hey guys I hear that miui is great on battery life just wondering if anyone can confirm this. Also I heard that there was a problem with swype on miui. Is that problem still there. Thanks for help on these two issues.

MIUI battery life is excellent, although I may not be the best source because I take obsessively good care of my batteries. Swype works great, you just need to search around on the net to find installation instructions because MIUI's way of handling keyboards is a little different. Overall though, I highly recommend you try it out, so far it is my favorite ROM, and I keep coming back to it!
i take real good care of battery too. it rarely leaves my phone.
Lol I only take out my battery when my phone requires me to. I think I might just buy a bigger battery or phone.

mugen makes good batteries. i got mine on a black friday sale. i've hardly used though it will get some use on my upcoming vacation.

it might be best if u actually try it yourself
it would actually make a difference depending on yr setup and how u want it to function
but there were reports of the rom reaching 48 hours...
but nevertheless i have also seen cm7 reaching nearly 3 days..

Basically I've been a windows mobile user for ages now, had the omnia i900 for quite some time now, and i think its time to move on.
I've been thinking allot of buying this phone because it has an excellent value for money. Simplyelectronics.com has it listed for like 300 euros and here in my country(Cyprus) its 550 or something, which is ALLOT. So I've read allot of reviews and everything, but I would like to know what YOU guys think, how it is for everyday use.
Any problems or annoying stuff about it, and also if it's easy to use and easy to carry around, although is that big.
I really appreciate it.

I changed to a custom rom almost immediately after I got my phone, so not sure about the stock software. I am using DJDroid rom atm, and I like the battery life and have no problem with everyday use.
It should be the best value for money phone until xiaomi phone arrives.
Hardware good, software bad, customize it and it's a goodun.
I'm also very interested in this phone. This is mainly because of it's killer hardware as well as the poor software as this has caused the price to fall to a reasonable level. Poor software can easily be fixed by flashing a custom Rom/kernel.

I dunno what anyone has agaisnt the stock rom with the exception of the bloatware crap that lg bundle in with it i havnt had any issues, no overheating, no random shutdowns or restarts, its been fast and responsive.
Maybe some people just dont know how to use their phone and have to get cyanogen to handle it for them.

BT Audio? Really? Just A2DP or other audio-related profiles?
I was aware of A2DP issues with certain ROMs, but are you aware of any issues with the HSP (headset profile)?

Feels good actually, not sure what others are about, been using mine with the rom it came with, has 2.2.2 on it and gets 3 days per charge easy (still over 50% battery at end of 3rd day), and have not had any issues with it.

Do you turn off your phone when you don't use it?
I have no idea you get 3 days out of it. I play 3 hours on mine, and battery is gone. What ril, baseband, rom, settings you use?
it's one of the best phone out there.. those said this phone s*cks must never tried to fix, so they given up this phone.. all you need is root, custom ROMs, and there you go.

what ROM? what RIL? what Baseband? Data Connection Disabled?? Airplane Mode?? Turn-off at night???

Hi guys, I got this phone for free with bell mobility as my 2nd phone for my business line. I'm going to be using this phone only to make phone calls. No internet, ever. No wifi, maybe some bluetooth once in a while. No games, no apps. I have a Galaxy nexus for that.
Which rom would be the best for good battery life?

Talking about the battery life and from personal experience,I would suggest using MIUI rom. The battery lasts for at least 2-3 days(for me) with normal use(wifi,music etc),so should go a far way if only used for calls.
Alternatively, if you prefer Sense UI,I've heard good things about the battery life of Android Revolution HD.
Finally,it's always best to just test several roms yourself in real life situations for several days,and then picking the rom which suits you best.
after playing with it a bit I'm not a big fan of sense...

What version of MIUI do you use? There are so many I was going to wait for the updated galnetmiui ics one.
I would take the CM7 Nightly#146 and edit the .zip file and remove all the .apk files from system/app that you don't need.
That will give you a very light ROM.
I didn't want to post this in the development thread because this was more of a question than anything else and I'm a firm believer of keeping things where they belong in the forums. I was looking at Hashcode's CM10.1 ROM for the Bionic and from what I can tell it is fairly stable. My Dad asked me to look into finding something that would give him a more stable experience with better battery life on his bionic. I think that stressing more battery life is the key here. Currently, he is running stock 4.0.4 and says it drives him crazy how frequently he has to recharge his phone. Having had the VZW Galaxy Nexus before, I understand his woes but I wanted to make sure I wasn't going down a bad path by rooting his device at all.
Basically, with the parts from above taken into consideration, what would be the best option in terms of a ROM or kernel for this device?
I highly appreciate everyone's feedback.

In previous versions, Eclipse was extremely good. However, I am not too sure about it now, as I use Blurrymaxx.
I've flashed everything I could DL and Eclipse 1.3 is, hands down, the best daily driver with all things considered. The CM10.1 nightlies are getting better pretty quickly but BT audio still has problems and the graphics are twitchy.
If your pops really wants to enjoy his phone I would highly recommend dropping the ~$40 to get a OEM extended battery/cover. It was a bit bulky/awkward for me at first but it keeps me from having to pack around a charger.

Thanks for the replies, all. I will look into the ROMs you mentioned. I would tell him to get the OEM extended battery/cover but he is one of those people that likes to have it clipped to his hip all of the time and he has it in an otterbox case which works with the clip. Does Eclipse or BlurryMaxxx get particularly good battery life because that seems to be his number one concern. I wrote a review/coverage of the UNPACKED conference and the Galaxy S4 on my website the other day and he read it so now all he can think about is upgrading to the S4 so maybe that's the route we'll be taking haha
I purchased the LG L90 last week, and am now using it as a daily driver (WOOT WOOT). I have retired my old phone (Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G).
I currently have questions about this phone, I love it overall, but some things are kind of bugging me out a bit:
1. Signal & Service: I understand this device is not LTE capable, but my internet speeds are slower than my Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G (which is a really old phone, in a tehcinical perspective), my speeds on "4G" max out to around ~10-11 Mbps where my old phone usually hit ~15-25 Mbps. Furthermore, my Wi-Fi speeds are slower, for example, when I am at work, my iPod can easily pick up ~42 Mbps, but on the LG L90, it barely its ~15 Mbps. Is this just an issue with the phone? I really want to resolve these issues, as the speed does make a difference for me.
2. GPS: I no longer have a physical GPS, as I figured our phones can do the job now, and my old phone did a great job at it. I don't want to say the L90 is bad, but there is some noticable lag, and at times, the GPS is unable to detect where I am physically located. I live in Seattle, so I figured beign a major metro-city, this should not be an issue, any solutions to resolving this?
3. Current ROM: I am running everything at stock, as I don't want to root just yet (warrenty purposes). That being said, if I were to go on a app and hit the home screen, there are those moments where I can see the lag processing all my apps and widgets, as I only see my wallpaper for a few seconds. There is also a crap load of T-Mobile software that I feel like are draining my battery, any possible way to delete that as well?
4. Battyery Life: Obviously, this phone is a better battery life than other phones, but are their best tips/advice on preventing battery drainage? I am a college student, so I am always on the go, and really woud love something that is stable, to also last me the entire day. Any advice on charge cycles and what not? I usually just charge my phone when I am about to go to bed (around 11 or 12 PM) and unplug it after I wake up in the morning.
Those are all my questions/issues... I really love this phone, and bought a nice case and screen protector and it just looks beyond awesome (better than the iPhone 6 ) I would appreciate any help/support you guys have to resolve these issues for me!
It's good idea to install another ROM like CM11 - it makes a big difference compared to stock one, also could mostly solve your issues, but can't provide any proof on that since I don't use these features at all. I know your warranty is void in exact moment of rooting, but it's not a problem to install stock rom again, and at service most of time these guys are too lazy to check logs
If installing a ROM is seriously the only option, what is the MOST stable ROM out there? I honestly don't want to go back and forth trying different ROMs, as at this point, I really do not have the time to do that... I guess any ROM that is stable, fast, and of course light (so my battery's potential is kept to the max!)

I was comparing it to my old phone, which does not have LTE, instead it also has HSDPA+.
I'd love to use your ROM, but I also am looking for something that his minimal issues... perfect for a Daily Driver, and never looking back. I really am not into reinstalling ROMs every few days, like some people do, I'd just like to stick onto one thing and go from there.

I've been working feverishly to fix the issues my ROM has. I've worked out most of the issues but while doing so I managed to introduce a new one. Lol. Go figure. Keep an eye on my thread. Ill hopefully be uploading an update with most issues fixed within the next few days.

Woah, what ROM is that you are using? Battery Life on stock is not bad (At least compaed to my previous phone ) but I was trying to go towards the direction of, what are some good tips/advice to saving battery life and what not.
Question: Are you always on 4G? That is completly insane that you manage to pull off that much battery life!

Ah okay. I will keep my eye out for now, once your ROM is close to 100% (there is no such thing as "perfect" haha) do let me know... I respect all the developers who volunteer their time to create these tools available for us, but I also value my time a whole lot!

I'm on the stock D415 with my personal debloating. I don't use greenify or anything, all I have is xposed and gravity box on. Got rid of all the T-mobile crap and the lookout anti virus And yes for the most part I'm in 4g all the time.
Edit: Almost forgot, always have bluetooth, wifi and high battery location services

Do you mind sharing how you did all that? I currently avoid turning on things like Bluetooth while I drive because I am scared of draining the battery (even though I can always charge it) but I also want to keep the charge cycle consistent.
Another question, any good suggestions for Maps? Is Google Maps the best solution out there? I have tried Waze (personally dislike it) and currently am experimenting with Sygic maps, but want to see other options out there as well...

I had D415 last night and tested GPS a bit today with Copilot Live USA. The first test in the morning was terrible. The phone took half hour to get a fix, then was swinging between fix and lost every other minute during my commute to work for more than one hour. The second test was great on the way back to home:good:. GPS took <30s to get a fix, and hardly lost any connection, only a few seconds during the 90-minute trip.
SO what did make the difference? I believe the GPS chip in L90 is not great, but workable. It needs sometime to warm up before starting to work. The first test was running Copilot immediately after turning GPS chip on. There is no warm up time, resulting in disaster navigation. The GPS chip was then turned on the entire day, so the second test was almost perfect.
For D415, turn on GPS chip at least 30 minutes prior to using navigation. This way may keep you away from flaky problem.
