You are mostly right
You need a to be rooted, I suggest you use the 23.0.A.2.93 firmware to do this (4.4.4 - kitkat)
Have a custom recovery (click links to go to the posts)
Then flash a pre-rooted lollipop firmware
Sadly in lollipop they fixed the SuperSU Survival mode so the only way to get root is to flash a pre-rooted firmware

You will loose root if you update through OTA or through computer
You will keep root if you flash a pre-rooted firmware after gaining root on KK

Stock recovery lost!

Hi all, as the title I lost my Xperia Z1 stock recovery!
I had 4.4 with 14.3.A.0.757 firmware rooted and dualrecovery, and I updated to 5.0.1 Lollipop with PcCompanion. Then my Z1 became pretty slow so I wanted to flash this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/development/5-0-rockz1lv1-1-deodex-advanced-mods-t3090064 on my phone, but I recognized I had not any recovery installed! So i flashed the 14.5.A.0.242 Lollipop firmware thinking I'll get back a recovery, but still don't!
How can I fix this?
Thanks

From taking what you have wrote, when you were on 4.4 kitkat you rooted your phone and put dual recovery on, your mistake was to upgrade to lollipop using the PC companion instead of finding a pre-rooted lolliop on these forums, hence the reason you lost recovery, the only way to get it back would be to go back to kit kat and then root your phone put dual recovery on flash the firmware you want from recovery.

Upgrade Z3 Compact OS, Running 4.4.4 rooted!

Hey guys, my current device is the Sony Z3 Compact w/ 4.4.4 & rooted! on bell Canada network, is there any OS upgrades? and what method do I approach with the phone being rooted.
Also my previously mobile device "Droid Incredible" which had a boot loader that allowed me to clear cache, backup OS and re-install new OS could this be done on my Z3 Compact as well.
Link to a Guide or a post will be much appreciated!
Thanks,
you can unbrand (remove all the bloatware from your mobile company) Flashing a new STOCK rom with flashtools (official) and update it to latest 5.1.1 or 6.0.1
Tutorial can be foun here http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/list-stock-firmwares-d5803-d5833-t2906706
hope you can make it, i had my doubts when i first started flashing my phone, but, it gets easier!

Flashing Stock ROM(lollipo) of xperia z1 on rooted but bootloader locked xperia z1?

I have xperia z1 which is rooted by kingo root but bootloader locked.
The problem is to unroot xperia z1 but the unable to do so. I tried the same kingo root to unroot but it can't. And I used other applications (don't remember) but in vain.
So, I decided to INSTALL STOCK ROM for xperia z1. I got links in xda forum for stock roms https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469191https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469191[/U]. but old roms were there. ( If any links to official stock roms, please post it)
Right now my build is 14..6.A.1.236 which was not there in it. I added the present config of xperia z1 at the end of this post.
I want my xperia z1 on stock rom in order to remove root ( because the banking related apps won't start. I know there is a way to hide root from installed apps using xposed modules but my Supersu app keeps showing binary is occupied. I came to know that in the process of unrooting using several procedures , root access is tampered on my device. I screwed it.)
And my bootloader is locked.
Please can anyone suggest a procedure to do so and please to do cite any links. It would be grateful of you guys
My xperia z1 config:
1. MODEL C6902
2.ANDROID 5.1.1
3.BASEBAND VER. 8974-AAAAANAZQ-10270086-81
4.BUILD NO. 14.6.A.1.236
Thanks guys for any response given.
:fingers-crossed:
