on HTC, that would involve some disassembly (look into smali/baksmali), but that would require some knowledge of assembly language.
It's a LOT of work, and a lot of testing (and swearing.. haha). Hate to discourage you.. but if anyone knows of a better (and more feasible) way I would love to hear it
I honestly doubt it's possible. CyanogenMod uses the MIUI method for the FM radio, which is most likely completely different than HTC's proprietary method. Kwazi is right though, it lies deep within the framework.

[Q] Network problems (RIL) with latest Beanstalk 4.4

Hi,
I installed 2 weeks ago the latest Beanstalk 4.4.4010 CM-based and I really liked it, it is a very nice ROM and increased the life and performance of my phone by a lot.
At the beginning everything was fine, but now after 2 weeks I am having again the same network problems (losing connectivity, not being able to recover signal, and so on) that I had with my old CM ROM.
After reading a bit around in the forum, I found that there is this RIL change solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2496075
But since this is a bit older, I don't know if it has been already implemented or not in the recent Beanstalk updates or if I still have to do it. And also if this only works with the P880-dev based ROMs or also with the CM based ones. It is difficult to say when one has to read so many threads.
Also an user uploaded a flashable zip fix of the RIL for the AD version. Does this mean that I can flash the P880-dev based ROM with AD and then just flash this zip and would avoid having to do the procedure of the above tutorial?
Is there another flashable alternative for me?
I also read somewhere that NamelessRom wasn't having this issue, so do you recommend to switch?
Thanks,
SC.
there are still several versions of RIL; i recommend you try a few of them till you find out the one that works.
the zip that was made for the AD version of rom works only and only with that specific rom, made on that specific date. any rom that was built after (or before) needs to have different flashable zip.
i do recommend you try nameless rom first (take a backup of beanstalk). take it for a spin for a few hours/days and see if you have any network issues. if you do not, you can extract RIL from nameless rom & implement it in beanstalk. good luck

Thanks, then I'll try my luck with Nameless. I hope I will not miss it much.
There isn't yet something like dual booting in Android, no?
Cheers,
S
There is for our device, search for twrp multirom. Its a bit of a hassle to set up properly thoguh

Recomendations for stock based roms and kernel

Hi I'm fairly new but I install cm13 and all of that stuff but the camera doesn't convice me as stock rom.
I would like to know if there is a stock based rom(Lollipop not MM) with minimal bloatware and a kernel as complement for better performance.
Thanks in advance

Yeah, there are roms based on stock, but nowadays they're not updated anymore and they have a lot of bugs. I was like you when I was getting into custom roms - I didn't like any rom lacking something from stock. As advice, don't install any MM rom yet. They're all bugged with a touch delay issue and are not as stable as stock MM is.
My setup is the following:
Minimal OS: Best rom so far for this device, smooth, and it's unbloated as hell that you even have to install your own SMS and calendar app (I installed a kitkat based ones from the play store). Other fast roms that you could try are OrionLP (LL, it's aosp based, fast too) and Exodus (as last resort, every CM-based rom is usually bloated and slower than aosp-based ones).
SlimGapps (smallest package): Just because OpenGapps doesn't install an essential component by default.
Halogen Kernel R14: Best custom kernel for this phone. Using Intelliactive governor and my phone feels even faster than a Xperia M4. Obviously you gotta tweak it to get the most from our proc.
As for the camera stuff, you can try flashing Moto's camera and gallery + a zip that's posted somewhere that enables SloMo recording. It works in any rom, but a tweaked Minimal OS setup in this device will surely make you not want to try another cm/MM rom never again.

Well, thank you very much for the information. I will definitely try minimal os and halogen. But the camera I'm still a little confused because i try in cm 12.1 a zip that install the gallery and camera but it wasn't the new ones(material design) and oddly camera doesn't allow me to save on sd card. If you can help me with the link of the post or thread for the moto camera that you recommend. I will appreciate a lot.

I don't have a clue as I use it on Minimal OS, so it maybe CM's fault.
There I attach 2 files that enable SloMo on any custom rom. One is from my rom, which I edited by adding some cm's commits and the later (mediaprofiles2) one is from a zip. You need to put and give them proper permissions on /system/etc. Remember to rename it to media_profiles.xml
