[Q] Which ROM to install? - Sprint HTC One (M7)

I'm sure "everyone" asks which ROM to install for the Sprint HTC One M7, but there are many, and my main goal is getting up to Android 4.4x with something solid.
I do want to root my phone, and I'm on the latest TWRP. Does that limit my options?

Greetings,
These type of threads are not allowed everyone has their own opinion of what's best/solid.
Best thing to do is read and flash and find out what's best/solid for you.

Thanks,

Nexus Root newbie question

Hello;
I read about the new rooting method without unlocking the phone and it's very interesting to me
my question is, after i root my phone this way, is it a must to flash another recovery ? or can i just root the phone and leave everything as it is(Stock Rom and Recovery)
i am running FRF83 now and the phone is completely stock, only OTA updates
i want to root to flash updates regarding Arabic support only and still can install official OTA
please help because i don't understand the Rooting idea and it's benefit
regards
Sigh, I guess no one under stands what android DEVELOPMENT means, mods please move to correct section.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
here they are talking about Root in other threads, inside the Development Forum
i think i posted in the right place
and you may have helped instead of asking to move it
From my understanding its not a must to install another recovery such as the RA one that was referenced. You can leave it with the stock ROM and you should be able to flash one with Arabic support. Bit from my understanojy as well you wont be able to get the OTA updates.
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
people say you may receive or manually install Official OTA with stock recovery if the device is still locked and rooted via the new rooting method
and this is what i want to make sure of
thanks for your reply
Moved as not Android Development.

You would do yourself a better service by searching and looking in the "sticky" threads above, in the correct section, instead of expecting people to answer you when you post in incorrect one. And it's excellent that they don't answer there, this makes people learn not to do it again.
To your question: the only prerequisite for installing official updates / OTA is having a stock recovery. Both with unlocked bootloader and with "barely working" method stock recovery can be flashed in place, allowing updates. The only question is - why would anyone need it, having the update file here before 90% of the users get "OTA waiting" notifications every time.
You can learn, what rooting means and what it's needed for, if you read "stickies" and look around this forum a bit. It's a question asked by almost everyone.

Remove root from htc incredible

I have the droid incredible with Virtuous-v3.2.0 and ClockworkMod 3.0.0.8 installed. However, I need to send the phone back to the manufacturer and need to remove root etc.
Can I?
I want to remove any custom rom and or if possible ClockworkMod to go to the standard setup. If i can only do the rom then that’s ok, but I would prefer everything back to stock.
I have looked for a while on how to do it to no avail. What roms/programs do I need? Is there an established tutorial? etc.
I know I am likely to be flamed for missing some previous thread about this and for that, I apologize and appreciate links to other threads.
Thanks in advance
wrong forum dude... first this is incredible S and this should go into general:
but to answer your question (which has been answered a hunderd times already so a search should got you there...)
run the ruu when device is started up. everything will be removed.

Completely stock, S-on, 4.3 Sprint htc one. How do i flash/unlock?

Hi
I have a sprint HTC One, 4.3, stock, not rooted, locked, everything as in the factory settings.
I need this thing sim unlocked. Went around only to see guides that assume you have your device half-ready for the procedure-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2491840
"Don't flash it wet". What the hell does that mean?
I went around to search some more and see that to flash a rom, i need to be S-off.
Ironically, in another thread it said that to go S-off on 4.3........... i have to be on a custom rom.
My goal is very, very simple:
I just need to flash the rom in the link, that's all.
Can anyone please help and tell me what do i need to do and what goes where? i'm really at a loss, didn't touch any HTC device since the desire.

I suspect "Don't flash it wet" was a mere typo and was intended as "Don't flash it yet."
With that said -- if you read the remainder of the instructions you probably should have figured that out. And to flash a ROM, you do *not* need to be S-OFF.
What all this tells me is you really, really need to read all of the q&a page @bigdaddy619 created for all HTC One users. Everything is in there -- it will point you to the correct threads to read / view (videos) to unlock, root, obtain S-OFF, whatever. But honestly, take the time to read -- you have a nice device and the threads here are littered with folks jumping the gun and ending up in misery.
I actually read that thread entirely- Unfortunately it never reminds if you need to be S-off or not to flash a rom, nor does it say explicitly "you don't have to be s-off to flash a rom"
This thread was made for the sole purpose of not jumping the gun, and not ending with a disaster.
Now that i know that s-off is not relevant to the case, i can unlock my bootloader, flash a recovery and flash the rom with a clear mind and no fear my device would brick due to wrong procedures.
Thanks.
-That said, unfortunately, the guides don't update while software versions do. Most of the guides go up to 4.2.2, so i don't know what will or won't work on 4.3
-please delete. double.

Most of us flash 4.3, works fine. Beware of file system changes, obviously, between older (e.g., 4.1 based ROMs) and later versions. You'll end up with 'lost files' that you have to fixup otherwise -- most particularly nandroids.
If you use TWRP -- just make sure you turn off the screen timeout or you'll get screwed when it turns off -- all too often you can't get the screen back on with out a 'hold-forever power/vol-down until it reboots' operation. I use PhilZ recovery because it's solid, no screen issues, charges the battery, has proper OTG support, and supports both TWRP and CWM style nandroids.
Hope it goes well for you.

[Q] Exact Method to Root/Flash Custom Roms to 4.4.2 Verizon S3 i9305

So this might be a noob question, or answered elsewhere in the forum, but I can't find my exact answer or my phone. For the record rooting wasn't this difficult when I had my HTC Incredible before joining the Apple side for almost 2 years. Anyways I tried to root and successfully did so via towelroot, but upon trying to install liquid smooth rom (if there's any other rom's that are good on battery/ram please let me know haha) I got the dreaded take this phone to a Verizon store message. Well I flashed back to stock via Odin, but I still want to root my device in order to install some sort of rom that'll be nicer to my battery and would appreciate any help that can be given! Thanks in advance guys!
Did you manage to flash a recovery?

I'm having the same issue with the ringtones. I could never add a custom ringtone even in the previous versions of this ROM.
Using ES File Explorer, when I try to copy my ringtones to system/media/audio/ringtone, ES File Explorer gives me an error, which is "EROFS - Read Only File System". When I checked the properties of that folder, both "Readable" and "Writeable" are "Yes".
I also moved my ringtones to the sdcard/ringtone folder. When I select one of my custom ringtones from the menu ("Select music track"), it reverts back to the Ringtone menu without making any selection.

Have you tried flashing this fix? I had a problem where it couldn't find my custom ringtones in the ringtone folder, but after flashing this, it was there.

Wifi Issue for Bad Boyz 4.4.4 update
After booting up my updated HTC One M8 into Bad Boyz 4.4.4 Rom, I wasn't able to turn wifi on. Also I can't get the regular system update to see that I have 4.4.4 and to stop prompting me to download it.
The ability to download certain mods for the phone is amazing though props to the Devs! Thank you!
If anyone knows how to fix the wifi issue please let me know. I wiped Cache before and after the install of the Rom. Not sure what could have gone wrong.
If anyone can help with this I would be grateful I use wifi a lot to download larger files or stream because my LTE Connection isn't that great in my apt.
Fairly major issues, Seems really outdated.
I just flashed the rom and kernal included in the download list. Google Play won't connect, and Blink Feed literally crashes constantly. I am unable to get the phone to do anything. I would clear the BlinkFeed crash message and immediately another would pop up. I flashed this rom back when it was first published and everything worked great. I then had to return my phone to stock so I could get screen replacement, now this rom appears to have gone from the best, to useless.
Reagarding the Post
Yes Really I have done this and works well even in PC and also in Android mobiles.
Quick question, the only roms I have used have been stock and CM11 on my M7,
With CM11, HTC Synch would not see the phone, I have tried other programs for backing up, HTC Synch has been the only one that works for me.
Will HTC Synch see my phone with this rom???
EDIT:
Never mind, I'm an idiot
I am thinking TWRP 2.8.0.2 isnt the recovery to use......
Been sitting for about 5 minutes with no movement trying to flash..
Any ideas??
HTC Synch doesn't see it, but that doesn't matter.
I been searching the Rom thread for battery issues, my battery is getting sucked dry super fast, other then this, the Rom flies, I love it....

Amplify may be your best friend. Btwn that and apps like Greenify and something other than the stock kernel may make your battery life wonderful.
In my use of this rom (my standby DD when I'm not trying something new), my biggest knock in battery life was when I was using ElementalX kernel with wake gestures enabled. It was awesome, but it gobbled on my battery like nothing else. Ifound myself charging my phone almost twice a day. With the apps mentioned and Kangaroo kernel (for 4.4.2)? I got crazy life.

Sweet, thank you sir, snagging it now...
I apologize if this has already been covered, but whenever I try to search a thread through the xda app I get all kinds of garbled results, and trying to read through this whole thread would take months... For some reason, neither "modifications" in settings nor the HUB app will work for me. They always give a pop-up that says "myHUB has quit working." No other issues with the ROM. Any ideas? Is there a link to reinstall myHUB without having to re-flash the entire ROM?

New Version of the software.
Hi Sir,
I have rooted my HTC One M8 and currently having the Bad Boyz Sprint ONE M8 Harman v1.5 ART
Andorid Version 4.4.3
HTC sense version 6.0
Currently I am in US and running my phone on Sprint as It didn't work on T-mobile and Lyca Sim.When I used in India, it worked with GSM carriers. I have the MSL also for this.
I wanted to know if there is any software UPDATE from your end for my device. I keep getting a System Update from HTC which I obviously can't install.

Firmware Confusion - Updating to the 5.0.2 BB ROM from 4.4.2 BB ROM
Hi all,
Could you guys please advise me on how to go about updating from the 4.4.2 BB ROM to this new Lollipop BB ROM? Previously, when upgrading, I just downloaded the ROM directly to my device and flashed from TWRP. I never dealt with an accompanying firmware update or reflashing TWRP. I never had to mess with fastboot on the computer after the original unlocking/rooting. I recently tried running the Lollipop RUU.exe directly from Sprint to return to stock and get the OTA update, but it would not work because presumably my firmware was old. It said I had 1.31.652.1 when I did getvar all in fastboot mode because I had done an OTA update a long time ago. Apparently there is no 1.31....RUU readily available (5 hours of googling and scouring forums). I read people used 1.29... so I relocked my bootloader and tried the 1.29....RUU.exe, but that did not work. That got my device stuck in the bootloader. Could not access TWRP or boot to the OS. I was able to unlock the bootloader, wipe it, and somehow wound up with a fresh 4.4.2 BB ROM. I successfully flashed the latest TWRP 2.8.4.0 just to have it.
Currently my device is running the 4.4.2 Bad Boyz Sense 6 ROM and the latest 2.8.4.0 TWRP. Main goal - to get Lollipop (don't care if it's custom or stock). If I have the BB 4.4.2 ROM, does that mean I have the firmware version 5.03.651.3? If so, would running the 5.03.651.3 RUU.exe revert me to stock and thus able to receive the 5.02 Lollipop OTA update? Can I just download the Bad Boyz Lollipop ROM and flash that from within TWRP and be done? Or will I need to worry about flashing an additional firmware file, and can that be done from TWRP?
Currently S-On, but I have Hboot 1.44 so I should be able to revone and S-Off if necessary for whichever way is easier, right?
Unlocked bootloader.
Can't find the firmware version. Where can I find it?
Please advise me on the steps necessary to get this Lollipop update.
Also, thanks Bad Boyz for bringing it to everybody!

My understanding (limited as it may be) is that you only need S-OFF to flash custom kernels. I've never found a real need to do so but I was able to S-OFF with REVONE back in the day. For now if you are S-ON but unlocked, you'll need to flash the full firmware (link in the Bad Boyz thread and there's a firmware thread as well). My suggestion is you go to this post by @O.M.J http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58766627&postcount=1694 and follow the instructions for S-ON users before flashing the new BB Lollipop.
Good luck

Unfortunately that doesn't address any of my specific questions. I've read that forum post already. Thats how I know the new ROM exists. I've read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2694171&page=170 and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2795856 and do not see directions pertaining to flashing from within TWRP. The requirements section only says fast boot flashable in parentheses for some things.
Thanks for trying, but here are my question again:
Can I just download the Bad Boyz Lollipop ROM directly to my phone and flash that from within TWRP and be done? Or will I need to worry about flashing an additional firmware file, and can that be done from TWRP? As I said, I've just used TWRP in the past, not fast boot on the computer. Also, updating only required flashing 1 ROM in the past, so why does he bring up additional files, and can those be flashed from TWRP?
If I have the BB 4.4.2 ROM, does that mean I have the firmware version 5.03.651.3? If so, would running the 5.03.651.3 RUU.exe revert me to stock and thus able to receive the 5.02 Lollipop OTA update? Can't find the firmware version. Where can I find it? Software Info in About section just says Bad Boyz Sense 6. Thats not a firmware #.
Please advise me on the steps necessary to get this Lollipop update.
