Can someone help me, I just tried to update my xperia z1 c6903 to the new 108.ftf firmware, but when I ran FlashTool v0.9.16.1 I get the following.
After loading firmware and connecting mobile:
02/009/2014 14:09:23 - ERROR - Processing of loader.sin finished with errors.
02/009/2014 14:09:23 - INFO - Ending flash session
02/009/2014 14:09:23 - ERROR - S1 Header checksum Error
02/009/2014 14:09:23 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted
02/009/2014 14:09:26 - INFO - Device disconnected
This has got me stumped as everything worked normal the last update. My laptop OS is Linux but should not be a problem as there is FlashTools for it and nothing has changed except possibly FlashTool may have updated.
Also in Flashtools update for c6903 it shows there is a 108 firmware for Customised AU, how can I get this as Sony's program is only for windows no linux version.
tia
As it says check sum error, please re download the ftf.

Thanks for replying, I tried that and also used a ftf that I used before (last version 757?) got the same results. I have a feeling it may be the flashtool version I'm running, but being Linux I can't remember what version I was running before.

Hi all. I'm quite desperate about rooting my device as I couldn't get it working in two days.
My firmware version is 12.0.A.2.254.
I followed this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440375
On Windows 8.1, Flashtool does not detect the device in Flash mode. The notification light goes green, but nothing happens with Flashtool.
On Windows 8, the result was just like above.
Later I read about driver signature enforcement in Windows 8 and I admit that it was not enabled, so maybe that was the problem.
On Windows XP, Flashtool says the following:
03/005/2014 01:05:24 - INFO - Processing loader.sin
03/005/2014 01:05:24 - INFO - Checking header
03/005/2014 01:05:24 - INFO - Ending flash session
03/005/2014 01:05:24 - ERROR -
03/005/2014 01:05:24 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted
03/005/2014 01:05:25 - ERROR - Drivers need to be installed for connected device.
03/005/2014 01:05:25 - ERROR - You can find them in the drivers folder of Flashtool.

PC Companion and the drivers that came with Flashtool were installed in both cases.
Please share any thoughts - or, if you were able to root your device with the same firmware version, say how and on which OS! Thanks!

Hey,
Just read DoomLords tutorial, the whole thread, I believe there are many people with the same question and it's answered.
Are you sure you installed the flash tool drivers on the XP machine? (I would use XP or win7, not win8 for this).
Also try this:
Connect your Xperia SP via USB. (Don't forget to enable USB Debugging)
Then run the Software (http://adbdriver.com/downloads/) and choose your phone, which should be listed in the list.
Ok, I did it all over again on Windows 7 and... I'm excited to have my device rooted now.
There were two attempts, the first time Flashtool again threw an error, but at the same time Windows installed some driver itself and then everything went all right.
Thanks, Robin>Hood!

Yeah windows 8 and 8.1 gives massive problems you can do it eventually but it will take longer then just installing windows 7 on your computer!

Glad it worked out for you! Enjoy your rooted phone and the many options of the Xposed Framework!
Or you could give Cyanogenmod a try, I use CM10.1 29.10.2013 build as it is super stable for me
Next time, don't forget to use the search option, typing the right key words will help you a lot on these fora! Enjoy

Hi, when I plug the phone in Flashmode, im getting this message on Flashtool: ERROR - Can't read a byte value. im flashing 30.2.A.0.100 FTF on Xperia M5 E5606
Same with Xperia Z5 compact
Hello guys,
I had the same Issue ("Can't read byte value") on Windows 8 when trying to flash 32.2.A.0.305 (Android 6.0.1) onto my Xperia Z5 compact.
First I moved the *.ftf files out of my .flashTool/firmwares folder. Then it was enough to remove the .flashTool folder from within my User's profile folder. Then I started up FlashTool again, the .flashTool folders etc. were re-established. Closed FlashTool, moved the *.ftf files back to .flashTool/firmwares, started up FlashTool again, everything went just fine from then on.
Maybe this helps someone else, too.

First make sure no other program is using adb. Then reinstall all the flashtool drivers. Connect your phone and try. This is a common error for me, and a simple restart always fixes it for me
@ Mesh

Worked for me !
Check file and storage
Maybe your ftf been corrupted or your drive C: is full. Try to download the ftf file again and must be same with your type model.

I wan using flashtool to flash my xperia t with official ftf that i download from internet. But it always came out Error processing of system.sin finished with errors, I have tried three FTFs but all said Error processing of system.sin finished with errors. Now I wonder what's up and what shall i do ..
PS my Xperia T is bootloader unlocked allowed :NO
I had this exact problem today with my xperia V, solved by using flashboot v 18.5 instead of newest. Good luck
Hey zodeg, I'm experiencing the same problem right now. Could you explain this Flashboot v 18.5 thing? googled it but couldn't find anything about it though. Google only threw Flashtool 0.9.18.5 at me but I don't think that it's t he right thing. An upload of what you used there would be nice.
Thanks in advance!
Greetings,
Seyron
Try to use older version of Flashtool like 0.9.18.6 (of course download it from flashtool site ). I had this problem too and this solved my problem.

Download it:

I had initial proplems, and found that my pc did not like usb 3.0 ports, and ended up using usb 2.0 on front. but used drivers pack from flashtool 0.9.19.8 and installed z2 and z3 drivers, as well as pc companion. and worked fine for me. I just debranded mine from O2 UK to generic.
Hope this helps.

look I have windows 7 and I had problems with earlier versions of flashtool, what I recommend is that you make a test on another pc since apparently it is problem of your USB ports, or failing that should see if the USB port your phone works properly.
