[Q] I can't mount any ROM. Device unnamed [?] - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there.
I have a problem with my N7000. Today I've flashed stock firmware onto my phone, everything went ok, but I have a problem now. When I'm trying to install something from recovery, I can't. I select the ROM, everything is beeing checked, etc, and when it wants to install update, a message appears: "This packgage is for 'galaxynote,n7000,N7000,GT-N7000' devices: this is a ' '." . This happens with every single rom that I am trying to install via recovery. I tried to flash stock firmware two times, two different, still same effect, tried to whipe data/cache etc, still didnt got any effect. Any solution guys?

After you flash the stock ROM, the recovery will be stock as well.. You will not be able to flash roms from here.. For that you will need to flash philz kernel.

Well actually I can install anything via recovery, so installing kernel isnt possible.

I have exactly the same problem (and the same situation) as the OP. You cannot flash Philz kernel from stock recovery because the exact same error will pop up.
Right mate I think I got it. You will need to flash an older version of Philz kernel first, and then upgrade. Worked fine for me once I decided to install "05.05.2013 - PhilZ-cwm6 v5.00.4 with CWM 6.0.3.1 based recovery" first.

CWM doesn't require root!
Try to reflash a stock rom. Not the one package file but the whole rom.

Clockworkmod Recovery Galaxy s3 problems

Well guys this is my first time on the forums. My phone is rendered near useless right now. A few days ago, i rooted my phone via towelroot. as a friend reccomended, i installed ROM manager and flashed clockworkmod recovery. I backed up my stock, perfect ROM with CWM and decided to try installing cyanogenmod 10.3.1......... it wouldn't install. I even tried other apps like ROM installer. Then i came across the handy dandy Cyanogenmod Installer. This seemed great, i didn't have to do anything except click a few buttons on my PC. as i was ready to enjoy a new custom ROM, the following message popped up, "Root access possibly lost. Fix?". I was given the options of "No" and "Yes - Fix root (/system/xbin/su)". i chose the second one, and waited for my device to boot. when it did, it was stock Touchwiz Android version 4.4.2, just like i had initially. what's more is my imei and bandwidth version were both "unknown" and i my sim card was undetected. I decided that technology had gotten the better of my and i tried to flash my old stock ROM back on. i found the file in recovery mode but it kept saying "no files found" whenever i clicked on it. I tried the cyanogenmod installer again, this time choosing "No", resulting in exactly the same scenario. At this point, I would be fine having the stock ROM since i have had such bad luck with the "developer's world" of Android.......... PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Another note:
ROM manager now is telling me that CWM is not installed, yet it is present in recovery mode......

Have you tried installing some other recovery, like TWRP? You won't be able to install CM from it, but you should be able to install other roms.

follow the guide and replace your recovery easily. after flashing, what recovery you have flashed will be default recovery, i recommend philz, they are all downloadable in the guide

Would I have to uninstall CWM? I'm just wondering if the file for CWM will still be on my phone. I'll check out the link.

it´s the best if you also do a format of internal sd in recovery before changing the recovery, because sometimes there are some folders left of it in interrnal memory and you cant delete it, do that if this will be the case. but i think Philz and CWM use same folder, so if you flash philz it will be okay if im correct otherwise you can always format internal sd afterwards
Edit: dont use rom manager for recovery actions, use recovery itself, much more reliable

[Q]

My device is GT-N7000, using N7000ZSLR1 Android 4.1.2 stock ROM (Build number:JZO54K.N7000ZSLR1), used Chinese one key root app to root but unrooted to go to stock recovery to flash the newest Philz recovery (because Odin v3.09 failed to flash it), but fail like below screenshots:

I wonder why, I downloaded from the official platform (https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/n7000/), and my internet is good so there should be no corrupted files. All stuffs are stock now, so I dunno why.
(Additional info: If I flash "PhilZ-cwm6-XXLTA-ATL-5.15.0.tar.md5" using Odin, it works, but I want to use the latest Philz recovery, plus, the recovery will switch back to stock one after usage, that means after I press "reboot system now" in Philz recovery XXLTA-ATL-5.15.0, and power off and go to recovery mode again, it's the stock one. Dot't say something like "Oh flash this one then").
If you are on a stock 4.1.2 rom there is no way you can update to a newer recovery using philz. As he stopped updating the old kernels. You may try some other custom kernel.
The advanced Cwm edition will not work using odin or recovery. So leave that alone.
The XXLTA you flashed is a right path but it should not revert to stock recovery. There is zip version of that file. Flash it through the stock recovery.

Which custom kernal you recommend, and is stable then?
And which 'Old" Philz kernal is the "newest" to my ROM? I mean the newest in the old kernal, if you get what I mean.

The XXLTA you flashed seems to be the latest from Philz list of recoveries for TW 4.1.2 kernels for now.. You may check forest's kernel.. I think it has an updated recovery.

Bootloop on custom ROMs; stock ROM OK

Hi all!
I flashed my recovery to TWRP and ever since then, I always get stuck in bootloop no matter what custom ROM I try. Flashing back to stock rom via ODIN works.
It's been a while since I've tinkered with custom ROMs so I may be missing something. Any ideas on where to start?

Hi,
Which phone ? i9305 or i9300 ?
Which version of TWRP do you use ?
You should try latest version of TWRP (2.8.7.3).
Or try Philz touch Recovery 6.48.4 or 6.59.
1.Repeat ODIN step to stock rom
2.Root the phone by kingroot (as it's doesn't required pc)
3.After rooting, Download Cwm rom manager
4.Install Cwm by selecting your phone model and etc
5.flash it directly from the apps
6.now you can flash any rom ( please backup your system for your safety)

Recovery

EDIT: SOLVED!!!
Hi guys! I have a question. I have twrp that I installed with the help of advanced stock kernel. But it doesn't look like a permanent recovery. If I install a custom ROM without a recovery, I will lose my recovery. Can you help me install a permanent recovery on my phone. ?
I have tried flashing using flashtool and it only boots into twrp and not android.....
Thanks !

The reason you lose recovery when installing a new ROM is because TWRP is built in Advanced Stock Kernel, and when you flash for example SLiMM ROM it reflashes its kernel.
That means that every time you install a new ROM you will need to reflash the kernel.

Don't worry, Im going to close the thread now . The problem was that i cannot flash the kernel on roms like PA or CM without getting a bootloop, but i managed to find out how to flash a recovery to the recovery partition and then enter it using a key combo, and it works quite well, perfect for my needs!
Thanks anyway!:good:
