The first day I had it, I woke up around 8:00 AM and got to about 6:00 PM when it ran out of juice. This was with heavy use, screen always on and brightness set to about 60%.
I changed the settings so that the screen is not always on and brightness is now set to 40%. This made a huge difference. Today, for example, I've already had it off the charger for 8 hours and it's still at 79% battery. I'm at work, and it's getting used as it normally would be.
The screen being set to always on will obviously burn through battery at a fairly quick rate, especially if the brightness is set high. It's worth noting that letting the screen turn off automatically does not impede its usefulness. The screen comes on automatically when your turn your writes to look at the device, and when you touch the screen.

100% @ 7:30 a.m. & @ 31% battery as of this post, 9:20 p.m. with heavy use throughout the day. I had the screen @ always on through the majority of the day; however switched to off @ around 7 p.m.

So which mode will you run daily? Screen-off?

Screen off for sure. It comes on automatically when I go to look at it, and I want to conserve battery.

Undocked at 8 AM with 100% charged, used till mid night with heavy usage with 32% left when got to bed. Very impressed with battery performance. I am using default settings (brightness - 4, Always-on screen, showing cards on dimmed screen, alert on watch and phone when connected).

Unplug at 7:30am @11pm still 49% battery but my note 3 battery goes down, i have to plug it in the afternoon.
My battery usage on my phone shows android wear being the main culprit.
Before that, I could last all day in one charge.

unplugged at 8a.m. plugged back in around 1:30a.m. about 18% left.
Screen set to "always on", brightness set to "4".
I'm not sure what constitutes heavy usage, but I do look at my screen and do a couple of swipes about every 15 minutes or so, unless I'm expecting an email or something.

Why do you need the screen always on?
The screen on when you look at it functions really well, and saves a lot of battery.
I unplug at 6.45 am. Still got 60% by 10.30 pm

Wow, guys, what am I doing wrong?
I take mine off charge when I get up at 5.30 AM.
It's down to 85% by the time I leave the house at 7am (it's maybe had the screen on for a total of a minute maximum).
I lose roughly 10% an hour (with maximum "screen on" time of a minute or 2 an hour.
It's below 20% by 3 or 4pm.
So I thought it might be that I had brightness on 4/5, so I've changed to 1/5, but still, it's little better. I might get an extra hour maybe.
I like the idea of it, and when it's alive, it's great. But for me, I'm struggling to get 10-12 hours, with low use.
i'm gonna try it tomorrow with Screen-off mode enabled.
I'd happily accept charging it every night, but I'm struggling to get half a day here.

There's definitely something wrong there. I would try unpairing and resetting the watch (the only thing you'll lose is fitness data).
Then I'd uninstall Android wear from the phone, reset the phone and start all over again.

Thanks.
Gonna try that now..........

i agree, there's something not right in your situation.
i took mine off at 11am and it's almost 3am now and i'm at 43% screen always on and moderate use

Got mine on Thursday. Since then it's off the charger for 16h/day. Setting is always on. Indoor I usually keep the brightness at 1 since I really don't need more. Outdoor it's always at 5.
I always end my day with 20-30% left.
One thing I noticed is colourful watch face kill the battery. Specifically while driving since the brightness it at 5 at the screen come on often while driving or doing other activities.

Having reset the watch as suggested, It does seem greatly improved for me.
It came off charge this morning at 7am, so by now I'd normally be down to maybe 30-40%, but I'm currently still on 82%.
Thanks for the suggestion - it looks like it may have solved it.

I'd normally end the day with about 50% left. Two days ago I installed Pinterest and Fancy to see what the interface is like. The next day I ended the day at 7%. Today by around 4pm I was down to 30%.
i uninstalled both apps, charged it up, and the battery usage seems to have gone back to normal.

On my watch the battery is not that great comparing to some of you. Have you activated some battery saving options ?

Mine comes off charge at around 7am. By 10pm I'm usually around 25-35% battery. Usage is light to medium, with screen set to always on at default brightness.

i think it generally comes down to how much you interact with the watch. while i have somewhat moderate usage, the interaction time with the screen fully lit is fairly short, a majority of the day my watch is in the low power screen state (b&w mode) and i think that prolongs the battery quite a bit since it is a samoled screen and i'm sure the processor drops down to a low power state.
a lot of my use is swiping away notifications and navigation (but while in navigation the watch is mostly in the low power state since it shows my next step on that screen)

I'm not interacting that much with it, but each time I turn my wrist, the screen turns on, and I think that's the problem. The B&W mode is nice, when I just want to use it like a real watch the B&W mode is sufficient, is there a way to stay in B&W mode when I turn my wrist, but still have the vibrations on?
Thanks.

Battery life and Charging time

I've owned the Samsung Focus S now for 12 days. I came from an android bionic. I have owned Windows Phones before, the Venue Pro and the Hd7. But this is my first Samsung.
For the first few days, the battery life was fine, a full day. But this past week I find my self hard pressed to reach a full work day. I don't play music during the day nor do I have many, if any calls. Mostly SMS and internet.
I've turned off as many background tasks as acceptable, limited the number of live tiles, set brightness to auto, and check email off of push. Yet this morning I reached 20% in about 8 hours.
In addition, I find the time to charge is extremely long. It might take 4-6 hours to fully charge from 80%.
Is this normal for a Samsung?? My other windows phones, and my bionic certainly do no present the same battery problems as this one does.
Thoughts, or is this usual?
Do you have wi-fi turned on? This is a real battery burner...
My Focus S usually goes through about a day and a half before I need to recharge. That's with a few phone calls, some messages, a bit of wi-fi browsing at night, etc. Email only gets checked every hour but it's on 3 different accounts.

while I'm home WiFi is on. Away from home its off. This is normal behavior for all my phones. All of them last at least 18-24 hrs, under the same condition.
Took it back to art. They said , lets try a different battery. I'm willing to try it for now.
I just wanted to add to this as I seem to be experiencing a similar issue.
I purchased my phone at the end of Dec, it's been great.
Now, since around a week ago I've been having issues. I used to get roughly 2 days use per charge and it used to charge quickly.
Now, the phone runs hot, the battery drains in 6 hours or less, and it takes many hours to recharge.
I turned off the one app running in the background. I turned off wi-fi. It doesn't seem to help. The battery itself doesn't seem to be too hot, but it's hard to judge.

I did a factory reset, and got a new battery. I then reinstalled less than half of my existing apps. In addition I've set my display brightness to medium.
Battery life has doubled, and the charging is much quicker.
Read an article yesterday about ads in free apps eating about 35% more battery. Who knows.
Even if they're running in the background? My Focus S takes a lot of time to charge and decharges so fast. 35% is no joke.

I'm also having some kind of battery issue, I have 2 batteries and they are both 100% charged but by the end of the day one is completely dead and the other is about 20%. I use my phone a lot for music and browsing over 4g and WiFi, but I charge by battery to 100% then go to the battery saver setting and at 100% it says time remaining about 5 hours. An when I turn on battery saver it says about 6 hours. On a full charge this seems crazy. Also with the homebrew battery monitor app. It says my phone is using over 4000mV. With screen set to low and in airplane mode. This is wierd.

4000mV? I assume you mean mA? not mV? 4000mV is only 4V which is about right, your voltage shouldn't change much, perhaps +-10% tops
if you do in fact mean Amps...
4000mA is 4A an hour, your battery would be dead in about 20 min at that rate and probably in fire as well
So, lets look at this in a different way,
2 batteries, that's about 3.3Ah max, you only had about 20% left in one which is approx 330mA so lets call it an even 3A of juice burned during your day.
An Average long day at work 12 hours
that's 250mAh current draw every single hour of that 12 hour day.
250 is quite high, but normal with the screen on and high brightness an wifi, however that isn't normal if you are normal and don't sit at your phone each hour for an hour for a whole day.
Things that can send your phone off on a amp burning spree? most common one is the backlight, set it to auto, and have a dark /black theme, AMOLED is the opposite to normal LCD screens where having a white background was best,
Next up is your signal strength, low 3G signal will eat your battery (4G is worse but thankfully we don't have that)
keep battery saving on all the time, it only kicks in when it needs to but I have seen dramatic differences having it turned off even with a full battery, im not sure what it changes when its not down to low battery but it does something.
background tasks can play a part but are minimal on WP.
I have 3 accounts on push sync, wifi and Bluetooth always on (but not always connected), I use it a lot during the day including several phone calls and web browsing, I start work at 8am, finish at 7 or 8 PM and im still sitting with 50% battery...
that works out at an average of just under 70mAh. that's about the normal level id expect, its double that if I turn battery saver off (even though it wont kick in until the last hour of the day)
oh I can make it go quicker when I show off the full capability's of our screens too

First night on battery

I let it charge to 100% around 1am, unplugged and work up at 730am. Battery was on 85%. No use at all.
During regular use it seems to drain quickly. I've disabled probably 20 apps.

I'm pretty happy with my battery life so far
Does Verizon have an immediate ota update like tmobile? I didn't he update right away and seems solid enough. Not as good as my g3, but way smaller of a battery in the edge.
Disable the Amazon App Suite from Applications manager. This has been the culprit for every carrier on the S6. If you use Amazon app store, download it through amazon directly (it is a different app than the one included with the phone).
Your problem will be solved right away!!
Also, the Edge display (not the contact color part, but the clock and news feed) is a battery drain.
another problem with alot of s6 owners, aside from the stock amazon app, is there has been alot of battery drain if using wifi. I had wifi on most of the time and noticed a drain from cell standby... once you turn off the wifi that never comes up and drain is perfectly fine... no cell standby battery drain...
My battery was terrible the first day, ok the second day, and far better today. Seems like it has a time it needs to settle down.
I haven't gotten >3.5 hours screen on time yet. Which kind of stinks.
Disabled a few more apps today, will see if they helps any.
Sure have been getting use out of the quick charging though.

Sorry, I didn't look at that before I plugged it in.
Almost 6 hrs of screenon time use, Netflix for 30 mins...Facebook and texting. Screen set at around 30% brightness. Happy with my S6.
Not disappointed in how short the overall battery is...it does what I want and need it to do.
Yesterday my phone was dead from 6am to 6pm today at 5pm still have 47% left and I definitely used it more today. Better with age?
Hello I just gave my first full charge to my phone and the cell stand by is at the top, is there a way to avoid this or we going to accept to live with it, thanks for your help.
my battery wasn't too bad either

Little worried battery life

First day after 8 hours I am at 49%
My last watch would last me all day and I end the day at 49%
I like dark watch faces, first day did not charge the default brightness.
I like to have an ambient watch face (I do not want to press a button to get time) last watch kept ambient watch face on.
Two questions,
Can it last a day (a day for me is 16hours) ?
What settings do you use ?
This is very annoying 3 years and android wear devices I am still concerned I can not make if from when I remove it from a charger at 6am to when I can charge it again sometimes 2 or 3am the following day.
Mine goes from 5:30 am to 9:30pm and still has about 40% charge left.
With screen off mode I usually end the day at around 48% 6:30 to 8:00
Try turning auto brightness off. It works for me.
Two suggestion:
- Always ON / Ambience Display + disable tilt to wake
- Disable Always On + Enable tilt to wake
It will last you more than 24 hours.
One last suggestion: Enable Always ON + Enable Tilt to Wake + Auto Brightness, but you use long sleeve shirt.
So when it was unintentionally awake because of your hand movement, auto brightness will keep brightness at minimum because it is inside your sleeve (dark).
Recently switched Always ON off
and more significantly Tilt to Wake off
Getting 4 DAYS battery life
(Projected, currently at 30 hrs)
Turn WiFi off as well. That drains a ton.
Sent from my OnePlus 3 using XDA Labs
Yeah you really don't need always on and tilt to wake on.
I had this issue as well; watch draining really fast, wouldn't even last a day. I tried a number of things and I found out what works for me. Some will say turn off Wifi, others will say turn off Gestures. I did both of those, but they did not really amount to any great savings.
I reset my phone a couple days back and was forced to do the same to the watch. Once I was back up and all connected, I went into Android Wear app on my phone, pressed the gear (settings), clicked on my Asus ZenWatch 3 name, and ONLY turned off "Tilt to wake Screen". I left ALL OTHER settings alone. THIS my friend is what did it for me. As I type this, it's 2:40 p.m. my time (AST). I unplugged my watch this morning at 6:25 a.m. and I'm currently sitting at 70% battery power on my watch.
I look at it frequently, do voice commands, change watchfaces, install new ones, etc... from this morning till now. Oh...I leave the "always on" alone too. The watchfaces do their ambient faces and I love it. Best watch I ever had. I hope this helps someone.
Not surprising that the watches are a lot like the phones. The same model/year phone can have greatly different battery life with similar uses. Since owning my first smartphone, the first and original Droid, rooting and altering widgets and such, I've always had an issue with battery life. I'd have a dead phone by 1pm with normal to low use, while a friend with the same phone plays with it and gets 3 days.
The watches seem to be the same, and I think I play with mine more than normal, yet am happy with the battery life. I joke with the wife that we both have "charging issues" in that she can't remember to charge her device (phone) and I constantly have to be plenty charged and have charging capabilities wherever I will be. With a quick 10 minute charge in the afternoon or evening (if that at all) I can use and play with the watch all day, sleep with it on to track sleep quality, and I charge it when I get up to shower and my normal bathroom morning routine. This gets it back to 100%.
Although happy with it, I've been adjusting my settings based on usage, and not with a high PITA ratio. Always On set to off, tilt to wake on, and screen on for 10-15 seconds. But I have often thought that the tilt to wake was using battery unnecessarily as my work alone has me moving my arm around all the time. I'm going to try the settings above and see if there's an improvement. It makes sense turning off the Tilt To Wake, and will see if the savings is more than the usage from turning the ambient back on.
I bought this to replace a broken LG G watch R, so far after using it for a week it seems to have half the battery life with the same settings / use

Battery life a bit odd? Amongst other things

Hi all, bit of background, I had my Z3c for just over 2 years and 6 months, heard the news about the XZ1c and soon as it was out I jumped at the chance of buying it.
Sadly, I haven't bonded too well with it.
Compared to my Z3c the battery life hasn't been all that good even using stamina. That's with minimal screen on time too. My Z3c used to do almost 2 days, this I can get a day and that's barely! Greenify is in use to kill apps etc.
After a full charge with battery care enabled I'm losing a load of charge and God knows where...!
SwiftKey absolutely sucks on this phone unless I have stamina turned off.
Vibration is bad, I've had to turn it off on the keyboard.
I also want to find a way to mod the stamina mode 3 so it's device performance but kills data too just as per the Z3C.
I'll attach some screen shots too so you can see what I mean... Just a bit disappointed.
Your experience is similar to mine. I have about 30% left when the day is over and that is with having about 2-3 hours of screen time. I turned off the majority of location and updates and keep screen brightness to a minimum. Despite not being as good as what I was expecting, it's better than the Pixel I had before this phone which couldn't make it through my usual 16 hour day without being plugged in.
that an estimated time only, depending on your history use.
but yeah z3c was kinda king with battery... i dont think this one will be. Sna835 is powerefficientier but remember that apps will be alway hungrier too.
It's better than majority of phones on the market... I think the Z3C spoilt us though, it was definitely king, even at its age it still gives well over 36 hours use.
Im having a great time with my xz1c.
My first charge
My first full charge is pretty good 51 hours alive with 5,5 hours screen on time.
I have disabled vibrations when typing, manual screen brightness (most of the time set at about 1/3), sync on all the time, Wi-Fi and LTE enabled all the time
Use gmaps, chrome, played 1:40h heavy game... Im satisfied with it..
The only strange thing I see is high battery drop over night.
It goes more than 10%, I was hoping for 3%. Phone idle battery consumption is on top then. I hope it will change in the future ROMs.
Do you guys see it also?

well see if there is app eating your battery in the battery stats. if yes than choose the option on the app to limit it on background. Dont forget to limit its data plan on background too in the data plan menu.
reboot the phone. close all aps and go to sleep.
tell us if something changed.

I've noticed that Google Play Services seems to get the hump if you have any extended stamina mode. When I check app battery usage with stamina mode on, GPS is one of the top users. But not there with stamina mode off. If fact stamina mode seems to use more battery than if its turned off. I need to do a few more charges to confirm.
Battery life is excellent btw, better than any phone I have had before. Regularly getting to three days of use.
I have power mode activated with zx1 compact I disable the vibration jacket and some useless application kindeXXX is still improved battery life

So it's been a few days! So far I've:
- Changed my SwiftKey setting to vibration off,
- stamina mode changes to performance orientated instead of battery life biased like before,
- auto brightness off
- Limited MANY app's background data and background running as above (cheers for that mate)
- priority mode on to alert me of important calls only, everything else just uses the notification light with no sounds.
I'm now finally, because of the above, beginning to see 2 days battery life almost 3 days last week!
Still more to do for good battery like instead of just stamina mode On like on the Z3C but hey I guess I can live with it!
So as happy as I am... Still can't get to the bottom of why it loses the first 10% so fast?! Check this out, taken off charge like just over an hour ago and I've lost 4% already!
From 80% onwards it lasts a good while but damn man why's it losing the initial 10% or so that fast?!
This is my battery life for the last few days, it's been good... But this is doing my head in, losing first 10%so fast...
... And I've lost another 2% since that last post! Ffs man.

Lost 15% of the battery while my 10hr sleep today. Very strange. My Z3c used to eat no more than 3% without any limitations, closing apps or stamina mode.

Question [Help] SOT

It is my second day with the phone. Exyons version. I charged it 100% and left home at 5pm and here were are 11:40 pm 21% with 2hours 44 mins SOT
How?
4g enabled about 40 mins
I only used camera, google maps, a little facebook and uber.
Bluetooth enabled for the watch and the buds.
No wifi. No nfs.
Adaptive refresh rate and 1080p resolution after it dropped to 60%.
What have I done wrong?
This is very similar to my situation but I have snapdragon version my SOT is not that good get about 2-3 hours with 8 hours of use. I already resetting my phone once I'm currently still going through the learning usage pattern after my reset. Hopefully it improves because I'm hoping that my phone is not defective.
I thought about resting the phone but I have already downloaded about 20gb of games :/
I will wait couple days to see maybe the phone is still learning usage pattern . Please keep us updated if SOT got improved with you
I sincerely advise you to do a factory reset, don't restore any data (except stuff like picture and video) and start again installing apps, don't install everything, just the necessary and check the battery, you will see a big improvement.
start from there and then look at the difference.
different apps can behave differently.
And of course put anything you don't constantly use to deep sleep in battery setting!
I did it and my battery now is totally fine.

Question for you. What is normal battery draining for you. For example, if you leave your phone over night usually how much percent does your phone drop. And how long does it take your phone to drop by 1% obviously this last question depends on what app you're using but ideally on average how long does it take your phone to drop by 1%. The reason I'm asking is Because I kind of want to gage how my phone Is performing compared to others. Thanks!
Yea what's been said above, don't use smart switch and give it about a week to settle in, you will genuinely see an improvement.
Put all apps you don't use regularly/ need notifications from in deep sleep. If you have crap signal at home turn on WiFi calling. Turn off nearby decide scanning in connections.
If you're still struggling after a week, download GSAM as it gives much more detailed stats
I lose around 0.5% an hour overnight on standby

on average I lose 0,6-0,7%/h when the screen is off and an average of 10%/h when the screen is on.
fhd+, bt with smartwatch, location off, mostly on wi-fi (when I'm on wifi I use a Bixby routine to turn off data and switch to 2g but I don't think it makes much difference), lots of apps to deep sleep but not apps like whatsapp telegram and gmail.
anyway, everything depends on your specific use and apps installed but I can say my battery life was half than now when I restored my settings and apps data using samsung stuff.

Thank you. I will do a factory reset and update you guys later
I heard that uwb application is the culprit. Many users reported worst battery life with it. It's something related to 5g ultra wide band. Hopefully future update fixes it. Check below thread on how you can remove it. Not sure what functionality gets impacted by removing it
What is Uwb Application and how do I stop it??
So this morning I noticed this app I've never seen before, Uwb Application hogged 14%. I've never seen it before. What does it do and how do I stop it? I recently installed microg and YouTube vanced? Does this have anything to do with these apps...

FHD+/120hz/5g off/smart things off/ everything else normal
Overnight loss is about 2-3%
From 100% to 99% withing 3 minutes after wake up in the morning. That's turning screen on checking Facebook, or browse news.
My Huawei P30 pro would go 99% probably after 30 or 40 min of morning browsing
iPhone 12 pro max I am testing now, stays 100% for about an hour fr a wake up, that's browsing internet social networks

To measure battery loss from 100-99 is meaningless. The last several generations of the iPhone have behaved like this but clearly this has no real meaning, Which is more accurate? From that clearly the Samsung is the "least worse". To stay at 100% for an hour is absurd. BS calibration. Similar for the P30 Pro. Overnight loss of 2-3% is par for the course (I lose -using GSAM Pro - 0.6% per hour overnight which is probably very similar to you) So ignore a 1% drop in 3 minutes. It is just a matter of calibration.
Edit - added per hour re the 0.6% to clarify.
iOS is lying about battery percentage. If you see 100% it's in 100-95% range.
Anyway, it has more efficient deep sleep.
Yeah. Shouldn't the battery only be at 100 while it's plugged in? Cause as soon as you unplug it, it's obviously using the battery juice...which means it's no longer at 100.
I'm not sure if these Temps and cpu usage are normal, which I don't feel like it's normal, but every time I pick up my phone My phone is just running at 100% cpu usage. Granted I already reset my phone two days ago and got two full charges in. And my battery says it's still learning usage pattern. I'm not sure if this is part of the learning usage pattern phase.

Wait at least 3 full days after setting up a new Android phone before you assess battery life and SOT.
I have exynos S21U and get 8 or 9 hrs SOT with the 90Hz screen refresh rate mod.

How?
4g enabled about 40 mins
I only used camera, google maps, a little facebook and uber.
Bluetooth enabled for the watch and the buds.
No wifi. No nfs.
Adaptive refresh rate and 1080p resolution after it dropped to 60%.
What have I done wrong?
